A newbie to Apple. Got my first iMac this spring. Costly compared to PC but I thought it worth it. My logic board failed within two months. Now my mouse within five.
Anyone have any ideas why? It doesn't work period. There's no under-the-mouse red light anymore. It's the white mouse. Not wireless so it never fell on the floor.
Previous symptoms. The roller ball wouldn't go 'up' today and there may have been troubles when trying to use it with my disk utilities.
Frustrated. No more downtime waiting for a darned mouse.
Word to those away from city centers, think twice before buying an Apple. Everything takes time to get fixed, get shipped. Hard when you make your living from your computer. Stupid really.

You don't have to use an Apple mouse. Any USB mouse or trackball will work.
If the Apple mouse scroll-ball doesn't work in all directions, it just needs cleaning.

If the red-light is out, though, it needs replacing. It is still under warrantee Call AppleCare. They should send you new one, along with a pre-paid label to send back the bad one.
You can use OSX with no mouse by turning on Mouse Keys. Press the Option key five times to turn it on or off.
With Mouse Keys turned on, press the 5 key on your numeric keypad to click an item on the screen. Press the 0 key to press and hold. To release the press and hold, press 5 again. The other keypad numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9) move the cursor in different directions. You can make adjustments in the "Mouse" tab of "Universal Access" system preference.

    Hi All,
    I recently chatted with MCP support to inform them of poor shoddy service by their provider of Wallet Cards.  Has anyone else had any problems with quality/service with the below provider?  If so who can I contact to report the problems I had with
    them?
    Below is a copy of the statement I provided to MCP support:
    I ordered a wallet card quite awhile back.  Upon delivery I discovered that it was very poor quality and some of the lettering "Solutions Associate" was very faint. 
    I contacted arvato digital services LLC to report it.  They requested that I send them a scanned copy of the wallet card. 
    They then agreed to replace it.  I was told that it would ship 12/17/2013 and after a month or so of not receiving it I contacted them again and Daniel apologized and said it had gotten lost in production. 
    I was then promised a ship date in January.  I had to contact them again and I finally received it today 2/7/2014. 
    The papers that came with it said my credit card would be charged. 
    To summarize:  I was shipped a poor quality card which took them over 2 months to replace, 
    no improvement on the card still looks like the first one they sent me and finally they said my card would be charged .... AGAIN? 
    I want Microsoft to know what very poor service arvato digital services LLC is providing to their Members and how I can get a quality card replacement without any additional charge. 
    I offered to  send the second poor quality card received and also the back and forth emails requesting that they resolve the problem. 
    By the email time stamps they will see the very long length of time it has taken to resolve this issue and the fact that it is still not resolved.

    Same here. I just received them today (21/02/2014). Very very disappointed.
    I ordered the Solutions Expert & Specialist Card. Both are terrible beyond all recognition.
    Both photos in the cards are blurry, unlike the ones I previewed in the design page. Just like you said, the lettering ('Solutions Expert' & 'Specialist') on BOTH cards are very faint.
    I even ordered the 'Specialist' card in German just for curiousity's sake.
    On the bottom at the back of the card where you find the "Download the Tag reader app at: http://gettag.mobi" sentence, I found this incomplete (and perhaps just to show their level of incompetence) sentence:

    First, you discontinued the MCM/MCSM program and the whole works last year. I know this is a very different thing and has a very big difference (and revenue). Now you showed the (lack of) care even for the tiniest bit of a Microsoft Wallet Card.
    I see no use of contacting Arvato, just another time-wasting effort, third party subcontractor and all that.

  • What has happened with Quality with an Acer Product?

    My son purchased an Acer Aspire E1 in the Spring of 2014, the Hard Drive failed within 8 months. No problem, the warranty took care of it. I now have had the Hard Drive replaced again within the 7 months of the factory replaced one. Acer's tech support lured me in to purchasing their Recovery Thumb Drive, saying it would solve the problem. To find out that when trying to boot up, a message displays L:/MAPP is missing. Took it to a Reputable Computer Repair Center, they replaced the Hard Drive. When you try to contact Acer about their product failing, then having it Factory replaced, only to fail again, you get some 3rd party,from a foreign land, who also wants money to talk to you. I want someone from ACER to refund some or all the cost of replacing their Hard Drive, which should of came with a warranty,since they replaced it, and the refund of the Recovery Thumb Drive, that wasn't needed to fix Acers problematic Hard Drive. My son uses the Acer's laptop for every day normal use. No gaming downloads, no 100,000 picture down loads, just to be used for collegic activities. I have a Dell Inspiron that has lasted me 4 years and counting. Well Acer, are you going to help a DAD out of possible Acer production quality failure?? 

    Use their Recovery thumbdrive they gave you and format it. Then save your son's data on it. Unplug the thumbdrive and carry the laptop out to the garbage and drop it in the can. Go out and buy a new laptop from a company that actually provides support.

    I was wondering if there is a place that I could find out how to use the printing functionality of the Java API other than the tutorials here on sun. We've got some printable objects in our program, but when we try to take the screenshots and print them out, the quality is very shoddy. What I want to be able to do is to get almost exactly what the image on the screen is and be able to print it with as good of quality as is on the computer screen. Are there any good tutorials out there, (or example good or bits of advice) that might help me do this? Thank you very much, and happy new year!

    While that is quite useful, the problem is that I need to resize the component I'm trying to fit, and in some cases edit the image before printing, so that the image gets somewhat distorted. Right now we've just been using getImageableX() and getImageableWidth() and those methods to draw the component onto the thing we are going to print. Is there a better way to deal with resizing?

  • Adobe shoddy Customer Support

    Sorry for ranting in a unrelated form. But, if you have experienced the shoddy quality of the customer support provided by Adobe, you would sympathize with me. They sent me the wrong license key and it has been a pain working with them. The waiting time to speak to a so called "customer support representative" is typically 20-30 mins. The customer support representatives are not knowledgable at all and keep transferring your calls till you get frunstrated and hangup. So, now my license does not work and no one in Adobe knows why and they hardly seem to care.
    From the discussions that I have had with the community Even though their products are amazing, such bad customer relation management is giving them a awful reputation.

    I am  unable to get through to the adobe help line,its not working ! though I did  receive a reply from adobe via an email I sent via this website - I was really excited thought they might of solved my problem, I was told to put in my serial number again and it would be ok, my software would be re-activated - but it is not activated and I cannot de-activate the software on my old computer because the motherboard completley failed - Though I am told I am allowed two activations...
    I tried phoning the help line again but its not working - I hope I receive a email by monday which resolves the problem or the help line starts working again - Otherwise I will have to turn down the job I was planning to do, as I just can't afford to buy the software again - and why should I, I have the discs in front of me all 5 discs of which I brought over  a period of 12 years.
    I am really not happy I should be working not writing complaining posts..
    If an adobe person is reading this help me out PLEASE, PLEASE -I have had really bad luck recently, my computer died on me just after the warrenty ran out after two years, I have had to buy a new computer and now I can't use the software that I own because I can't re-activate it, because your help phone-lines aren't working...
    I have the serial number for my failed computer so I can prove that I owned that computer and mac have registrared it as failing if that is any help to proving that I own my software that I brought..

  • Lagging quality standards

    I really wanted to keep this post off of the forums, but I couldn't find an email address to send this directly to BB.  I've been very happy with my Curve 8330 since it was released.
    I am really concerned about the lagging quality standards that seem to be consuming RIM lately.  Two of the most recent CDMA Berries, the Storm and the Tour, both have been riddled with problems -- not just in the operating system but even in build quality & materials used.
    I don't need to go into the long explanation of what is wrong, as it's all documented by users HERE.
    My hope is that someone who gives a **bleep** at RIM will look at the production/manufacturing processes and fix this emerging trend of releasing bug-riddled phones and MAYBE fixing the OS-related problems later with a patch.  Obviously, the manufacturing of the devices themselves can't be fixed with a patch; so, there is no excuse for using shoddy materials and assembly procedures.
    Come on, RIM.  Please get organized.

    I have supported and walked many BlackBerry users through many issues. Rarely the
    issues have been with faulty hardware. I became convinced of the quality of these devices
    so much so I finally got my first, the Tour. Sad to say that I am disappointed in the
    craftsmanship of this device. Not in it's sturdiness. But the simple fact that it does not
    perform steadily in any manner. Lagging sporadically, whether due to poor quality
    memory or badly developed code, either way it is not acceptable. Throw into the ring
    the wacky behavior of the trackball and it basically makes the device totally useless.
    There is not one thing that I can say thus far that is predictable and reliable about the
    device. Free phones from companies perform better than this. I for one say, "If you pay
    a premium, you should get a premium product."
    To me this shows a lack of respect for the customer base that RIM has. Trying to increase
    the bottom line with poor materials, cheap developers, and lacking manufacturing which to
    me seems they are trying to lossen our tolerance standards and get we their clients to accept
    a product that had no business being in the market. 
    They say that Microsoft has the largest beta tester group in the world. Their customers that pay
    for their product! I hope that RIM is not taking this route.
    I do have a replacement on the way for this device. I hope that it is indeed a much better
    quality device. But I do whole heartedly agree. The quality has missed the mark on many
    levels.

  • Master data is not getting displayed in the Report in Quality

    HI Experts,
    I have ZESP_Num as master for my transaction data.
    I have loaded the data in the Development and designed and checked my report. It is working fine.
    But after moving it to Quality. My report is not getting the master data.
    When I try to do right click manage ZESP_Num.
    I'm getting message like this.
    The data from the InfoProvider ZESP_NUM involved could not be checked
    Message no. DBMAN242
    Diagnosis
    A participating InfoProvider is virtual and aggreement between results and selections cannot be guaranteed.

  • Can I return my new laptop to lenovo because of its quality problem?

    IBM is one of the best brand as I know, especially showing us not only high quality of products but the service.
    But now one thing happened to me, if I don't have this case I can't believe. I found there is something with the laptop(T61 Model 7658CTO) the same day when I got the new laptop on June 3rd, 2008. Then I call 800, a lot of 800 calls,at last I were told that I should contact send it back first if I were to get another new one. Three days later I got the box sent by Lenovo, and I return it back in terms of what the paper shown.
    Unfortunately the problems of the laptop still exist when I turn on my laptop after it repaired. What's wrong with my laptop, this is new one, I think IBM should provide high quality products.
    I don't know how to describe the weird sound , it sounds like two or more micphone opened clost to each other. It is very harsh.
    I want to get one new laptop from Lenovo because of the quality of product and customer service or can I return the laptop?
    I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

    I did it last week because I bought an iPhone 4 as a wedding gift but then I changed my mind and wanted an iPad, so the bride could use it together with the groom (while the phone is personal).
    I returned the iPhone to the apple store and I paid the difference to buy the 32GB iPad, no problems
    I didn't opened the case, but the guy at the apple store told me I could have returned the phone even if it was opened. It must be undamaged tough.

  • Questions on default print quality and print order

    I recently upgraded to CS 5.5, a clean install on a new Mac running 10.7. I've found two issues regarding printing from both Acrobat and InDesign:
    In both programs, if I go directly to print (command-P, then hit OK without changing settings), documents will print at my printer's default setting, which is for a high-quality photo on glossy paper. (I haven't figured out yet how to change that default.) I want it to print to my faster standard quality  setting, which is generally also the "last-used" setting. I can of course go into printer settings to fix -- each time I do that, my standard setting is already set in that window -- but I have to make that move every time I print.
    Previous versions of both programs (CS3) automatically went into the last-used or standard setting. How can I get that back?
    Also, print order hasn't been working as it did in CS3. Documents print first-page-first in CS 5.5, unless I check "Reverse order"; in CS3, docs printed last-page-first automatically, without checking any additional box, making documents easier to collate. Also, on many documents, "Odd pages only" prints the even ones, and vice-versa.
    How can I get the automatic reverse order and correct odd/even back in Indesign 5.5 and Acrobat X Pro?

    Well, if you are able to log on the BPS application (thus, a Web Interface if I'm not mistaken) then it means that some user is logged on the ABAP-side. It is either a "personal" user or a technical (common) user, that is used for anonymous access.
    You will certainly be able to track down this user with the SM04 transaction.
    You should be able to add a button to the BPS page. One idea would be to call an URL with an ICF service behind that will be able to process the parameters contained in this URL.
    It will be this very ICF service that will call the BAPI.

  • How many times can you "Export - Quicktime movie" the same ProRes 422 file until it starts to lose quality?

    Lets say you are done with your project & you want an uncompressed copy of it as your master. If you keep importing it back into Final Cut Pro, & keep exporting (Quicktime movie), will it ever start to lose quality?

    I've never seen a number given, but would think it is very high.

       "while remaining visually lossless through many generations of decoding and reencoding."
    I don't think I've ever seen degradation caused by recompression or multiple compassion, but as a workflow if you output a master file, then re-import it to add graphics and export that, you would only be 1 generation down from the master file. If you wanted to make multiple versions, you can always go back to, and re-import,  the master file and make the changes, then export, so all you exports stay only 1 generation down from the master file.

         I don't frequent this forum too often, I probably glance at it once a week or so, but it doesn't take a regular visitor to take notice that this forum is always peppered with 3G complaints, some more or less valid than others.  However, after reading through a couple different threads tonight I'm afraid I'm going to have to hop on the bandwagon and question my 3G speeds.
         First off, I saw somebody say that 90-100 dBM isn't very good.  I am always stuck at around 98 dBm in my home though, and when I'm out and about I find it never gets below the high 80s.  Is this normal?  Also in my Settings>About Phone>Status menu, it constantly  says I am on an "Network Unknown."  This occurs and remains constant despite any combination of settings, including  roaming being on or off, and whether or not I am on 3G, 1X, or WiFi.
         Speaking of WiFi...when I am at home I use my home router as opposed to 3G for obvious reasons, which is a NETGEAR N router, yet I still only average about 2.5 mbps when connected to it or any wifi elsewhere.  Yes, I have tried turning my routers security off, and yes, I do have it in b/g mode.  I have also done the 228 number thing, the disabling of voice privacy suggestion, turning roaming on/off, several factory resets, etc. 
        Basically I'm just curious to know if anybody else is having similar issues, and what your average speeds are.  Infact, I'm going to make a little form below this paragraph for anyone who is interested, and rename the title of this post.  Perhaps we can congregate enough responses to come up with an average and then determine whether we are receiving acceptable service or not:

    first...how do i check my signal and speed? do i NEED an app or is there somewhere on the phone to do this? (i've seen others talk about 85-95 dBM, but never knew how to check). let me know and i'll post the results.
    also, one other thing you can try....and i MUST stress that i know little about this, except that it seemed to have improved my quality (voice/sound....my phone sounded "muffled" on both ends) on both ends, but i'm not sure if it actually increased my signal strength?

    hit menu and "commit modifications."
    from what i gather, evrc-b is better technology, but is not supported everywhere. so if you try this and your signal is worse (or gone) then you'll need to follow the steps to switch it back. you will also want to save these instructions to your phone in case you find yourself somewhere that appears to be getting poor or no signal, so you can switch it back.

  • Large pdf(40MB) with 600 pages color quality is poor if i print more than 1 or 2 pages at a time.

    I have a 40MB PDF file with over 600 pages of color images. If i print each page one at a time, there is no issue whatsoever with the quality, but if i print say 5 pages, the 4th and 5th page and any subsequent page will look like rubbish. In general, just not the same color quality as before. The Konica Minolta printer doesn't seem to be at fault here because like i mentioned, this problem does not occur if i print individual sheets, just if i print more than 5 or so.
    Printing individual sheets in this instance, however, is not a real solution because in all the job will have many thousand pages. What do i do? Any one here experience a similar problem?

    This is my take on his diagnosis,
    The c353 while capable of quality output is not exactly a robust production level machine.
    Without the aid of a RIP, all the processing needs to happen either in memory or it may have a hdd. Does the machine have a hard drive?
    In either case, you are running out of memory.
    Changing the printers properties on spooling may aid in completing the job.
    He mentioned sending the job as raster. Print as Image from Acrobat's Advanced tab would do that, but I think you would cripple your computer doing such. Try it; be prepared to go out to lunch or something while it churns away.

  • A/P Credit memo after GRIN Quality Inspection

    Hi all,
    We have to implement GRIN Quality Check module for one implementation. What we have done in the add on that for one GRIN, we go to Quality Check Program where item wise we enter the Accepted Quantity and Rejected Quantity . Then for all the Rejected Quantity we move the items from Raw Material W/Hs (GRIN W/Hs) to Rejection W/Hs and then create the invoice for complete GRIN Quantity for all the items . We have thought  to return back the rejected items using A/P Credit memo which will both nullify the Invoice affect as well as Stock Affect . But there is a problem that we are encountering during A/P Credit memo :
    When we perform Copy From from A/P Invoice to A/P Credit Memo , all the details form A/P Invoice are copied don to A/P Credit memo , but we want to return the goods not from RM WHs but from the Rejection WHs as we had already moved the Rejected Items stock to Rejection WHs ,when we change the code of Warehouse from RM WHs to Rejection WHs , it removed the tax code from Tax Code columns for that row and later does not even allow to edit the Tax Code for that row without which we are not able to save the A/P Credit memo.
    please suggest the best way of implementing the complete scenario so that we could both be able to maintaining the separate stock of Rejected Items, Return it back after creating the complete Invoice . We also wanted to create the complete invoice after GRIN irrespective of the no. of items rejected.

    Actually I just want to confirm one thing first, that we are working for GRIN Inspection as follows :
    1. GRIN
    2. Inspection of all the items in a particular GRIN
    3.Stock Transfer of Rejected Items to Rejection Locations
    4.Now we want to create Complete Invoice that is invoice for Complete Quantity irrespective of Rejected Qty.
    5.Now Returning back the Rejected Qty of items from Rejection Whs and Credit note for Vendor to reduce the due balance.
    But when I try to create A/P Credit memo from AP invoice I want to change the WhsCode from RM Whs to Rehection Whs which if done , Tax code disaapears and disables.
    What should be done.

    It means you are sending down the same characteristic to an external system like LIMS more then once. 
    I believe this is a warning.  Not a hard error but I'm not 100%sure.
