LUMIX TZ7 movies import unsuccessful: is this normal in FCE4.0.1?

I tried to make a search of my problem but not fully successfully.
As said in the title , I have a lumix TZ7 that can record AVCHD movies: in spite of this, if I try to import them in FCE4.0.1, with the log and transfer function, they are readable but no import occurs (after dragging the media file into the queue window): the transfer does not start at all, and after a few seconds, a red claiming point is shown on the line of the being imported file, without additional information and without file transfer onto the scratch disk.
I tried to change, in the easy setup window, the codec (from 1080i50 to 720p30 etc...) but unsuccessfully. These movies are imported without problems under iMovie 9: is it normal that I am not able to import them with FCE4.0.1?
Thank you for your help

it is and as iMovie demonstrates, it is technically possible..
that lite-format, although no 'official' AVCHD format, gets more and more popular on still-cams, plus the evolution of iM, away from 'serious' movie-making = FC/e has to fill a gap, should result in some update of FC/e for that format.

Probably because photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days, even though they remain on your devices (up to 1000 photos) until you delete them.  These photos are probably the ones added in the last 30 days.  To view the others, you can either create a shared photo stream with the others and invite yourself, or you can open them on your device and use AirPlay to stream them to your Apple TV.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • HT1657 i rented a move from iTunes...i was on a plane and tried to watch it, but got a message that there was a problem in accessing the iTunes store.  i had a wifi connection, but had to buy internet access to watch the movie.  is this normal?

i rented a movie from itunes.  i was on a plane when i tried to access it...but got an error message saying "cannot access itunes store".  i had a wifi connection but had to purchase internet to watch the movie on the plane.  never had this problem with my ipad and never have it when i download tv shows.  what's the deal with movies?

It's not normal, presuming that the movie downloaded completely, but it has come up from time to time. I've not been able to figure out from the various posts why rentals work for most but in some cases insist on a connection to the iTunes store. Go here:
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
to report the issue to the iTunes Store. Perhaps they can provide an explanation, though you may just get canned and rather inapplicable replies about how to rent or download.

I have converted m2ts files to .mov in streamclip,  for editing in fce 4.0.1. When I drag them into the fce timeline the clips need rendering, as much as a minute for a 30 second clip. Is this normal? My OS is 10.6.8. My easy setup in fce is apple intermediate codec 720p30. Any advice to avoid the rendereng would be helpful. Ann

To what codec, frame size & frame rate did you convert the files in Streamclip?
If it isn't AIC 720p30, you'll need to render.

Yeah you shouldn't use ~ in general. That is a shortcut for "Your home directory."
This is not strictly true. ~ is a "meta-character" in Unix shells -- it is an instruction to the shell to substitute the path to a home directory. It only has meaning in a Unix shell command, and only if ~ is the first character in a file path name. Outside of a Unix shell ~ has no special significance (although other programs might adopt a similar convention).
I don't see any reason why Aperture would be doing tilde expansion, and if it is, it is doing it wrong. "March~May Asia Trip" is a perfectly legitimate name in both Mac OS and in Unix. There is nothing taboo about using ~ in a file name. This behavior (which I can confirm) is almost certainly an Aperture bug.

  • Is this normal for Lightroom when importing PSE 6 catalog?

I am trialing LR 2.3.  I executed the "Upgrade Photshop 6 Elements ..." to bring the PSE 6 catalog into LR.  I was looking in the folder with all my pictures and noticed the the timestamp for ALL .JPG and ALL .XMP were changed to about the time I imported the PSE 6 catalog.  Also, I noticed that .XMP files were created for ALL raw files even where there were none before.
Is this normal?  I wouldn't have expected LR to touch any of the files unless I made some change to them.  How could this have happened?
    Ray

The files for the images themselves wouldn't be changed except for the date of the file 'creation'. The xmp files will reflect the time of the images being into LR, nothing else, unless you used an Import preset.
I think you'll find all the info intact inside of LR. Only change should be the dates as shown in Finder.

  • It takes over an hour for the rental movies from itunes to download. is this normal?

it takes over an hour to download. is this normal?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That all depends on your internet service. 6 Mbps or better is recommended for HD rental content. 2.5 Mbps for SD. You can check your actual internet speed at speedtest.net.
If you'd rather download SD content to avoid waits, you can change the type of content available by default in settings.

  • IMovie 8.0.4 and Lumix TZ7

    Hi,
i've an iMac 24" (dec 2008) with iLife '08 upgraded to ilife '09.
one week ago, i've succefully imported Video from my TZ7 (don't remember imovie version), but now it is impossible (i'm pretty sure to have made update from 8.0.3 to 8.0.4 during that period):
no import windows appear and if i try to mannually import videos (MTS Files) from the menu :
    File/Import/Movies... (i guest, but Fichier/Import/Films... in french)
i can't do anything because MTS are diabled so i can't select them...
So i try to setup imovie on my girl friend's mac (who never used iMovie, so i can be sure it's not a old/bad configuration problem on her mac...) and it is exactely the same...
finally i tried to remove completly iMovie and to reinstall it from DVD and then try : the same in 8.0.0
and then manually download 8.0.3 update and install => the same
    Please help,
i can't use/views my view any more and reaaly don't know what more to do/test..
    Thank you in advance !

Hi EZ Jim, I have the exact same problem too, and of course my camera is in the USBMODE. I have been using it successfully on my old Macbook Pro with Leopard, but i bought a new MBP that has Snow Leopard and it doesnt seem to work anymore. I havent made any changes to the camera settings, and the only difference is that i run Snow Leopard (10.6.1) compared to Leopard (10.5.8.) Could that be the source of the problem?

    Welcome to Discussions, Peter! (digestor)
Could that be the source of the problem?
I suppose it could. If your Lumix TZ7 still works with your other MBP, and if doing the same things do NOT work on your new SL MBP, either Snow Leopard, the installation on this particular new Mac, or some other problem such as connections or cables must be the cause of your problem.
Because your MBP is new, I suggest you take it back to your retailer ASAP and ask him to show you how to make it work. Be sure to take your Lumix TZ7, too. If it were me, I would also take along the older 10.5.x MBP and prove to him that the problem is NOT with the camera or operating technique.
Please share what you find. You may find a solution to pitch78's problem, too.
    Cheers,

  • Rendering takes forever. Is this normal?

    Hello guys,
I am wondering whether this is normal or not. I have a QuickTime .mov file. It is only 10 minutes
HDV 60i. I need to convert it to H.264 progressive (to make it watchable on a computer monitor)
So I have imported it into Compressor and choose H.264 settings. All I have changed there was Frame Controls Output Fields to Progressive and reduced the size to 768x432. That's all.
Rendering is now at it's 11th hour, still saying that render time is unknown and showing 0% rendered (no blue percentage fill).
So I am wondering is this normal? It is only 10 minutes, simple video clip.

Activating frame controls with H.264 is not always a good idea, especially not when dealing with interlaced HDV. I would recommend going through ProRes with frame controls, before compressing to H.264.
Have a look here for more info: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7309534#7309534
I see you have chosen a frame size where both width and height is divisible by 16. Good choice!

  • Why is it taking so long to download. Is this normal?

Why is it taking so long to download. Is this normal?

    How long is "so long"?
Some product downloads are up to 1.6GB; that can take some time - very much depending on your Internet connection.  Check http://www.download-time.com/
For a test, I just downloaded Illustrator CC 2014 (1.6 GB), and the download completed within 13 minutes (and I am 10,000 km away from the Adobe download servers).
Try downloading from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-2014-direct-download-links.html - make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page.

iPad can't get past step 8 when syncing. I have to unplug before the end. Is this normal? What do I do to solve the issue? Thanks. JD

It is syncing through everything and then failing to close out. If I disconnect then the libraries are all there although I have lost a movie and a few tracks downloaded as a result of this.

    Hi
Time needed can depend on several things.
    • less than 5 GB free space on Start-up (Mac OS) hard disk = Redicolous long times AND a DVD that most probably will not work OK
Medicine - I never go under 25GB free space
    • Use of strange file formats into iDVD - can force it to de-code first then re-encode - this can take long long times
    I use
Video - StreamingDV as from miniDV tape Cameras - or QuickTime Movies Converted to StreamingDV
    Audio - .aiff 16-bit 48 kHz - (no .mp3, .wma etc)
    • Use of old Mac - My G4 600MHz took about 24 hour per hour movie. my dG5 - about 2 hours per hour (I use Pro Quality encoding)
    • Pro Quality encoding - takes about x2 to process a movie

Thankyou for the reply, the pop up window is labelled backing up ,I can see the progress line its really passed 3 hours still as mentioned about 10 15% progress .Please all i want to know is it worth continuing or its a waste of time. Its worth mentioning that since i've got the phone 2 years ago I've never updated it and the sole reason I'm doing it now is since 2 days ago i can't get my emails on my phone but i do get them on my PC.
Went to an Apple store an advisor told me to update it as it might solve the problem.Although i did delete my account internet account then register it again , also turned the phone on , off.Unfortunately still can't get my emails on the move .

  • Ready to play in 14 minutes. Is this normal?

Im concerned about my dcownload speed.  For example, to download a 45 minute hd show, my Atv says ready to play in 14 minutes. Than the estimated time drops throughout the download and ends up taking 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Is this normal?  My download speed is between 4 and 5 mbs. I've already tried directly connecting to my router.   Thanks you.

Thanks for answering!  Why, then, am I able to start watching an hd show within a minute into the download on my Mac?  It is an iMac intel core duo 2.0 with 2 gigs of memory. I'm thinking because it has better hardware than the apple tv?
If that's the case it sounds as though AppleTV2 should be able to do the same.
If we knew the size of a particular stream/download we could do a rough calculation of how long it should take for a given steady internet speed.
I can't rent TV Shows in iTunes or on AppleTV2 in UK, so can't really give you a guide except for movie performance.
With the same internet connection I'd expect the 2 to behave similarly (presumably computer or other user was not using internet bandwidth when you were using AppleTV directly?).
Apple's servers sometimes get bogged down, and some ISPs speeds really to vary significantly despite your headline connection speed - also worth checking your ISP doesn't slow/throttle your connection speeds at certain times or after a certain amount of content has downloaded.
