Lumia 920 Update - sms issues/power issues/email i...

I Installed the nokia updates today at work, left my phone in the draw. 3 hours later, phone is stuck on the "Nokia" splash screen. Couldnt do anything to get it off. Eventually, figured out the 3 button reset (at least 3 buttons did reset it )
Then,
Sync problems with emails
Getting toasts for SMS but no showing up in the app
Clicking an SMS toast sends me to the last sms pre-update
Back of my phone is warm - near top by camera
Battery drained from full within about 2 hours

I suggest that you backup all your personal data from your phone onto your PC then perform a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone). If that doesn't work, then you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 loads of issues after Denim update...

Everything functions well, but after updating it to Lumia Denim + Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 I first got some weird installing issues, then it started randomly crashing, then it worked fine again, of-course it won't back-up as usual (so no hard-resseting for me), and the live folders seem buggy for no reason at all, but for some reason whenever I attempt to create a live folder it takes me 5 minutes and it won't ''accept it''.
Also for some reason there is no ''Hey Cortana'' or maybe this simply isn't for the Nokia Lumia 920.

Hi, TulaTheQuang. You may try checking if there is any update on the phone system apps by going to Store >... > settings > check for updates and see if these will fix the problem. If not, try rebooting your phone by holding the volume down and power keys at the same time for 10-15 seconds, release and the phone will restart. After this operation, you may need to set the date and time on the phone. Let us know what will be the outcome. For the availability of Hey Cortana, you may refer to this link: Will I get “Hey Cortana” voice activation after Lumia Denim update?. Link is applicable regardless of your region.
Regarding your concern about the calendar, gilesrm74. The feature is currently unsupported on the device, but you may post your concern on this link: windowsphone.uservoice.com as a feature suggestion. And for the availability of Cortana, you may check this link: Full of features: Lumia Denim Update.

  • Lumia 920 Flash Glare Issue

Hi, I just bought a Lumia 920 but I've noticed a problem while taking pictures in total darkness.
I can clearly see a coloured reflection moving on the screen while the camera tries to focus (with the assist led) and then, that glare, is visible in the saved picture.
Attached there is a picture with this problem.
Do I have a defected phone?

    hi,
I've made some tests and the results are not good for me.
Currently there isn't any update and I think that this could be a hardware problem.
I'm attaching my current software version info and two pictures taken in the same light conditions but with and without flash.
Tomorrow I will go back to the store, hoping for a replacement as I'm in the first 10 days from the bought.
Could it be an issue with the white model? Or an entire fault batch?
    Thanks, good night.

  • Lumia 920 battery life issue

I have a small battery queries on my phone, Lumia 920. The phone is new, I am approx. 1 month of goes perfectly, only last night I noticed a strange thing, I say. I had to hang up (shutdown) because I was in a medical practice with 12% battery status. After about 2 hours we reopened (power on) and found that my battery status shows 74%. And went so until the next recharge, about 36 hours. It is normal to happen? Thanks in advance.

It is not normal but it can happen. Battery meters are very approximate and readings are based on output voltage which can sometimes temporarily dip or rise due to use.
You can minise the discrepancy by calibrating the meter. This is done by running the battery down and then charging till full without interruptions.

  • Lumia 920 does not accept Live.fi -email addres

    Hi,
I just received a new Lumia 920. I have created in internet an windows email with ending @live.fi. I am not able to add that email account as a Window live Id.
    Where is the problem?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
Is there any error message? Try to sign in first your Live account using your computer. Check if there are security features that needs to be deactivated or activated and then restart your phone. Once done, try to re-setup your Live account in your phone.
If the account is working fine in the PC, kindly check the internet connection of the phone. Try browsing the web to check if both WiFi and cellular data is working perfectly fine.
Also, have you checked the date and time settings if they are set correctly? If it is set to automatically use, kindly turn it off and set the time correctly. Go to Settings > Date + Time > switch Set automatically to Off , and select Time zone.
Check this link for more information about Microsoft account setup link: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/how-to/wp8/start/sign-in-with-a-microsoft-account
    Hope this helps.

  • Lumia 920 Updates for Middle East

I have Lumia 920 and I live in Oman. Windows Phone 8 website says the latest released updates ver is 8.0.10211.204. While my phone showing 8.0.9903.10. When latest updates will be available for this region ? Anyone ? Also when all the paid Apps will be available for this region too ?

    hi mate,
i think i answered your question a few minutes ago regarding paid apps. Again, this has nothing to do with Nokia but everything to do with Microsoft so you will need to contact them.
As for the Portico update, Nokia has stated officially that the roll-out has begun, and is anticipated to be completed by mid-March. Sit tight and the update will arrive, your phone will automatically notify you when it is available.

  • Please update Lumia 920 LTE connections issues.

just want to say that this is a wonderful device.
I am having issues with LTE intermittently connecting. I have to reset the phone to correct sometimes.
Will there be a update that addresses this?

To be honest. I have four identical 920's in my house. The other 3 people using them aren't heavy internet/data users. As soon as I used internet connection sharing (works perfectly by the way - also made sure WIFI stayed on with lock screen) my phone no longer connects to LTE as the preferred freq choice. The other phones have never done ICS and they are all constantly on LTE and never switch down. My set is constantly on 3G or 4G. If I travel, and the LTE connection is strong, then the phone does go there but typically not. I believe its a WP8 issue. Please fix because I'd like to appreciate the LTE speed that is offered here.

  • My Lumia 920 frequently refuse to power on

I have had d phone for up to 12 months. Although a good phone, I experience frequent refusal to power on. This requires taking it to Nokia care almost on monthly basis. I use only Nokia chargers, & don't allow the battery to drain b4 charging. What can I do.

Looks like a hardware issue, unfortunately. It is surprising that Nokia Care wasn't able to help, but i would be looking at a faulty battery, or battery connector.

  • Rogers Lumia 920 Update Troubles: cant open msg, p...

Just installed the latest software update and cant open msg, phone and browser. Can anyone help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

have you tried performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates)? Also ensure that you have all the latest Nokia system app updates installed that are detailed in this thread: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/m-p/1640082#M242
Failing this, you may need to perform a hard reset, which will delete all your personal data, so please backup all of this first onto your PC and / or online storage service such as SkyDrive. Goto Settings > About > Reset your phone.
If there are still problems after a hard reset, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

  • Nokia Lumia 920 issues after latest update. Fix in...

Since the last update we are having massive problems on our Lumia 920 from ATT. Bad reception, losing Internet connection, etc.
We have over 30 920 deployed in our company. We did tests with and without the new patch and its like day and night.
Sitting in my office, i have 1-2 bars on the phone with updates, showing 4g, but cannot access any website.Plus constantly losing connection.
On the phone without update I have 2-3 bars, showing LTE and constant internet access.
It is horrible. We first thought it was related to the Access Point Software, but it is definitively the firmware.
Please fix asap. Not good advertising for those awesome phones.

This issue has already been covered on several threads on this forum. The update was found to cause issues on AT&T and was pulled part way through it's roll out. A fresh update is being prepared that fixes the issues. For more information contact AT&T or Nokia US.

  • Nokia lumia 920 sound issues

I have a problem with the sound of my Nokia Lumia 920. I bought the phone back in June, this issue have only just start. I hope someone can help me with this problem. Thank you

    hi mate,
have you got the Portico update installed (check via Settings > Phone Update). also check that you are fully up to date with all the latest Nokia system apps in the Store. failing that, you can try soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates).

  • Nokia Lumia 920 issues... that nokia CANNOT fix

I have got quite a few issues with this useless phone:
MMS messages: i cannot recieve them. i can with my iphone, its a nokia issue, they are unable to let me know what is wrong.
random rebooting: this shoudnt happen but it does, very annoying.
unable to connect to WPA2 Enterprise networks :a biggie for me, will install a certificate, but cannot use it, nokia CANNOT fix this issue
battery life is nothing like advertised, i was advised by nokia to disable data, disable wifi, disable EVERYTHING turning my premium phone into a dumbphone
the phone creaks, you can hear it on calls and video's captured
Nokia support is useless, they tell me they will call me back, but never do.
the camera is useless in normal light conditions heaps of overexpsed area's
anyone have any fixes for these issues?

As has been reported by many people here as a result of an equal amount of people bringing it up Battery life on the Lumia 920 will require a number of charging cycles to optimize, This has nothing to do with the phone but is inherent of the type of batteries used in modern day phones and not specific to Lumia 920.
Battery use may vary depending on a number of issues. If you are seeing mailsync, sending and/or receiving SMS and others be troublesome and require many retries it could be you are in a region where the signal is not very good. I am _not_ saying it's not the phone, just that it does not have to be, and frankly often isn't.
Nokia Drive+ is not available as a beta for nothing. If you can't deal with or won't be willing with using beta software then don't. The latest update has reportedly improved performance significantly.
How does MMS not working have anything to do with Battery, get the correct settings from your carrier. There's plenty of information available here on how to get this sorted.
What are your expectations of battery life? In general I would say for a phone like the Lumia 920 a normal working day should be quite acceptable and many users initially reporting shorter life have cone back in confirming that battery life has seriously improved over the initial few days/weeks of use.
And in conclusion, if you feel your device is faulty talk to Nokia using the contact details here. In such a case there is nothing anyone here can say or do to help you really.

  • Lumia 1020 SMS Issue.

Been having issues for a few months now and haven't been able to find any solutions online. I'm having an issue where I can not send messages to certain numbers and I am just receiving the "Can't send" message as if I had no signal. What's even more confusing is that I have no issue receiving messages from these numbers, I am just incapable of replying. Currently this is only affecting a few contacts, but obviously this is an extremely annoying issue. If you have any advice or tips to solve this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and I've just carried out all possible updates and still the problem persists.
-Thanks for taking the time to read this, MuirC

    Hi MuirC,
We appreciate your effort in posting your concern on the forum. By the way, are you still experiencing the SMS issue? If yes, have you tried using another SIM card if it makes any difference? Make sure to use the  original Micro SIM  and not the modified one. You may also try checking this Nokia Lumia 1020 - Troubleshooter for a possible resolution. Any update is very much appreciated.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 potential battery drain issue?

Can you Nokia confirm this? http://reach.jdbpocketware.com/topic/128305-to-nokia-ref-lumia-920/
    The issue illustrated in detail:
    Nature of Windows Phone buttons
Pressing either the power button or the camera button will cause the device screen to turn on, even when the proximity sensor detects proximity.
    The lockscreen behavior
Upon power on, screen lights up and shows the lockscreen (or camera), which runs a timeout to auto power off the device if screen is not touched in X seconds.
But if screen is touched, the timeout counter is restarted, so continuous touching could lead into a loop, the "death loop" which won't let the device to power off (standby) and will consume battery life.
    New touchscreen technology
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a touchscreen that reacts to touch from pretty much any material such as metal or clothes. This can be dangerous.
    So here is a theory
When the phone is inside a pocket or bag it can be touched by other objects. These objects can press buttons and can touch/rub the screen. This will initiate the "death loop" for who knows how much time, could be minutes or hours, depends on how active the user is since body movement will produce friction between objects/clothes and touchscreen:
The "death loop" will drain battery and battery is precious.
    Solution?
Should be simple: screen must not power on if the proximity sensor detects proximity. Current version of Windows Phone does not take care of this. The big question is: will Windows Phone 8 take care of this? Is the Lumia 920 a potential battery drainer?

I don't understand why we have to spend our valuable time in the forums for days and nights to FIND HOW TO FIX THAT CRAB!! NOKIA company did not handout these devices FOR CHARITY.All of us had paid around a thousand dollars to buy this Phone. They have got to work overtime to fix it and publish a solution otherwise recall the devices back.
