Lumina 920 - making calls with the headphone jack

maybe this is the typical nokia phone operation, but it seems like the heaphone jack should work with a microphone headset for making calls. I've tried three different wired sets with no luck.
havig switched from an iPhone, this is a little dissapointing. Unless it's a faulty device?

Hi there,
unfortunately you may have a faulty device. From what i have heard, all mic headsets should be able to work, even if button support is not optimised (i.e. the microphone bit should work, and the other caller hear you). If it doesn't work, then you can try performing a reset of the phone by going into Settings > About > Reset your phone, or a soft reset (by pressing the volume down and power buttons together for five seconds). You won't lose any data, but always pays to perform periodic backups anyway.
Failing that, try performing a hard reset as detailed here: http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/08/how-to-hard-reset-nokia-wps-three-finger-restart/ and if that STILL isn't working, then you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect.

• 9 month old Zen Micro with the headphone jack problem

So, I've been putting up with the headphone jack problem for a few months now, and i've finally decided to get it repaired or fixed. I emailed Creative a few months back and they told me to send it in. My question is, since I am out of warranty, will they repair the unit or send me a whole new one all together?
thanks,
mike

Actually, I just sent in my 7-month old Micro in b/c of the headphone jack problem and they sent me a brand new shrink-wrapped one. They didn't charge me for anything. All I had to do was wait 2 weeks for them to send it back to me (grueling but doable) and pay about 2.44 for shipping the micro to them. So now I'd have three batteries if it weren't for the fact that one of them swelled up; I have NO IDEA how that happened. So yeah I guess the point of the post is that you don't get charged anything even if you're out of the 90-day labor warranty.

• My ipod touch is having problems with the headphone jack when I rotate a little song stops

my ipod touch is having problems with the headphone jack when I rotate a little song stops

Hey Silverdemon, sounds like a short, most likely in the headphones. Try a different set of headphones with this iPod or try the headphones with a different device. If the problem stops with your iPod or it moves to another device, then replace the headphones. If within 1 year of date of purchase Apple will replace the headphones for free if problem is a defect, not abuse. If the problem continues with a different set of headphones, check the port for damage and foreign debris. If you note debris, attempt to remove it, if damage noted contact Apple and set up an appointment to have it evaluated. if nothing appears wrong, try plugging / unplugging to jack about 12 times maybe corrosion on the contacts if so that should clean it. Next thing to try reset your iPod. After that try restore from backup. Last resort, restore to new. Just make sure you make a full backup to your computer before you restore so no data is lost. If nothing works, contact Apple and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

• Problem with the headphone jack

I was watching a movie with the headphones in, I put the computer to sleep, pulled the headphones out and put it away. Later that day I went to use it and noticed that the jack for the headphones was lit up red. Sound will NOT work without headphones in now.
Please help!

Hi Matteo,
I take it you've checked the Audio output tab of your sound panel in Sys.Pref.
Also maybe check the audio Midi Setup Utility in your Utilities folder.
Am unsure of the red light thing - maybe someone else can help.

• Problem with the headphone jack part 2

Ok. Now I have been to the "sound tab" and tried to select the output audio and change it. But it will not bring up any type of change. It does not offer anything but Digital out. It says it is built in audio. I need help.

i contacted them for service on Friday from the service website but when they say that i should get a package within 2 business days to send it back for replacement but when they say 2 business days do they mean Monday to Friday no weekends or holidays like most businesses? (just curious)

• Is something wrong with my headphone jack?

Okay, I was using the stock headphones fine but then the sound only came to the left headphone unless I twisted the headphones around a lot. Same thing happened in my car, I had to move around the cable a lot to get sound to both of my speakers. At first I thought this was just a coincidence and everything I bought was crap. I got a new set of headphones last night thinking it would solve my problem (at least for the headphones) but nothing has changed. Sound only goes to the left ear unless I twist around the headphone cable and connecter-thing.
Is something wrong with my iPod? I would send it back but I got it free from RadioShack with no receipt so I can't actually prove that I bought it...any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like there is definitely something wrong with the headphone jack on your iPod. From your tale, it sounds like the head phone jack may be bent inside resulting in a poor connection when you plug your head phones in. The only thing I can suggest with this problem is to see Apple about it.
But before you jump to this conclusion, maybe there is some dust in your headphone port on the iPod resulting in a poor connection, to see if this is the problem, take a small piece of paper towel and roll it up really small and gently swab the inside of the headphone jack with it removing any foreign material that could be inside. Hope this works.

• How do I disable the headphone jack remote controls on my iMac?

HI all,
I've got an early 2009 iMac 24". I use it with an older pair of Logitech 2.1 speakers with no inline remote controls. The headphone jack itself or the 1/8" male connection is loose because the iMac will randomly launch/play/pause iTunes. I'm 100% certain this has to do with the headphone jack connection. I want to disable that remote functionality in OSX while still using my speakers, but I haven't found any documentation or information on how to do it.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

You need to get the busted plug out of the headphone jack. Because there is a micro switch in-side the headphone jack that tells the MIDI setup to only send the sound out to the headphone jack.
Go to > Removing a broken headphone plug - Google Search or take it to your local AASP for service.

• The headphone jack on my iPod dosn't work. is there anything I can do to fix it?

I explained to my friend that I've bought allot of headphones for my iPod and the left one on EVERY set of the earbuds dosn't work, but the right one ALWAYS works perfectly fine, and they told me that theres something wrong with the headphone jack and I was wondering if there's anything I can do without taking it somewhere to be charges a trillion dollars.

Google iPod repair and use a third-party repair service. It will be cheaper than Apple. I would estimate $50.00.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Have you gone into system prefs nad made sure that the headphone port is set to audio out. And not audio in.
Also make sure that you are selecting built in speakers for your audio output.
If that does not fix it try doing a Pram reset.
Shut your mac down.
Press the startup button.
Hold down the following keys. Command Option P and R. Wait till you hear the chime 2 times. Then let go. See if that fixes it.

• Greetings Community: I have a problem with my headphone jack: no sound. The problem is not with the headphones... the jack just does not transmit any sound... any ideas how to fix this? It seems to be a rather strange problem. Thanks for your help.

Any ideas on how to fix a problem with a headphone jack on my
desktop power Mac (mid 2007). I don't have a clue on this one.

Hi Paul,
...on my desktop power Mac (mid 2007)
Are you sure you don't have a Mac Pro? The last of the PowerMac desktops were discontinued in August 2006.
What does "About this Mac" (in the Apple menu) say about the processor type?

• Does The Headphone Jack on the mac book air also work with microphone

(MacBook Air) Does The headphone Jack work as a microphone jack like the MacBook Pro does

The current MacBook Air uses a TRRS 3.5 mm mini jack, just like the iPhone. As long as the intended device (headphone/microphone) is compatible with this jack standard, you are fine.
TRRS (tip, ring, ring, sleeve)
You can also buy adapters that will "split" the connections into separate Mic and speaker channels, for use with recording equipment using other jacks. Say, for instance you have a microphone that uses a 1/4" jack.

• What does the red dot in the headphone jack have to do with my phone not holding a charge, my phone has never been wet.

My phone has never gotten wet. My phone doesnt hold a charge for more than about 3 hrs., so I brought it in to Verizon about the battery. The lady looks into the headphone jack and says it has a red dot its not under warranty any more. What does the headphone jack have to do with my battery.

The "red dot" is a moisture sensor. If it is red, then your phone did get wet, or was exposed to excessive moisture, which voids the warranty. Liquid/moisture inside the phone can compromise or short out the electronics, causing excessive battery drain.
