One of most missed feature from Symbian in my nokia Lumia 920 is saying caller name along with ringtone when I get call...have been using Symbian for so long I use to know who is calling me even if phone is far on table... If this feature dont need hardware plz bring it on wp8 or wp8.1 of same specially on Lumia 920 ...#nokia setting custome ringtone is not solution even my nokia 6600 had it.... Besides v cannot think of setting custome tone for 200-300 people in oye contact list

    My problem is as follow.
    When I am talking with one person on the phone and another one is trying to call me at the same time I have no information about that.
    Even when I finished talking I have no SMS information that someone was trying to call me. Nothing is on the calls history also.
    Did anyone experienced similar issue and know how to help me?

    Thanks for a try, but it is not exactly my worries.
    I have no problem with caller names or unknown number issues.
    The only problem is tha if I am on a call and another person is calling me at the same time - it is not noticed or logged.
    So I am no able to call back, because I do not know that someone was calling me.
    Can you imagine explaining myself to my wife every time...

  • Lumia 920: Incoming calls are missing sound

    For a couple of days all incoming calls have been missing sound. After some trial and error I found that this can be fixed by  placing the call briefly on hold and then taking it off hold. Outgoing calls have sound normally. This would indicate that some setting for incoming calls has not been properly reset. How can this issue be fixed? The phone has been restarted several times.
    My phone is Lumia 920 with the latest Portico update installed (the problems actually started before the update and continued after it).

    Have you tried a factory reset? OR even changing your sim card..

  • I have a problem with Siri. Often when I say "call [name of person in contacts] ... home" Siri says there is no home number for [name of person]. But there is!

    I have a problem with Siri. Although my contacts are entered correctly including naming the contact's home phione number as "Home", Siri will often tell me there is no home number for that person. She then gives me a choice of using the contact's home or mobile number (whicgh appear correct on the screen) and when I choose "Home" Siri again tells me there is no home number for that name. Any ideas? Am I entering the contact incorrectly?

    Well, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
    So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
    If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you

  • Lumia 920 - speakerphone calls with audio cable pl...

    I'm not sure if this is a bug or by design but if I have my 920 plugged into my car audio AUX and I take a call using the speakerphone the call audio droppes to the phone.  If I take it off speakerphone the audio then comes out through my car system.  
    Is there some sort of setting available or can this be fixed?  Call audio should always go to the line out if it is plugged in. 

    I don't this is a design for a phone. Any phone I have ever used with Aux allows you to connect it and use the volume to adjust the sound from the phone just like a CD. CD players that where external in the past did the same thing. You connect it turn the sound up on the player then adjust the audio. The phone doesn't... The phone audio sinks to 0 when you try to turn it up it jumps 1 then back to 0. You turn the volume up in the car while a song is playing you get nothing. 
    This is either a flaw with the phone or the diver for the aux sending to a car setero is not working properly. No phone make or model I have owned has ever done this. 
    I have the same issue with a Griffin aux cable..

    Does this phone have the feature of "Say Caller's name"?
    This can be checked in the following folder:
    Control Panel--> Profiles--> General--> Personalise--> Say Caller's name.
    If this phone supports this feature, then there should be an option of "Say Caller's name" in the Personalise option of General.
    Feedback on the matter will be deeply appreciated.

    there is many posts here regarding this model with alot of issue
    i was one of them that had issues myself and gave up
    but as i explained to those on another thread phones are made in batches,this is so an issue can be identified and solved ,people then get the perception that its a bad phone reading all them problems
    i then bought another one 3 months later and it works fine not a problem at all apart from the odd freeze or shutdown which happens to most phones anyway and its not a big problem once its not on a continuous basis,i think its a great feature packed phone apart from that and very well priced.
    there was some reports of some bad builds in this too but nothing widespread,if you do decide to purchase keep your receipt and if anything goes wrong send it to a nokia care center.

  • Unreliable call notifications on Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8

    My wife and I both own the Lumia 920 with the latest Windows Phone 8 update (GDR2/Lumia Amber). We have installed Skype on each handset. We are signed into the app and into our Live accounts. I used her phone and Skyped my phone. Nothing happened. Though her Skype app showed my phone to be "ringing," my phone in fact never gave any indication that a call was trying to come in. There was also no notification on the lockscreen, though I enabled that feature on my phone's settings.
    I went into the Skype app and looked under its settings, but all I find are toggles to turn on Skype and Messenger messages, both of which are on. I know that I'm missing something. I checked Background Tasks on the handset. Skype doesn't show up on the list of blocked apps. But neither does it show up as "allowed." When I go into Background Tasks > Advanced, there is a list of grayed-out items that I "may not be able to block," and Skype is on that list. But I can find no option to manually permit it.
    How do I know when someone is Skyping me?

    It's been over a month since my first post and providing the Skype team with details for them to troubleshoot, still no word from them. I have almost all the issues that you would find online about Skype and nothing they said is fixed works for me. I have since tested on my iPad 2 (iOS 7) as well, same story and having multiple devices made it even worse. I don't get sound when text notifications arrive on my iPad, just on-screen alerts (yes, Skype notifications have been set to play sound). Calls only show up as missed calls after the fact, just like my WP8. Skype was unresponsive when I tried to pick up a text notification on the iPad and I had to switch over to my WP8, just to have my first failed reply using the iPad pop up the next day on my PC. What's even funnier was the other side received this "first" response 5 or 6 hours before I saw it on my side and his response to that didn't get to me until 7 hours later when the real conversation concluded the night before. The multiple device sync they said they fixed back in the Feb release isn't working either. I would be texting away on the iPad and my phone sitting right next to me would be pinging away with notifications. So much for only sending notifications to the active device. Maybe they're pinging my phone to compensate for the soundless iOS? Even something simple as emoticons is messed up. I've received them as code on my PC from someone texting me from another Skype account, they've turned into little squares or code if I view the conversation on a different device from the one I used to send them originally. Profile pics of contacts appear and disappear at random. Even what you think is the most stable and functional PC version is crapping out. Statuses of my contacts are rarely current and you need to log off and log back on to trigger it to refresh. And that doesn't work 100% of the time. Renaming contacts on the PC does nothing when you view it on other devices. So my contacts who have mutliple accounts show up with the exact same name multiple times on my WP8 and iPad. I have to go into the contact details in order to tell which one is personal and which one is work. I don't think you can make it this bad if you intentionally tried. They have essentially killed two great products with one merger and pissed off both loyal Messenger and Skype users. If I didn't have contacts on Lync, which only Skype can reach when you don't have Lync at home, I would have been so gone.

    Merging calls is a network function and needs to be both enabled and available.

    I received my Lumia 920 yesterday and experienced these errors right away:
    1. When I'm in a call, the person I talk to can't hear me. Instead it is metallic or bubbling sounds when I talk. From time to time, it is possible to have a conversation for a couple of seconds, but then the weird sounds starts again.
    2. The phone reboots by itself every now and then.
    3. I can see that the coverage disapears sometimes in the top left corner.
    If I call with VoIP (Lync 2013 app) there are no audio problems.
    I have been in contact with my carrier (Telia, Sweden) and have got a new SIM-card, but the problems persists.
    I have also tried to change Max Connection speed to 2G which seemed to help at first, but then the phone just started to reboot over and over when I tried to call.
    I have also tried to reset the phone to factory defalt, but the problem persists.
    The audio problems persists regardless if I'm using the headset shipped with the phone or a bluetooth headset from Jabra.

    Hi,
    Since you mentioned that you already reset the phone to its factory default it would be better if you're going to visit any local Nokia Care point. I belive the problem that you have will fall under hardware issue. It has something to do with the Microphone.
    Just to make sure, you can also try to perform a software update. If it will not work, visit a local Nokia Care point so technician can evaluate your phone.

    I just bought E61 last week, and when I tried to activate the say caller's name feature, it does not work fine. Sometimes the voice is very low that I cannot hear it.
    I went to the service center and have the software upgraded, but still it does not fix the problem.
    Anybody can advice on this issue, please..

    I recommend checking your  prompts and alerts to turn this feature off. This may be you "Call Connect" or "Readout" alerts. Listed below are steps to update this feature. 
    With the flip open, press the Voice Command Key (on the left side of the phone).The Voice Commands feature has several settings which allow you to customize how you want to use it. Access Voice Commands, then press the Right Soft Key[Settings]. Your choices are below:
    -Confirm Choices--- Automatic/Always Confirm/ Never Confirm
    -Sensitivity--- Control the sensitivity as More Sensitive/ Automatic/Less Sensitive
    -Adapt Voice ---If the phone often asks you to repeat voice command,train the phone to recognize your voice patterns.Train Words/ Train Digits
    Prompts ---Mode/ Audio Playback/Timeout
    * For Mode, set Prompts/ Readout+ Alerts/ Readout/ Tones Only.
    * For Audio Playback, set Speakerphone or Earpiece.
    * For Timeout, set 5 seconds or 10seconds.

  • How to Clean the Call Speakers - Lumia 920

    This is a bad idea if you have a Lumia 920. Maybe you could try this on other phones but the quality of the Lumia 920 just pushes the dust around the inside of the phone and into the front camera somehow. I have had 3 Lumia 920 and the first two suffer from dust in the front camera which I think also affects the proximity sensor. I though that I was treating the phone wrong but it also happened to the windows store guy. There was an article on Windowsphonecentral.com about this and as for learning how to clean the speakers I would like to find out too.

    You could use anti static cloth or compressed air to clean ive seen people using hoovers etc NOT ADVISABLE.
    I would sent it to nokia care are its a known issue,it will be done under warranty.

As of this writing I still have not received the yellow phone nor did I receive the wireless pads. When I inquired about the possibility of honoring this for my 4 purchases the lady told me that she could not help me and that I could return the phones and go and purchase them again from the Northridge location. I will do that if I have to, but the only reason I purchased these phones was for the great customer service that Nokia is known for and the quality that you produce. Again I only switched to AT&T for your product, not for AT&T's service. I have been staying away from them for years, but your phone made me take the plunge. We are already buying 2 Nokia JBL PowerUp Speakers and I am an outspoken promoter for your phones, but in this instance I was wondering if you could help us take advantage of this promotion or if I will have to return the phones and purchase new ones in order for us to also get the headphones.     Firstly this is a user to user support forum. If you wish to contact Nokia directly you should use the "Nokia support" tab to the bottom right if this screen.
    Since you purchased your phones from AT&T, you should really be contacting them about this. How AT&T choose to srll the phones, their pricing policies and promotions are a matter for themselves and nothing to do with nokia. Nokia will have little or no control over them.
