Lumia 925 went from amber to 8.0 after remote wipe...

Hi all,
I have had my lumia 925 for 1 day and it was running amber. I tested out the remote wipe function from windowsphone.com but it installed OS 8.0 on the device. And now the device also wont upgrade to amber. WHen I search for update it also takes some time to come back and say no update availble.
Have tried ressetingAny help appreciated

Some system apps got updated a few times after the amber update and their latest versions is not included in your phone ROM, so when you do a hard/factory reset, you lose those updates too. The store app will notify you about those updates, but not sooner than a few days. So it's better to update those manually.
As mentioned by paulheu, that's not a "pre-amber" state, amber is already installed but you do not have required app updates. To update those system apps, please follow the link that paulheu gave.
After a reset, as mentioned by WildSabre, you can visit Windows Phone Purchase History page to see and reinstall the apps that you have before the reset.
Also, you can use Lumia System Updater  app to see which system apps requires an update.
The silence will fall

  • Lumia 925 - what will happen to my phone after bat...

    Hello,
I'm considering buying Lumia 925 but I'm concerned about non-replacable battery.
Let's assume that my warranty is already over and the battery lost its life - do I need to replace the phone, or nokia service center would be able to replace the battery somehow?
    Thanks

I'm sure that it will end up as a fixed price item at Nokia Care facilities, although you could expect about 1000 charge/discharge cycles or 2 - 3 years of normal usage before replacement becomes necessary.

  • Lumia 925: charging from MacBook

    Hi Folks,
Hoping someone might have a clue as to what's going on with my phone.  I bought it a few months ago and since then I have had no problems at all connecting it to my MacBook Pro, but since last week it just won't connect; the Windows Phone app just doesn't find it.  OK, I rebooted the phone and my Mac, no difference. Re-installed Windows Phone app, still no difference.
I couldn't be bothered fighting with it as I can upload the photos to SkyDrive, and am not that bothered about music, but now it has decided that it won't even charge when plugged in to the Mac.  It makes the 'charging' noise for a few seconds then stops.  I've tried different cables, different USB ports to no avaii.
It charges ok from a plug, but only works 1 in 3 times with the charger plate despite making sure the connectors are in the right place, and sometimes if I get it to charge it just stops for no reason.  This morning it appeared to have charged but when I lifted the phone off the plate it was down at the 'critically low' battery stage.
I've taken it to the O2 shop and they said they can send it away but there are no reports of similar problems to make them think it's a quality issue, so I don't get a replacement phone when it goes away.
Has anyone had, or heard of this issue or a similar one?  If so, is there an easy fix?
One last thing - it randomly launches apps, all on its own.  Like it can just be sitting there and all of a sudden the voice recognition will run, or the camera.  Is that normal?  I really want to love this phone but it's doing my head in!
Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom.
    Suzy.

If you are contemplating returning device, it might be worthwhile "resetting it" and then install SysApp Pusher to make sure that everything is up to date:http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/sysapp-pusher/19d44d9e-f18e-4df1-9bce-36335242ed2e

  • Lumia 925 Not Repairable

    Hi Guys,
I am from India purchased Lumia 925 on 25 January 2014 and just after one year of time on 31 January 2015 it was shut down and was not turning on. I submitted to the Nokia customer service center (L-2 service center) and even they were not able switch it on. After two days they send it to the higher service center (L-3 service center) and the team there were also not able to do fix the problem and finally told that it non repairable. I have tried to contact the higher management team, but the Microsoft customer care people are behaving properly and not giving me the directions clearly. It only seems to me that I have been fooled around by the team.
I have spent around Indian Rupees 34,000 to purchase the handset and now after one year, it is just a scrap for me. I didn't expect from such a Big Brand Name.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The company indeed has no responsibility to repair your handset for free after the warranty is over - regardless of the original price of the handset.
The device exploding and causing damage to anyone happens only in movies after some bad people have actually put explosives in the phone. I would not call that a device malfunction by any stretch of the wildest imagination.
You would be treated in this case the same way by any other electronics company in the world, so obviously none of them care about their brand image or brand value.
You were just unlucky, this can happen to anyone. Accept it as your karma and move on. Ranting here will not get you anywhere, although it might make you feel better for a short while.

  • Migrating to a Lumia 925 from a C6-01

    Hi all,
I currently have a Nokia C6-01 Belle phone and I've just bought myself a Lumia 925. As I expect the Lumia 925 to be delivered to my home in a couple of days, I have to make a plan on how to migrate my data from the C6-01 to the Lumia 925.
Contacts: I already synced the C6-01 to my Microsoft Live account. I managed to do that by setting up an EAS (Exchange Active Sync) email account on the C6-01. So, when I get my Lumia 925 and log into my Microsoft account, the contacts will be automatically synced.
Photos & Videos: no problem here, I'll just need to upload to my SkyDrive the media I want to see on the Lumia 925.
Nokia Maps favourite places, collections and routes are also covered: the Maps app on my C6-01 is always synced with HERE.com. All I'll have to do is sync the Lumia 925 Maps app.
Browser bookmarks: I use two browser on the C6-01: the native Belle Browser and Opera Mobile. On each of them I have a different set of bookmarks which I would like to transfer to Internet Explorer on the Lumia 925. I have no idea on how to do that.
Calendar entries and tasks (to-do): I don't know how to transfer them to the Lumia 925.
Notes: I have several notes I need to transfer to the Lumia 925.
SMS messages: I have a lot of them on my C6-01 I would like to transfer to the Lumia 925. I guess those messages are stored on the C6-01 internal memory, not on the SIM card.
I would appreciate any help you can give me on how to transfer my data from the C6-01 to the Lumia 925.
    P.S.:
I'm now reading the Lumia 925 User Manual, which says on page 14 of the UK version:
    "Copy contacts
Have your nearest and dearest instantly at your fingertips. Use the Transfer my Data app to easily copy your contacts and text messages from your old phone. Your old phone needs to support Bluetooth. The contacts on your old phone need to be stored in the
phone memory, not on the SIM."
If that's correct, it's possible to transfer SMS messages from the my old phone to the 925 via Bluetooth. What do you know about that?
    Best regards,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia Suite (v3.6.x and later) allows for an easy transfer of contacts, calendar and photos to your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone via SkyDrive.
    Here's how this feature works;
Connect your Nokia S40, S60 or Nokia Belle phone to your PC using the USB cable.
After Nokia Suite is started and your phone shows as connected select Tools>Upload to SkyDrive and follow the on screen instructions. If you do not have one yet you will have to create a Microsoft account which has a SkyDrive attached to it. You can create such account here.
You will now have to reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone. Doing so will erase all content from the phone and return it to it's 'out of the box' state. Make sure you have synced any media files to your PC (Zune for WP7.x devices / copy them through explorer on WP8.x devices) or Mac(Connector). You can sync these back after the reset. When finished reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone using Settings>about>reset your phone.
Go through the Device First Use sequence and when asked enter your Microsoft Account used to save the content from Nokia Suite. When the setup has finished your will find your contacts, calendar and photos have all transferred to your Lumia. These will also be available through your Microsoft account through the web interface. The list of installed (paid) apps is also restored and the phone will start downloading these once the restore is complete. You can switch to WiFi for this if you have access.
It is important to note this transfer will only work to the Nokia Lumia at the Device First Use sequence (after a reset). If you have your Lumia setup it will not look for or sync the information copied to SkyDrive through Nokia Suite.
SMS message can not be transferred directly, but you can export all messages in Nokia Suite (Messaging>File/Export all text messages) and open the resulting Comma Separated File (.csv) in Excel or OpenOffice Calc to create an Excel sheet (.xls file) this can then be copied to your SkyDrive and opened from the Office app. You could also use a tool to create separate files from the exported .CSV file and copy all of these to SkyDrive.
I would begin with using Nokia Suite to transfer the data you can transfer this way tou the SkyDrive registered to your Microsoft account as you can do this now. When you receive the 925 make sure cellular data is enabled during the Device first use sequence and once you enter the Microsoft account login and password the data will sync to the phone from there.
Anthing else after that you might want to let us know so we can see what best way to do this.

  • Lumia 925 swtiches off all of a sudden

#NokiaIndia i hope at least you will hear my plea ,  in the month of december 2013 i got a Lumia 925 as a Birthday gift from my sisters. It worked fine , i loved each and every feature in that phone in fact it was an amazing change from my samsung S3 . Sadly right after 12 months  while using an app, My phone just got switched off and it never is On till date. So immediately the very next day as any other Nokia Customer would do , I just went to the #NokiaCare , Explained to them about all the issues and i was ready to pay for all the damages just to get my phone back in Hand They registered and wrote all my issues with details, asked to pay an advance of Rs 50 to find out the issue and let me know. After a couple of hours I had to call back myself to  the customer care unit and find out the update. They asked me to come to the service care, once I reached the service care I was taken by surprise, The Manager from the Koramangala service centre delibrately put a pin between the screen and body of the phone and says your screen has been damaged and you need to pay 12,000 rupees as the screen and touch are in built, Later after few mins the technical person who diagnosed the phone came out and says due to water log problem the phone is not re-booting, If that is the problem you need to pay 4500 Rs.
I asked them if this can be fixed and they were not sure if they could do it or not. With a hope I had given my phone would be reapired and I get a callr 4-5 days just to tell me that the screen is shattered from the inside and the hardware has been crashed , Then i asked them for the estimate they gave me a sum amount of 15,000, Where Rs 10000 for replacing the harware component and additional 500rs as service cost . I asked them about the warranty and they told me warranty can't be used to cover physical damage .  . Suddenly to my horror one of the Service agent gave me a call and tells me ''Sir sorry to say this Only your phone screen can be repaired and not the hardware component'' . I asked them ''What's the use of a phone which i can't use to make calls'' . they just give me a reply saying ''I Don't know'' . I Wonder how did #Nokia Service Agents instead of treating a Customer as King as well as satisfy them with their complaints say something like that ? I Believe #NokiaIndia #Nokia #Lumia is known for their durability .  Depressed and Unhappy i went to the care center they gave me back my phone , Giving it a look i found that the casing wasn't done properly.SO my question is why do I have to to shell out Rs 15000 while I can get a new phone for 25,000 Rs onine.  Its not like i broke the phone into two and gave it to the #Nokiacare just to do some miracle and get it back alive . Its totally a functioning phone , Really Disappointing customer care service firstly , charging a bomb to the customer just to repair it .  JUST 13 months OLD PHONE WORTH 30K .. Am i supposed to just forget the phone ?? or do i get any justice at all ? But seriously thanks to the amazing Nokia Care agents who Indirectly asked me to just forget my phone . Really disappointing , I pray that no one should go through a situation just like this . Spending a Bombshell for the phone and the company themselves can't repair what they made ... Hopefully someone serves justice to Customers who would have faced similar experience from the official #Nokia #Nokiacare service executives . Or does it just happen in India because of the emotion-less Service agents that i encountered with . #Nokia #Lumia #NokiaIndia #Microsoft. Hope this goes Viral and my phone gets replaced or repaired .
    Thanking you
    Unhappy Customer

  • Lumia 925, earpiece audio trouble (voice calls)

Background: I am a T-Mobile USA subscriber. Previously owned a Lumia 710, then switched to 810 when it became available. Great products; I've been very happy with both. Two weeks ago gave the 810 to another family member and got the Lumia 925.
I love the 925. The screen is great, the phone is light, and the camera amazing. Except for one thing. The first day I had the 925, I noticed that the audio from the earpiece did not no sound right. While on calls, the earpiece had a nasty buzz to it, sounding like a damaged speaker. The audio quality while on speakerphone was perfect, so I could not blame T-Mobile's network. I took the phone back to T-Mobile and they replaced it, no questions asked.
The second 925 sounded great. The earpiece audio was clear, without any buzzing or audio glitches. I was a happy man and everything was great, that is, until yesterday. Now the second 925 developed a similar bad audio quality during calls, but only from the earpiece. The speakerphone sounds fine, and using a bluetooth headset sounds fine also. It is not easy to describe the "badness" of the audio but there is a significant decrease in quality. The audio level seems to be down; with the volume all the way up, you can barely hear the other caller. The audio also has a buzzy, muffled quality to it, almost as if it is coming out of a tin can, and it is not easy to understand the caller. I tried calling my old Lumia 810 and the sound on the 810 is just fine. The trouble seems to be only the earpiece on the 925.
This morning I went back to T-Mobile and they replaced the SIM card. I'm not sure how that would help, but they said it should help if this is a network issue. That was 5 hours ago and the audio quality has not improved at all. I have also performed a full phone reset, then reloaded my previous settings, but the problem persists. At this point it appears to be a hardware issue, but it is very odd that it happened on the first 925 right away, and on the replacement one as well, but after two weeks. Beside the bad earpiece audio the phone works great. The apps work as they should, and the camera is lovely, but if I first need the device to function as a phone.
I am debating if I should try a third Lumia 925. I am a bit reluctant, as I'm afraid that it might break again. At least now it is within the 30 day return period, but what if this issue happens later? I would love to stick with Lumia but these issues with the 925 are worrisome.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with my Nokia Lumia 925.  Voice in the earpiece audio is otherwise ok but when the other person is saying the S-letter in a word the earpiece audio makes it sound like other person is having a lisp or something. It's really annoying. Same effect comes when other person on the line is inhaling or exhaling. There is this whoosh sound the earpiece is making on S-letters, inhale - exhale sounds and on other low frequency background noices. Phone was like this from my first calls after unboxing. ...
I was thinking how to describe my audio problems with 925 but you did it perfectly! I have exactly the same problems with the S-letters, inhaling, exhaling etc. which makes every voice call more or less annoying experience.
I was thinking to replace the unit but the longer I read this thread, the more I start to think this is "a feature" i.e. bad design and/or poor HW choices. That said, ff this is so common issue, I wonder howcome there wasn't anything about this in those several reviews L925 was subjected to when it was released. Or are the reviewers so busy in testing the 'smart phone' feature that they do not spend time to mundane stuff like voice call quality.
I love the phone otherwise; looks great, has fantastic camera, crisp and cleat display - anyhow, had I known about this, I would have left this to the store.
    EDIT:
    supersape wrote:
I was making a Skype call from my Lumia 925 yesterday and with Skype the earpiece audio was clear and there was no whooshing disturbing the call. So i guess the speaker is working properly in Lumia 925 but the problem might be in 3G/4G reception (or somewhere else) that disturbs the call quality creating this whooshing in a call.
Havent' tried myself but if this is true, this starts to sound like some voice codec issue. ...which would be strange since one would think that the same speech encoding/decoding implementations are used in all Lumias so why would there be problems specifically in 925.
The good with this option would be that it's probably possible to fix with SW update. Provided that Nokia is aware of the problem or better yet, interested to anything about it.

  • Bricked Lumia 925

This morning I woke up to a bricked Lumia 925. When I went to bed yesterday night, the phone was more than half full on battery.
The phone has now been connected to power (both to a regular socket and via USB in my PC) for a couple of hours - but it is still not reacting at all.
Does anyone have a solution to this - apart from returning it to my carrier?
    Thanks,

Try a soft reset to see if you can bring it to life (Vol Down + Power button til it vibrates) if not, maybe a hard reset (Vol Down + Power + Camera Key - This Will Erase User Data though!!). Failing that, be prepared to visit your dealer or a care centre.

  • Should I get a Lumia 925? Experience so far is ba...

So I've used Nokias since forever - viva la Snake.  However it's time to renew again and I'm currently wondering whether to stick with Lumia/winphone after my last year with a Lumia 900.
I've had a looky at the marketing
    http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/phones/compare/?action=productcompareaction&products=1811462-2447774-8089...
    https://www.nokia.com/gb-en/imaging
    http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/phones/phone/lumia925/?cid=ncomprod-fw-src-na-uklfdevicerangelumia9252013...
and as always it looks like great features thre for the taking.  However my experience has left me sour over a number of things :
1 - I still have an N90 that is unable to backup the mail store (SMS) to PC, so I can never truely have them saved and then wipe it to give to someone else
2 - I once managed to bring my otherwise reliable as hell N95 8G that lasted me years
3 - People I know with Lumia 800/900/720 etc have all had problems whereby the phone spontaneously reboots - or worse it shows you the red battery screen and refuses to power up or charge (at 1 point the only solution was to sit on it to warm it up before it would start charging!) but I've had this happen on my 900 even when mostly fully charged - why!
4 - Having been used to using Nokia PCsuite 7 to backup and export my SMS/contacts/media to PC (eg SMS as individual files aswell as handy .csv file) and backup the phone itself each month, and take screenshots and browse the phone HD using file explorer apps (been doing all that for years and about 3 previous phones) - I got my Lumia and was pleased to see that winphone7 now had no backup/restore functionality (only when you upgrade - which is like never - meaning no backup/restore when you need it), no export/save of SMS/contacts to files or .csv lists (no more backed up history/logs), and no screenshot functionality.  I even had to use Zune just to get the media to copy over as you can't browse it as a drive.  It feels like I justjumped 10y and 4 phones into the past!
5 - my N95 8G was stunning in its time for photos/video - one of the first videos I shot was fireworks and that looked good even outputting to a HDTV using the equally cool composite output socket on the phone (another lost feature).  However the images from my Lumia 900 have been consistently grainy in low light (even when following online guides on manual settings or just leaving it as auto) or blurry even when using screentouch isntead of button-half-down to prime focus.  It left me with the feeling of digicams that say "8mp" but mean "4mp interlaced" or something. Some of my N95 photos are more crisp and clear than my Lumia 900 ones.
6 - hell I can't even rotate a photo that auto-sensed itself the wrong way round when it was taken - not from the camera-roll at least and not without it editing all the exif data etc to make it act like a new photo - yet this happens to be all thet time if you're taking a photo pointing down and it doesn't know which rotation to use it seems
7 - I know modern phones with demanding power and huge screens drink battery, but I charged my N95 8G once or twie a week.  My Lumia 900 needs charging every night and if I actually use wifi or heaven forbid data during the day I don't even make it to the night - restricting as hell  ><
That's probably not an exhaustive list - but seriously - I feel I lost so much functionality when I went from 4y of N95 8G to the Lumia 900.  As far as I'm aware I don't even have a way to backup/save/export my SMS etc from here when I want to upgrade (I've not installed the latest update just because that means I can technically make it save when I want to now by letting the update run through).  The Lumias also seem to have always had problems which feel like a product that wasn't ever fully quality controlled ot finished testing - things like spontaneous reboots and the red battery screen justs houldn't be happening but years later and lots more models of Lumias out there and I'm still hearing about it?
So ok - what is a guy to do?  Are some of these shortcomings now adjusted?  Is wp8 making up for it all?  Can I backup/restore at will, take screenshots, access/export my SMS etc like I could with 10yo Nokia symbian phones?  I sure as hell hope so

I would buy anything that would protect phone. I personally purchased invisible shield screen protector and clear silicon crystal case. Cases added about 2 mm in thickness but also added extra protection that I can't refuse.
Verizon's replacement policy about damaged phones states that if phone was damaged due to user misuse (say dropped, sat on, water damaged) unless user has a protection plan on the account, replacement will not be given.

  • Problem with Nokia Lumia 925

This is what i encountered with my nokia Lumia 925 after 3 days of usage, i am not sure anyone besides me, facing the same problem.
    - Overheating, after taking few photos, the phone feel a sudden of heat near the camera.
    - Freeze, the phone freeze sometimes, and auto turn off the wifi, when you open it, it says you need to restart the phone, before can turn on the wifi.
    - Music + videos apps, when you swipe your music in the apps, the apps freezes, but music still playing. Frustrated when you trying to change tracks.
    - Video, i transfer some of my video via windows 8 to the phone, some of it lagging while playing the video. i have try numerous video format, it is still the same. I think it is a software problem. It works fine on my old lumia.
    - Auto reboot, my phone has been reboot for 2 times, one time is after a called, another one is after i finish using my wechat application.
Lastly, i love lumia 925, i think the design and the pictures capability are what i really in love with, but i hope someone from nokia could tell me how to solve the above problems.

Hi, Di_vico. Does this mean you are not using the case anymore? Do you have a Lumia 925 as well?
As the concern is present with a case on, try doing the below steps. Let's check if these will correct it.
    1. Press and hold the volume down and the power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10-15 seconds). Your phone will restart automatically.
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-ph/how-to/wp8/phones-and-hardware/restart-my-phone
    2. Check that your device is running the latest software version. Go to Settings > phone update.
    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-ph/how-to/wp8/basics/how-do-i-update-my-phone-software
Make sure that all the system apps are updated. You can go to Settings > applications > store > check for updates. You can also scan the QR codes from the below link:

Hey. I just bought a Nokia Lumia 925 too and had the same problem!
Trying to transfer the SMS messages onto my 925 from my 800, it detects 500 messages, says it copied 499 but it only copied them up till 30/4, which is way short of the actual amount.
Transfer My Data app is the latest version.
Not sure if its an app limitation or a bug?

  • Lumia 925 - GPS inaccurate after WP8.1 update

I have been using my Lumia 925 to track my jogs for half a year (using Sportstracker and Endomondo apps). Also, I use a separate sports clock with GPS. My phone and the sports clock have been givin really similar results. Couple of weeks back I updated my phone with WP8.1. After the update, my Lumia 925 has started giving me much longer distances (about 500 metres difference on a 10 km run) on my jogs compared to the sports clock. When looking into the tracked routes of the runs on the map, it can be clearly seen that the route is not as accurate as they used to be.
Did the WP8.1 update do some changes to the GPS finctionality, and how this issue could be solved?

interesting. not sure if any behaviour has changed with the WP8.1 update, but have u checked you are up to date with the latest firmware version and also the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store?also try performing a soft reset, and see if anyone else has reported this bug to SportsTracker or Endomondo.

  • Lumia 925 + wireless charging back = broken BT voi...

I'm posting this in case anyone else has discovered this problem.
I've got a Lumia 925 with the wireless charging back fitted. If I use the phone with a Bluetooth headset to listen to audio on the phone, it is fine. If I use the BT headset, or BT functionality in my car, to make or receive a telephone call, the voice audio is very broken and intermittent. Sometimes ending and restarting the call clears it, but not very often.
What *does* cure the problem is removing the wireless charging back. I have noted that the phone does NOT need to actually be charging for the interference - it just needs to be fitted.
I am NOT sure if the problem is being caused by the accessory or by the phone itself. I am arranging for the accessory to be replaced first (less hassle) but it could well be the phone.

I am having the same exact problem. I was initially thinking that this is some compatability issue between my car's integrated BT support, but as you suggested, once I have removed the charging cover, the issue is gone. What's interesting is that this will continue even if the cover is removed from the phone and until next restart of the phone.
Anyone has solution to this? BTW: I can confirm that in my previous Lumia 920 and my wife's Lumia 820 with wireless cover this does not happen.

  • Lumia 925 rebooted after cyan update (everything i...

    Hi all,
I installed Cyan update less than a week ago (Finland). Everything worked fine, but today my Lumia 925 started to install by itself software updates after which it erased ALL information (pictures, personal software. addressbook  etc) from the phone! I also received an SMS from Microsoft congratulating me for buying a Lumia! All the software that is left is the "original" as if I just had purchased the phone.
I logged into my Microsoft account but no information was recovered. I guess this has to do with cyan update.
    Can you help me please?!

You should not need to use the software reinstallation tool in this case, simply perform a reset of the phone from Settings, provided the backup option was switched on before the update you will have a backup linked to your Microsoft account, and your contacts at least are automatically sunced with that anyway. Automatic back-ups are normally switched on by defalut.
When the phone starts after the reset, there is an option during the boot-up process that asks if you wish to reinstall an earlier backup. Again, as long as you had all options selected, the resotration would inlude all items from the last back-up.
With regard to the update happening automatically, the phone can (if the setting is switched on) download updates automatically but it is not installed automatically, you would have received a notification on the screen and you would have pressed to install, perhaps this happened at a time when you were preoccupied and you pressed without checking what the notification referred to.
The welcome message is an automated part of the initial boot-up process, even after resets and updates.
