Lumia 925 screen freeze 20 hours

Hi can anyone help?
My 925 was new in Feb 14 and in April the screen froze for a few mins, I somehow restarted the phone all ok. However I updated to the new software on sunday and yesterday my phone suddenly froze at 12:42pm. Nothing would work including holding vol down & power button. I gave up and left the phone with 12:42 stuck on the display until 9am this morning, I noticed the was no display, the power button didn't respond so I plugged in the charger, after about 30 seconds the windows icon started flashing then after a while the phone fired up and seems ok.
I don't really want to send the phone away to be checked as that is a real hassle getting to the phone shop etc. Shall I ignore this and put down to a glitch?

Note that the Nokia Software Recovery Tool will erase all data from the phone and fresh install the OS ...and you will need to start from scratch to resetup the device ...

Lumia 925 screen freeze.

Hi everyone.
I have a returning problem with my Lumia 925 approx once a week since it was new. This happens on random, no particular tasks seems to set this off. Sometimes it is enough to press the volum down and the screenlock button until it restarts, but at other times it is necessary to have the charger connected, in order to make the screen respond after a restart.
Well...it does start...but it is rather annouing...I had the problem some few times with my previous Lumia 920 as well. And it makes me rather hesitant to buy a n Nokia the next time....
So...any suggestions as to why this is happening? Probably the OS, but not necessarily. B.t.w. I have the newest updates for my phone...always :-)
Thx for any suggestions how to avoid this in the future...

Did something happen to your phone before the issue starts to come up? Did you recently install or download any apps prior to this issue? When you you have the newest updates, does it also include the system apps shown at this link: Nokia Windows Phone 8 App Updates
Try also to do the tips offered at this link and see if the phone's performance will improve. This is for screen responsiveness, which is almost the same with your phone's issues: Troubleshooter for Nokia Lumia 925

My NOKIA LUMIA 720 -Screen freeze..Automatic fast screen touch working without my input
Since yesterday, i am facing this issue. Its 1 month old mobile.
Today i scared alot with my phone working, because my lumia 720 home screen is automatically working with out any of my input. i had seen 3 to 4 times, it struck off all once and it stands on Calculator screen or messge inbox scrren.
Some times, it automatically asking for deletion of contacts & it is asking for link of contacts to one another & it is automatically going for a new message and asking for some file attachment addition.then i feared alot and i switch off the phone immidiately.
What if, any of my images or personnel files went to a wrong person.
Please suggest any of you, what to do now.

M too having this problem.. tried soft/hard reset but no use.. updated every system and app still no use.. I dont even droped my phone that could be the cause of this f*****g problem. Now the down touch not working. but after 5 to 6 hrs of rest it started to work insanely like you said. I cant even use my phone and sometimes the call been ended coz of this stupid problem -_-"

Lumia 720 screen freezes

I am facing a touch problem on my nokia lumia 720. it freezes the screen when i press power key it gets back to normal. I have already hard reset the device. but the problem happens randomly so i cant show to nokia care representatives.

hi mate, in this case you still need to get it checked out at Nokia Care, as they are the only ones that can assist you in this instance.

Thanks for the Prompt Reply.
I'll explain in neat how this happened.
OCCURENCE 1: The first day
1. I purchased my mobile on April 20'th, which is just 2 days after it was released to stores in India.
2. That day night i just tried Wifi, contacts, people hub etc and was going well till then.
3. I wanted to change brightness settings so, i was checking auto, low, high etc. I set it to Low, Then Locked the phone using the button on the side. After a minute i wanted to open up the Camera by pressing on the shutter button (when the phone is still in the locked condition). I did not see any camera opening up. I then tried to Unlock the screen and it dint. I tried almost everything, volume up, down etc.. nothing happened.
I tried to connect the USB cable to the Phone and access it through laptop, and gracefully i saw that the folders appearing on the browser. Hence i confirmed that the phone had power supply and some part of it is still running.
Please note that this just happened as i said 1) change screen brightness - changed few times between options, and finally settled down to Low 2) Locked the screen 3) Tried to Open camera by press and hold Shutter button of camera. -> Thats it after that i was not able to see anything on the screen.. The screen was clear Black and even the windows and other two icons below did not glow for any operation i did..
I had to reset the phone to get something on the display back again.
And clearly to say that - This Problem is not re-producible in the same way again.
OCCURENCE 2: 4-5 days later(This time luckily i dint want to restart, plase read below)
1) I was in the "settings" menu searching something on the settings. I think i set the wifi on and came back to the settings main view.
2) assuming wifi was on, i wanted to go back and open browser, so i press the back key and nothing happened. Still the settings menu was showing up.
3) So i thought it was stuck and tried to click something on the settings. Neither a touch nor any sort of selection was not accepted. instead the screen Freezed in the same Settings menu.
4) NOW, i just randomly tried few moves on the screen just to try wake it up. And i found a glimpse of LOCK SCREEN coming down from the top (i think) in a slow motion (unusual than the normal appearance).
5) Now i have the lock screen infront of me, and i slowly slide it up as usual. The phone was unlocked and then i had the settings menu there which now resumed working.
This was strange to me as a Software Programmer to realize why the lock screen appeared on the fist place and why was the settings menu first was not responding.
Please note that this time i dint have to restart the phone luckily.
OCCURENCE 3: Seven days later after the purchase
1. Installed photosyth. Took a photosynth capture

2. If you see this photosynth image, in some place you will note a Green Color like coating sort of a paint on just the left of the church View. It sort of covers the leaves like a thin green Film.
3. Please note - that was the last frame i shot in the Photosynth lens before i continued to stitch.
4. Stitching complete and the image was just as you see in the above photosynth Link.
5. After this i wanted to use camera normally, and when i do so, i see everything as "that green color" which appears in the photosynth image that i mentioned. i closed Camera and opened it again from the start menu, and NO... Still it was the same green. I wasnt able to see any objects that i aim. Fully green.
6. Left with no options, but in a hurry to take a picture, i had to restart the device..
These are the just three occurences that i had during these 10 days after purchase.
I tried hard later on to test the device by trying the same things, but never happened. I am particularyly bothered ONLY about the issue 1 & 2. Third issue is definely because of PhotoSynth causing something. May be it didnt flush anything out of the camera buffer memory.. or dont know what exactly made that green there in the image and later on the full viewfinder...
The device otherwise works exceptionally well and hence i dint want to immediatly go and check with Nokia Care, because the problem was not perfectly re-producible.
==> What do you think? I certainly feel that it could be a software issue with 1 & 2?
1) Would you be interested in some logs in case the issue occurs again?
2) If the issue occurs again, and i just take the phone immediately to Nokia Care, should i suggest something to them on Your behalf so that they dont try to diagnose something wrong? Because if they reset it, reproducing the issue is hard.
3) Do you think i would need to ask Nokia Care to run any diagnostic tests for "this specific issue"? Do you have such a test available & instructed to all Nokia Care Engineers?
Please suggest. Rest all things in the phone are fine and its absolutely smooth. Even if i exchange, i dont have guarantee / rather convinced that this issue will popup again in the new phone (if at all). So i want to know the root cause before i exchange so that it does not appear again in the new phone.

Has anyone had problems with the screen freezing for hours?

Yesterday my phone kept freezing when I went to unlock it, after 5 minutes or so it would then go to the code unlocking screen but last night my screen frooze for 12 hours until it finally ran out of battery and shut down. When the screen freezes there is no way to force a shut down...can anyone help?

If the screen freezes, reset the phone - press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears (~10 seconds). If freezing recurs frequently, restore the phone. See Appendix B of the User Guide:

Lumia 720 Screen Freezed

I am also facing the screen freezing issue, i have also tried the below solution for 5-6 times but still my phone screen is not working.....
Press and hold the Volume down and the Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds. After doing this my phone restarted but still screen is not working and unable to do anything on my phone.

I presume by freezing you mean the screen is not working at all. Do you think the phone is otherwise working but the display just isn't coming on? I think perhap it might be a hardware issue and you should get it checked out at your local Nokia care point.

i have a lumia 620 and i update it through the phone settings OTA, after restart the screen remains freeze at the start lockscreen nothing works exept side buttons.. and thats not all before 620 i had a 520 wich is a **bleep** piece, same problems with screen
A honest question to nokia : Guys what sort of "error" is that ? What's wrong with you guys ? I switched from iphone 4 wich worked perfectly fine in 3 years after tons of updates..to this lumia 620, I NEVER EVER GONNA BUY ANOTHER NOKIA PRODUCT

We understand your sentiments, xtrad3. Let us further isolate the issue.
When you say 'software update', are you referring to Lumia Black? What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Have you tried to reboot the Lumia 620 by pressing and holding the volume down and power keys until it vibrates and restarts?
If the screen works after rebooting, try to verify if the software is fully updated. If it's the Lumia Black software that you just downloaded, check if it shows up under Settings > Extras + Info. Try also to check if all system apps are updated. You can scan the app codes shown at this link: Nokia Windows Phone 8 App Updates.
By the way, if you still have your Lumia 520 and had the issue with it after a software update as well, you may try the same troubleshooting steps given above. We'd appreciate it if you'll update us with the outcome.

If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.

While doing a non-iTunes upgrade to 8.02 my iPad froze on the apple screen. After hours of waiting I forced a power off. Froze in same place. Tried attaching to iTunes on PC from power off. Freezing in same place. Any ideas?

I Don't know that recovery mode would work, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
IF that fails, have you considered erasing the device using Find my iPhone in iCloud.com? I'm not sure what good that would do either of the iPad continues to freeze, but if nothing else is working .....

My screen freeze daily from nokia Lumia 920

The last days my screen freeze and then I always need put back the time

This used to happen on my 920. I traced the problem back to an app that behaved badly when its tile was pinned to the home screen.
What apps have you installed recently? If any over the past few days you might want to take a closer look at those in particular.
Also, have you received the Amber/GDR2 update yet? If not, make sure that settings -> date+time -> set automatically is off as that caused instability.
If none of this works you might have to go down the factory reset route. Make sure that everything of yours is backed up because this will wipe the phone absolutely clean.
Go into settings -> about, then scroll down and tap on "reset your phone".
The phone will restart and you'll see spinning gears on the screen. This should only last for a few minutes but has been known to drag on with some phones. If yours does get stuck there are a few things you can try:
1) Press simultaneously on "Vol. down" and "power" for 15 seconds. This will cause the phone to reboot again, but possibly back to the spinning gears. Try this option a few times.
2) If the previous option doesn't work then let the battery die. If you then plug a charger into the phone, it'll take about 10 minutes to wake up, but when it does it should be fine and start going through with its initialisation sequence.

Lumia 925 Blank Screen

I have had a few glitches with the screen but nothing that has detered from use but this evening the whole screen has gone blank, I have tried charging and it isnt recognising that it is charging by vibrating and it wont switch on/ off.
Any help with this? I dont really want to have to send it off for repair as I only got it in December....

Similar problems with my device too. If power on, the screen flickers and doesn't even switch on. This was a replacement new device that i got 4 weeks back. The only way I can switch on is use the camera button to wake up the phone, but even that works only once in a while. Now I have forwaded my calls to a different phone and waiting to send the phone back (worst the Nokia support team already sent the phone back reporting no faults).

Lumia 925 swtiches off all of a sudden

#NokiaIndia i hope at least you will hear my plea , in the month of december 2013 i got a Lumia 925 as a Birthday gift from my sisters. It worked fine , i loved each and every feature in that phone in fact it was an amazing change from my samsung S3 . Sadly right after 12 months while using an app, My phone just got switched off and it never is On till date. So immediately the very next day as any other Nokia Customer would do , I just went to the #NokiaCare , Explained to them about all the issues and i was ready to pay for all the damages just to get my phone back in Hand They registered and wrote all my issues with details, asked to pay an advance of Rs 50 to find out the issue and let me know. After a couple of hours I had to call back myself to the customer care unit and find out the update. They asked me to come to the service care, once I reached the service care I was taken by surprise, The Manager from the Koramangala service centre delibrately put a pin between the screen and body of the phone and says your screen has been damaged and you need to pay 12,000 rupees as the screen and touch are in built, Later after few mins the technical person who diagnosed the phone came out and says due to water log problem the phone is not re-booting, If that is the problem you need to pay 4500 Rs.
I asked them if this can be fixed and they were not sure if they could do it or not. With a hope I had given my phone would be reapired and I get a callr 4-5 days just to tell me that the screen is shattered from the inside and the hardware has been crashed , Then i asked them for the estimate they gave me a sum amount of 15,000, Where Rs 10000 for replacing the harware component and additional 500rs as service cost . I asked them about the warranty and they told me warranty can't be used to cover physical damage . . Suddenly to my horror one of the Service agent gave me a call and tells me ''Sir sorry to say this Only your phone screen can be repaired and not the hardware component'' . I asked them ''What's the use of a phone which i can't use to make calls'' . they just give me a reply saying ''I Don't know'' . I Wonder how did #Nokia Service Agents instead of treating a Customer as King as well as satisfy them with their complaints say something like that ? I Believe #NokiaIndia #Nokia #Lumia is known for their durability . Depressed and Unhappy i went to the care center they gave me back my phone , Giving it a look i found that the casing wasn't done properly.SO my question is why do I have to to shell out Rs 15000 while I can get a new phone for 25,000 Rs onine. Its not like i broke the phone into two and gave it to the #Nokiacare just to do some miracle and get it back alive . Its totally a functioning phone , Really Disappointing customer care service firstly , charging a bomb to the customer just to repair it . JUST 13 months OLD PHONE WORTH 30K .. Am i supposed to just forget the phone ?? or do i get any justice at all ? But seriously thanks to the amazing Nokia Care agents who Indirectly asked me to just forget my phone . Really disappointing , I pray that no one should go through a situation just like this . Spending a Bombshell for the phone and the company themselves can't repair what they made ... Hopefully someone serves justice to Customers who would have faced similar experience from the official #Nokia #Nokiacare service executives . Or does it just happen in India because of the emotion-less Service agents that i encountered with . #Nokia #Lumia #NokiaIndia #Microsoft.
