Lumia 820 LTE firmware?

Hi guys, I have a fairly strange situation, I presently live in Germany and have a Lumia 820 which i purchased off contract in the UK.
I was told when I bought it that it was fully unlocked.
However I have no option to enable LTE in the settings, even though my carrier supports this.
Is there any way to upgrade the firmware or some other method to enable LTE?

As far as I know, the only Lumia's in the UK with 4G enabled are the EE branded handsets. If yours is not one of those then you will have to wait until 4G is available with other networks in the UK. When this happens, Nokia will release a patch to enable it on your phone.

  • Lumia 820 Nokia Warranty

I recently upgraded to a Lumia 820 LTE (with Orange/EE in the UK). During the setup process it was asking me to register my phone for warranty purposes. I didn't have my new sim in the phone yet, so no data was available for the service to connect, so I skipped the registration.
How do I register my phone for the warranty now? I haven't been able to find anything in the phone menus.
    thanks
    Sam

    Hello Samwise Gamgee,
Probably has something to do with your network carrier as i did not get that prompt from memory, when setting up my phone. You will need to contact your network carrier directly, and set up the warranty information over the phone or in person at the store.

  • Lumia 820 and LTE enabled firmware. Czech Rep.

I have Czech distribution of Lumia 820 with LTE disabled. Now all mobile operators in Czech Rep. are starting to build LTE networks - like Vodafone i my area (http://www.vodafone.cz/o-vodafonu/o-spolecnosti/pro-media/tiskove-zpravy/detail/vodafone-spousti-tes...)
When will be new firmware distributed in Czech Rep. for Lumia 820 with LTE bands enabled? Thanks.

No on knows and there is nothing you can do but wait. Not unless you want to follow those unoffical procedures which this forum does not support nor allow.

  • Nokia Firmware 1314 Update for Lumia 820

    Hi,
I am a big fan of Nokia devices. I am currently using Lumia 820, unlocked version in India. My "other" storage has reached to 3GB, and i am left with only 300MB. Everytime i watch you tube videos, the "Other got balooned up.
When the customers in India for Lumia 820 are getting Firmware 1314 update??? Its really URGENT now...

Has this update been released in foriegn countries..... and is this update also meant for nokia lumia 920?
Lumia 920 ATT versions in the US are the first to get .1314 update because of issues.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • 4G option missing on Lumia 820 after Amber update

    Hi
I bought Lumia 820 from singapore (Starhub variant), it was SIM-unlock can use any SIM. i came back to my country Bangladesh. it was working like a power house. i'm ok with the performance. later i faced one power problem issue. i took my handset to Nokia Service center. they fixed the problem as we ll as update my firmware to amber update (which i didnt request to do for Nokia care official. they did it by their own), it was working good, all new feature data sense, sms call block, nokia smart cam, radio etc. every things works fine but i found 4G option is not available in the data selection mode. only 2G & 3G is available. later i checked in nokia web site and found the FW version is for bangladesh only. my question is the FW blocked the 4G option due to no 4G service provider or any other issue. i chose 820 only for LTE option because i traveled a lot to SGP and KL for business purpose and their is 4G service available.
again yesterday my phone got restarted automatically after that i can not sync google contact (only) and my SMS+Call Block option is wiped from the settings menu.
can any one suggest how i can solve this without going to Nokia Care center because local nokia care center service is not good enough to deal with. if no one is available answer my question than i need to visit NOKIA CARE center.
thanks and welcoming expert opinion from expert/pro users.
    cheers
    Sayeed

    hi mate,
if the 4G option was initially present on the phone when you bought it from Singapore, it appears that your local Nokia Care point has flashed the Amber update for your local region (Bangladesh). as LTE services are not widely available in your country, as you have rightly said, 4G is not present in the options.
unfortunately in this case, there is nothing you can do except to go back to Nokia Care and tell them to put the initial firmware (w/Amber, mind you) back onto your device as that was why you bought the device (to use 4G services).

  • My problems with Nokia Lumia 820

I was a big fan of Nokia until two months back when I purchased Nokia Lumia 820. It's been two months and I'm having tough time with the handset.
First it was the heat issue. I know smartphones are tend to get heated up due to processors. But my mobile gets heated up in less than 5 minutes when I play games like real football, wordament and even simple games. I thought I got a bad device out of the box. When I say heated up it's not warm, its hot and uncomfortable hotness. I can't hold my device until the heat subsides. I visited the Nokia care for raising the heat issue but they said they can't do much and updated my mobile to the latest firmware (1308) and asked me to check after the update and the heat issue is still the same. Just when I thought things can't get any worse it did. My mobile has visited Nokia repair factory already twice in less than two months of purchase. The first major problem occurred three weeks back when the display would be switching on and off randomly and finally the mobile got bricked. The screen went blank completely and the device was unresponsive. Along with that complaint I've again raised a complaint about the device getting heated up uncomfortably. 14 days after I submitted my device to Nokia care I got my device back only to find that the screen isn't responsive to touch in the middle within a week's time. The upper part and the lower parts are responsive, it's the middle strip that's not responding to touch.
I've again given my mobile to Nokia care and they have sent it to the repair unit. In two months of my purchase the mobile has spent more than 4 weeks at Nokia repair outlet. It is still undergoing repair in the Nokia repair factory. I had least expected this from Nokia.
Some of my friends who have windows 8 phones from Nokia haven't experienced any problems so far, not even heating problem. It's safe to say that the problem is only with my device.
It's two months old and I've got it from the Nokia priority dealer.
What'd you call a device which spends more than 40% of the time in the repair factory in two months of the purchase. Even the 3 months EMI's haven't been payed fully.
I've encountered lots of inconvenience after purchasing the device.

i am too having the heat issues..of nokia lumia..820 its been 1 mnth i hav been w8in for my nokia lumia to be in my hand...but..its giving too much problms..it gets soo hot widthinn 5- 1- mins.. highly dat i hav to end up d calll..n i kinda felt sensation on my thumb fingr. ..n i m also havin the hanging up issues..but yesterday my phn was hang n the phn was swwitched off...n its still swtich off..,when i chrg the phn no rexn is seen..

  • Lumia 820 won't switch to 4G

    Hi,
I have an Lumia 820 phone.
My provider had recently upgraded it's network to 4G, but my phone won't connect to it.
When I manually search for networks, I can see my network with 2G/3G/4G. I have set the max speed to 4G, but the highest speed my phone gives me is H+.
I have been to a shop where they have tested my sim in an Lumia 920 (they didn't have a 820 in stock) but it
    would connect to 4G automaticaly.
My provider uses LTE 1800, wich should be supported by my 820.
Is there an configuration that I missed?
Is there a way to force the phone to use 4G iso 3G?
Is there something else I can test/do?
    I live in Belgium.
    I have version 8.0.10328.78
    revision hardware 1.0.0.0
    Thanks allready!

Yes, the only thing I haven't tried (besides going to my carrier as suggested by Nokia Customer Care) is the master reset. My old phone is a Lumia 900, it has no problem picking up a 4G or LTE signal. When I put my SIM card into the 820 all I get is 3.5G.

  • Lumia 820 Music Sync issue.

I installed 16GB micro SDHC card into my Lumia 820 and set as default for music and pictures. I try to sync music between my mac and phone. But the end of the sync, error message comes up which says all the music can't be copied. When I check the storage section on my phone. Music and video shows 0 and  seems like all the music is in "Other" section. Couldn't see anything under "Music". Tried Google and can't find any solution. Please anybody can help me. Thanks a lot.

I have also experienced the same issue and wasted about 4 hours of my life yesterday attempting to deal with it.
Music syncing to SD is horribly broken on the 820, on both 1232.2109.1242.1001 (original) and 1232.5951.1249.1003 (portico) firmwares.
I have ended up in a state where I have had to factory reset to fix the mess on 2 occasions now, on both original and portico firmware. This issue is definitely not fixed in portico.
For some obscure reason, particularly when using the desktop sync app, if it fails and tries again the music app gets very confused and displays an array of duplicates. If you perform an SD card format whilst in this state, the music app still 'thinks' that some of the music is still there and displays it as such. The only way to fix this erroneous display is to factory reset, which is far from ideal.
A workaround to the duplicate issue is to *not* use the desktop Windows Phone app, which seems to be horribly broken.
The Metro app often says that it 'Cannot copy the file to your phone' but it actually has without any issues, go figure.
I also noticed that some SD cards simply don't work properly in the 820.
I firstly tried a brand new Samsung 32GB which intermittently stopped working when syncing, dragging and dropping, and downloading on the phone causing the store to refuse to open necessitating a reboot.
I'm currently using a Transcend 8GB which does not exhibit that problem.
I tested the Samsung on my PC and it works fine, but I returned it to Amazon as faulty and exchanged it with a Sandisk 32GB, so I'll see what happens with that when it arrives I guess.
I don't know if this is a Nokia issue or a Microsoft issue. But someone needs to step up and fix this, because a 'switcher' from another platform will return the device immediately.
I've been a Windows Phone user for some time (Omnia 7, Lumia 800, then 820), but seriously, this issue was really making me consider my choice of platform.
Music syncing to SD *needs* to work and it needs to work reliably.

  • Frequently hanged after GDR2 update in Lumia 820

    Hi Experts
i'm using Lumia 820. last august i update my Lumia 820 to GDR2 update aka Amber update. I purchase my handset from sigapore using Starhub promotoion but it was a open handset. later i came to bangladesh and face some problem with power. i took it to my local nokia care center. than they update it to GDR2 after that my handset is frequently hanged. it hangs when i switch on the WiFi or data connection.
I suspect my OS is not loaded 100% correctly.
    My device is information
    OS version: 8.0.10328.78
    Firmware version: 3047.0000.1328.3001
    HW revision number: 1.0.0.0
    Radio Sw version: 1.0.202132.3
    Chip SoC version: 8960.
another interesting thing is after this GDR2 update my 4G version is no more available.
please suggest what should be my setps to make this device stable.it was stable with the old FW but after GDR2 it is not stabel. i love Lumia/WP8. it is 100% fit with my life style.
i dont want to take this device to local nokia care agina. i dont trust them. please advice how i can improve my device without taking it to Nokia care.
    thanks for every expert comments.
    regards
    Sayeed

You can try resettng it but if it doesnt resolve, I suggest you bring it back to the care point so they can reflash it. I suspect they may have used the wrong version.

  • 4G support for Lumia 820

After launch of 4G LTE on 1800 MHz band in Pakistan can i expect Microsoft Devices to enable 4G in my Lumia 820 through the upcoming Denim update? Currently although i have a LTE sim, highest connection speed is shown as 3G. I have read on a blog that denim or 4G connectivity may not be offered for 820. I would emphasise that someone from Microsoft Devices may kindly clarify so i may plan to ditch my phone in case this is true!

Microsoft have inherited Nokias way of doing things, so they work with local operators to have the phones approved to use on the particular network before releasing updates, and before enabling new features. Other vendors may release phones and updates and hope it will work. My friends often complain about dropped calls on expensive, competing phones, something that has never been an issue on my Nokia phones.
The particular trouble with LTE/4G is that phone calls still need 2G or 3G in most areas. This fallback is not trivial to do, since it is very different technology. Also since there are at least three major network hardware suppliers (Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei) to provide the equipment for the cell towers, this in itself can be challenge. There are official industry standards to ensure compatibility of course, but I prefer something that is tested and approved for my region.
LTE is still work-in-progress. I keep the money for a new phone in my pocket until my operator enables phone calls on 4G (VoLTE) which completes a phone call in less than a second, instead of an up to 10 second wait. the long-range 700Mhz frequencies for rural areas will be nice too, and then there is carrier aggregation for even higher data speed. It is nerdy stuff, but that is how I am.
It is very unlikely that you will get an official response from Microsoft, so I hope this helps.

  • Doubt about with update Win Phone 8 - Lumia 820

    Good afternoon,
I bought my lumia 820 1 month ago. The OS is 8.0.10211.204, firmware 1232.5957.1308.0001 and my IMEI is 35xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
My device does not identify the new firmware update "... 1314 .." launched a few weeks.
I know that my phone company here in Brazil (VIVO) is the responsible to provide this update, but I wanna know how I can update my celphone without depending my phone company.
Moderator's Note: IMEI was removed. Please don't publish the unique serial numbers of your device on a public web forum.

    Good article.

  • Lumia 820 software update problem

I got notified via mail that phone update for Lumia 820 is released and available now for my device but when i manually tried to search it shows "we are unable to check for updates" plz some solution would be appreciated....Help!!!

Try a soft reset by holding both Volume Down and Power buttons pressed until phone vibrates and restarts. You will not lose any data or settings except possibly date and time.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the camera from settings > applications > photos+camera > reset camera.
If that doesn't help, try a hard reset from settings > about > reset your phone
If that doesn't help, try a full clean firmware reinstall using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool
If that doesn't help, take your handset to a Nokia Care Point to have it checked/repaired.

  • HELP for LUMIA 820 buy advise

    Hello
    am from india
in few days i gonna buy Lumia 820
over internet i been serching i found problem in nokia music
    so my 1st question
1.. is lumia 820 come along nokia music 1 year subscription ?
2.. in shop seal box  how i can identify  and be asure its not imported from another country ?
i mean its for India not for uk or us .. i mean the firmware in it is for india.. ( i know my question is wired but plz help )

If the phone is a variant for India, China and Indonesia, it should have the subscription.
If you can get the product code frmo the box you can search that online and you will know the country the phone is for.
If you cannot do that then I recommend that you purchase the phone from a Nokia authorised store in India. An authorised store will not sell an import (except in Europe maybe).

  • Lumia 820 RM-824 cellular 2G/3G setting

Hi, I have Lumia 820 (AT&T unlocked), since AT&T doen't allow it's customers to set 2G or 3G (only automaticaly), I am not able to do it too. But I am not AT&T customer. There was option in previous firmware to change cellular by special code ##3282 but since this code is not official in last firmware it was disabled, is there any change to get any international firmware to my phone? I live in Tajikistan that is far away from US, I love my phone but I cannot use it without cellular changing feature.....
    my current firmware is 1232.5962.1314.0001

Only qualified and authorised Nokia technicians are allowed to use the software and tools required to carry out the procedure. The procedure also has the potential to "brick" a device so therefore it would void the warranty on the phone. The forum guidlines do not allow any member to discuss any procedure that has the potential of voiding the warranty on a Nokia handset.
