Lumia 820 & 920 treated as tablets

Hi, i have just recently started to use muse for mobile sites. I have created 5 sites and on my daughters Lumia 820 and my Lumia 920 all sites show as ../tablet/index.html. However with her old 3GS and my iPhone4 the same sites show as .../phone/index.html. This is using IE as the browser. If I use the google app to look up the urls then it only displays the full desktop version. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The notification light using one of the three light at the bottom of the screen has been suggested to Microsoft. No idea if they will adopt it or not.
There is no low power screen saver. Large displays use a lot of power even if there is only a little shown on the screen. However, someone was saying the other day that there is however a clock app available in Marketplace that keeps the screen on to use as a clock overnight. I don;t have the name of the app but I am sure it wont be too difficult to find in the Marketplace. It will have a significant effect on battery life.
You can send suggestions to Microsoft using the link below.

  • Lumia 820 & 920 availability in Estonia???

Is there any information when will be Lumia 820 & 920 be available in Baltic States, for example in Estonia???
    Thanks in advance!

I want to get it with 4G internet with some good deal. Separatly too expensive. And if i will buy it online from other country then i am not sure that local services will take to the warranty. And it cost more in online shops in finland price 599 eur (elisa.fi) amazon 633 eur + delivery and i can't find that  they will send it to the Estonia. In stores which will send to Estonia price is higher then amazon. Why i should pay more if Nokia can't sell them normally. If somebody will tell me that on next week i can buy or we have problems to produce them wait please. Then i will wait for it, but without any information not good.

  • Dont lumia 820 have fm radio?

I am looking forward to buy nokia lumia 820 once is available in India. Recently i have seen some blogs referring that the Lumia 820&920 both doesnt have fm radio?
Can someone from Nokia confirm this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hmm, alright for geeks who sit in darkened rooms over video games but I was led to believe all Nokias have FM radios and this was one of the main plus points as I spend most weekends of the year at a moto GP or F1 race and everywhere in the world from Texas to Taiwan circuits have their own FM station!!  And no I don't want to buy a seperate radio and I hate bluetooth ear pieces as they burn my ear!  I prefer a good old fashioned wired pair of high quality over ear 'phones (like the motorsport guys are wearing if you watch motorsport on TV) and they plug straight into any of my old Nokias and work perfectly.  And if someone rings me to arrange a beer or whatever then I'm already "on the phone".
I have also tried an FM radio app which still pops up - No FM radio Available On This Phone - I am sure this is all fixable between the guys at Nokia and the guys at MS - let's face it they have some of the top guys so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Lumia 820 won't switch to 4G

    Hi,
I have an Lumia 820 phone.
My provider had recently upgraded it's network to 4G, but my phone won't connect to it.
When I manually search for networks, I can see my network with 2G/3G/4G. I have set the max speed to 4G, but the highest speed my phone gives me is H+.
I have been to a shop where they have tested my sim in an Lumia 920 (they didn't have a 820 in stock) but it
    would connect to 4G automaticaly.
My provider uses LTE 1800, wich should be supported by my 820.
Is there an configuration that I missed?
Is there a way to force the phone to use 4G iso 3G?
Is there something else I can test/do?
    I live in Belgium.
    I have version 8.0.10328.78
    revision hardware 1.0.0.0
    Thanks allready!

Yes, the only thing I haven't tried (besides going to my carrier as suggested by Nokia Customer Care) is the master reset. My old phone is a Lumia 900, it has no problem picking up a 4G or LTE signal. When I put my SIM card into the 820 all I get is 3.5G.

  • Nokia Lumia 820 battery

    Goodevening,
I have the impression that the battery of this smartphone is inadequat.
I just did the test :
    - no apps running
    - no calls in or out
    - no messages in or out
    - no search on internet or whatever
The smartphone was 100 % loaded and 24 hrs later, it only shows 40 % !!!
This means that if you are a quit busy user of the smartphone, this means that you have certainly to charge your battery every day, even when your smartphone is new.
What kind of **bleep** smartphone is this ??????
    Regards,
    Karl

  • Lumia 820 turns off by itself

    Hi everybody,
I've had my Lumia 820 for about 2 weeks. At the begining everything was fine, but recently I've had several problems with the device as I mentioned in the title. It turns itself off time to time. It doesn't matter if I'm using it or it's being charged. I called Nokia Customer Service about this issue, and they said I had to give the phone to the service to be repaired. But I heard that the new one also shuts down. I sent some feedback to Microsoft too, but no reply so far. I just want to know if it is about the software or hardware. Does anybody have an idea about this issue?
If the problem is about the hardware I'm sure I'm not gonna buy another Nokia phone in my life. If it's about the software, I hope Microsoft will release an update ASAP.
In my opinion, both Nokia and Microsoft had better find a solution about this issue immediately just before they lose their new enthusiastic customers. Soon it could be so late...
I just can wait for a couple of weeks, then I'm done with both....
By the way, I heard that Lumia 920 and HTC X both have the same problem. So I think it's about the Windows 8 OS.

I have the same issue with my (old) Nokia 3120c.   Customer service has tried to solve it a few times, with no success.  Just runarounds, like (1) it couldn't be, (2) try updating SW version (didn't help), (3) clean battery (didn't help).
What I have discovered is that (1) it is very dependent on location.  Never happens at my rural home, but often happens in big cities.  (2) If I put it in a Faraday cage (like a metal box) it never happens.  (3) It happens even if nobody touches or moves the phone.
At work it happens often.  I find that if I put it on a large metal plate, it stays on, but cannot receive calls.  But if I
put it about 1 cm above the metal plate, it stays on and is still able to receive calls.
Possible conclusion, at least for the Nokia 3120c, but probably for other Nokia phones too, at least in some cases:  it is seeing some sort of RF overload and shutting itself down because of this.
One other point...a different phone of the exact same model which I tested shows the same thing, but much less often.  That is, it is much less sensitive to the suspected overload.
Is it a software issue?  Hard to say.  It could be that the software sees the RF level too high and shuts down the phone as a protective measure.  OR, it could be that some hardware mechanism is operating that shuts down the phone without any software intervention.
I see that there are hundreds of posts with various phone models which complain about this issue, but I have not seen any reply by a Nokia employee.  Frustrating to say the least.
Your experience is very interesting. But I don't think my problem is the same. By the way despite all my feedbacks, no one from Nokia or Microsoft reply me... The most interesting thing is that, I think. I'm considering to change my phone if the problem goes on...

  • Lumia 820 car Bluetooth

My new Nokia Lumia 820 pairs automatically when I turn on the ignition, however when I try to make a call (via the car) , the phone dials, but I can't hear anything through the speakers.
I have to put the phone up to my ear to hear/speak.
The dash shows the call duration and number, as if it was on a call as normal.
When I hang up, the phone shows Bluetooth as being disconnected, but the dash shows the call as still being connected. I hang up using the button on the steering wheel and it clears.
I have to then manually pair both the phone and the car to get it to work.
The car is a 2005 BMW e90 with IDrive.
My previous phone was a LG Optimus 7 with WP7.5 and 7.8, and there were never any issues, it would pair automatically and work perfectly every time.
Is this a WP8 issue or a Nokia issue? Is there any resolution for this?

No hardware update is required. All it needs is the latest software. But like I said, BMW Irelands policy is they will not install the update unless it is necessary and unfortunately pairing a phone which is not on their approved list does not qualify. The only approved Nokia on their list for your car is probably the 6230i. I went in to them and all they did was to bring out a 6230 and pair it and pronounced it working. When I produced my phone, they said it wasn't supported. Problem solved when I started having issues with the HUD and they had to update software for that. All my phones started working after update installed. If you are unable to convince them then €1200 is not worth it and you should just return the phone.  Just to let you know, I have not had problems pairing my 920 and 820 with BMW's. Must be over 10 now at this stage.

  • Nokia Lumia 820 Branded device

    Hi all,
I'm about to get soon a lumia 820 vodafone branded device an i would like to ask about  two things.
    1) what are the differences between branded and unbranded devices?
    2) Will the firmware updates be available on all lumia devices (branded and unbranded) or do i have to wait for vodafone release? And if that, how do i have to wait to get updated?
Thanks in advance. Forgive any mistakes with my english

Typically branded devices will normally have SIM locks applied which means the phone will only accept SIM cards from the network the phone is branded to.
In addition, firmware updates are subject to network approval so there is no guarantee that the network will approve all and future updates.
Also, the length of time it takes for a network to test and approve an update will differ between the various networks. For instance, Virgin Mobile UK used to take approximately two weeks to test and approve updates for my old N8 but other networks would take longer or even less time to approve updates for their branded devices.
Finally, I'd like to point out that I have an unbranded 920 but branded AT&T (a US carrier) 920's have so far been receiving updates long before I have so the idea of unbranded handsets getting updates first doesn't seem to exist anymore.

  • Nokia 'Atlas' Leaked As Verizon's Upcoming Lumia 820 Variant

No news on specs yet but and it's a variant of the 820. The Atlas will sport a 4.3” display and takes on a nicely curved design

The question is where is the 920 variant   Do get me wrong it nice to see a Nokia on VZW but after seeing Nokia's highend device I'm not settleing for anything lower.

I'd suggest waiting to see if anything from this thread or this one come to pass.

  • Lumia 820 and non-Nokia Bluetooth headset

    Hi,
just got a new Lumia 820 and paired my Sonyericsson bluetooth headset HBH-DS980 supporting the v2 A2DP bluetooth profile. Result is that phone calls are working but listening to music over bluetooth is not possible.
Doesn't the Lumia support the standard A2DP bluetooth profile ?
I have used the Headset with Sonyericsson phones, PCs and Android tablets for several yeards so I am bit reluctant to blame the headset in this case ...
Does the Lumia have a non-backwards compatible or proprietary bluetooth stack
In that case I would question the intelligence of the design ...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Issue resolved
Restart of phone + restart of headset and voilá we have sound.
Otherwise OK except for a high pitched whining background noise.
It seems like windows phone is like normal windows, no driver & HW update possible without system restart
Should have thought of that before posting
