Lumia 925 - No Service, Faulty Antenna?

I've purchased an unlocked 925 but can't get any signal from either of the SIM cards I have. One card is PAYG and the other is associated with a contract. I'm assuming there is fault with the SIM card slot or the antenna, or maybe both. I also have an unlocked 800 and the networks are correctly detected with a signal available (2 bars and the HSDPA symbol) for both SIM cards in this phone. In the 925 I can see the correct phone no. displayed for both SIM cards in the phone settings. I can also see the correct networks displayed in the access point settings but no networks are detected in the mobile network settings and no signal is available. I can change the PIN for both SIM cards in the 925 and am prompted for the PIN if I reboot with SIM security enabled so I suspect the SIM card slot is working and that the fault is with the antenna. I've also checked flight mode is not enabled.
Can anyone think of anything else worth trying before I go back to the retailer for a replacement?

Having the exact same problem (day-old 925 unit), am extremely disappointed that the phone cannot receive any signal at all (I tested the same microSIM on my Lumia 800 - works fine)
Does this mean that I have to give it back for a replacement unit as well?

    #NokiaIndia i hope at least you will hear my plea ,  in the month of december 2013 i got a Lumia 925 as a Birthday gift from my sisters. It worked fine , i loved each and every feature in that phone in fact it was an amazing change from my samsung S3 . Sadly right after 12 months  while using an app, My phone just got switched off and it never is On till date. So immediately the very next day as any other Nokia Customer would do , I just went to the #NokiaCare , Explained to them about all the issues and i was ready to pay for all the damages just to get my phone back in Hand They registered and wrote all my issues with details, asked to pay an advance of Rs 50 to find out the issue and let me know. After a couple of hours I had to call back myself to  the customer care unit and find out the update. They asked me to come to the service care, once I reached the service care I was taken by surprise, The Manager from the Koramangala service centre delibrately put a pin between the screen and body of the phone and says your screen has been damaged and you need to pay 12,000 rupees as the screen and touch are in built, Later after few mins the technical person who diagnosed the phone came out and says due to water log problem the phone is not re-booting, If that is the problem you need to pay 4500 Rs.
    I asked them if this can be fixed and they were not sure if they could do it or not. With a hope I had given my phone would be reapired and I get a callr 4-5 days just to tell me that the screen is shattered from the inside and the hardware has been crashed , Then i asked them for the estimate they gave me a sum amount of 15,000, Where Rs 10000 for replacing the harware component and additional 500rs as service cost . I asked them about the warranty and they told me warranty can't be used to cover physical damage .  . Suddenly to my horror one of the Service agent gave me a call and tells me ''Sir sorry to say this Only your phone screen can be repaired and not the hardware component'' . I asked them ''What's the use of a phone which i can't use to make calls'' . they just give me a reply saying ''I Don't know'' . I Wonder how did #Nokia Service Agents instead of treating a Customer as King as well as satisfy them with their complaints say something like that ? I Believe #NokiaIndia #Nokia #Lumia is known for their durability .  Depressed and Unhappy i went to the care center they gave me back my phone , Giving it a look i found that the casing wasn't done properly.SO my question is why do I have to to shell out Rs 15000 while I can get a new phone for 25,000 Rs onine.  Its not like i broke the phone into two and gave it to the #Nokiacare just to do some miracle and get it back alive . Its totally a functioning phone , Really Disappointing customer care service firstly , charging a bomb to the customer just to repair it .  JUST 13 months OLD PHONE WORTH 30K .. Am i supposed to just forget the phone ?? or do i get any justice at all ? But seriously thanks to the amazing Nokia Care agents who Indirectly asked me to just forget my phone . Really disappointing , I pray that no one should go through a situation just like this . Spending a Bombshell for the phone and the company themselves can't repair what they made ... Hopefully someone serves justice to Customers who would have faced similar experience from the official #Nokia #Nokiacare service executives .   • How to switch off 'Cell Info' in Lumia 925

    I recently bought Lumia 925. I am getting constsnt messages pertaining to 'Cell Info'. They keep on appearing once in every few seconds & pile up in a huge number. You can not make a call unless you acknowledge all of them, which takes huge time, alternatively I have to switch the phone off & on & make a call after re-boot!!
    I was using Nokia E 63 earlier. It had a setting facility for 'Cell Info' on or off. I do not find any setting facility for 'Cell Info' in Lumia 925.
    Please guide me how to set the Cell Info off, or I will have to discard this Lumia 925

    a) I tried with SIM of other service provider : There were no troublesome flash messages. b) I contacted my service provider: Airtel: After trying for tremendous patience with support number 121, somehow I could convey the message about what was happening. My call was transferred to a senior person, who promised me that these 'Flash' messages would stop in half an hour. It did not happen. Once again through 121, once again the promises, nothing happens. I personally visited Airtel support centre. Again nothing happens. c) I tried my old E 63 & switched off Cell Info with the same SIM. I am not able to use Lumia 925 because of Flash messages accumulating every few seconds.
    Conclusions: I have to change my service provider Or Phone Or Both. – Now I may go for the last option with frustrations.

    Hi. I bought a new phone. When I start taking pictures, I quickly find out that something is wrong. All pictures look like they are out of focus on top left side. When I send phone to service, they say nothing is wrong. They said that all Lumia 925 are making the same photos. Can anybody send me your pictures, taken with Lumia 925 for comparison and to have proof they are wrong. If any of the people from Nokia are reading this, I also post 3 photos taken with my phone.
    I also search for possible problems that make this affect. Angled lens make similar affect. If you whant more details, contact me.
    From such a product like Nokia Lumia I didn't expect such a problem.

    How are you taking the photos , physical camera button, onscreen camera button or touch to focus and take ? The only one that looks to be 'out of focus' is the third one , which actually looks more blown out due to the light source. All the photos look to be focussed perfectly in the centre in each case. I honestly don't know if there is a fault with your phone, but as you have already had the phone checked I just wonder if there is anything you may be doing inadvertantly that is affecting the result ?
    Also which camera app are you using, you don't by any chance use the standard camera app and have the default set at close up ? As I say I really don't know the cause of your issue but if it has been checked I am just trying to think of possible reasons . You can of course try Nokia Care again.

  • Lumia 925 - BSOD

    Hi,
    Today my Lumia 925 was unresponsive and stuck. I have power reset the device and it was restarted but this time stuck on BSOD with a sad face on it, I tried to power reset the device multiple times but no success. Then I tried to factory restore the device, now it is showing updating screen and a progress bar but it is never completing the setup. 
    I visit to Nokia Service Center and their technician told me my main board has some power issues and need to replace and it would cost more than INR 13,000. I am very upset with their suggestion because my mobile hardware is functioning and it is seems a OS issue.
    Can someone please advise me.

    If Nokia Care says that, I guess that's what it really is. You can try re-installing the OS using the Lumia Recovery Tool, but I'm afraid it might behave the same again.

    It has been a unpleasant experience dealing with the Nokia Care centre.
    I have not got any solution for the complaint registered. Its been over 45 days now. 
    Inspite of escalating the matter several times i have not got any response
    and solution from the concerned team. Its a horrible experience and i wouldnt recommend nokia to anyone henceforth.
    The problem of Out going audio on loud speaker mode and voice recording has
    been not functioning after 8.1 Update and this has been a common problem
    with lot of 925 users. This problem has occurred due to some issues in the
    mother board of the device.
    And is within the scope of warranty terms and conditions.
    As highlighted by several lumia 925 users, this is a common problem with this intrument. 
    The handset is under normal wear and tear conditions and still i have been
    denied any service under warranty.
    This is absolutely unprofessional attitude from the Nokia team.
    Henceforth, i would be compelled to highlight this matter to social media
    followed with legal complaint. 
    Its been a non satisfying and unhappy experience dealing with Nokia.
    I would be escalating this matter.

    I recently bought the Nokia Lumia 925 from T-Mobile,and I noticed it didn't have any of the GDR3 update features were as my previous HTC 8X had them. I have been researching to see if the update has been released and majority articles say that it was released
    onto my phone. I want to know if I have a faulty phone or if the articles are wrong

    Hello, On my old Nokia E7, when I select network mode to "3G only", the tower icon changes to "3.5G".
    On my Lumia 925, when I'm selecting "Max connection speed" to "3G", there is an "E" beside the tower icon, not "3G".

    I called up my mobile operator's helpline regarding this, I'm so impatient
    Turns out I did not have 3G services activated on my number.
    They activated the 3G thing for me, asked me to switch off the phone and turn it back on after 5 minutes.
    I did that, and I think I'm on 3G now, web pages are opening instantly, the speed has increased a lot.
    However, I still don't see "3G" beside the tower.
    Now it doesn't even show "E".
    It shows "H".
    What is "H"?

    I'm considering buying Lumia 925 but I'm concerned about non-replacable battery.
    Let's assume that my warranty is already over and the battery lost its life - do I need to replace the phone, or nokia service center would be able to replace the battery somehow?

    I'm sure that it will end up as a fixed price item at Nokia Care facilities, although you could expect about 1000 charge/discharge cycles or 2 - 3 years of normal usage before replacement becomes necessary.

  • Lumia 925 WP 8.1: Use PC (win7pro) as BT headset

    Hi,
    I need to answer my calls (and possibly also texts) via my notebook (to use the PC as a headset). Hope I understood it correctly that the WP app does not support this. So I tried to add the phone via BT. It is not able to install the drivers; so I installed the standard serial over BT lines. Still does not offer the services. Could you, please, help me?

    Windows Phone supports this just fine otherwise it would also not work in your car. It's the Bluetooth stack on your laptop which does not support it being used for this.

  • Lumia 925: missing notifications when receiving te...

    On my new Lumia 925 I am missing almost all notifications when receiving regular text messages. When I say 'almost' it is because I have once seen the icon on the lock screen and the screen with the floating clock.
    I have configured messages to be shown on lock screen as well as mail, twitter and Facebook (and a couple more). Tweets (like DMs etc) are shown as icons every time - but not regular text messages.
    Is anyone experiencing the same as I am?

    I called 611 and their reply was they were unaware of this app/feature. For now I'm paying for their blocking service.
    The 611 person recommended to visit nokia.com but it seems also a dead end. Still I'm trying to find out more info on why this app is not available.
    However, I'm not ready yet to do so since I have a "Jump" contract that allows me to swap this phone with a new one after 6 months.
    If I find out more I will update this message, I hope this can help

    Hi Guys,
    I am from India purchased Lumia 925 on 25 January 2014 and just after one year of time on 31 January 2015 it was shut down and was not turning on. I submitted to the Nokia customer service center (L-2 service center) and even they were not able switch it on. After two days they send it to the higher service center (L-3 service center) and the team there were also not able to do fix the problem and finally told that it non repairable. I have tried to contact the higher management team, but the Microsoft customer care people are behaving properly and not giving me the directions clearly. It only seems to me that I have been fooled around by the team.
    I have spent around Indian Rupees 34,000 to purchase the handset and now after one year, it is just a scrap for me. I didn't expect from such a Big Brand Name.

    The company indeed has no responsibility to repair your handset for free after the warranty is over - regardless of the original price of the handset.
    The device exploding and causing damage to anyone happens only in movies after some bad people have actually put explosives in the phone. I would not call that a device malfunction by any stretch of the wildest imagination.
    You would be treated in this case the same way by any other electronics company in the world, so obviously none of them care about their brand image or brand value.
    You were just unlucky, this can happen to anyone. Accept it as your karma and move on. Ranting here will not get you anywhere, although it might make you feel better for a short while.

  • Lumia 925 phones keep dying on me

    I'm on my fourth Lumia 925 Windows Phone 8 (from T-Mobile) since September.  They work for 6 to 8 weeks, but then only boot to a solid blue screen.  The answer from T-Mobile has been to get a warranty replacement.  I have phone number 4 in my pocket, but am anticipating its death within a couple of months given my experience with the previous 3.  Is there a known issue with this model or do I just have incredibly bad luck?  Is there anything I can do to save my current Lumia 925 from an early bluescreen demise?

    Hi everyone. I bought a Lumia 925 off ebay a few months back. The phone looks new but was locked to the AT&T network. Anyway, I tried a few unlocking services but none of  them could find the unlock code for my lumia even if the phone has a clean ESN. Do you know of any way to unlock the phone or have any idea why no one has found the unlock code in any database. Thank you.

    This would need to be taken up with AT&T But the original owner can only do it.
