Lumia stuck on gears

my lumia 920 , was hanging a lot and everytime i did a soft reset it worked and hanged few mins later, did a hard reset 5 hours ago !! all i get till now r the spining gears ! is this right???

you should be able to interrupt the gears by using the soft reset with vol-/pwr.
just be sure that you continue to hold down the vol- to get the (!) and then see if it will restart correctly.
then you can try to do the reset over.

  • Lumia 620: Reset error, Stuck on gears screen

Yeah. I tried to do the Amber update on my phone, but it restarted during the update and it said I didn't have enough space for the update because it wanted to redownload the files rather than use the ones already there. I couldn't clear any more space because of the Other Storage bug so I tried resetting my phone to factory settings. It has been stuck on the gear screen for an hour now, and I've turned it off and on again several times to no avail. please help, because this is becoming frustrating and annoying very very quickly.

Stuck on running gears for over 8 hours!

  • Factory Reset doesn't work on Spinning Gears lumia 928

    Hello,
Last night i was struck with the Spinning Gears on my Nokia Lumia 928.  I researched it a bit to see what i could do to fix it, sadly it didn't help much. most people said to Factory Reset the phone (Up volume, down volume, power, down volume.)  But it does absolutely nothing at all. I get no ! when i reset the phone. All it does is show the word Nokia then spinning gears. People also said just reset it a few times and it will work, from wen i started counting i reset it over 30 times and let the gears spin for 8 hours. The phone doesn't charge ether but it will stay on if it is plugged in. Im out of ideas on how to fix this phone, and i rather not wait a few days for them to send me a new one IF they even do send me one.
If anyone has any ideas for me peoples let me know. Even if the idea is, you cant do anything bring it to the store thats fine i just wanna know if theres anything i can do.

I am stuck here.  I have had the Lumia 928 for about 2.5-3 months now.  I have decided to go back to Android, but want to give the phone to my son.  I went to do a Factory Reset and have been stuck on Gears for 2 days.  I have let the battery drain, removed the SIM, and did the following from the Nokia Support Site 5-6 times.  No luck, can you help?
    Step 1
Press and hold power and volume down key.
    Phone vibrates (release the keys)
Right after this press and hold the volume down key down
Exclamation mark is shown on the screen (release the volume down key)
Step 2Then input the keys in the following order:
    Volume up
    Volume down
    Power
    Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.

  • Factory reset stuck on cogs

I've waited 20 minutes now after a factory reset. the phone will not stop moving those cogs.
I reset my phone because I have to send it back to phones4u because of a deadpixel.
Any ideas what I am suppose to do?

You can let the battery drain completely and then plug the phone into the charger.
One of our members provided a solution found on the link below so you may try it, too.

If above wouldn't help, sending the phone to a repair facility is what I suggest. You can select the support website of your country here: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/
    Cheers.

  • Spinning gears

I think I downloaded that latest update for the Lumia 822 and now these spinning gears won't go away on my phone. It won't let me start my phone or do anything on it. Also  it is draining my battery and wont let my phone charge either. These spinning gears have been on my phone for almost 12 hours! I have takin the battery out and put it back in and that has done nothing. I also went to the Verizon store and they told me I had to reset my phone but  it was dead. So they were unable to do anything but tell me to charge my phone.
How do I get these spinning gears off my phone??

You'll basically have to do a hard reset; phone is reset to factory default (all data will be lost if not backed up).
Found this on a post from WPCentral, there is a thread dedicated to this problem "Stuck on gears update" if you care to read the rest of the posts.
Turn off phone (if possible).  Hold vol down button and then plug phone into charger, while still holding button down, then let go of button once charger is plugged in.  Phone should come up with a big exclamation mark on the screen.  If your phone was constantly rebooting, like mine was after I installed GDR2, you have to time the plugin just right, just after the phone crashes and before it gets to the boot sequence.  It took me a few dozen tries to time it right, but you have to keep trying until you get a big exclamation mark when you plug in the phone.
Once at the ! screen, press vol up, then vol down, then power, then volume down.  The phone should go into the gears again, but only for a minute.  Then it should come up like it did when you first unboxed it, driving you through all the setup screens.
The phone will work like crap until all of the system stuff gets updated through the store.  Mine crashed going into email and texts, because the GDR2 part of the update was already flashed, but the nokia apps that were restored from the store were pre-Amber.    Once I got through all this drama, which took HOURS (since the store restores every app one at a time, in its own order, and doesn't know the Nokia apps need to be installed first), the phone worked fine since.

there is one other way to fix it, but not allowed here. you can google it, but, since the device is new, you may as well have the nokia location do it. it is just going to cost you some time.

  • Lumia 900 gets stuck on 4G (HSPA+) and won't conne...

In this thread, 4G referrs to HSPA+, LTE referrs to LTE.
Below I'm going to go into detail about the LTE issue with the Lumia 900 on AT&T.  This issue is separate from the no data connectivity issue that has already been addressed with an update.
The problem: The phone will not reconnect to LTE after you leave the LTE coverage area and come back into the LTE coverage area.  Data works fine, but the phone only connects to 4G (HSPA+).  You are now stuck with slower 4G untill you reboot the phone or use the airplane mode trick (explained later).
For example: I live in a 4G coverage area and work in an LTE coverage area.  I go to work and the phone connects to LTE.  I go home and the phone drops to 4G like it should since there is no LTE there.  When I go back to work the next day, the phone will not connect to LTE.  It stays on 4G.  I have attached two pictures demonstrating the issue.  Picture 1 shows the phone with a 4G data connection even though I have 5 signal bars and I'm in an LTE coverage area.  Picture 2 shows the same phone after I reboot the device.  I'm in the exact same location, but I now have LTE after reboot.
When does the problem seem to occur?  The problem occurs if you leave the LTE coverage area and come back after a few hours.  It seems to happen most often after only 2 to 8 hours in the 4G area.
I have been working with AT&T engineering for about a month and they have done multiple traces and can't find anything wrong with the network.  They see the phone connected to the 4G antenna instead of the LTE antenna on the tower.  My moms Lumia 900 has the same problem.  My wife has the HTC Titan II Windows Phone with LTE and it works perfectly.
Based on my own observations, the issue has nothing to do with the amount of data you use either.  During the time you leave the LTE area, the battery may also appear to drain faster than normal.  I believe the problem is the phone keeps looking for that LTE signal but can't find it.  It then gives up and goes into 4G mode to save the battery but never again tries to reconnect to LTE.
How to force create the problem:  I did this 8 miles from the official LTE coverage area.  1) At a high elevation facing the LTE coverage area, I turned on airplane mode while I was NOT in the LTE coverage area.  2) Next I turned off airplane mode.  3) The phone connected to LTE with one signal bar while not in the LTE coverage area.  4) Moments later it dropped to 4G.  5) Then I drove 10 minutes to the LTE coverage area and it did not connect to LTE.  It appears the phone saw the very weak signal and locked itself in 4G mode.
Temporary fix:  To restore the LTE connection, you can reboot the device, or turn airplane mode on and then turn airplane mode off a few seconds later.  This of course turns off all radios and turns them back on.
Please also feel free to see this thread on the AT&T Online Forums.  I'm not the only person with this problem.  AT&T Forums
Does anyone else have this happen or can anyone at Nokia please look into this?

This issue has still not been fixed.  I wish it would be fixed but Nokia hasn't officially responded to the issue.  Constantly having to use the airplane mode to get LTE is frustrating.  Just last week my phone got stuck in HSPA+ 3 times in one day while at my work desk (poor signal in building).
I really wish Nokia would resolve this as they have resolved most other user complaints.  Data connectivity bugs should be a high priority item.
I'm on my 4th Lumia 900, I've tried all the updates, doing a phone reset and working with AT&T engineering to no success.  My mom's Lumia 900 has the same problem.  Twitter support only says AT&T needs to reset my account.  I don't really get that.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't charge, stuck on loading scr...

My Nokia Lumia 800 ran out  of battery while I was at work (not the first time) I take it home and plug it in, after 20 mins of the red battery screen it vibrates and springs to life, but it never got past the white 'Three' welcome screen (one of three screens that flash up when the phone is first turned on, others are Nokia screen and Windows screen).
It's been charging for over 10 hours and it's still stuck on that white screen. The phone feels cold (not stone cold, but not warm either) so clearly it's not charging. I've tried a different charger, different plug, and plugging it in to the computer. When I unplug it, it dies after 20-30 mins and I go through the whole process again the next time I charge it.
When I plugged it into the computer it behaved very strangely. It rapidly connected/diconncted itself, not giving Windows time to recognoise the device was plugged in and install the driver software. Before evneutally diconnecting itself and going back to that white screen.
What's wrong with it? It's not the first time it's totally ran out of battery (although I don't let it happen very often).
The phone is only 4 months old!
    What do I do?
Nokia Care on Twitter was useless, asked me to do soft resets (already tried, many times, the phone turns off briefly, vibrates, then back to that white screen).
If I have to send it in for repiars how do I do that? I live in South West England, my nearest Nokia Care store is in central London, several hours away.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
The white screen it's stuck on looks just like this: http://www.techwatch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Three-Logo-235x276.jpg

You should contact the nokia care point and they will organise the device to be collected.
