Lumia 800 Internet Explorer

Whenever I try to open internet explorer on my lumia 800 will say it's loading then return to the start screen it will let me in the odd time but mostly it won't. Everything else works fine I can go into pages via Bing and apps work fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi bonabona86,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
It may be that your Internet Explorer or one of it's components has been corrupted somehow. We would advise you to either reset or update your phone. To check if your phone has an update available, navigate to Settings > Phone update. If an update is available, you can update your phone on Zune. Updating will (unless it is just a firmware update) re-install the phone software, including the Internet Explorer and it's components.
To reset your phone, navigate to Settings > about > reset your phone. This will, however, wipe all data off the phone, so it is first advisable to fully synchronise your phone with Zune and make sure that all your contact and calendar entries have been saved on your Microsoft account (ex-Windows Live ID). Note that all SMS messages will be lost, as there is no way of backing them up.

  • Issue with Internet Explorer on Lumia 920 Windows ...

The built-in Internet Explorer browser can't handle drop-down menus. On touch, the options are shown, the menu rolls out, but when lifting finger, it rolls back instantly so you can't make a choice. If trying to move finger to the sub-menu, the entire screen moves with the menu title fixed under your fingers, as when shifting a web page sideways. So the sub menu again can't be accessed. If using two fingers, the browser doesn't respond when selecting the sub menu. If pressing too long (>1 second) you're asked to share the link on e.g. Twitter... There seems to be no way of accessing the sub menu. So now I'm eternally logged on to LinkedIn since the logout is in an inaccessible drop down menu. Any way to solve this issue? When will this Internet. Explorer error be fixed? It's been there for months now.(May 2013)

I have the same issue on my lumia 920, love the phone but this is such a nightmare and pretty bad, considering the competition like i phone and Motorola g have no problems like this, plus its pretty embarrassing, i need this access for work, if there is no fix i may have to switch to another brand

  • Lumia 920 : Disabling Internet Explorer Pictures

I checked the version on the phone and it shows the lastest updated version of windows phone and nokia updates.
When navigating into internet explorer's settings, I see various options in advance settings, but none to disable automatic loading of pictures from internet explorer.  The lastest update list that feature.

    hi mate,
sounds like an issue with the website itself. every website i've tried on my 920 i've had no issues with on either Desktop or Mobile versions. i would take it up with them. You also have the option of trying an alternative browser on your Windows Phone 8 Lumia device, such as Nokia Xpress or UCBrowser.

  • Lumia 710. why can't I just close internet explore...

I've bought a lumia 710 a month a go, and i'm pretty happy with it, but i have a question: why there is no way to close the internet Explorer app with a single touch? The only way to close de app is by pushing the back button, but this is really anoying if you have went trough a lot of pages... If there is another way please tell me, and if there isn't... Well i think it should be!

You may try using the tabs when you go to IE > (...) as I think it's more convenient.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 Draining Credit?

Hey guys I've recently brought a used Nokia Lumia 800 (really liking it so far). The only problem is that it seems to drain my credit for no reason. When I go into my history it just says $[ammount] Data usage, and it has used up $20 telstra credit in two days! Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do?

Hi Haywoodjablome, are you subscribed to your Network provider with a data plan? Or are you on Pay As You Go (PAYGO)?
Assuming it's the latter, you can try to turn off the data connection by going to Settings > Mobile Network/Cellular.
In downloading games and accessing the Internet Explorer to browse the web, use WiFi instead.

  • My Lumia 800 Experience - Issues/Questions/Suggest...

    Ok.
Firstly, hi all. A few of you helped me when i had an X6, hope i get the same response now.
I have just gone from a Nokia N900 to a Lumia 800. It's a sleek, stylish phone, comfortable to use but the difference in touch sensitivity between the N900 and L800 is massive. I'll get used to it.
Firstly, a problem. It took me 3 and a half hours to get the contacts off my N900 and onto the L800. Why? The bluetooh transfer app would not work with either my N900 or the bluetooth on my Win7 laptop. Would pair, wouldn't transfer. I didn't have a LiveID so had to create one, then try to sync to Outlook, export contacts to Live via CSV file, then i could see the contacts on my phone. Wow. fuss and a half.
So. Data Transfer. Why when i have a Win7 PC and a Win7.5 phone, can i not simply drag and drop files to the L800, viewing it in Win7 Explorer as storage? Come on, that's basic. the older N900 can, why not this?
I believe my L800 is more of a MediaPhone/FriendPhone that a SmartPhone - but on that note, i cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone or alert, unless it's under 1mb in size....really? On the same subject, i have downloaded 4 text alerts from the Free Ringtones app by Ashterisk to replace the text alerts and email alerts. They can only be found in the Ringtones setting as Custom tones....they can't be found under the New Text/IM or New Email settings....and annoyingly, a ringtone i downloaded from the same app cannot be found at all, although will play in the media player...have i done something wrong?
Themes...can they be auto-installed so you don't have to create your own tiles and then replace the standard ones on the homescreen?
Internet Explorer. I save cookies because i would like to log in to a site automatically if i have a site opened from a tile, however, if i open up IE from the standard tile, it goes to the last visited webpage, and it doesn't seem like you can set a homepage or about:blank in there. am i missing something?
the phone seems excellent, and very well put together with some neat touches, but it doesn't feel as fluid, as user-friendly as the N900....considering the N900 was a "computer" and a true SmartPhone opposed to the L800 being a MediaPhone/FriendPhone, the L800 feels like it's missing a few tricks, and it's harder to customise, both with sounds and images, and commonly used webpages etc than the N900 which seems silly seeing as i think it's aimed at a younger user than the N900.
Am i just complaining for the sake of it because it's a new phone i don't quite understand yet, or are these things that other users are thinking, like "ahhh why the heck can't i just do *that*?!"
any and all feedback appreciated, latest software in use, forum browsed through for info, although i've not spotted these issues anywhere else, i'm only human and may well have missed them.

Fuly understand what you're saying, but to me, some of the stuff mentioned should have been there from the start, basic things like the mass storage connectivity would have made things so much easier, plus using full mp3 files as ringtones - phones have been doing this for years.
Another problem i forgot about is the ability close an application. unless i'm mistaken, if i've used IE and visited several pages, i have to press the back arrow repeatedly until the app exits....there's no "close" function.
Found an issue with downloaded music being played at max volume with the volume set at 1/30, i'll have a search for the solution to that.

What I notice is after 3 hours (approx) of disconnecting the phone from charging socket  battery is reduced  a bit I do not know how to measure the battery remaining etc , are these apps the reason for drain out of battery quickly if yes then how do I disable them for a few hours and re activate back again.
Or I need some thing else to do to save battery?

To cut the long story short.. Refer THIS  and THIS
There are a lot of applications available at the MarketPlace which will give you the remaining battery time..but keep in mind that these values are calculated based on the immediate use and are just indicative. (e.g. immediately after playing a game which is draining the battery at a fast rate the battery may show 5 hrs. remaining..but after that you don't use the phone for a long time and the remaining battery may show as 12 hrs..)

  • Internet Explorer interfears with Printing

After a recent update of Windows Server, all printers stopped working.
The culprit was Internet Explorer.  The security zones were updated which stopped the printer drivers from sending data to the printers via TCP.
How can Internet Explorer be removed from the printing aspects of a windows sever?

    Hi mathe226,
    Thanks for your feedback,
Opera mini is not really a browser such as IE9 as it is basically a viewer for pages as rendered by an Opera server and sent to the device as a pre-rendered page. This will obviously bring up a number of restrictions which, while fine for feature phones, where  basic web functionality would normally be enough, would not be desirable for a smartphone.
IE9 is a fully functional web browser with HTML-5 and Javascript support, both are not or very limited available in Opera mini. As a phone like the Lumia 800 is intended to be used with a suitable high-speed internet connection there is no real reason or need to turn off image loading, a function which was implemented at a time when access speeds were much lower and phones were far less powerful.
    Hope this helps,
    Kosh

  • Internet Explorer - couldn't attach files for emai...

In Internet Explorer, I tried to attach and send a file from my Lumia 800. But, after clicking the browse button for attaching file, there is no response. Is this the case with all or this could be resolved?

    R.Manikanth

    Hi manikanth_r,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
Internet Explorer on Windows phone cannot upload files by design, like masterpeura mentioned. If you need to send attachments, it's recommended to use the phone email client. Please see here for instructions on how to set up an email account on your phone.
    Hope this helps,
