Lumia 800 snapped batterey cover and can't hardly ...

Hi
I've had my Lumia 800 for a couple of months now. Recently the battery charger cover on the top of the phone started to bend and eventually snapped off. Is there any way to get a new one fitted?
Also since the recent update I can hardly hear the other person speaking when on a call, and that's with the volume turned up to the maximum 10. Has anybody else had this problem?

Think you can buy parts online, but would recommend taking phone to a Nokia Care Point for repair, my volume levels haven't changed since the update BTW !

Hello, I bought my Lumia 800 in NZ less than a week ago.  I get an error message when trying to access apps or get recommended updates via Marketplace...
"We're sorry but we can't complete your request at the moment. Try launching Marketplace again.  If the problem continues, check back in a little while or try restarting your phone.
    Error code: c00cee3b"
I have tried both the suggestions of checking back and restarting phone - this error message and code has been happening for several days.
Any ideas or tips much appreciated.

Hey akb_nz, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
I suggest that you try and reset your phone and re-sync your windows Live ID to it by performing a master reset, be sure to save a back up of your sensitive data!
If you are still experiencing problems with marketplace and applications, you can find more information regarding windows phone troubleshooting here.

  • Lumia 800 touch not working and battery question m...

I have been quite happy with my two months old Lumia 800 until recently when I accidentally dropped it on cobblestone and damaged the glass. Although the phone still worked I ordered a new combined glass, digitizer and screen from an internet supplier. The spare part was OEM and it was relatively painless to replace the old screen with the new screen. However, after replacing the screen, touch did not work and a question mark appeared over the battery icon. I searched the forum and other places on the internet and found out that this type of issue had been seen before and that it in some cases could be fixed by an upgrade of the firmware and a hard reset.
Now a few frustrated days later I am starting to think that possibly the replacement part is faulty as I have tried various firmwares, various ways to charge the battery with various types of USB chargers, but still no success. The phone simply won't respond to touch. Currently I am on firmware 1750.805.8773.12220.
Would any of you in the forum have any ideas what could possibly be wrong? Could it be a broken cable to the screen? I had similar issues with an iPhone 3GS which turned out to have a dodgy ribbon cable connecting the phone and the digitizer, but I cannot seem to find anything on the net mentioning this as a potential problem and I am wondering just how likely it is that the part is faulty, when the screen works fine and only the touch functionality is not working.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. It is very difficult to get in touch with Nokia in Denmark as their support phone is not working and the websites chat functionality seems to be off line all the time.
    Best regards,
    Anders

You shouldn't have used the phone at all after it dropped in Water.
Only Nokia Care can assess the extent of damage and tell you the repair cost. First, they should accept the device for repairs..and Second, this is certainly not covered under Warranty ..
Even if the phone is repaired with replacing a few components, not sure about the effect of the seepage on other parts which may start acting in a short span ...

  • My new Nokia Lumia 800 changes date and time after...

When i switch off and on my Nokia Lumia 800, date and time changes: from 2 september 2012 8.00 to 2 march 2013 14.00. I need help to understand this strange problem and find a solution.

I had the same problem with my Lumia 800. The Lumia 800 kept changing time and date as soon as I switched it off and turned it back on. In my case, doing a HARD RESET helped to fix this. BEWARE! You will lose all your data!
Switch off your phone, hold Volume Down, Power, Camera buttons down. Switch phone on. As soon as it vibrates, release Power button, keep Volume Down and Camera button pressed for a few seconds.
I have the same problem and after going through all the various support sites- Nokia, O2, and endless forums I was told the same thing "Make sure your auto-update for date and time is switched to automatic" But after telling them I don't know how many times that my Lumia 800 didn't have this option, only a 24 hours switch I was told there was nothing that could be done. However I appear to have sorted it out myself. The problem appears to be (or on my phone at least) is wi-fi connection, before I turn my phone off I have to disconnect from wi-fi and when I turn the phone back on the date and time stays corrected.
When I set the date and time manually (for the 3000th time!!) I held in the power button until the slide down close screen disappeared then released it and the phone restarts, then I done it again- same proceedure just to be sure and ever since the date and time has stayed correct. BUT BE SURE TO TURN OFF WI-FI BEFORE SWITCHING PHONE OFF. Hope this helps

  • Lumia 800 turning off randomly

    hi All
I'm having an odd problem with my Lumia 800, that I hope you can help with. The phone randomly shuts down, it doesn't seem to be related to the power levels as it does it when fully charged. It can go 2 days or 5 minutes before doing this. The odd thing is that to turn it back on I have to plug it into my PC, it comes back on immediately... it does not seem to come on if I plug it into the mains. This is a recent issue it worked for a couple of months without any issues.
Any ideas? I'm based in london on an Orange contract. Thanks for you help in advance.

I'm having a similar problem, my 800 switches off in mid conversation sometimes and restarts. This is very frustrating as most of my calls are to clients of my small business. However the caller ID from that call doesn't record as would usually happen. This is not so bad if it's a current client as I can call them straight back on the landline but if it is new business I don't have that option as I have no number :-( (therefore lost business)
I am getting really hacked off with it and could do with a proper answer.

  • Lumia 800 stalled

my lumia 800 was working fine and then went low on battery and will not now start. it sticks with the nokia screen or low battery picture. i have taken the battery out and reassembled and it remains the same. i have plugged into my imac and also to chargers...any ideas?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
Have you tried charging your phone in an hour or until your phone turns on? Note that if the battery is completely empty, it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is shown or before you can use your phone.
Note that only Nokia Care Points are authorised to disassemble a Nokia devices. Doing it by an unauthorised person may have unforeseen damaging side-effects. This will also invalidate the warranty of your phone. So, we do not allow it to be discussed on an official Nokia forum.

  • LUMIA 800 - Clock running slow!

    Hi there,
I have a bizarre problem with my Lumia 800 running on Optus - the clock runs slow! I have had to set the clock multiple times since I got it, and within about a week of setting it each time the clock is several minutes behind time. **bleep** about a fortnight of setting it the time reads over 10 minutes behind where it should be. I've noticed that unlike on a lot of other phones, there is no 'sync time automatically' or similar feature on the Lumia 800.
**bleep** a quick Google search, the only other mention I found similar to this problem was on another Nokia thread, of people on 3 UK complaining that their clock was actually running too fast:
    /t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/On-board-clock-waaay-fast-Lumia-800/td-p/1334499
Unfortunately there didn't seem to be a solution to their problem
For the record my phone was purchased through Optus, and I haven't made any modifications to it whatsoever. I have updated it with the latest firmware, however the problem has persisted since I first got the phone.
    Can anyone please help me?

Hi all, sorry for the delay getting back to you - for the record, I'll second the above replies and say that there's definitely no option to set time automatically on my Lumia 800..
Strangely enough, my issue resolved itself after a few months and I have no idea what fixed it!
On perhaps an unrelated note, for a period of about a month or two, my phone would routinely notify me about a new software update that was available. I connected my phone to the computer and updated the software, only for it to tell me a few days later that another update was available. After a couple of weeks of this, I looked into the update version and found it was the same update every time. Once again, this makes no sense to me whatsoever.
I have to say that I was really excited when I bought the Lumia 800, thinking that Microsoft (and Nokia) would bend over backwards to support the few customers that made the switch from iPhones etc. to such a fledgling platform, but I've since found that after-sales support has been pretty poor (evidenced in part by the lack of official response to this thread). I'm also really disappointed that Microsoft have essentially ditched their most loyal customers by upgrading to Windows Phone 8 without support for 7.5 users. Instead we've been waiting in the dark for the 7.8 update that still hasn't come out yet..
Apologies for the rant, thanks to the above users for trying to help me out - hope your phone issues resolve themselves also!

  • Lumia 800 Short Battery Life

    Hello,
I bought my Lumia 800 2 months ago and I've been a happy user until recently. In the past, it could remain in standby mode up to 5 days after a full charge (with WiFi on, no 3G). However, in the past few days, it couldn't even last over a night after a full charge. Within 24 hours, the battery would be drained completely and it would auto shut-down.
I haven't installed any new apps or changed my connection settings, and I think the only change I've done is to update WhatsApp to v2.8.
So, is there a problem with my phone which needs to be repaired? I have always been using the lowest brightness level and I'm a very light user (almost never use it), so it seems abnormal that such a new phone can't even be switched on overnight.
    Thanks

    Hi Billyfoo
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
Have you tried doing a soft reset on the device? By holding down the volume down key and the power button at the same time this will do a reset on your device but will not erase any data. Also do you have any background applications running? You can check this by going into settings and scrolling across to applications and then background tasks.
Also have you checked your Zune application for any updates? Make sure you have the latest firmware.
Furthermore you can also check the below link for a few battery tips:

  • Reminder in calendar Lumia 800

When adding a reminder in the calendar I get the option to choose from pre-defined times (like 5 mins, 15, 30, 1 hr, 2 hrs, 18 hrs, 1 day, a week etc). Is there ane way to set your own time (like 45 mins as an example)? If not, why?
    Appreciate any comment on this.

    Hi,
I wanted to make an important request/complaint as I feel the calendar feature has been designed with a degree of inflexibility for reasons I cannot appreciate.
The calendar and reminder services is such an important feature for managing my life on the go, and I am upset that my expensive phone is not flexible enough to help me when I really need it. I'm not sure if I should be complaining to Nokia or Microsoft but please please can you arrange a software update to include greater flexibility. I had complete choice of the hours to set on my previous 6300 phone.
I used to own a simple Nokia 6300, and the calendar reminders were very flexible. If I recall I could choose to have a reminder of a diary event at anytime I wanted. Most importantly I could set reminders in the hours approaching my event. Now on my Lumia 800 it appears that I can only choose 15,30,45 minute; 1 hour; 18 hours; 1 day; 1 week etc. this is not realistic when really more flexibility is what busy people need. What about 2 hours 3 hours 4 hours etc. I have to remember when to set my reminders so they remind me at the right time for the actual event!
Please please can you update the feature to provide maximum flexibility. Whether I am syncing with other calendars or not I need this feature to allow me to choose when to remind myself in hours and minutes. On my old 6300 phone I just used to choose the most appropriate snooze time as a quick update.
I feel bad that I've upgraded my phone but lost the flexibility of one it's most useful features.

  • Lumia 800 in China?

    Hello,
Let me start of by saying how outstanding the Nokia Lumia 800. The design and the OS make it a remarkable phone. So my inquiry is when will the Lumia 800 be available in mainland China(Beijing). As a finn i support Nokia 100% therefore i only buy Nokia phones, so far  i haven't liked the Symbian OS as much as i like the Windows phone 7 mango. I cannot wait for it to come out in China.
    Cheers!

The Lumia 800 will be launched in other countries at later dates, though we cannot presently give you any information concerning when certain specific countries will see specific products.

Sorry but this is really too funny. Anyone else noticed? I guess you have to have language set to 'english'.
    Using a Lumia 800:

Then type 'Lumia' and it says: "Punishment"

  • Nokia Lumia 800 with screen "offsetting"

    Hi all,
I just bought a Lumia 800 here, in France, and I've a really strange behaviour with the screen : sometimes, it flashes and is offset  for a few seconds. It's hard to capture it or reproduce it, but doing the december update, it was offset for a few minutes, so I took a picture...

Is that a known bug ?
    Hardware or software related ?
    Should I return it ?
    Thanks.

I have this issue as well. I'm loathed to send it off to Nokia Care as I've already had to send one Lumia 800 off for another fault, and it took nearly three weeks for turnaround.
Although it's interesting that yours does it for a few seconds at a time. Mine is only for milliseconds, then it flickers back. Still annoying.
