LV 2013 Launches LVRTE 8.2.1 config when I launch it, demands MSI file

When I launch LV 2013 x32 on W7 x64, I see the "Ni LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.2.1" dialog pops up with a "Please wait while windows configures LabVIEW RTE 8.2.1".
Then it pops up a dialog asking me to locate the 8.2.1 LVRTE install MSI, which I don't have.
After cancelling this process 3 times, LV 2013 launches.
However, this causes VIPM to fail to connec to 2013, and I cannot install libraries.
any ideas?

It’s odd that LabVIEW 2013 is complaining about the 8.2.1 Run-Time Engine.
Are you loading or running any VIs from LabVIEW 8.2.1?
Have you tried reinstalling the 8.2.1 Run-Time? This should replace any files that may be missing.
You can download the Run-Time from the link below if it's not already installed on your machine.
 http://www.ni.com/download/labview-run-time-engine-8.2.1/550/en/
What are you using the VI Package Manager for?

  • Major delays when I launch Acrobat X (Acrobat Not Responding)

I have Acrobat X (and Adobe CS6) installed on a relatively fast Windows machine.  When I click on Photoshop, Illustrator, etc they launch within 2-3 seconds.
When I click on a PDF file, Acrobat X launches immediately but then it stops (the Acrobat window fades and I get an "not responding message") for as long as 60-120 seconds. After the delay, everything is fine. If I close the existing PDF file (not terminating Acrobat) and open another PDF file, all is still fast and OK. But if I close Acrobat and re-launch another PDF file, the same behavior is displayed.
Based on my initial observations (but I cannot clearly pinpoint it) it may be related to my wired and wireless connections. I am not 100% sure, but may be when the wireless adapter is enabled, this happens. Both my wired and wifi connections are very stable and steady.
Any thoughts? This has been quite annoying.

    Hello,
    Try the following steps,
    - close all Adobe applications.
    - Navigate to :
    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat
    - You can also navigate by Typing %appdata% into Run command window.
    - Rename Acrobat folder to Acrobat.old and then try to launch the program.
    Regards,
    Yuvarj.

  • When right clicking on a doc file and choosing create a pdf file....Word 2013 launches and creates problems. We are using Acrobat Pro. Is there a way to turn off this feature in Word 2013?

Is there a way around Word 2013 hijacking Acrobat Pro "create a pdf" process? When right clicking on a doc file and choosing "create a pdf" .......the Acrobat process will beging but then Word 2013 jumps in and creates problems.

That's exactly why it needs to support it... The support means the
application was tested in the supported environment and is known to work
well in it. In unsupported environments you can get all kind of strange
conflicts like the one you're experiencing.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

When I launch I photo it wants me to choose a library but it doesn't find one which is impossible, because i still have no storage. before i can clean up i want to back up them. how can i find my library?

You may very well have damaged your library - or even your system by not having adaquate storage available
And never select all of the pitcture and move them - that will destroy your library - the iPhotolibrary is a SQLite database and must always be kept intact as a single entity -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • Pages version 5.0 installed, but when I launch it's 4.0.5.  How do I fix this?

I installed OS X version 10.9 successfully on my 2009 iMac.  After installation, the latest versions of Keynote, Numbers, and Pages downloaded as an update.
When I launch Pages, it is still the 4.0.5 version.  Both Keynote and Numbers are the new version when launched.
I'm not sure where to go from here.  When I go to the Pages app in the app store, it says it's installed.  It also says it's installed on the "Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days" screen.
My iPad has Pages 5.0, so I would like to make sure they both run the same version of the software.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you checked your Applications folder for the stand alone Pages 5? It is not installed within the iWorks 09 folder as those apps are still in place. You can choose to use either the old or new version. If necessary, try to control click on a Pages document and then choose Get Info. When open, scroll down and choose with Pages version you want it opened with - as you can see, the new version is the default, but the old version is available (4.3).

I have Lightroom 6 (not CC) on a Windows machine.  I'm prompted to log into Creative Cloud when I restart my computer (I don't have, use, or pay for Creative Cloud), and then when I launch Lightroom, it tells me to use the application I have to log into my Adobe account...AGAIN!  And then to further add insult to injury, I'm prompted to enter in the license number of my product.  I've gone through this process a dozen times now...SCREAM!!!

Paulou12 what type of a Creative Cloud Membership do you have?  You can find details on how to update Lightroom using the Creative Cloud Desktop application at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
Finally if you are in a managed environment then please work with your I.T. department to apply the update.

  • Can I launch a vi when TS launches

I am looking for a way to launch a vi in its own thread when TestStand launches. Is there a way to do this in the process model or before any sequence files are loaded. Here's my use case...
I have a test station with removable test heads for different UUTs. Based on the test head ID I would like to only allow certain sequence files to be opened. When the operator clicks on the "load sequence file" button, a quick check to StationGobals.TestHeadID will allow me to customize the list of available sequence files. I need a daemon running in a seperate thread checking if the test head is installed and, if it is, writting the test head ID to a station global, but I would like it to start checking as soon as TestStand is launched.
I have a couple more uses for this functionality, but they are all similar. Any ideas?
EDIT: I'm running TS 4.1 and LabVIEW 8.6 --- The Bleeding Edge!

You could put the Run VI Asynchronously step in the FrontEndCallback.seq file.  That gets called whenever a user logs in and out of TS.  There are basically two steps in there and each has a precondition based on the parameter being passed into the LoginLogout sequence.  You could do the same preconditions for your step.  The actual file is located: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1\Components\NI\Callbacks\FrontEnd  but I highly recommend you move it to: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1\Components\User\Callbacks\FrontEnd  (difference is NI vs User) barring no changes from TS 4.0 to 4.1.  TS looks in the User folder first then in the NI folder if it can't find it there.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • When first launching Calendar in Month view, events are missing

On my iPad 1 running iOS 5.0.1, when I launch Calendar in Month view, the entire calendar is blank (no events). I have to either select a different view or create a new event in order for events to show up. This has been the case since upgrading to iOS 5 and also happens on my wife's iPad 2. I have restored both devices multiple times for other issues and the condition remains.

Figured it out - the event has to be marked as full day event in order to be shown in monthly calendar. Disregard my question.

  • I want to force iTunes to organize my mp3/mp4 files as I want and show that when I launch iTunes

I find file management in iTunes to be very unApple like. Periodically I import mp3 or mp4 files that show up under music when I launch iTunes. I would like to name and order them by date and put them in a folder, album, or some collection item to facilitate finding and using them later. Copy and paste does not work,
drag and drop does not work. If I go to where the items are stored as music files I can achieve a named collection of these files ordered as I wish. That, however, does not manifest itself back in iTunes.
One of two things appears to be the case. Either I cannot manage iTunes as it thinks it owns everything or I simply cannot uses the apple file management paradigm in use for the past two decades on an Apple computer running iTunes. Perhaps both of these are true. Another possibility is to install a different program over which I have control and disable iTunes from ever touching one of my imported files.
It is possible that Apple intentionally obfuscated file management with iTunes to simplify their commercial management of the iTunes store, and while that is a possibility, understanding it is enigmatic.
Another quandary is the concept of album. Under "New", playlists are mentioned, but not albums or folders. Yet both may show up mysteriously. There must be a ghost in my computer.
Help and psychoanalysis will be appreciated.
    RAZ

Since there are no obvious answers to this dilemma, I have changed my thinking on the subject. It is a title like giving up on teaching a pig to sing. Since I can organize all my mp3 files anyway I choose and furthermore can name them anything I choose I have done so and stored them under a named folder in the Music folder. I can play them with Quick Time and never have to go through iTunes at all.
    Case closed.
