Lumia 800 doesn't keep time

I've had this problem for ever now, and none of the updates have fixed this issue, and I'm not the only one with this problem.
The clock of my Lumia 800 runs too fast, in a week or two, it will be 3-4 minutes ahead of time, and in a month it's already 5 minutes, this is just unacceptable. The difference gain slows down with time so to keep it within a minute I need to set the time very often (weekly).
I've tried using manual time, and automatic, both of which don't help the problem, and it seems the automatic time option doesn't even work since no matter what time you set, when you switch it to automatic, it doesn't do anything.
To be honest, I'm a little disappointed by the support this phone has gotten since it's release, especially with the firmware updates.

Hi masterpeura,
Thanks for your post.
If your Lumia does not retain the correct time when on network time I would suggest you have the Lumia checked by a Nokia Care Point or Repair Centre.
From personal experience I can say when linked to Network time my Lumia keeps accurate and correct time on my own network (GiffGaff/O2) and when abroad (US, T-Mobile). It will adjust between time zones within a minute of switching on or coming out of flight mode. Obviously there may be a reason why your phone is not doing so for which it will have to be checked by a repair centre.
Hope this helps,
Kosh

When i switch off and on my Nokia Lumia 800, date and time changes: from 2 september 2012 8.00 to 2 march 2013 14.00. I need help to understand this strange problem and find a solution.

I had the same problem with my Lumia 800. The Lumia 800 kept changing time and date as soon as I switched it off and turned it back on. In my case, doing a HARD RESET helped to fix this. BEWARE! You will lose all your data!
Switch off your phone, hold Volume Down, Power, Camera buttons down. Switch phone on. As soon as it vibrates, release Power button, keep Volume Down and Camera button pressed for a few seconds.
I have the same problem and after going through all the various support sites- Nokia, O2, and endless forums I was told the same thing "Make sure your auto-update for date and time is switched to automatic" But after telling them I don't know how many times that my Lumia 800 didn't have this option, only a 24 hours switch I was told there was nothing that could be done. However I appear to have sorted it out myself. The problem appears to be (or on my phone at least) is wi-fi connection, before I turn my phone off I have to disconnect from wi-fi and when I turn the phone back on the date and time stays corrected.
When I set the date and time manually (for the 3000th time!!) I held in the power button until the slide down close screen disappeared then released it and the phone restarts, then I done it again- same proceedure just to be sure and ever since the date and time has stayed correct. BUT BE SURE TO TURN OFF WI-FI BEFORE SWITCHING PHONE OFF. Hope this helps

  • Nokia Lumia 800 rebooting 2-3 times a day at rando...

    Dear readers,
I have a problem with my Nokia Lumia 800. The problem is that it reboots 2-3 times a day at random. It does it when making a call, being at the homescreen, using an app or not using the phone at all. I took this phone back and got a new one, even a new simcard. But with this new phone, I have the exact same problem!! How can this be? Nobody seems to have the problem, but I do.. with 2 different phones and 2 different simcards. I'm talking about the simcard, because some said it might be the problem. But replacing it doesn't solve a thing. What could the problem be? I am planning to take it back again, but if my third Lumia has this problem, then I'm gonna freak out. Could it be my fault, somehow? I am not holding it in a specific position, nor am I pushing any buttons when it happens...
If you know how to solve this other than taking it back, would be much appreciated.

I also had this problem and wondered if it was because i updated it in zune? I now have a second handset and havnt experienced this yet with my new handset. Your problem it seems is not just your own as my first handset would do it waking up, texting, looking in people hub, web browsing and even did it in the middle of a call. I took it back to the three shop and as the guy looked at it it said goodbye. He replaced the phone and so far i had it for about 6 hours. I did have one issue with the screen not waking up in a call on this one and had to hold the power down to end it. Also find that when holding your finger on the screen while scrolling a web page it judders. :/

  • Clock doesn't keep time in windows 7

my clock in windows keeps giving me the wrong time and date no matter how often i change it.  it works fine in mac partition.  any suggestions?

Either you didn't install Apple Boot Camp drivers, or your internet time server doesn't work with Apple's service, which does happen in some cases, more often outside USA.

  • Without main battery, CMOS checksum invalid.Doesn't keep time and BIOS settings. Backup batt is OK.

Good morning all, some months ago my dv6-6159sl laptop started to have this problem: WITHOUT MAIN BATTERY (using as desktop replacement with AC adapter only, unplugging from wall outlet when I don't use it) immediatly after power on button pressed, I get black screen error" CMOS Checksum is invalid  .  CMOS reset (502) . " and it restarts with all BIOS settings reset and time reset at 00:00:00 year 2010... The problem appears randomly: for days I don't get it, then I get it once, twice...then everything OK for one, two, many days...and again shows up...and so on... NOTE THAT BACKUP BATTERY CR2032 HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE (for being sure) AND IS BRAND NEW, AND IS OK: A VOLTMETER SAYS 3,03 V . Tried to update BIOS to last F1.B , tried to revert back to F1.A and previous version (that is: I tried every single available BIOS on support page...)... No luck...Tried to recover BIOS with this procedure: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04126730  ... nothing changed...Tried to recover whole system...Nothing fixed... Notes: hardware hasn't changed , HDD and RAM are OK (tests done). What to do now? • Lumia 800, device driver keeps asking me to restar...

once connected to the pc, the driver looks to restart the computer. Removed all drivers and updates that were installed. Restarted the pc and phone. Once again the driver was downloaded. Asked me to restart, did so. But again, back to square one. As a result zule wont work, cant transfer files, and to say i am not happy is an understatement.

    Hi secretative,
    Thanks for posting and welcome!
This is most likely not directly related to Zune or your Windows Phone drivers as these do not require a restarts of windows when loaded. The cause of this behaviour could be in the windows version (which are you running) or some other application such as anti-virus software or other software monitoring installed files.
Hope this helps, let us know if you have any further questions on this.

  • Lumia 800 Web browser keeps shutting itself

Yesterday I was playing this game Age of Sorcery when it crashed. Since then the game, weather view app and the web browser are all shutting down in few seconds when I try to open any one of them.
I have tried reinstalling the apps, restarting the phone and reseting the phone (soft and hard), but yet nothing has solved the problem.
Also after the reset I tried to reinstall previously purchased apps from windowsphone.com but it says the apps cannot be sent at the moment, try again later. I hope there's a way to get those apps back without buying them again.
    Any suggestions?

Ok so let me define that all web browsers and apps based on web browser are crashing. On the other hand, marketplace, zune and nokia music for example are working normally.
No problem in downloading purchased content anymore. Purchases are saved on windows account.

The phone turns off when you try to make calls, answer calls, send messages, basically anything at all. The battery I is fully charged.

First verify the SIM is properly seated, try using another SIM to verify.
Try a reset (search the forum for precautions) using Settings>about>reset my phone
If all else fails go to a Nokia Care point

  • Lumia 800 supports ad hoc?

I got a USB wifi adapter.
And I keep trying to connect my phone to it but it doesn't find it at all even when adding it manual still fails.
So Lumia 800 doesn't support ad hoc?
Will there be a update that supports it?
    Please say yes -.-

Oh I just looked up what you're trying to do. It doesn't and I'm not sure if this functionality is even on the horizon just yet. I would imagine this is a feature that you're most likely to see appearing in WP8 Apollo. 3rd quarter this year I believe.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 2nd. device dies!!

    Hi!
Today I'd like to let you know that this is the second time that my Nokia Lumia 800 dies.
Second tieme? Yes, it is second time!!! Only to a Nokia it could happen!!!
I'm really angry towards this formerly "prestigious" brand. They launch to market a Chinese product at an European price!!!!! That's it!!! A product that isn't able to be switched on longer than a week.
Two months ago my Nokia Lumia 800 died by first time. El Corte Inglés Nokia SAT (Madrid, Spain) sent it to repair; and supposedly, according Nokia technician words, Nokia SAT changed everything except for external case. Even all data in device were lost, I received it as new.
Let's say a pray for it, today Nokia brand passed away for me!!!!!

    Hi Ceroberts75!!
Thanks for your replay, but it isn’t necessary you stand Nokia brand in this way. Always, in all human organizations there are lot people that suck up and scrounge around companies to beg for a fistful of scraps and they’re happy with them!!!!
You, see? In the Spanish forum my post has been deleted! Is this freedom of speech? No, it’s censure!!!
If you spent almost 500 euro for a device that supposedly is stand by one prestigious company as Nokia was; wouldn’t you expect that once after repairing device, this dvice shouldn’t have the same problem? So, I would!
NOKIA isn’t the same as it was since they started to manufacturing in China.
If you look at Nokia financial results, losses reached 150 M. € the first trimester 2013. Why? It’s clear!!
1st Because their sales were much less than expected and their investments were much higher.
2nd Because their products aren’t supported by customers as long ago due to the hip of problems that new OS causes.
Finally, this rant is for advising those that they aren’t aware about this problem and this brand.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 - Software Update

I have tried loading the Windows Phone software update on mu Nokia Lumia 800 and every single time I have done this through Zune software my phone runs through the majority of tasks it has to do and then locks up at task 9 out of 10 as it re-starts my phone. I had left this going over night but still it hangs on 9 out of 10 tasks completed.
Has anyone else had this problem and did you overcome it?
My current firmware version is 1750.0805.8773.12220
My current OS version is 7.10.8773.98
    The latest versions are:-
    Firmware 1750.0823.885x.124x0
    OS Version 7.10.8862.144
Very frustrated as I have to start my phone again and restore it back to previous version.

    Hi arumuga,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
This could be that the server could be down or busy. You can also try disabling any firewalls and anti virus software and try again. Also have a look at the following links:

  • Should I keep Lumia 800?

Hi have just taken delivery of Lumia 800. Probably should have looked at forum before ordering. I appreciate forums are largely used by people with issues, but I have been shocked by problems with phone and some of its limitations eg can't direct synch outlook tasks - I don't have ability to use exchnage server and was motivation for buying a windows phone rather than iphone(assumed there would be no issue). Question is should I keep phone or return under 7 day cool off. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sadly Nokia has again failed to listen to it's customers, the whole battery issue has been declared -solved- although sadly it is nowhere near solved. The battery longevity varies hugely from day to day, one day it will sit on standby for 18 hours the next it will die after 6 hours (this happened to me yesterday from full charge to flat in 6 hours standby)
It had/has the potential to be a great phone but the battery issues plague it, if you have not already bought one then, as a loyal Nokia customer since they first started selling mobile phones for general use, I'd steer well clear of it until they either fix it or replace the model with something that does the job it was designed for.
The Lumia 800 has been all said and done the most complete and utter dissapointment Nokia could have put to market. It  was clearly rushed to production and sale without first making sure it was up to the job.  The only thing Nokia can do now is put it's hands up and admit to it's customers that there is and always has been a battery issue, it has not been resolved, make efforts to get the issue rectified as soon as possible and hope some of them will stay 'brand loyal'. I have tried to remain positive throughout but it is now very hard to remain upbeat when I have a phone which I cannot use for any time for fear of being caught without power and cannot enjoy the features of unless it is plugged in and charging (note plugged in with the Lumia does not always mean charging) this defeats the word mobile and provides me with a very expensive electricity consuming landline

  • Lumia 800 Date And Time Incorrect After Restart

I purchased a Lumia 800 in the UK in December 2012 (SIM FREE) and I have a problem when I switch it on where it resets the date to anything like 1980 or 2084(?) and the time to a random setting. I have looked for a solution but cannot find one that works. Will this issue be fixed with the Windows Phone 7.8 update that's coming? When the date is wildly out it affects the functionality of the phone i.e. sync issues. I have tried restarting a Lumia 610 and this problem does not occur. Are all Lumia 800s the same i.e. (hardware revision)? I thought that if I returned to the retailer a new version my fix the issue.

I'm facing the same issue with my Lumia 800, or rather was. Here's my situation: initially the handset would keep resetting the date to 1980 (and a random time) each time I switched it off and on again. This happened whether I was connected to wifi/mobile data or not. I've recently done a reset of the handset (using the option from within Settings) and this has partially resolved the issue.
Now if I'm connected to wifi/data when I switch the phone off/on the date resets to August 2013. If, however, I'm not connected to wifi/mobile data when I switch the phone off/on the date/time remain unaffected. So this would suggest that it's not an internal battery issue which is what I first suspected. As it stands now then the best option is to reset the handset and then ensure you turn off wifi and data/internet before switching the handset off/on. Still annoying to say the least, but partial workaround.
Furthermore there is no automatic date/time setting to toggle on/off under the date/time settings (removed by the last update I gather?), just an option to toggle between 12hr or 24hr clock. My handset is on the latest OS version and firmware.
Any idea if Nokia/Windows are working on this issue? Just doing a Google serach for this issue and it appears that a fair few other Lumia 800 users are facing the same problem.
    Thanks.
