Lumia Icon: Differing Battery Life

Owners of white Lumia Icons, including myself, have noticed disappointing battery life, while owners of Black Icons have stellar battery life, lasting up to 24 hours. I'd usually pin this on differing styles of use, but the problem is widespread enough that it deserves an investigation by support. Perhaps it's due to Nokia using differing firmware depending on the color of the phone?
And yes, I have tried the usual battery saving tactics.

To say there is two different hardwears in a different coloured device is bonkers, imo, mainly this is all in the head as tow saying the black one is different than the white one,if your device is not up to par and you feel there is an issue return it to point of puchase or a nokia care point..
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 2 different battery life readings?

Im alittle confused here. im getting 2 different battery life readings.
For instance, on the iphone(small battery on the top right of the screen) it shows
around 40% charge left. When i connect it to my pc the big green bar shows up. but it shows that i have over 50% charge left. Why is this?

The bar in the top right corner of the screen is just used mainly as an idea of how much is left. The green bar is larger, therefore can have more detail, so it can so a more accurate reading.

  • Lumia 710 Remaining Battery Life % Not Correct

I've had my Lumia 710 for a few months now and over the past week the remaining battery life percentage is way wrong.  For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%.  I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me.  A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%.  A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.
This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work.  After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery.  But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that.  Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?  It was accurate the first few months after I got the phone so I don't know what is going on.

    Hi stephwin,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Sounds like they may be something wrong with the battery, especially the sudden battery "deaths" without any prior warning indicate that. We would advise you to visit your local Nokia Care point and let them have a look. Nokia Lumia 710 has a removable battery, so changing it should not be too much of a hassle if it comes to that.
Let us know how you get on,

  • Lumia 920 overheating/battery life

I sent my phone in for repair a week ago because of a loose battery and have since got the phone back and it is all fine and it doesn't clunk around now, however I noticed on my commute to work this morning and on my way home that when I was playing games on the device (temple run, asphalt 7 and VBA8), it would cause the phone to run really hot as If I was touching a radiator. Battery life also dipped from 99% to 13% within roughly and hour and a half of use, so I have attached a screenshot of the battery level app to display this. Is this a known issue or another repair job?

Same problem here. I got a new black lumia 920, 2 weeks ago at SLot limited, Ikeja. and it heats up ,
    1. whenever I browse on 3G, (FB, twitter or skype)
    2.when I take some pictures (like 7 at a go)...forget games, I won't even go there
I've turned most of the perks (NFC, location et al off)... I thought this was a smartphone, why do we have to make it a 3310 for it to work...I also saw the video,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU6soZi61GQ,  If the problem is the procesor, why doesnt Nokia do the dignified thing and call back the faulty phones or equip the care centres with the technical know-how to insulate these phones. especially for their flagship phone... This is absolutely sad.
I was actually thinking of going to the care centre before but from the reviews above, It just a waste of time. We should all have been advised at the point of purchase that we were buying a radiator....hiss

  • New OS, New MLB, Different Battery Life?

Been noticing that since I upgraded the OS on my iBook from Jaguar to Panther that my battery life is shorter. The only other contributing factor as well is that I had the iBook repaired by Apple (took them several times to get it right) and had a new Logic Board installed.
I used to get about 4 hours (sometimes a little more!) from 100% down to 10% but now battery is being used at a visibly much faster pace. I'm running the same apps/operations I used to, screen dimmed low, and nothing intensive.
Could an OS use more power than another? Or should I assume this was one disadvantage of a new logic board and parts?
    iBook G3 900 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Your battery only holds a set number of charges. Most batteries can last around 300-400 cycles (your lucky if you get to 400) and half a life span of about three years, even if that max cycle count is not met.
I'd download Coconut battery and see how many cycles are on the battery and what maximum charge is in mAh as well as the current battery capacity vs. the original capacity.

  • Portege series, different battery life on R100 and M100?

    Hello everybody,
I want to buy a new notebook with high battery life for mobile working. The R100 and M100 are shortlisted, but does anybody know if there are differences in battery life. I have tested the two NBs at my dealer, but I have no experience to work with them over a long time.
    Bye Tanya-LB

    Hi Tanya,
I had the honor to test these two notebooks in our company. They are both developed as business model for high mobility and battery life. On the one side you have the R100 with a ULV Centrino with 900Mhz (ULV = Ultra Low Voltage) and a lithium-ion-polymer battery. This combination enables a battery life of 2 hours and with the second additional battery up to 6.4 hours.
On the other side you have the M100 with a LV Centrino with 1200Mhz (LV = Low Voltage) and lithium-ion battery. If you need only one battery the discharging in use is about 4.5 hours and with an additional battery up to very good 8.5 hours.
So in my opinion these notebooks are really well designed and accomplish the specifications of high mobility. The M100 has the higher battery life and performance.
If you have further question, ask me.
You could also see the technical specifications at the Toshiba site

    in the Product menu.
    Hopefully this will help you.

  • Lumia 620 - poor battery life

Lasting less than 6hrs, on continuous usage with whatsapp, email and games.
If battery saver is ON, there is a small increase in battery life.
Is nokia making any solutions for this, such as a bigger battery or lower screen brightness?

I have the same issue. However, this is what I've learned. When I ignore the critical battery warning and just keep using the phone I find that it will last an entire day. It's like the software running the battery life remaining service is not configured properly. When I go into Options, Battery Saver it says the battery life is 0, but will continue to run another 8 hours! Here's hoping it's just a software glitch and an update will come out soon.
I can confirm this. My mother was explaining that her phone was saying that her battery was critically low after a few hours of of being unplugged from the charger and saying a 100% charge. I told her something must be off with a battery memory or something (which is weird because I know these batteries aren't supposed to have memories) and to just keep using the phone until the phone fully died. I had her go into the battery saver and turn it off. Funny thing is it wouldn't die. She used it all day and it was fine. Her phone does this to her every day now. Sometimes after saying the battery it critically low for hours it will switch back and show it has 50-75% of the battery left.

  • Different battery life

We have two iphones 4s , 16 Gb and 32 Gb.
    16gb
    iOS 5.0
    Use 7 h 57 min
    Standby 2 d 21h
    Still 20% Battery
    32gb
    iOS 5.0.1
    Use 6h 10 min
    Standby 16h 54 min
    Still 10% Battery
    Same use
Why is the Battery lifetime so different?

ok, i can confirm its a software issue. the problem was high battery consumption  (-1% every two minutes on max batt and dimmest screen) after updates to power manager driver on an x61 running xp pro sp3. reverting to prior drivers would not solve the issue.
the only solution was restoring the system using acronis and problem solved. my battery consumption is normal now.
i think its a combination of drivers and windows updates that breaks the power manager. ive encountered this problem several times under win2k and xp.
the only solution i found is reverting to a prior install or a clean install

  • Lumia 800 Short Battery Life

    Hello,
I bought my Lumia 800 2 months ago and I've been a happy user until recently. In the past, it could remain in standby mode up to 5 days after a full charge (with WiFi on, no 3G). However, in the past few days, it couldn't even last over a night after a full charge. Within 24 hours, the battery would be drained completely and it would auto shut-down.
I haven't installed any new apps or changed my connection settings, and I think the only change I've done is to update WhatsApp to v2.8.
So, is there a problem with my phone which needs to be repaired? I have always been using the lowest brightness level and I'm a very light user (almost never use it), so it seems abnormal that such a new phone can't even be switched on overnight.
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Hi Billyfoo
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
Have you tried doing a soft reset on the device? By holding down the volume down key and the power button at the same time this will do a reset on your device but will not erase any data. Also do you have any background applications running? You can check this by going into settings and scrolling across to applications and then background tasks.
Also have you checked your Zune application for any updates? Make sure you have the latest firmware.
Furthermore you can also check the below link for a few battery tips:

  • Different battery life on x61 with different power manager software

hi, i recently noticed a bunch of new drivers for my x61 (xp pro sp3) so i installed the power manager 1.52. i immediately noticed the battery usage dropping visibly faster than before (about 1% each 2 min on a 6 cell). i remembered when i had win 2k on this thing and it did the same thing after a bios upgrade.  back then i reverted to the prior bios and the problem persisted. this was one of the reasons i finally went to xp (this was last year).
so this timei tried the prior version of power manager and went back to version 1.48 until my battery usage was normal.
during each driver change i restarted the system upon uninstalling and rebooted upon installation of new power manager software. i also tried different acpi drivers and bios. every other driver change i shut down the machine and pulled the battery out and cycled the battery to make sure. i also tried different usage profiles, including my custom ones and they had no effect on battery consumption - which was alarmingly high: 2:30 at 90% when i usually get more than double of real usage time
nothing i did would give me my normal battery consumption back except rolling back to version 1.48 of the power manager.
has anybody else experienced this? any ideas as to what the problem could be? thanks in advance

  • Lumia 800 poor battery life

Anyone here's battery run out very quickly. I had it charged last night and when I got up in the morning it was down to 35% from just sitting there.
It might have been updating email but that shouldn't kill the battery like that.
I don't use it that much during the day but it seems to go down really fast. I'm currently at 47% and it estimates 1 hour left....

I actually charged it fully again. There were no apps running and WiFi as well as 3G were deactivated.
I took 2 pictures of it, one with Battery Saver ON and the other with it OFF. Without Battery Saver it shows 15h and with Battery Saver it shows 17h. There is clearly something very wrong here...

  • My iphone is currently using battery life much more quickly than inthe past, and it also has an icon tht is starying on the screen, to the left of the battery charge percentage, that looks like a lock with a circle around it

i have an iphone that is using battery life much more quickly than in the past, a full charge is going to zero in a half a day or so, with out much use.
an icon is also appearing next to the charge percentage in the top right, and the icon is a circle around a lock
can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what the icon means?

The Icon meas your display orientation is locked to vertical so it wont change when you turn the phone sideways.
First thing you should check with the battery life is multitasking, which also happens to be where the orientation lock can be turned off.  check out   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4211 and go from there

  • My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software?

My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software? I've only had my mac book since August 2011. The battery dies in 2 to 3 hours with some web surfing (little video play) and photo editing etc. I really don't feel like taking my computer all the way to the apple store to wait there for 5 hours to hear that I need to call someone blah blah blah. Any advice? (BTW Safari hasn't been working since I last updated my mac, WHYYYY?)

  • There is an "x" over my battery icon and even though it's plugged in it's still telling me that there is 0% battery life, what does this mean?

My macbook all of a sudden crashed. When I turned it back on, the fan was running, the battery icon had an "X" over it, and although the power cord is plugged in and the light on it is green, the battery life is still saying that it is 0%. What is wrong with my computer!?

    Hi Jen.
It appears that the battery is perhaps faulty. If you go to  -> About This Mac -> More Info -> Power, could you please tell us the Full Charge Capacity (FCC) in mAh, and the Cycle Count please.
Also, you could try resetting the SMC, to see if that makes a difference.
    Good luck
