Lumia 920 Locks up after Black update

I'm using an AT&T Nokia Lumia 920. My phone had been working fine with the Amber update but as soon as I updated to Black it started hanging and acting weird. These are the symptoms:
1. If I have a device pin setup it hangs as soon as I type in the pin or if I hit the emergency call button.
2. If I don't have a pin, most apps don't start. They say they are loading but after 30 seconds or so they drop back to the start menu.
3. It never successfully reboots, I have to use the soft reset key sequence (power + volume down) to get it to restart.
4. I see missed incoming calls but the phone gives no indication when you're actually calling it.
Things I've tried:
1. Soft reset.
2. Hard reset.
3. Flash to pre Black using Nokia Software Recovery Tool. (no longer possible since it downloaded the black update this morning)
4. Restoring backup after hard reset.
5. Picking all the defaults after a hard reset.
6. Changing the region on startup after a hard reset.
7. Changing the keyboard layouts (remove some, add a bunch). This the one setting I seem to be able to get to.
8. Uninstalled all apps I could (I can't see what games are installed).
9. Flashed back to Original ROM and updated through Phone Updates, after Black is installed, device locks up again.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem? I'm in the US.

that's really a bummer.
I went through the same thing/similar when I updated my 920 to black.
I had to hard format and use the NSRT to reinstall the firmware completely 10-12 times until it finaly took the firmware correctly.
other than that, seems you have done everything you could to troubleshoot it.

Lumia 820 battery drain after "Black" update

Hi all,
Yesterday I finally received the black update on my NL820. After applying the update successfully I charged the phone to %100. Before I went to bed I had:
Battery at %94
Wifi - Off
Data services - Off
Location services - Off
Bluetooth - Off
Battery Saver - On
This morning I wake up and it is unusually bright outside - the phone powered off, the alarm didn't go off and I overslept for work. I haven't touched any other settings after the update. Everything is the way I used it before. What is it that could drain a battery in the space of 8 hours from almost full to power off? I've had this happen on the same phone twice prior to the upgrade as well but then I thought I've forgot data services on or something. This time I'm sure everything was off.

I have been using Lumia 820 since 1 year and have never faced any issues. But after the recent "black" update... my mobile battery drains out within few hours after i charge it 100%. I have to charge it 3-4 times in a day ..
1. I dont have any GPRS connection.
2. I use wifi at home (only evenings). The rest of the day.. I use it only for calls and texts.
3. I have tried hard reset, but that dint help.
4. After hard reset, I dint update my mobile software.
I charge it till 11pm and when I wake up at 5 am .. I see the mobile is switched off and I cant depend on the alarm to wake me up . That makes me so nervous.
Please bring out some solution to this problem. It is so irritating to charge the mobile for so many times in day.

Lumia 800 locking up after 11500 update

I hadn't had a single problem with my Lumia 800 since purchase two months ago.
Last night I updated the firmware to 11500.
Within a minute of the update completing the phone froze. App list was on screen but unresponsive, all buttons unresponsive, a full blown lockup. I held the power button and reset it. Phone booted up ok but locked up again within five mins, then again after another five mins. This morning it locked up again while I was switching off flight mode.
There has been no consistency to what I have been doing on the phone at the time. The only observation I've made is that it's never unresponsive when I pick it up, it happens monents after unlocking the screen and using the phone.
Has anybody else experienced this?

Restore done. Phone restarted.
It locked up seconds after unlocking the screen.
Held down power button until device switched off, rebooted, went into apps list, opened an email, ran Nokia Disgnostics and looked at Battery Info, returned to homescreen, switched on flight-mode, switched off flight-mode, phone locked up.
GPS appears to be broken too. Nokia Maps, Maps (WP) and FourSquare all show my location as the place I last ran a map application which is about 30km away. Strange thing is that it's reporting that GPS is locked on and that it knows my position.
Oh! Phone has just locked up again.
What should I do now? If it's to contact Nokia Care would you mind providing a link or telephone number (UK) please?

After black update I can't open here map on Lumia ...

Please help me solve this problem I travel a lot in middle east and here maps and here drive was best solution for traveling there. Now after black update on my Lumia 820 I can't even open them I don't want to reset my phone because I have a lot of locations saved in maps. I don't know if Nokia is looking into it or not.

Hi, I have a problem. I had GDR3 developer version without Black, everything was ok, but after Black update, my phone is randomly restarting. I still have the same apps asi without Black. I made hard reset, but nothing, I made hard reset without restoration of my previous data, and it is still restarting. I made software flash over nokia software updater for retail but it is still randomly restarting.
Tell me what to do, because it makes me angry and I'm planning to sell and never buy Nokia Lumia phone again!

I have sam issue on Lumia 720, i never had random restart before gdr3+Black, i did not dev unlocked my phone i did officiall ota. Also i get 8bit color, stuck screen more often now. Soft and hard reset don't help. And i hate to see Nokia don't answer ur question yet.

Lumia 1020 call cut outs after Black update

My calls have problems after Black update. Either reciever can not hear me or I can not hear him for long periods. Tested SIM in other phone on same net on same location and seems to be Nokia problem.

Hi there, Arbaerinn.
Did something happen to your phone prior to doing an update? What fixes have you tried so far? Try to restart your phone by pressing and holding the Power and Volume down keys simultaneously for 10-15 seconds. Release the keys and then the phone will restart.
You can also try resetting your camera. To do that, go to Settings > swipe to left to see application > phone+camera > reset camera. No photo or personal data will be deleted in doing this.
If the said fixes didn't make any difference, we suggest you take the phone to the Nokia Care Point for evaluation. Check for Nokia Care Points in your location by visiting your Local Support page: http://www.nokia.com/global/wayfinder/ .

Downloaded the app " Preview for Developers" and checked the phone updates, It showed that one update is ready to install. Now when i update the mobile (Lumia Black Update) the flashlight of camera is not working anymore. Plz suggest

Lumia 920 completely frozen after Cyan WP 8.1 upda...

Phone was working fine until I updated to cyan firmware wp 8.1. The upgrade went well, then when the phone rebooted it just froze on the AT&T flash screen (white circle with blue rings on white background). Did numerous soft and hard resets on my Lumia 920 but again it only goes as far as the AT&T logo screen and then freezes. Phone is un-responsive, won't turn off until the battery completely drains. Essentially my phone is dead.
I installed Nokia Software Recovery Tool hoping to revert my Lumia 920 back to "Black" firmware. But my only option is to install the Cyan firmware again which makes my phone lock up. I have done this repeatedly with no success.
Is there anyway to get Black firmware back on my Lumia 920? I think this is the only solution. Thanks.

Your phone was connected to the outlet?
If during installation consumes a certain percentage of battery and not connected to a power outlet installation stops until you connect the plug.

Lumia 620: bluetooth problems since Black update

My Lumia 620 did pair correctly with my car via bluetooth. This is a Citroen C5 with NaviDrive 3D system.
However, since the Black update I have the following problems:
1) I can successfully pair the 620 once, but it does not reconnect after that.
2) When I try to switch-off bluetooth after a unsuccessful pairing trial, it does not switch-off completely: the small dots in the screen upper area keep on running and the bluetooth switch stays greyed-out.
3) When I switch-off the phone completely in this situation it often reboots instantly.
Is someone else recognising these issues?

We can't comment yet if this issue will be addressed by the Lumia Cyan WP 8.1 update, though SW updates are released to fix reported bugs and improve the features of the phone's OS. If resetting the phone didn't work, try restoring its software using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. See this link: Nokia Software Recovery Tool. The link for the recovery app will lead you to the Nokia UK website. Best to search it in the local Nokia support page: Way Finder - Nokia.
Note that this will wipe out all your phone's data, so making a backup is highly advised. Check this link for the steps on backing up your files: Nokia Lumia 620 - Back up and restore data on your phone.

WiFi issues and crashing after black update

I have a uk lumia 820 which was updated to the latest os release including the nokia black update. The problem is since updating, my wifi does connect but soon after internet connnectivity is lost even when mobile data is also enabled, wifi remains connected but needs to be cycled off/on before internet access is restored. One thing i have noticed is that after restarting the phone the access point setting always shows and asks to pick my network operator. Also i have seen a few system/app crashes that did not happen before the black update was installed. I have done numerous soft resets but the problem remains.

Hi there, I have the same problem but this has been happening since the Amber update, so its not related to the Black update.
The problem is that when you are connected to your WiFi and then leave coverage for any period of time, the WiFi does not reconnect. It can see the access point, and shows you are connected in settings, but if you try to use WiFi then it does not fully connect.
Turning off and on is the only way around this which is not a suitable option. It would be preferable that the WiFi did manage to reconnect completely. Is this an OS problem, or a problem with the firmware on the WiFi chip?
There are a lot of users with this issue so can we get Nokia to look into this as a bug?
