Lumia 800 - attaching files to web massage?

Hi All,
I've just taken delivery of a Lumia 800 and trying to get to grips with where everything is and how it works. I must say, it's far more complicated than I was expecting with basic task seeming to be more complicated than they need to be.
My question relates to attaching photos to messages on websites. I used my previous photo to email photos via Yahoo and submit them to a certain website while on the move. I've never had a problem doing this with any other phone. However, with the Lumia 800, it doesn't seem to allow you to to this. On the webpage I normally use, there is a box with a browse button that when you press, nothing seems to happen. On all phones previously, and when using the site from a pc, you simply press browse, select the file from the memory card / drive and press upload. But this doesn't seem to be the case on the Lumia 800. When you press browse, nothing happens, you don't get a box to select a file from the phone or anything.
Has anyone any ideas of how to get around this? If not, it may be a case of the phone goes back and I'll go back to using my X6.

Thanks krizanand, I'm glad it's not only me that can't seem to do it. All I'm trying to do is send a file attachment via a web page upload screen, it's exactly like trying to attach something to a page in this forum but as you've seen, nothing happens when you press attach using the phone. It won't allow you to browse files on the phone to select the one you want. It's driving me mad to be honest and I feel like sending the phone back as not fit for use and going back to my old X6 (that works perfectly) as the Windows Phones just seem riddled with basic software issues. I'm beginning to wish I'd never upgraded my phone package now.
I'll try what you suggest and try using a third party internet browser but you'd have thought Microsoft would have got the basics of IE9 on the phone right wouldn't you.
carman58, uploading to Skydrive doesn't seem to be a problem, but it's not their that I'm trying to send the photos to. I'm a photographer that submits them to a specific website and need to either email or submit the files using the website rather than to a hosting site.

I've seen it advertised that the Lumia 800 supports AVI files, but I'm not able to transfer them to the phone.
I'm not that familiiar with the Zune software but I can transfer wmv files.
Does the Lumia 800 support AVI files, if so how do I get them onto my phone?
If not is this likely in the future with the OS, or are there any applications that would help?

Windows Phone supports these video formats for playback:
3GPP formats (H.263), ASF, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV 9
AVI in itself is not a video format, it can contain a number of types of encoded video. You can choose to convert your videos to a suitable format or use a streaming service like Plex to access your video collection on your home PC.

Attach File in Web Dynpro ABAP Application

Attach means, you need to add (Reference document) the file for each record or store the file in the back end.
Three fields need to maintained in back end table (custom table)
1) Attachment data - Xstring (type)
2) Attachment Type - string (type)
3) Attachment name - String (type)
From the File Upload UI element
UI "data" field to -> Attachment data
UI "fileName" field to ->Attachment name
UI "mimeType" field to ->Attachment type
Update/ save it in back end table, based on the requirement
Opening the Attachment in UI in event Action:.
Pass the table value to the below class as mentioned.
cl_wd_runtime_services=>attach_file_to_response(
EXPORTING
        i_filename       = Attachment_name
        i_content        = Attachment_data
        i_mime_type = Attachment_type ).

I've just struggled though the same problem.
The Exception handling and logging around this area is a bit dodgy.
Ensure that you have:
-javax.activation.DataHandler (activation.jar)
-javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart (mailapi.jar)
in your classpath.
If the code cannot find these classes, it thows an exception which is silently handled...

Flv, mp4, avi, mkv files to play on Lumia 800 devi...

Befor buy this phone I want to know:
1. I have a bunch of video files in differen formats. Is possible to copy these ones to Lumia phones and play (without pre-convertation to special format)?
2. Is it flash video supported in browser? daylumotion, vimeo, differen news websites I would like to watch.
Both these points works out of the box on my old SE Xperia Ray phone. Now I would try Luma 800, .. but these two points are important desicion makers.

The answer to both questions is NO !! You have to transfer and convert Video via the Zune software from PC to Lumia, and Flash is not supported. However the Lumia 800 is a very smooth and quick phone to use, has great web browsing and sensational email support. I have plenty of video on my Lumia and there are various YouTube apps along with news applications that play video fine. However the answer to your questions is no !!

Attaching files to a web form

please tell me how to attach files to a web form for uploading. i know how to make a page that just uploads a file. but before i do it, i have to attach files( sent by a pop-up window ) to a web form in a main window. There are some resources about uploading files, but not for attaching files to a web form... please help me...

I gotcha!
Try this:
1) Open new window with file inputs within a std form.
2) Have form submit to servlet
3) Have servlet retrieve file(s) and save them in session.
4) Have servlet spit out javascript to close popup window and refresh main page (which will then show some sort of verification that the files were received.
5) When main form is submitted, retireve (and remove) files from the session and process.

Juno and Yahoo Webmail: Firefox makes the attach file button in webmail disappear and other web browsers don't

Using Juno and Yahoo webmail (only on this computer, not my others) the attach file button loads but then disappears when creating a new email or replying. All other web browsers allow me to attach files using these two webmail sites. This does not affect other sites like school applications to upload files for class in Firefox.

As mentioned in the original post, the user IS the owner and the permissions are WIDE open for the user. I have also tried to disable the anti-virus - no luck. The problem is ONLY happening in Firefox. Chrome and IE work perfect. There is also no problem in Windows. The user can add/remove/edit files in the directory. Right now the solution seems to be to use Chrome. I'm not excited about that, but at this point, the only option.

Cannot attach files or print from some web sites

Having trouble attaching files to an email and printing emails

"could not print from some web sites" problem. tried your suggestion using
PRINT.PRINT_PRINTER, selected RESET and RESTART....problem solved.

Attaching files on SD card on phone memory in emai...

I need urgent help on how to attach document in emails or web forms with Lumia 520. Each time I try attaching document by pressing the browse button on web forms, nothing happens and when I press the attach button on email clients, in only takes me to the photo gallery, this is really frustrating as I have to wait till I use a PC before I could attach files, I can't even view the files on either the phone memory or SD card directly without going through office.

Welcome to Nokia Discussions!
For sending Office (Word, excel, Powerpoint) files through email, go to the Office Application, perform a long tap on the file you would want to send and options should appear there. Same applies to PDF and image files, you just have to go to each application in order to do that.

Internet Explorer - couldn't attach files for emai...

In Internet Explorer, I tried to attach and send a file from my Lumia 800. But, after clicking the browse button for attaching file, there is no response. Is this the case with all or this could be resolved?

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
Internet Explorer on Windows phone cannot upload files by design, like masterpeura mentioned. If you need to send attachments, it's recommended to use the phone email client. Please see here for instructions on how to set up an email account on your phone.

Nokia Lumia 800 - Email templates

Hi, I am trying to create an email template on my Noia lumia 800 for sending quotes to clients.
The template would have a company logo at the top, followed by some standard text with a few black spaces to be filled out specific to each client.
Is this possible?? Thank you.

Not sure about email templates, but get used to the copy and paste feature and you could use the Office Word option, or use the Word file as an attachement,

How to read the contents of attached files

I am designing a Form using LiveCycle Designer 8.0
Scenario:
User can attach the file through "Attachments" facility provided on Adobe Reader.
The requirement is to attach 3 documents and post it to SAP system using Web services.
I am using the following code(which i got from this forum only) to find the number of files user has attached.

n = d.length;
