Lunar Calendar on N97 mini

Hi,
I find Nokia phone is quite nice. But was unhappy with the lunar calendar. From my understanding, we are not able to view the calendar under the language of "English" and "Automatic".
I think Nokia is able to do better than this. Please advice. Thanks.

  • Synchronize n97 mini calendar with exchange

    Hi
At this moment I have been searching for a couple of hours but I could not find a solution for my problem.
I have installed the nokia exchange plugin (2.09.206) from the nokia ovi store on my phone. After that is setup my username, password servers and all the requested other values. So far so good. Since the installation I am able to receive my email and my calendar from the exchange server on my n97 mini. The problem is that after synchronizing an appointment (which is made in outlook) is will appear in my nokia calendar. This work without a problem. But when I add an appointment on my nokia it will appear in my outlook as a meeting. During synchronizing the value changes form appointment to meeting. What is the cause of this problem. And how can I change is?
I got the latest software for my nokia (According to the ovi software)
My outlook is in English, my nokia is in Dutch. I tested it also with my nokia in English language but is gave the same problem. I hope someone knows the solution for this problem!
    Thanks for your response!

Am I the only one with this problem? When someone knows the solution please answer. Thank you!

  • Download files from mac to N97 mini/WLAN

I can access the net through WLAN from my N97 mini, and download from anywhere except for my own Mac (snow leopard).
My wireless router can see the phone, and gives it an IP address, but I get nowhere when I key the address in on my mac.
ISync works OK for calendar and contacts.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I'm not that techy. but don't think N97 has share on home network (like N95 had) so I use either bluetooth or usb to transfer files (usb much faster) but I also use pc not mac. Hope someone with more technical knowledge can help'

Nokia do have too many handsets and I disagree with Sapporobaby as they actually use three or four mobile OS's which have to be developed for numerous differently configured devices. This causes all of the problems with the firmware upon release of a new device and just when Nokia have most of the bugs ironed out they move onto the next device only to have to start all over again. Apple only have one mobile OS supporting the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and a few legacy devices so when they roll out a new model their developers can focus on resolving issues in just one device. Don't get me wrong, I know iPhones are not perfect but Nokia could learn a lot from the way Apple develops software and services and good quality hardware will only get you so far in this market. Even in this area Nokia have been dropping the ball lately with poorly designed/manufactured devices like the N97 (lack of RAM, lack of c: drive, self-harming camera lens, poor GPS antennae, etc...)
So matt please don't chastise Nokia users with a Mac just because you got chastised by some apple fanboys.

    Hey froschy,
Long time mate. Hope things are going better with the N97 than before. I think I did not explain my position well, but actually I agree with everything you wrote. What I was trying to say is that while Nokia has multiple operating systems, they release hundreds of phones that share the same OS, i.e. E71, E90 or N85 and N86 and so on. Nokia can easily create a generic plugin across the board for these OS's with little or no effort but they have not done so. The fact that the N97 was (and still is a disaster in my opinion) should be proof positive to the Mac community that they are wasting their time on Nokia products. Or, they should realize that Nokia does not really care much for them and they should adjust accordingly. As I stated, I posted that the Mac community should forgo the N97 Mini until it is proven that there is support for this phone. Surely the N97 fiasco is a waking call that Nokia does not care about Mac, or at least not much. Any Mac user that purchases a Nokia phone without checking for support first has only him or herself to blame and should not come here complaining. There is a proven track record of incompetence on Nokia's part to look back on.

  • N97 Mini Start Up Problem

Apparently after rebooting my phone, my N97 Mini does not start up, instead, it shows a white screen with the word "NOKIA" and it's stuck there forever.
Googled the issues and I am not the only one who faces this problem, but the thing is, people cannot seem to find any solutions to this, I was hoping to get assistance over here. True enough I can bring my cellphone to the nearest Nokia Care Center, but how many times do I have to face this? And I'm lucky to have a spare phone with me, otherwise, travelling is going to be a problem for me because my phone is my essential.
Anybody has any solution to this?

I've encountered "stucked forever with white screen Nokia logo" problem for more than 5 times since I bought Nokia Mini for one month. It's really frustrating in the beginning. I know this will randomly happen. Well, it just happened again 2 days ago.
Here is my quick fix to undermine the impact.
    1. Bought a 8GB SDHC card for mini.
    2. Put all my favourite softwares' SIGNED sources (*.sisx) in SD card (F: drive in File manger).
    3. Randomly backup Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar in SD card.
I don't backup "Files" since I don't know what kind of files it backups and sometimes those files are large.
4.1 If the mini DEAD again(freezes at NOKIA booting logo), then Hard-Reset the N97 mini.
4 2 Go to backup Fucntion to restore your previous backups. (i.e. Setting, Message, Contacts, Calendar)
4.3 Go to File Manager and install your favourite softwares again from the SD card.
To install softwares directly from SD card is much faster and easier then from PC/Laptop.
Especially, when mini dead on the go or during the trip, you won't be worried about NO PC besides you.
ps. I don't put softwares and backups in Mass Memory because I may format it when needed.
Although "Crash" thing is still bothering sometimes, the quick fix makes me feel better(safe !?) and I still love using Mini.
     Cheers,

  • N97 Mini - Phone Data Lost when Lock Code is chang...

    Hi,
I have changed the 'Lock Code' of my N97 mini under Settings>Phone>Phone Management> Security Settings> Phone and SIM Card> Lock Code. And to my surprise, after I changed the Lock Code, I found that all my contacts, messages and notes are lost. But Photos/Videos/Recorded files are available. I have tried all the ways but could not see the contacts/messages/notes/calendar entries. Unfortunately I donot have a back up of the data. Is there a way to restore the contacts/messages/notes on the phone?

That won't work... reason being is you need the following requirements for the iPhone 4.
    Mac system requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
iTunes 10.1 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
    Windows system requirements
    PC with USB 2.0 port
Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later

  • Nokia N97 Mini Outlook meeting problems

    Hello,
On my old HTC windowsphone  when i got invite to a meeting in outlook i could see on my phone what ppl are also invited / are joining the meeting. For some reason i cant find this on my new N97 Mini. Is this not supported by this phone or is there a way to enable it?
    Regrads,
    Florian

AFAIK the calendar on the mini is exactly the same as on other Symbian devices, so that means there is no field for invited people in it. I am not aware of any alternative calendar apps that have what you need.
The inherent difference from your old phone is that WIndowsMobile phones have Mobile Office which includes a Mobile version of Outlook, which contains a lot of the exact same functionalities as the PC version of Outlook. Only WindowsMobile phones have this kind of exact emulation of PC applications. Sad to say though that Windows Mobile Office is yet to be released for Nokia phones. There has been an agreement between Nokia and Microsoft more than a year ago but it still hasnt come into fruitition.
If the feature is extremely important to you, you might want to consider swapping your phone (if your retailer would allow it) to a Samsung B7610 or a Sony Xperia 2 as both runs Windows Mobile and would have Outlook Mobile as well.
Otherwise, I have no knowledge of any possibility of activating the feature in question.

The N97 is an old phone now, I'm guessing you've never formatted it?
After lots of use, installing apps-uninstalling apps, browsing internet etc your phone gets clogged up.
If you don't want to fully wipe your phone try clearing old text messages, internet cache, call logs and see if that helps.
I would however recommend a format to "Spring Clean" your phone. Backup all your data using Nokia Suite and pictures, video's etc stored on the internal memory and then type *#7370# code 12345.
This will wipe all data from the C: drive, contacts, messages, calendar entries etc. next restore your backup and re-install any missing apps.
Hopefully you should see a massive difference in the speed of your phone after doing this and should also be able to install the app.
If I have helped you, please hit the star at the bottom of my posts - it's appreciated!

  • N97 mini phone memory

    Hello,
I have a N97 mini which i like but it started coming up with memory error messages and saying i needed to close applications, also the max amount of text i could have on my phone was 85. i have unistalled most of the pre-installed Apps which has free'd up some memory space on my phone. the memory messages have stopped now but i was wondering if there are any other files i can delete to free up even more space on the phone.
I currently have 223MB free on my phone. is this a good amount ? or can more be found ?
    thanks

One problem that I had after phone crashes on the N97 mini was that some of my settings changed causing data to get stored on device memory instead of mass memory.  The two biggest culprits were messaging and podcasting.
Check your settings for both of these programs to make sure that they are not saving to device memory.
You can also go to settings/phone/application settings and check all of your applications to see what memory they are using.
If, like me, you are syncing with an exchange server and have hundreds of contacts, hundreds of calendar entries and thousands of e-mails, it won't take long for your device memory to get maxed out.  That will cause problems running basic tasks.

  • N97 Mini Restarts often for no reason

Hi, I had bought a N97 Mini and soon found it crashing while using different apps or while typing a message. There is no definite patterns for these crashes though. I then got replaced the phone with another piece and surprisingly found the same issue with the new device.
I am now in FIX. What do i do?? i tried calling up the customer care and they updated that there is new firmware for the same nor is this a know issue with thN97 mini.
Can anyone please help on this??? I am anyhow going to get this replaced by a new piece of N97 mini but not sure if its a hardware or a software issue.
Thanks in advance for your support.

It's always advisable to do a hard reset when doing a software update and to only backup your contacts, calendar and notes. A full backup and restore could re-install conflict between the new software and the old. It's a bit of a pain, but should provide a much better result !
Dial *#7370# followed by 12345, the phone will shutdown and revert to 'out of the box' condition, then install/re-install the latest software, and set up your phone manually and install whatever apps you want (on E mass memory where ever possible) and you shpuld find the phone will run much better !
    Good Luck

  • Irritating issues with N97 Mini

Why is my new N97 mini searching  WLAN-networks all the time?
I have disbled all WLAN searching possibilities, and still it is doing that.
It is wery irritating. I already have latest software version.
The other odd behaviour is that the device is occassionally playing NOKIA TUNE as a rintone,
even if it is not set as a ringtone. Is Nokia doing that on purpose? You can not delete NOKIA TUNE, and it is irritating too.
If someone knows the solution, please...

I'm probably in the minority here, but I have had my N97 mini now for 3 full months and it has yet to freeze.  Sure there have been some abrupt application shut-downs (the std browser in v10.20 was notorious for that), but the latest v11 f/w has reduced that considerably.  I've never had a reason to remove the battery to flush memory, although I've done it maybe 2 or 3 times.
I read news on it daily, use GPS often(Ovi Maps, Google Maps, Sports Tracker), sync to ms-exchange for calendar, tasks and email, watch videos, listen to music (local and net), read books, check weather, stocks etc., etc. and the phone works well.  I rarely run more than 1 application at a time and do not keep apps open in the background, so memory is always available.
Overall, I really like the phone (oh yeah, it does voice calls too).  Keyboard works well, is well built, battery is decent, and it is small and light.  I am hoping for new functionality (like the second home screen for more shortcuts/widgets), a way to turn off those annoying "are you sure" messages (I'm a big boy, I know that when a connection is made it might cost me money), and HTML Nokia Messaging app. (version 3.0 is coming, but when?).
Anyway, just sharing my perspective.  I've been working with computers and electronics since the early 80's and these modern smartphones are incredible for their size, runtime, and what they can do.  The N97/N97 mini is no exception.

  • Hard reseted the N97 mini NOW WHAT????

I got the white screen and blue Nokia label on my recently bought N97 mini.  The advice was to hard reset it.  O.K I did it now it randomly works.
    My questions:
Is this a hardware issue?  If not how can it be solved?
The phone came with various applications from factory, now how can I restore them, not the ones I installed but the ones the phone had before the hard resetS.   where are they?

Most should be available at Ovi Store or elsewhere on the web, things like games and video samples you may not be able to get back. I would suggest you install any apps you can on E not C.Also before setting everything up I would update/re-install the latest software with Nokia Software Updater.
As for 'randomly working' what do you mean ? And how did you reset the phone ?
Whenever I reset my phone (which, unfortunately is quite often with the N97) I first back up my contacts, calendar and notes, NOTHING ELSE, backing up settings etc can result in re-installing a 'problem'. I then dial *#7370# followed by 12345. After the phone re-boots I set up the phone settings, motion sensors, auto lock, message storage point (E not C) ringtones etc. Then I re-install my contacts and calendar, and then any applications or themes I want (everything possible on E) and the phone will be like 'new'

  • N97 mini sync with outlook

I am considering the N97 mini. Can it sync with email messages & calender with Outlook 2003? I have looked everywhere & not definately found whether it can or not. I'm after similar sync as I can do with Windows Mobile platform.
    Thanks

You need to use the Nokia Ovi  Suite -application. Connect the N97mini in the PC suite -mode to it. From the sync pages select what and how you want to sync.
Please note that this applies only when you have connected your N97mini to your PC.
If you want to sync while unconnected then that's another story which I can't talk too much about.
I have adjusted the priorities so that my phone is always on top. Mind you, I don't need to sync with other people. My needs are thus different from those who use this for business purposes on a shared calendar.

  • N97 mini - reset

When I do *#7780# on my Nokia Flagship N97 mini it report to close all exiting connection first.
How do I close all connections on the N97 Mini in order to do a *#7780# reset?

Hold the left shift key, the spacebar and the back key then the power key, *hold them until the device asks for the country etc.
    N97 Diagram
If your device fails to boot up or gives a contact the retailer message then a hard format on boot will usualy sort the problem.
WARNING doing a hard reset will DELETE all user data on the device memory, including contacs, calendar entries and any apps etc you have installed to C: drive, your mass memory/memory card will remain unafected so any data will still be there, however you may have to reinstall some apps even if they are installed to mass mem/mem card.
You need to hold the buttons untill you are asked to set your country, date etc, then release, try it again, if it fails you may need to visit a Nokia Care Point !
