Lumia 920 black screen phonecall / texts

When i get a text message, my phone makes the sound but the screen stays black. The same also goes for my alarm. It's really annoying since it's been going on for a while - restart doesn't help and it's not on energy saving mode. Does anyone know about this?
But what is even worse...
is that when i get a phonecall and I answer it, the screen goes black when the phone goes near my head (yes, ofc). But when i take the phone away form my face when the call is over, IT STAYS BLACK. And i cant do anything. I cant touch the screen, cant unlock the screen/phone or anything. I can only wait until it has ended the call completely and then use my phone. Usually you can just hang up by yourself. And i can't reach my Dialpad (? what's it called) and all the other functions when in a conversation.
So it basically means that Im trying to avoid phonecalls at the moment, since they give my phone a temporary blackout.
IT REALLY BOTHERS ME.

Sounds like the proximity sensor is getting activated. Did you get a new screen protector or case recently which may be covering the proximity sensor which is right next to the front camera? If not then a bit of dust may have found its way in behind the glass at the proximity. If this is the case you could try blowing it out. If that doesn't work, you will need to send it to your local Nokia Care Point so they can clean it for you.

Black screen with text LOGIN what to do?

A few years ago I gave my oldest nephew my old G3 iBook when I purchased my G4 iBook. The G3 iBook work fine for him for several years. A few weeks ago the G3 iBook started taking forever to load/startup. I was eventually able to get it to read the original CD with software and loaded OS X 10 on the G3 iBook. Since all he used it for was iTune and Internet, I attempted to reload TIGER 10.3. Though it literal took all day Thursday for G3 iBook to load 10.3, it has gone back to black screen with text LOGIN:
I seem to remember going through a similar problem when I purchased my G5 iMac several years ago, but have forgotten the solution.
Yes it is old and out of date. BUT I will not be buying another iBook till 2008. However he "needs" a solution between now and then. His father (my brother) purchased him a $400 PC from Wal-Mart that does function, but I have never had to use a PC. And though he can decode how to use iTune and navigate the internet on the PC. Thumb drive and his Sony PSP show up on the desktop on a Mac as a hardrive. Neither appear as anything on his PC

Stupid question in addition I have an old G4 Desktop that is also 800 mhz yet it radically faster then the G3 iBook. Why?

My 13 year old nephew is not the most organized. I gave him the original software CDs but he know longer remember where he placed them. The OS X 10 CD say iBook on them but not G4 or G3 and are more then likely belong to my G4 iBook. Those appear to work. 10.3 is an upgrade CD. I assume it is okay BECAUSE I no longer use 10.3 on any of my macs in my home.
I seem to remember when purchasing 10.3 CD it was a nightmare to install. One of the problems was that it corrupted the "PRIVILEGES". So around 5PM I restarted the G3 iBook and ran Disk utilities and had it repair the "PRIVILEGES". It has been running 5 hours NOW and is less then half way through repairing them.

Lumia 920, Black update, and Internet sharing not ...

I have a pair of Lumia 920s, both the developer edition given out at Microsoft Build 2012. Both updated to Lumia Black/gddr3 yesterday without any issues, both running on AT&T.
however, on one of them, the Internet Sharing no longer works, while on the other, it still works fine. I have swapped sim cards, and the problem stays with the one specific phone, and is not tied to the line.
I have reset and wiped the phone, and tried to reconfigure it (including reinstalling the spanish/mexico keyboard, which has solved this problem in the past).
I have checked access point configuration, and both match. Both are running on LTE. I'm at a loss how to get it working again, as I've been through everything that I know of to make it work.
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem only on mobile. Keeps asking to upgrade. Its like the phone doesn't know I have this service. Or the tmo,servers do not know that my account has paid for this. Funny part is,the customer services people say they can see I,have this feature on my acct. Pls jeep me,posted if you get a fix for this

After reboot only have black screen with text I don't understand

I was listening to itunes and hit pause and got the forever pinwheel. I rebooted and now can only get a black screen that says:

I have no idea what this means! Can anyone help! Thanks.

You really do need an OS Install Disc.
Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

Tough without the Tiger Disk problems, but try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

Lumia 920 Flickering Screen

I replaced my Lumia 925 because it has Screen Splotches, I decided to upgrade it to Lumia 920 last 2 days ago, but it has a Flickering Screen. My question is, is this normal? Whenever I browse pictures and it is on brighter background the flickering screen got worst. Why is that?

have you ensured that your phone is up to date with firmware updates, and also that you are up to date with all the latest Nokia system apps? also try performing a soft reset. if that does not work, then you may need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for inspection.

Lumia 920 blinking screen

Hi guys, recently after I updated my Lumia 920 os to Lumia amber I realized sometimes my screen blinking... I'm not sure why... Is it because of the os, installed apps or the phone got some problem... Thanks

Im too suffering from same issue(flickering screen), but this was there even before amber update. To reproduce the issue , i found this way - Make a call and put your finger near proximity sensor so that screen goes off. Stay like that for 2 to 3 minutes and now take out your finger. You will see that entire screen is flickerng. But this is not the only cause for flickering screen, as i observed it coming many times in my usage. Nokia plzz respond to the question quickly.

Lumia 920 - Black update problems, slow app respon...

I have had a lumia for well over a year in the UK, I updated to the black update a week ago, and the phone became completely unresponsive, similar to theDej's problem here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Phone-inoperative-after-lumia-black-update/m-p/2372351/h...
However, I contacted the carrier (EE) and they replaced the handset. I set up the replacement handset, which then prompted for the update, and I took the plunge and applied it again.
Now, although the handset mostly works, some apps have stopped functioning, and most importantly the WiFi settings and Bluetooth settings pages often become completely unresponsive, drop their connections, and dont show any available connections, so I cant reconnect to WiFi or bluetooth without restarting the phone. Also on some occasions, turning off the phone shows the "goodbye" screen, but either doesn't turn off and returns to the home screen or it magically restarts without me pressing the power button.
Has anyone come across any issues like this, is there anything I can do?

Please, try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool and report your results. We have a lot of Bluetooth/Wi-Fi issues reports since Lumia Black – no problem here. However, we have so many, sounds like several different issues.

Lumia 920: Replace Screen or Not Replace Screen?

Hi everyone,
I got the 920 for a couple of months now, same as some users I have the issue of light bleed from the top of the screen. You can only see it if you look at it from a certain angle, you cannot see it if you look at the screen directly.
Well, I did go to a local Nokia Care Center, they said they don't consider this as a problem, but they can still order and replace the screen for me if I wanted to. Earlier this week the screen came in and they called me to get it replaced.
My question is should I get the screen replaced? A few people said to me that if the light bleed doesn't bother me, don't have the phone opened to replace the screen. The body design of the 920 doesn't look like the type that can open easily to change parts.
Anyway, if I do get the screen replaced, I'll also ask them to replace the battery. I don't know if it's normal, but the battery life is really not that great. I get about half a day, by late afternoon I've to charge the phone again. Basically I'm charging the phone twice a day, and no I don't have many background services running, and I don't have the wifi always on.

If you are bothered by this issue and they will replace the screen under warranty I don't see why you should not do it. I don't know if they will agree to a battery replacement as well though, but you can always ask for it.

Reset my laptop now I can't get past this black screen with text?

I tweeted toshiba telling them my problem on Twitter (about how it would let me log in but it wouldn't take me to the desktop, it would just keep loading for hours til I would turn the computer on again to try and use my laptop) then direct messaged the @toshibausahelp and asked them if I should just reset my laptop and asked if it would then work. The person messaged me back and told me to reset my computer so by pressing f8 at the toshiba logo at the start up it took me to the options to reset my laptop. Then it took like 2 hours to reset and then my screen literally says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" idk what to do? That's the only place it'll take me to, any key I press won't effect it. Everything is gone which I knew it would be, but I thought resetting it would give me a fresh start to try again. But I can't even try, it won't let me go anywhere else can someone help me. I got this laptop in June and it's had so many problems. It's a satellite c55-b5202

Aftre the reset you need to configure correctly your router. Using Cisco Connect is the more easy way because it try automatically to sense the type of connection without asking to the user/operator. If you don't have Cisco Connect you have to configure manually using the web interface (http://192.168.1.1) but you need to know the right parameters for your ISP (and they depends only from your ISP, not from the router). You can try also to ark the customer support for your ISP or find another user with same provider and use similar parameters.
You can also try to re-download Cisco Connect software from here:

Of course you can connect your computer directly to modem for the download, then reconnect router between you and your modem. Better to connect router to you computer with cable, not wireless for first configuration.

Doesn't seem to be sending, other files send fine. Tried to save as favourites but didn't send.
Anybody else having issues?

As the application team say, they are working on that to solve it for next update.

Lumia 920 on Black Amber - HERE Maps stops working

Hi,
After being trilled about updating and closing my applications using the X button on multi-tasking (finally!), I went into my Here Maps, or rather, I tried to open Here Maps, and it closed (probably an exception occurs and closes the app, just like when you develop WP apps).
So i've been searching the web.
Solutions that i've seen
1- Reset Phone (Done)
2- Soft Reset (Done)
3- Uninstall, Reinstall (Done)
4- Open while in Airplane/Removing SIM => still closes and crash
5- Uninstall Maps in Settings > Applications > Maps, I don't have Maps option (Even when I install/uninstall HERE Maps and/or HERE Drive+ and/or HERE Transit)
6- No updates available
7- Updated to latest version (I'm on black amber).
So after all that, i've been for 2 hours not able to solve my issue, which is (to recap):
Can't open HERE Maps on Lumia 920 (Black Amber), instantly crashes. I can still use Transit for getting my subway + bus infos, but can't use HERE Drive+ and Maps.
If there's anything more you need, please ask.

Unfortunatelly, there are no updates from Nokia on this issue.

When I boot up my iMac I get a black screen with white text?

Hey guys wondering if anyone can help me. I installed mountain lion on my iMac the other day (2.8ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24inch) and now when I turn it on I get this screen come up? Any one no of a way to fix it? It comes up black all this white text appears and at the end it says..

You type exit and some more stuff comes up then the mac boots up, normal apple loading screen and your in?? I tried reinstalling mountain lion again and I had no luck. Still doing it? Its strange cause ML is running fine on my macbook air. If anyone has any suggestions I would be so grateful. Tell me this isnt the end of her?
Its not something silly like the keyboard and mouse aren't connecting? I leave them on all the time.

When I first read this post I did not realize that the Mac boots properly if you type "exit". It seems like perhaps your mac thinks you want to boot in "verbose" mode. Try this before doing a reinstall.

Lumia 920 with black not working Play to

I spent today in update Lumia 920 black and I can not download the Play To the version 3 tells me that is not available on my device

I to downloaded the update Lumia Black, although when i tried to use "Play to", a message appeared to say an update is required, downloaded that. Now when I try to turn the "play to" on the same message appears. Could someone help, or Microsoft, Nokia could fix this problem.!

IBook G4 black screen at startup with code in upper left hand corner

I have had operating system issues for the past year, and recently had my OS reinstalled at a Mac Professional retailer. After two weeks of perfect performance, the chime stopped working on startup. This was the only problem for several days. Then when I would put it to sleep, the computer would not automatically turn back on, I had to manually reboot it. Finally, today, after the computer would not wake up and I had restarted it, the screen would flash to the apple logo screen WITHOUT the spinning wheel and after several seconds would shift to an all black screen with text in the upper right hand corner, waiting for a command entry.
The code reads as follows:

node=22016 fileID=4 volume=Macintosh HD device=root_device

Any ideas?????

Put the install disc in the drive and start while holding the "c" key. Once satrted click through past the language screen and select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Highlight the drive on the left and click the Repair button. If it reports errors and repairs repeat the process until no errors are reported. If it reports errors it can't repair post the error message here.
