Lumia with Gmail messes email when responding to a...

I faced a problem with Gmail with my Lumia 800 phone. I got an email with Scandinavian characters a and o with double dots. I opened the email message I received on my phone and responded, the whole respond message went messy. All a´s and o´s with dots were replaced by funny multicharacter codings. Impossible to read
I did some tests with emai subject field. With a subject field of 65 characters or less the reply was correct and the coding did not change. If I added only one character more to the email subject field my replied message went a mess.
Sound pretty much like a bug!

I think I have a similar problem with Chinese characters. I tried to "Reply to all" to an email that has a Chinese subject title which was sent to a lot of my friends. But my email sent turned out to be a bunch of random codes, something what i attach below. The codes are not completely garbled, it looks more like some decoding problem. I tried both Chinese replies and English replies but i can't get any of them display properly. Can anyone help or at least tell me who I need to contact to try to solve the problem

I'm sorry Allan, I should have clarified, your answer is improbable (well the first part atleast).
The apps I have had since the first week of purchase of my iphone back in 2011, I have not added any apps until 2 months before the last software update. This starting happening when the new software was implemented but I have not updated to iOS6 yet. Unless this person was able to hack into my account & transfer them to their account, I do not see how that is possible.
Prior to seeing this other AppleID, I have a popup to prompt me for my AppleID each time I download content. Each time I would see mine and enter my password.

How do flagged emails in iOS Mail app sync with Gmail Starred emails?

I'm trying to figure out how the "Flagged" mailbox on iOS mail interacts with Gmail's "starred" messages. It seems that messages that I star on Gmail and then archive do not show up in the Flagged mailbox on iOS, and that only starred messages that are still in my inbox show up. Is that correct? DOes anyone know a workaround to get starred and archived messages to show up?

Thanks for your reply, but the Gmail app is not the solution. I have three different accounts, and I want to have just one folder where all my flagged/starred emails are collated. I don't want to be jumping between different accounts.

Mail / Login in with Gmail/ received email ok but when problem sending.

I log into my mail using gmail, and was receiving email ok. I tried to send an email to my other gmail account, but it showed up in the spam ?? What's going on?

I guess you could try but I don't believe Apple can help with activation lock issues. They may, however, be able to determine if the Apple ID belongs to one of you and reset the password for you if you can prove your identity.
You might want to try calling Apple by going to https://expresslane.apple.com; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. Perhaps they can help determine if it's your ID and reset the password for you (and they probably have more expertise in doing this than the Apple store).

Trying to use email app with gmail wrong password when its correct

this happened to me and it took me forever to figure out how to get my gmail to sync into my email app
on your phone all you do is goto your app and enter in your email and password for gmail or whatever.
then when it tries to save and all of that and the picture comes up saying incorrect then you click settings.
CLICK HOME BUTTON. GOTO SAFARI

click create and application-specific password in blue

Your AirPort Extreme supports WPA.
WEP is outdated and considered fairly useless, so use WPA.
Be sure you are using AirPort Utility 5.6. If you are not running Lion then use AirPort Utility 5.5.3.

Mail 4.5 crashing recipients email when responding..mainly Outlook (Help!!)

I have now been told on many occasions that my emails are crashing my recipients emails systems (mainly outlook). When they open and try to respond to anything I send out their mail programs freeze and the shut down. This is becoming a major problem.
The problem has started ever since I updated to Snow Leopard and mail 4.5. I did not have this problem with 3.6 and can trace when it started
I can't ask them to change their mail system (business colleagues and friends).
Could anyone let me know if they experiencing the same thing and if there is anything I can do to resolve this?

As to holding down the Shift while launching Mail--I'm not able to Quit Mail unfortunately. That seems to have recently become an issue as well. However, I tried it nonetheless, even though Mail was "open." Yeh, as I expected....no luck.
As to checking Mail: Online Status--neither account offers Online OR Offline; they are both grey. As are Mail: Get New Mail and Mail: Synchronize. When using connection as shown all Green; when using Connection Doctor both accounts have shown: "Connection to login and server succeeded." Except since I stopped for the night last evening after I posted here. The last one just spins and says "waiting to check..." but doesn't ever seem to get checked.
One added note for my own understanding: Should SSL be ON or OFF? I don't understand that check-box...

Installing Workflow Notification with Gmail as email server...IMAP4

I'm trying to install notification for Workflow and instructions say to use an IMAP4 type of mail server connection, not just IMAP. This is all through the Oracle Application Manager web interface.
We use a special type of Gmail hosting for our company email and I've tried all kinds of combinations of server naming but the Workflow Notification service never succeeds in connecting and then the server never starts up.
Has anyone succeeded in using Gmail for an IMAP4 type incoming email system?
I do have an option to use MS Exchange and may try that if easier...any problems with setting up MS Exchange with Workflow Notification?

What is the error you are getting? Did you try to run "Workflow Java Mailer Setup Test" and see if it reports any errors?

When responding to an email it hangs with Attaching message

I really like Thunderbird, except at various times when I respond to a message there will be a popup that says Attaching. I've waited as long as 20 minutes and it just hangs there. The email I'm responding to can be long or short, that doesn't seem to make a difference. It can be one email or a number in email I'm responding to. There is never an attachment on these emails. I have not found a way to get around this problem. To respond, I have to send a separate email which, of course, loses the chain of correspondence that is needed. Has anyone had this problem and found a way around it? Thanks for your help.

I use Avast for my anti-virus and have for years. It is set to NOT scan outgoing emails. I only have this problem with outgoing emails. The problem does not occur with every outgoing email. It only happens 5 or 6 times per week but it is still very aggravating.

Have you logged on to the webmail account using a browser and enabled either Pop or Imap forwarding for that email address?
Have you created a mail account in Thunderbird that uses the chosen webmail forwarding option?
Password - make sure caps lock is not switched - it must be the same password you use to access the webmail account.

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
exit disk utlity
at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

Did you launch iPhoto with the Option(Alt) and Commnad keys held down like Terence suggested? If you did it properly you will get this window:

Mail crashes when using it with GMail

I have two GMail accounts set-up with mail.app using IMAP. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard mail.app will crash when i'm composing an e-mail.
I can receive GMail messages fine and send them also, but if i'm taking a while writing an e-mail mail.app will crash after a few minutes.
I've re-formatted and installed a new copy of Snow Leopard, but that didn't help.

I second this issue - although I have not yet upgraded to Snow Leopard (I was kinda hoping doing so would solve this problem, darn it). Mail was working fine with my old email account, but when that temporarily went down and I set up a gmail account, it started crashing while composing messages.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?
