Lumia 820 battery drain after "Black" update

Hi all,
Yesterday I finally received the black update on my NL820. After applying the update successfully I charged the phone to %100. Before I went to bed I had:
Battery at %94
Wifi - Off
Data services - Off
Location services - Off
Bluetooth - Off
Battery Saver - On
This morning I wake up and it is unusually bright outside - the phone powered off, the alarm didn't go off and I overslept for work. I haven't touched any other settings after the update. Everything is the way I used it before. What is it that could drain a battery in the space of 8 hours from almost full to power off? I've had this happen on the same phone twice prior to the upgrade as well but then I thought I've forgot data services on or something. This time I'm sure everything was off.

I have been using Lumia 820 since 1 year and have never faced any issues. But after the recent "black" update... my mobile battery drains out within few hours after i charge it 100%. I have to charge it 3-4 times in a day ..
1. I dont have any GPRS connection.
2. I use wifi at home (only evenings). The rest of the day.. I use it only for calls and texts.
3. I have tried hard reset, but that dint help.
4. After hard reset, I dint update my mobile software.
I charge it till 11pm and when I wake up at 5 am .. I see the mobile is switched off and I cant depend on the alarm to wake me up . That makes me so nervous.
Please bring out some solution to this problem. It is so irritating to charge the mobile for so many times in day.

Lumia 820 / battery drain while charging

I have the Lumia 820 with the Navigon navigation app installed. I went on a trip this past weekend and noticed a strange battery drain while driving to my destination. The drive was a little over 2 hours and I was charging the phone the whole time. I figured I would test it on the drive home. I charged the phone completely before starting the drive home. I was camping so I had to use the lighter jack in the car which is always on and charged the phone from less then 10% to 100% overnight. Again the drive was a little over 2 hours, had the Navigon app open and running the whole time and the phone was plugged into the lighter and the charging icon was registering a charge the whole time. The only other thing running was cellular data. NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, Nokia Drive, all off. When I arrived home the phone was at 45% and was very hot.
I upgraded from the Samsung Focus and using the Navigon app in the same car never ever had less power when I I ended a trip to when I started a trip. I use the Navigon app all time so this is a real issue. I am also going to post this on the Navigon website.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't have any problem with charging the phone, but I have another problem with the battery, I noticed that sometimes my battery started to drain so fast (I mean from 100 to 10 in less than 2 hrs!!!), even when I'm not using the phone! and when I pick the phone the area on the right hand side of the rear camera (which I believe the CPU located) is warm (it's not hot but warmer than rest of the phone). I managed my background tasks, etc. but didn't work. It seems that there is bug which sometimes the OS won't release (terminate) the processes (even after closing the app). I tried turn the phone on/off but didn't work until uninstalling the last application that just installed or opened. It happened 3-4 times and the last one was today when I opened my Nokia Music. At first I thought may be it's because of the 3G usage, but even after switching to the X-Box music to stream from my Micro-SD card the battery was draining fast.

Lumia 920 Locks up after Black update

I'm using an AT&T Nokia Lumia 920. My phone had been working fine with the Amber update but as soon as I updated to Black it started hanging and acting weird. These are the symptoms:
1. If I have a device pin setup it hangs as soon as I type in the pin or if I hit the emergency call button.
2. If I don't have a pin, most apps don't start. They say they are loading but after 30 seconds or so they drop back to the start menu.
3. It never successfully reboots, I have to use the soft reset key sequence (power + volume down) to get it to restart.
4. I see missed incoming calls but the phone gives no indication when you're actually calling it.
Things I've tried:
1. Soft reset.
2. Hard reset.
3. Flash to pre Black using Nokia Software Recovery Tool. (no longer possible since it downloaded the black update this morning)
4. Restoring backup after hard reset.
5. Picking all the defaults after a hard reset.
6. Changing the region on startup after a hard reset.
7. Changing the keyboard layouts (remove some, add a bunch). This the one setting I seem to be able to get to.
8. Uninstalled all apps I could (I can't see what games are installed).
9. Flashed back to Original ROM and updated through Phone Updates, after Black is installed, device locks up again.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem? I'm in the US.

that's really a bummer.
I went through the same thing/similar when I updated my 920 to black.
I had to hard format and use the NSRT to reinstall the firmware completely 10-12 times until it finaly took the firmware correctly.
other than that, seems you have done everything you could to troubleshoot it.

IPhone 4 Shuts Off repeatedly and battery drains after ios7 update

This morning at 5:20 am, my alarm went off on my iphone like normal, I plugged my 100% battery charged iphone out of its charger and within 30 seconds it turned off. I quickly plugged it back in the charger and it dropped to 41%. Then as I had to start my morning and get to work and take the phone again out of its charger, it died again. So I got to work, and I have put my phone to "charge" while plugged to the charger, but as time passes, instead of charging my battery it looses life, then I recieved a notification to update my phone, which I did however this did not help my phone, it still continues to turn off once I plug the phone out of the charger.

Same here. My ipad mini used to last weeks, now I can barely get a full day out of it, after I finally updated to ios7. And yes I disabled every possible battery drainer I could find and rebooted. This is clearly to me a bug for the mini, possibly their code that drains batteries on older devices to force people to buy new hardware is running faster than it used to when it would only kill your battery twice as fast, perhaps something else I would hope, but I'm about to hack my device and return to ios 6 as this is absurd. I can put my ipad down for a few hours and pick it up with a 5% drain or overnight with a 70% drain.

Battery drain after last update (5.4.0.4165)

After last update battery consumption went up to 40%, reinnstalled and it dropped to 26%. But that is still way too high. Especially since I barely use it on my phone..

Thanks for submitting feedback about the battery life of Skype for Android. The developers of the app are making great strides to improve the functionality and other aspects, including battery life, so that it runs better for its users!
Skype, by nature, does use more battery than many other apps. It should be understood that it has to constantly contact Skype's servers in order to receive incoming call, chat and contact data. You can reduce the amount of battery usage by closing some other apps that you do not use, reducing screen use time, ensuring that you are in areas with good reception (because cell standby greatly reduces battery) and rebooting the phone after a day or two can make a difference in your battery life.
Remember that the development team has surely made it a priority to make the app consume less battery and kill off the bugs that cause that. They probably have more in store, so just you wait and see! Things could be looking good! With you posting this, they'll take notice and probably work to reduce that 26% usage to something lower in later updates!

Heavy battery drain after OS Update 10.3.1.1779

couple of days ago my phone (Z10) upgraded to new software version 10.3.1.1779. Now the battery barely lasts four to five hours. Usually not more than four. Is this a f****ng joke, Blackberry?!
I checked and I constantly have PIM services at 30-40 %, which is the main battery drainer. Following the suggestions on some of the forums I tried deleting accounts and found one that - being deleted - solves the problem. However, when I add it again it drains the battery again. The point is that i MUST have it on. this is mail only, no calendars, contacts. When I add it I left the phone overnight to download all it needed, 12 hours later PIM services still run at 30-40% all the time.
Reloading the software does not help either.
pls help, I am running out the ideas... I can't keep my phone connected to charger at all times...

After any OS upgrade on a BB10 device, it will take 48-72 hours for the device data syncing of email, contacts, social apps, etc., to complete and finish. High data transfer after an upgrade cause high processor use, which in turn causes high battery usage. Likewise, high processor use will cause some lag and initial slowness. Ignore and and be patient. It can take the 48 hours for all contacts to sync back to the device. And, the battery will recover after a few days. Just don't drain your battery to 10% or less each time, top off the charge. You'll notice a difference after a couple days. Additionally, look at your Device Manager and in the top pull down menu tap LAST 24 HOURSTap the Battery tab at bottom. What are the top 3-4 processes draining the battery?Tap the CPU tab, what are the top 3-4 processes using the CPU?

Hi everybody! Recently updated to win10. No major issues so far. My only problem is the battery drainage. According to specifications, my laptop has a 6 hour work time when unplugged. Ever since I updated, my work time has diminished to 3hrs max. I had no problems woth my battery so far, that's why I believe that it has something to do with either Windows or drivers. I have installed all updates from HP support assistant. I have also tampered with the power saving setting with no success. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

There is a major problem with drivers and Windows 10, because my laptop would not sleep or shut down, unless I did a hard shut down my battery would drain very easily.

After updating my Lumia 1520 to 8.1 Cyan update, the battery drain is very high. The battery is lasting only for 6 to 7 hours when the data traffic is on (under mixed use of 2G and 3G modes). I have noticed few other users were also experiencing heavy battery drain after the Cyan update.
Will there be an update to fix this battery drain issue?
When the phone was in WP 8 Lumia Black update, battery backup was around 24-30 hrs (when data traffic was on).
What will be the workaround for this?

Yep, my 1520 battery drains like a helicopter that's lost it's rotor after this 8.1 update.
I was just boasting last weekend how awesome the battery life was on this phone, I drove 300mi with the GPS w/navigation, did some tethering to my laptop for work, went overnight..no charging, used lightly all the next day, few pictures, email, browsing, phone calls, and drove 300mi back on GPS/navigation and I still had 38% battery left.
I updated to 8.1 sunday night, and on my normal commute to a customer in another state, which under 8.0 would have drained oh...mabey 4-5%, I was at 62% by the time I got to this customer yesteday.
All I did was make a phone call, that's it. All background stuff is not allowed. location off, cortana off, ...still drains.
Bad bad bad news. I'm not seeing much usefull ness out of 8.1, and considering the battery life and no real new features....just gimmicks if you ask me, I'm not sure I want to stay at 8.1 . I'm trying to give it a chance...battery life is still better than my POS samsung androids I've had in the past, but knowing how good it really can be...and no real features in 8.1 (I was hopeing they'd fix the imap email not allowed to map sent/trash/inbox issue)....eshh...what a mess it seems.

Random restarts after Black update Lumia 820

Hi, I have a problem. I had GDR3 developer version without Black, everything was ok, but after Black update, my phone is randomly restarting. I still have the same apps asi without Black. I made hard reset, but nothing, I made hard reset without restoration of my previous data, and it is still restarting. I made software flash over nokia software updater for retail but it is still randomly restarting.
Tell me what to do, because it makes me angry and I'm planning to sell and never buy Nokia Lumia phone again!

I have sam issue on Lumia 720, i never had random restart before gdr3+Black, i did not dev unlocked my phone i did officiall ota. Also i get 8bit color, stuck screen more often now. Soft and hard reset don't help. And i hate to see Nokia don't answer ur question yet.

Please help me solve this problem I travel a lot in middle east and here maps and here drive was best solution for traveling there. Now after black update on my Lumia 820 I can't even open them I don't want to reset my phone because I have a lot of locations saved in maps. I don't know if Nokia is looking into it or not.

Battery drain after update to 10.2

i noticed high battery drain after i have updated to 10.2. i charged phone to 100% yesterday at 16:00 and now 17h later it is 61%. - i wrote 4 sms'es, 1 short phone call, and that's all. i tried restart few times, checked out if network settings are same as before, nothing helps.
battery application is estimating discharging speed at level of 1% every 24 min. before at the same usage it was at least 50 mins. i heard 10.2 has better battery efficiency, but not for me. anyone has similar experiences after update?

Double check that your Network settings are how you want them as after an upgrade they have a habit of changing.
On my Verizon phone it redefaulted to Global which really burned my battery instead of limiting it to LTE/CDMA, once I changed it back battery life was back (or better) than previously.

Lumia 1020 call cut outs after Black update

My calls have problems after Black update. Either reciever can not hear me or I can not hear him for long periods. Tested SIM in other phone on same net on same location and seems to be Nokia problem.
