Lumia 800 sound option

is there any way to adjust the volume for calls while using the earphone/headphone which comes with lumia 800 package?? the sound is too loud and i could not reduce the sound, besides, right after the call, if i listen to misic, the volume option is not working and is too loud.

Hello,
I have the same issue, I cannot use earphones for calls, the volume buttons are disabled.
I also have switching noise when I accept incoming call.
My fw: 12070 did not solve this problem.
Please comment.

  • Lumia 800 sound quality observation

    Hi,
there is a lot of talk about the sound quality and as I wrote earlier I find it amazing with the Nokia Purity in ear headset - if you tweak the pad size to your ears.
I now got a HTC Sensation for work with beats audio headset (same company that makes Purity), which made me very happy as I expected as good sound as my Nokia. Boy, was I in for a suprise: The sound is awful! Nokia is definately a very good choice for an audio player/phone.

  • Lumia 800 Sound problems on call

    Hello guys.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever happened to this thing with this beautiful terminal.
Many times when I answer a call can not hear who's calling me and after many tests I noticed that, if when I answer I hear a noise as if it were turned on and off for a moment on the speakerphone, it means that I will present this problem and the only thing to hear the other person is to activate and deactivate the speakerphone.
    There is success?
    Thank you.

Since you have already checked settings and reset the phone and the problem still persists, then it is very likely a hardware problem. Perhaps it is time to pay a visit to your local Nokia Care Point. You can locate your nearest care point using th link below.

  • Lumia 800 has no "Podcast" option in MarketPlace?

    Hi All,
I have a shiny new Lumia 800 and have read all support documentation I can find and, apparently, "to download an audio or video podcast on your phone" I go to "Start, tap Marketplace, and then tap Podcasts."
My problem is that I go to "Start, tap Marketplace" and then find that there is actually no "Podcasts" option! I only have "Nokia collection", "applications", "games", and "music".
    Why no podcast option?
Some documentation I've found says "Subscribing to podcasts on your phone is not available in all locations or languages." but I cannot find anywhere that lists if it should be available in Australia.
Please, someone tell me I can get podcasts with this phone? If not, well... fail.
Wondering if I need to download an app for this?
    Cheers,
    C.

If, in Marketplace, you select 'Applications', then search for 'Podcast' you can see what is available to you.
Personally I now download mine to laptop and sync via Zune.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 microphone problem (sounds like a ...

I got my new Lumia about 1 week ago and after switching from N900 to Lumia 800 I have been getting lot of complaints from people whom I talk with.
Everybody starts the phone call the same way, by saying that is there something wrong, or am I in a speaker or a car or that it but no I'm talking to my Lumia keeping it in my hand at home or work, no speaker, no car, just normally talking.
I have noticed that this happens randomly when keeping it on my hand, but it's easier to replicate the problem always by holding it with only my shoulder hands free. Could it be due to Nokias new background noise reduction feature?
Anyone had the same issue or is it just my luck to have a faulty unit?
As I understand that even if I replace it, I cannot backup my SMS messages to the new unit, do they have a way in the Nokia Care etc.?
Nokia and Windows phone first impressions:
I see it coming there, but now it seems like the version 1.0 with something still missing from the old Nokia, that needs to go to version 2.0 soon with a taste of Nokia in it, hopefully this year...

Is there a way to get better audio than SBC over A2DP on a Lumia 800?

The Microsoft Xbox 360 bluetooth headset works and supports ADP2. Listen music, watch videos Youtube or Netflix wirelessly. Expect to pay $40-50 for this headset.

  • Annoying elementary problems with Lumia 800

Hello all from noKIA and microSoft...
Latest OS version upgraded 7.10.8773.98 but still elementary baby problems...
    1. First incoming phone  call ring tone seconds are at full volume 30/30 despite Your setting... **bleep**??? Why these first seconds should be at full volume? Can somebody from noKIA and microSoft explain that?
2 Impossible to swish off phone ring tone AND vibrating thing. It vibrates in any version. **bleep**??? Why it is impossible to switch off EVERYTING sound and vibrato?
    3. Where has gone so old but good thing of ring volume presets as older phones had Outside, Silence, Meeting etc? It was not so bad thing at all. Why it is thrown out?
    4. On the phone with English settings there is Office in Russian... **bleep**??? How can I use all helps, descriptions etc of this soft if I do not understand that language?
    5.  No possibility to download smaller world language keyboard layouts. Why it is so impossible if big brother Windows has it? Ok I understand that it is a "really huge problem" to have menus in world smaller languages (just copy the translations from older models - how hard it can be???)
    6. And why all updates are so difficult, so user involving? Can somebody learn user friendliness in any angle from Apple?
Seams that You do not learn on your mistakes and going deeper in them from phone to phone!
P.S. And after latest update - seamed to not working promissed flip over for silencing the incoming lall ring tone...
    Nokia 1611, 2210, 3110, 5110, 6210, 6310, 6310i (up to these models totally satisfied)
Then don't remember model, then E50 (mostly happy), then N97 mini - phone with briliant keyboard, but poor touchscreen, then business phone E07, phone that can not make a photo of contract, invoice or business card. poor design of usb port and 5 months at service did it - my nowadays phone is Apple. Company gave me Asha 300, so frustrating, that I use my old E50 instead...

About ringtones - it was very useful profile option in "old and dead" Symbian. Please put Yourself in average life - You are in office - want to have very silent ringtones, not disturbing Your collegues, then You go out - again - not a few cilks, but holding the volume **bleep**...
Then You go into theater - want to swich off sound and vibro - again - not so easy few clicks... You have to go to phone settings find sound controls etc... and do this stuff... Very convinient... Why newer phone has worse solutions???
I'm from Latvia, so it is quite strange, that phone itself has only few menu languages in 21st century - except of course Latvian. How hard it can be to emit a phone already with regional language???
But about settings - regional settings are available in Latvia - few things are shown in Latvian, but no keyboard layout in this language - i've checked.... Seams strange. The windows for PC itself already for years is in Latvia and has Latvia keyboard layouts etc.. Why for the Phone OS it is so impossible?
And what for in Latvia Office is in Russian? For Russian office there is huge another country called - Russia... Why it is in Russian - the explanation is still not enough understandable... Russians even have another letters - totally different from Latin. Why we need in our country Russian office??? Think about that somefinnish guy in Finland buys phone and also have on phone Russian office... Efvery finn is just happy and says - this is what he is looking for - Russian office on phone that is sold in Finland for Finns... At leat phone could ack - what Office user wants - and change it while one of annoying long updates is proceeded...
About phone firmware... Do You think it is a normal thing that phone starts to work as it should only after long, annoying and at least three updates? For My country - Latvia - this firmware update is still not available... I've checked on Nokia page... there are 30 countries in Europe and Latvia is not listed...
The third question - I tried to copy phone book from old phone using contacts transfer - but I had to face a problem - BT does not work for that purposes despite that only this option is offered... Is it normal? Only possibility os offered through not supported data conection... Cool!
Isn't it a special thing to introduce in market not finished "beta" phones? So unfinished, not enough tested etc?
And you have to admit - Lumia 800 is not a cheep phone. Why people for that money do not have phone usable right from the box, but it means long updating, configuratinga and problems for big money???

  • Lumia 800 really buggy after last update

So far I've had very few issues with the Lumia 800, even though I got one of the very early models. However, after installing the latest update (7.10.8773.98 / 1750.0805.8773.12220) things have really taken a turn for the worse.
The issues I've encountered so far are:
    General:
    - Automatic email synchronization stops working, or works in seemingly random intervals
    - A calendar notification sounds but no message is displayed. Then a couple of minutes later the notification sounds again, this time with the option of acknowledging the reminder.
    - Applications keep crashing on startup; for example email, contacts, weatherduck
    Battery life:
    - The next day after the update the phone was running very hot and the battery ran out in about two hours of absolutely no use. This hasn't occurred since.
    Settings / Accounts & Email:
    - Unable to change email settings (for example, trying to save a different interval does absolutely nothing)
    - Windows Live - unable to sync, Error code 80070490
    - Twitter - unable to connect, Error code 0
    - LinkedIn - unable to connect, Error code 0
    - So basically everything except Facebook is not working
So, all in all I'd say someone has done a great job testing the update.

Hello, and thanks for the reply.
I'm sure there are phones that are working perfectly, it would be doubtful that the update would have been released otherwise. But as you must know, there is a large number of settings combinations (and even apps) that may cause different devices to behave in different ways.
Allow me to clarify: all of the symptoms I described occurred after the update, and none of them existed before, apart from the occasional "phone running hot and battery running out" issue. That is probably due to some background task running amok, but it can always be fixed with a reboot and a recharge.
To answer your specific questions - I have not changed the live account password, or any of the other accounts. And obviously I have rebooted, since the battery ran completely empty. In fact another thing that I forgot to mention was that the phone has rebooted itself a couple of times as well after the update, which was a new issue. Neither have I installed any new apps since the update. I have three apps that are enabled to run in the background; Evernote, IMDb and WeatherDuck, but none of them are running at the moment. And none of them have caused any issues in the past, and it's extremely doubtful that they could affect the entire system so drastically, other than by consuming memory or cpu and causing resource shortages or battery drain.
Also if you take a look at some of the other posts on the forum you'll see that other people have reported similar problems - I found one discussion detailing the exact same thing happening with their email account.

  • To clarify: does the Lumia 800 update fix the batt...

    Hi all
First time poster. I've been reading these boards for a week now trying to figure out, from the various posts and their many sub-pages, whether this update is
    a) available (UK)
    b) effective
My wife and I both like the Lumia 800 but are put off by the very concerning battery and sound issues. We are happy to get one provided we can be sure the recent fix is precisely that. We were looking at O2; has anyone on O2 got the update yet, and what are your findings?
Thanks in advance for any help
p.s. another option is to wait for the 900, but from what I've read the UK release date is simply stated as Q2. Is that the latest?

Well I'm on Vodafone UK; 12070 update appears to have significantly improved mattersfor me.. These days I ignore the 'estimated time remaining' figure, as it seems to be based on tour usage in an unspecified previous period so now merely provides mild interest. However the 'remaining battery life' definitely reduces noticeably more slowly.
Usage-wise, I use functions as I need them.. I don't need 24/7 web connection so turn Cellular or Wifi on as and when. While I'll turn Cellular off asap, I'll often leave Wifi on if I'm not leaving the zone. The phone is almost always turned on; I've never yet used flight mode. Listen to music in the car, but often hook up to a charger while doing this, as I would with any mobile.
I might charge every day, sometimes every couple of days.Depends how much I've been doing.
To put it in context, my netbook (Wifi always on) battery lasts 45 MINUTES  if I'm lucky!
I like it, anyway.. 12070 has definitely enhanced my experience :-)
I also got the latest version of Drive, and while I still don't really 'do' satnav it seems to be improving by degrees. Satnav regulars have other threads going on that one I think.

  • LUMIA 900 - Sound Problem

    Hi
I have posted my findings in the lumia 800 problem but thought I would make a another post Just to highlight the problem with the Lumia 900 as well.
My One Day Old lumia 900 was struggling with the sound from speaker and by the end of the day there was no sound coming from the phone speaker.
But I have found out that if you press between the WINDOWS LOGO KEY and the SEARCH BUTTON the sound comes out just fine.
So This is Basically a Hardware Fault on behalf of Nokia as this seems to be a loose Connection somewhere inside the phone.
I have emailed support and will take the phone back to Phones4U from whom I purchased the phone and will keep you guys updated as to how things turned up.
I am really sad about the events as I was quiet Happy with my purchase.

I had the same problem in my lumia 900. So what i did is first figured out different sound cercuits available to it and check all the options. At last i suceeded. I turned on the alaram and as soon as it rang, it opened up other channels. So give it a try...

  • Nokia Lumia 800 - Stuck on 'Connect to PC' screen

Connected the Lumia 800 to my macbook air using the proper Windows Phone app on the mac. Phone connected no problem, backed up all my photo's and videos onto my macbook. Noticed there was an update available for the phone so I updated.
Towards the end of the update, the phone reset itself as expected and then failed to reconnect to the macbook. The phone was never physically disconnected at any point throughout this process.
The Windows Phone app asked me to connect my device and my device had the 'Connect to PC' image on the screen. Both were connected to each other. I left it sit for approximately 20 minutes and nothing changed so I restarted my macbook and again, nothing changed.
I disconnected the phone and tried a different USB port and the Windows Phone app appeared to attempt to connect for a split second but then stopped, no errors or anything.
I've tried a hard reset on the phone (wolume down, camera, power button) and again, nothing. I've let the phone battery go completely flat, again, no difference. I try plugging it into a direct power source to charge, guess what, no difference.
Right now the phone is sitting here, 'Connect to PC' image stuck on the screen, not connecting to anything. If I hold the power button for a few seconds, the phone vibrates, the screen goes black and after about 20 seconds the 'Connect to PC' screen reappears.
I have honestly tried every combination possible. At this point I don't care if I lose all my contacts and messages, I just don't want to be left with a brick.
Any help at all would be appreciated.
PS: I don't have access to a PC so I'm afraid that option is out. MacBook Air (less than 6 months old) and an ancient Ubuntu laptop but that's it.
Picture of "Connect to PC" screen attached.

  • Lumia 800 turning off randomly

    hi All
I'm having an odd problem with my Lumia 800, that I hope you can help with. The phone randomly shuts down, it doesn't seem to be related to the power levels as it does it when fully charged. It can go 2 days or 5 minutes before doing this. The odd thing is that to turn it back on I have to plug it into my PC, it comes back on immediately... it does not seem to come on if I plug it into the mains. This is a recent issue it worked for a couple of months without any issues.
Any ideas? I'm based in london on an Orange contract. Thanks for you help in advance.

I'm having a similar problem, my 800 switches off in mid conversation sometimes and restarts. This is very frustrating as most of my calls are to clients of my small business. However the caller ID from that call doesn't record as would usually happen. This is not so bad if it's a current client as I can call them straight back on the landline but if it is new business I don't have that option as I have no number :-( (therefore lost business)
I am getting really hacked off with it and could do with a proper answer.
