Lumia 822 - denim - no camera

My Lumia 822 upgraded to Denim, but now the camera button does not work.  There is no "Camera" or "Photos" listed in the Apps list.
I have re-booted it several times.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks for your help.

@fiVE,
I had this problem when I updated my Lumia 822 as well. The camera did not work, I had two Game icons and one would not work, I had no ability to get into pictures, some of my built in apps like the alarms had no graphics on the button, things looked REALLY odd.
Take into account that this is a phone that was put out before 8.1 so making 8.1 work on it may take some tweaking and some patience.
I ended up resetting the phone back to factory defaults. (Go to Settings and then About. There is a button at the bottom to reset your phone) I was expecting this to bring me all the way back to Windows 8 again, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it brings the phone back to a base Windows 8.1. When I started setting up my phone, I told it that I did not want it to restore any previous phone settings and I wanted to start from scratch.
I am still in the process of re-building my phone which does kind of suck, but knowing the phone was not necessarily designed for 8.1, I am okay with that. The only issue that I am currently experiencing at the moment is the Verizon Backup Manager does not want to connect. I get an error on that. But I will continue to work with that as I go. But I have the camera, I have the ability to see my photos, I can setup a background picture, my apps all have icons on them, everything looks like it should and outside of the backup assistant, it works like it should.
My guess is that there was some residual junk in an app or something that was not compatible with 8.1 and was causing my headaches. I would bet that you are in the same boat and with some patience and work, you will get your phone back.

  • Lumia 822-Denim update, good or bad?

I downloaded the long awaited windows 8.1 to my lumia 822 this morning but found that it has taken away my ability to take, view, and send pictures. I'm guessing that this is a bug but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had better luck?Lu

I had the same issue. Along with some other oddities that showed up. I know that it is not what most people want to hear, but I ended up having to reset the phone back to factory and rebuilding it from the ground up. I did not let it restore any of my previous settings. (It may have been fine, but I didn't want to take the risk)
This is work, but remember you are loading a new OS onto a device that was out before the OS was so there may be some work and tweaking that needs to be done to make it work.

  • Lumia 822 lacks good ereader and camera sucks

Lumia 822 lacks decent app to enjoy books and magazines and camera sucks
I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 because it allowed use of a micro SD card which would expand available memory and because it came with Office.  I have been happy with the SD card capability (although today I had to reseat the SD card because the card doesn’t snap into place, it just kind of sits there – I ended up losing all my photos from March 2013, but, hey, at least the majority were there).  Office is functional though I wouldn’t be able to do major spreadsheets in it.  I also had to send back my original phone for a refurbished phone when it crashed about a week after that major update.  I wasn't happy about receiving a refurbished phone, considering what a personal item a cellphone is.
While I knew apps were a limitation being on the bleeding edge of technology, I assumed they would emerge soon enough and was willing to wait.  I bought the phone in November 2012 and as of today (April 2013), there still is no decent app with which to buy books and magazines.  This is a major bummer.
As an amateur photographer, I find the Nokia Lumia 822 Windows Phone camera incredibly disappointing on its own and particularly with respect to the iPhone 5.  This is in stark contrast to Nokia’s assertion that they will set themselves apart with their cameras and comes after a February (or March?) 2013 update that was supposed to fix the camera’s color issues.  It previously had a green tint, which improved with the update but the color is still not great.  Just to note up front, I am not an Apple fanboi by any stretch, preferring the Microsoft Surface as opposed to the iPad3 (both of which I have owned).
The Lumia 822 camera takes forever to focus and shoot once you’ve hit the screen.  If you instead choose to shoot using the camera button, you have to press so hard that the phone inevitably shakes.  The pictures come out blurry with  washed out colors no matter what you do.  Taking the same shot with the iPhone 5, it shoots quickly and comes out crystal clear, with vibrant colors.  I have noticed that the largest photo size on the Lumia 822 is like 2 MB, while it is over 4 MB on the iPhone 5.
Today, when I tried to send some photos from my brother’s iPhone 5 to the Lumia 822, I noticed that Apple provided 3 choices – the original photo size, which was like 4.5 MB, a medium photo size and a small photo size.  Such choices are not available on the Lumia 822.  In any case, I chose the original size of 4.5 MB and when I received the photo on the Lumia 822 chose Save to Phone.  Yet when I forwarded my mom that same photo from my Lumia 822, it sent as 850 KB.  I don’t know how to see the size of the photo that was saved on my phone but I’m guessing it wasn’t 4.5 MB for whatever reason.
I had been psyched about the upcoming Lumia that was a 41 megapixel camera but now I even have doubts about that.
I actually bought Nokia stock, some at $3.56 and some at $4.58, but I’m starting to regret it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think you should have picked 920 instead of 822, I believe their new release 720 has better camera than 820/822.
I bought 920 for my brother as present, he is a good man and always wanted to upgrade his old phone to smartphone era.. Anyways, 920 felt superb, camera seemed quality wise similar to my Iphone 4s, which was excellent camera for smartphone, but it also added OIS and some nifty photolenses, like that animation edit thing and excellent other features that made my own Iphone pale in comparison.
As what comes to me, I bought Nokia 808 over 920 which I now regret. Quality wise 808 is WAYYY superior even to my Sony Alpha 300 SLR with basic lens. I still cannot believe how sharp and realistic images I get. Add excellent video recording and that lossless zoom, I absolutely love it. But as compared into Iphone as a phone and portable media device Nokia Pureview 808 is so bad! Browsing internet is worse, watching videos is worse, settings are mess up.. Its usable but I would give it an poor grade as a SMARTPHONE, as this tiny camera; Superior.
920 would have given me Excellent camera with all the other great sh*t Nokia offers nowadays.
I am waiting 920 + 808 combo Lumia with 41Mpx lossless zoom and OIS, with water proof and solar energy!

  • Issues with Denim update; Lumia 822

    Good Day,
I have installed the newly available Denim update for my Lumia 822. But not without some glitches. If anyone can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it!
    Problems (by #):
    1. The pictures/photos tile no longer works. It just bounces back to that part of the screen. It says on it: "@C:\Programs\Photos\PhotoRes.dll,-2002." It shows on it the Sample Pictures on the SIM Card. The built in camera did the same thing until one of the restarts. It's not my SD card, which has my photos/images on it - the music app sees the music fine.
What else I think is related to this particular problem: Under Settings/Applications/photos+camera, I cannot get into photos+camera; I cannot get into Settings/Storage Sense; under Settings/Backup, I cannot go into auto upload for photos+videos.
    What I've done:
    * Took out the battery.
    * Took out the SD Card, rebooted the phone without it, then put it back in again. When I turned on the phone, it did not come up with the usual question about where to change photos/videos, etc.
    * Deleted all pics off the SD card.
    * Put a couple of pics back on the SD card.
    * Took a pic with camera to see if that would make the photos tile work. Nope. Not even the new pic from the camera helped.
    * When into camera's settings and asked it to "find photos and videos." Nope.
Nothing has changed. It's not working. How can I get this to work?
    2. My glance screen does show the weather even though I asked it to through Bing Weather app. This is something I thought Denim was supposed to offer.
    3. The wallpaper for the tiles screen - I don't see that setting anywhere, but it looks like Denim is supposed to have it.
    4. The following app files in the apps list (not on the main screen) show up as blank, gray squares: Alarms; Calculator; Games (shows up twice, one as a gray box, one as the xbox symbol); Settings; Wallet. What's with this? Which "Games" do I choose and do I delete one?
    5. All the individual games are showing up in my apps list, and are all still listed under my Games app. Weird.
    6. Xbox Music app has changed for the worse; I ended up downloading and using another music app instead.
    7. Xbox Games used to show my Avatar be-bopping around the live tile; now it doesn't. So much for spending THAT money. I know, it was stupid, but fun.
    Thank you!

    Hi @avtir ,
Thanks for the feedback confirming the trouble is solved.
Temporarily disabling the real-time scanning in the antivirus software speeds up the download, both of the recovery tool itself and the firmware files, at least on my Windows-7 PC with MS Security Essentials. - The files are clean, the download just slows to a crawl if the real-time scan is enabled.
As the Original Poster you may unmark a post as the solution, and then mark another as the solution if you wish.

  • Camera on Lumia 822 Developer Preview Update 8.1 GDR1 not working, needs Cyan.

About 5 months ago when the 8.1 Developer Preview was released I went ahead and got it on my Lumia 822. Everything was going great. It worked flawlessly until Updated 8.1 to the 3rd small update that was released for it. Soon after my camera stopped working and soon after that my GPS started displaying very inaccurate results. When I use any app that uses the camera it instantly crashes and I know it is a firmware issue because neither camera works. Both cameras cause the app to crash if it tries to use the camera. I updated to 8.1 GDR1 thinking it would fix it and it didn't. This happened to me 4 months ago. The community says Cyan will fix it. I have had to deal with this for 4 months. 2 months waiting for Microsoft to give it to phone companies and now 2 months waiting for Verizon to push it out. Could someone at Verizon please give an ETA? I wasn't able to take pictures all summer. Not of my summer vacation or anything. I'm begging you Verizon to push the update. At least just for Lumia 822. I'm not the only one with this issue. If you go to the WPCentral forums or just Google it, many more people are having the same issue. I know I was risking it by using a "beta OS" but come on. Updates shouldn't take this long to get pushed.

No one told you to download or install the Microsoft Developer Preview.
That is not a Verizon wireless issue. It is a Microsoft issue.
maybe you can remove it and roll back until the real updated OS is shown to be stable and available.
And this is for both posters.
I can just imagine all the posts complaining how the updates caused this not to function or that no longer works when Verizon has nothing to do with those issues either.
After it is released by the cell carriers.

  • Nokia Lumia 822 Lumia Denim Update from Verizon

    Hello All,
I have enrolled in Developer Preview on Nokia Lumia 822. My WPhone got windows 8.10.14219.341
The firmware version is 3051.40000.1352.0042 and it shows Lumia Black in the extras + info.
When I got the Verizon update, i tried to update several times.
It successfully downloads and prepares to install.
When it reboots and try to install the patch, it finishes quickly.
    I get the message:
It's probably a temporary problem. To Try again, go to settings > Phone Update 0x80188308.
What should I do to get Lumia Denim update on my phone? Reset the phone ?
    Please advise.

    Hi TechGuru72,
Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community.
Your phone is not running in commercial software because of the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program. Note that it is only intended for developers. In this case, we recommend that you use the Lumia Software Recovery Tool to return it back to the normal commercial software. • Lumia 822 camera has greenish tint indoors

My Nokia Lumia 822 camera has a greenish tint when used indoors.  Outside seems OK.  I heard a fix was coming but every time I click on Phone Update, it says my phone is up to date.  Any info on when I can expect a fix?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a 822 the next day after purchasing it went solid green. I did the power cycle and it went away. However, every single picture I take has a green line on the boarder on one side and green tint. This has to be know to Nokia and a fix needs to be issued soon. Otherwise sales representatives aren't going to push their products. I know I'm the one doing the demo for my company to determine whichever win8 mobile handset we go with. So I will have to point this out in my review if not corrected. So Nokia lets fix this asap please. This is the one I want to recommend, not the competition.
This is last week of march. February has come and gone. Where is the fix? Too many people noting these green problems on new equipment to be offered refurbs spells class action suit brewing down the road. If it is a code fix do it. If hardware do cross replacements with "NEW" unopened units. Leaving and ignoring leads to disaster in cost and reputations. Spend now, fix. Side step now, disaster later.

  • Lumia 822 with Denim (Developer Preview) freezing

    Hello,
I have two Lumia 822's (Verizon) both on the Developer Preview updates.  One has received the Denim update and one has not.  The phone on the Denim update freezes constantly.  I have done a factory reset on the phone with no improvement.
Can anyone tell me how to either fix the freezes or move to a different version?
    Solved!

Denim update is not released for your handset, you are experiencing a bug in the extras+info app which shows Lumia Denim incorrectly. I would suggest that you try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool for a complete clean reinstall of the firmware. Please back up before you do it.

  • Another request for Lumia 830 Denim update information

I have the AT&T variant of the Lumia 830 and am waiting for a firmware update to fix two issues. However, there has been no communication as to when this firmware update will be released. I have only a short window to return this device and if I do not know when the firmware will be released, I would prefer to return it now and buy something else rather than waiting for several months. Let me be clear. I'm looking for specific availability dates and not a vague assurance that it's coming "soon" and that I should keep checking to see if it's out. If this information is not available now to Customer Support, please make the effort to reach out to the responsible team that does have this information. Even a date range specified in terms of days, months, or weeks would be helpful, along with any details that can help us understand why there is a delay. Of course, even better than knowing the release date would be having the firmware update pushed to my phone today. So that you can understand why I am eager to get this update, I've provided additional information below. I realize that this issue has been raised in other threads, but I'm adding as much detail as possible here so that I can refer to this post from support calls and any attempts to escalate my issue.   My Lumia 830's details Settings > About > More InfoOS Version: 8.1.14176.243Firmware version: 02040.00012.14404.07019Settings > Extras+InfoSoftware release: Lumia DenimManufacturer name: RM-983_1001 (AT&T variant) If you compare the AT&T variant to all other variants of this device in North America, you will note that the AT&T variant IS NOT RUNNING THE CURRENT VERSION of firmware found on all the other North American Lumia 830 variants (as of 6/29/ 2015): Canada    Lumia 830Country variantDenim8.10.14234.37502040.00021.15063.02001Lumia 830Bell MobilityDenim8.10.14234.37502040.00021.15063.02001Lumia 830RogersDenim8.10.14234.37502040.00021.15063.02001Lumia 830TelusDenim8.10.14234.37502040.00021.15063.02001United States    Lumia 830Country variantDenim8.10.14234.37502040.00021.15063.02001Lumia 830AT&TNot available yetNot available yetNot available yet  Specific Problems with the Current Firmware There are at least two specific problems with the outdated firmware available on the AT&T variant. First, the Lumia Camera application does not work and second, the Netflix app will not play videos. Lumia Camera app does not work Lumia Camera is an alternate camera app from Microsoft for recent Lumia phones that provides additional features that are unique to Lumia devices. However, when you start Lumia Camera (version 2015.507.1236.978, last updated 5/13/2015), it displays an error message: UPDATE YOUR PHONE.Lumia Camera requires the Lumia Denim software update. For example, a Microsoft Support Engineer noted on the Microsoft forum site that: Lumia 830 shipped with Denim already from the factory (and many of the "Denim" features, like Live Folders, were already included) - but in order to use the new Lumia Camera version, this slighly smaller software update is needed.   It looks like this issue has been known and the fix has been available on some European variants since at least February, see The UK Lumia 830 gets Lumia Camera 5 and.... a working Netflix!. Paul Thurrott also notes that "the version of Denim that shipped with the Lumia 830 was not the final version" and that that the firmware update is needed for Lumia Camera in Lumia 830 + Denim: What You Get, What You Don’t. There are also many other threads about this in the AT&T support forums such as:Full Denim release for Lumia 830?Lumia 830 Denim Firmware UpdateLumia 830 Firmware updateand (amusingly):Lumia 830 Firmware update hostage crisis continued - day 184 We live in a world where continuous delivery has become standard in software engineering and it is extremely disappointing to see that timely releases of software to maintain our devices is such a low priority for AT&T. With customers holding onto devices for only two years, it's unacceptable to leave a phone partially functional for six months or more. I have gone to some lengths to document this issue and I expect at least a similar level of effort from AT&T to try to help me and all the Lumia 830 owners experiencing these problems. Thanks in advance, Mike

Thanks for replying. While I was half-hoping that my lengthy plea might have been the straw that broke the camel's back, I can't say I honestly expected AT&T to change their policy and suddenly start delivering more timely releases of firmware updates with greater transparency about the process. As for me, I only had a small window of time to return the handset to AT&T. Having heard nothing, I figured that the safest course of action was to buy a carrier-unlocked RM-985 from a reputable retailer. After it shows up tomorrow, I'll still have time to return the AT&T variant. With Windows Phone 10 arriving shortly, this should ensure that I get that upgrade at least a month or two before users with the AT&T branded device. I'll also be able to lower the monthly bill, so that's a big side benefit. It's unfortunate that this is how AT&T operates. I imagine that they get more than a few returns of the device from people who couldn't get Netflix working and this has to be costing them some money.  It certainly makes Windows Phone/Microsoft look bad as well, although they did ship the device with buggy firmware in the first place, even if they did provide a fix.  Supposedly with Windows 10, Microsoft will no longer be allowing carriers to block phone updates, so the situation should improve. M

  • Any good Lumia 822 case retailers?

My brother just gave me an early Christmas present:  the Nokia Lumia 822 windows phone.  I am really psyched and have already added an additional 32 GB micro SD card.  The ability to add extra memory is a huge plus.  I then transferred 4 GB of music and lots of photos directly to the card.  I also imported my Contacts from Windows Live Mail.  So I am now ready to roll!
But before carrying the phone around in my purse, I would like a good case for the phone.  I have done about an hour's worth of searching on the internet for a cool case, but to no avail.  There seem to be very few available and the ones that are have no imagination.
Does anyone know a good case retailer with some novel Lumia 822 cases or when Zazzle might be introducing cases for the Lumia 822?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Per my brother -- he popped the back of the phone off, took out the battery, slipped micro SD card into slot and it clicked in, replaced the battery, replaced the cover.  Then turned phone on and it said, "I found an SD card.  Would you like to store all your music, video and pictures on it?" and he said, "Yes"  Then, he connected the phone to the computer via cable that came with phone.  We downloaded Windows 8 phone to the computer.  It said, "What music would you like to import to phone -- itunes library, xbox library or other locations?"  We said, "Itunes" and it copied pretty fast.
I actually did the photo transfer but I can't remember how.  I had an iPad3 (purchased in June), a Surface RT (just purchased) and now this phone.  All these purchases were because my brother is in IT and wants to know how the devices work for his work. But it gets confusing to remember!

  • Lumia 822 App download/update stuck in "pending"

    Hi all,
Recently starting having issues with my phone (Lumia 822) that mostly seem to be connectivty related (I'm guessing).
About a month or so after updating to WP 8.1/Lumia Denim I began to have several data related issues.
    1. Data Sense stopped working to the point that I can't even open the app. Attempts to "resume" then kicks back to the start screen.
    2. A short time later my apps stopped downloading, both updates and new.
    3. Then i started having issues with my Here Maps saying it can't connect to the maps library right now. The apps actually don't do anything now so I'm guessing my old maps are corrupted or gone.
I tried a number of fixes including checking time and date, removing and reseating my SD card, reseating my SIM card, enabling/disabling installing apps on the SD card, enabling/disabling auto update, enabling/disabling downloading only over Wi-Fi. No change. About a week ago I bit the bullet and wiped my phone. Everything started working again and I figured my issue had cleared. Well it's back again, same issues and I am at a loss for fixing it. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So I finally resolved the issued. date+time was the culprit, though not in the way I thought it would be.
    To fix:
    1. Go to settings>date+time
    2. Turn off "Set date and time automatically"
    3. Check your time zone - mine was blank.
    4. Change your time zone to another zone. (didn't seem to matter which)
    5. Back out of time zone settings and see if time zone is no longer blank. (should be displaying the chosen time zone)
    6. Go back to home screen
    7. Go to settings>date+time
    8. Turn on "set date and time automatically"
    9. Restart phone
    10. Make sure app updates are set to update automatically
    11. Within about 15 minutes your first "pending" app should start to update
I'm guessing that after the update the phone either didn't pull the right time zone or was confused on it. I had manually set it during one of my first attempts to fix the issue, but apparently manually setting it to the same one that it was on didn't fix it. I'm guessing it needed to pull it from the cell tower. I noticed after daylight savings kicked in earlier that my time was always off by an hour. It seemed like the phone was on Central Time (I'm in Eastern Time Zone USA) but when I manually set it to Eastern, even though it showed it in time zone settings, when I backed into date+time it would show the time zone field blank. I set it to Central Time, backed out then reset to automatically pull and within 15 minutes my phone was working right again.
This fixed my "pending" app download issue, my time issue, my data sense issue, pretty much everything is working as it should again. I'll update if I notice anything else wrong. But for now this resolved my issue.
Thanks for all the help everyone!

  • Is the Nokia Lumia 822 buggy?

So I am in search of a new phone because I am overdue for an upgrade and my phone is not being reliable. I would care less about being able to upgrade as long as my phone works but that's not the case right now.
I been through a Droid 2, which I was dissatisfied with battery life, often crashes and long restart time. Anyways I cracked the screen multiple times and now it's put away. A friend sold me his Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S1) and I was also dissatisfied with battery performance, crashes, and reboots. The worse is loosing contacts and application information. I gave up on setting up my emails because it has failed on me so many times and what really **** me off was loosing contacts.
Anyways I read a few reviews of the Nokia Lumia having trouble receiving text msg is this true ? Was this true, does it still happen ?
Help me out guys, I want a reliable phone.
    My top priorities
    - Battery Life
    - Stable
    - Price
    - I heard that they have good cameras does this model have a good camera also if so it would be a huge plus.

My wife currently has the Nokia Lumia 822.  She has the white version of it.  She never said that she would get used to the virtual keyboard on a smartphone (she tried using my HTC Trophy) but she loves the phone!  As far as buggy, she hasn't been having any of the problems that have been reported on the forums.  She has only had it freeze once, but I assume that it will be fixed once the Portico update is pushed out around MWC 2013.  She has had the phone for over a month.
She can receive group messages just fine.  She can get around a day and a half out of the battery.  It's a great phone.  You might have some minor issues, but like I said, she hasn't had those issues and it will be fixed once we get the Portico update.
I can say that you would be satisfied with the Lumia 822.  It's a great phone.

  • Nokia lumia 822 - out of luck I guess

I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 when I renewed my contract. Early on the phone was randomly turning itself off during the day and at night. I do not have a land line at home and this is also my business phone. Random shut downs are not safe at night nor good for getting business calls.
In order to get it to come back on I have to either remove the battery or hold the power and volume button down for 20 seconds.
I stuck it out after reading in Verizon's forums that this was a common issue and might be fixed in a software patch release by Nokia/Microsoft.
After several patches and a recent (this week) reset to factory settings the problem has persisted. Just this week it has happened over 15 times causing missed calls.
    No software updates have helped.
The Verizon / Nokia forums still have numerous posts complaining of this issue but Verizon / Nokia does not seem to be aware of it or want to acknowledge it...
I had to reactivate my old Droid X on my line to keep a reliable phone powered on.
I did have a phone and email conversation with technical support who promised a solution and never got back to me. Now she will not respond to my emails.
I don't think another Nokia product will be purchased again.

this is the OS, not phone.  it is happening to other Nokia windows phones as well.  i've had this phone for approx 2 mths and have been told by verizon tech support that microsoft was supposed to issue the patch to correct this issue by the end of june.  ha!  i've made repeated calls to tech support, now they say patch delayed till end of july.  HA! again!!  sad part is, verizon has known this was an issue and continued to sell the phones.  i tried to return my phone within the 2 week period, but was told that the 2 weeks start on the day you ordered the phone, not received and activated it.  now i'm stuck for 2 years with a piece of crap phone.  no more windows phones for me.  i missed the 2 week mark by 24 hours.

  • Lumia 822 wireless charging: really misleading, No...

    Quite annoyed by this:
If you look under Lumia 822 specifications, they say this:
    http://www.nokia.com/us-en/products/phone/lumia822/specifications/
    (Under Hardware):
    Wireless connectivity
    Bluetooth 3.0
    Near Field Communication
    Wi-Fi Channel bonding
    WLAN IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n
    Qi Wireless charging
However, as it turns out, 822 also requires a wireless charging shell? For the 820, at least you see that as a listed option under Accessories, but for the 822, it is not there?
I dunno - seems wrong to me; why not have a "*" is there is a footnote needed that wireless charging shell is needed? I guess I'll keep the dual wireless charger I bought for the future with the hope that shells will become available and will not cost too much?

@slaverenz-     read the user guide: http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/pdf_guides/devices/822/Nokia_Lumia_822_UG_en.pdf

In order to charge wirelessly, NFC must be enabled.  I talked to Nokia support on the phone.  NFC is necessary to connect the phone to the secondary device, whether it be a charging plate or headset, etc.  When one goes to the settings and turns on NFC, only NFC sharing is enabled.  When the shell that has not been released becomes available, it contains an NFC contact point (square) that must touch with another device to activate (the center of the charging plate for example.  The phone does not charge via NFC, but connects wirelessly to the charging plate through it.
