LV PDA 8.2 Need to install PNG support files if using Bitmaps?

Hello All:
I'm using 8-bit bitmaps in my LV PDA 8.2 Windows Mobile 5.0 app.  I found out bitmaps will not load unless I install the PNG support files into my PDA.  Is this a misnomer?  Should the PNG install files be called Image install files?
The reason why I post this:
I have an app where the user will have to install my app and supporting files, install the LV SMS files and now have to install PNG support files even though I use bitmaps only.  Well you get the idea, more installations means more chances of user errors.  Is there a package installer that can bundle all of these installations(i.e. Install Shield for Windows Mobile)?
BTW; My 3Meg bitmap that used to take 1 and a half in minute to load in v 8.01 now takes about 30 seconds.  This 3 fold increase makes my day.
Thanks
Robert

Robert,
You shouldn't have to load the PNG support files if you are just using bitmaps.  I just tried this on the Windows Mobile 5.0 emulator and it works fine with all types of bitmaps without the PNG support files.  I think this is a valid test because when I tried to use a PNG image on the emulator I got an error when it was trying to load lpngce.dll (PNG support file).  Is this the error that you get when trying to use a bitmap without the PNG support files?

    Hi kellyo68596735,
That capability is a function of PDFMaker, which is currently only available on Windows.

  • Help please, trying to install a Plug-In, do I need to install the .fpx files in PSE7?

I'm new at installing Plug-In filters.  I have downloaded a plug-in that has these file types:  .bf and .fpx   Total files in the download (10) FPX and (1) BF.
I'm using Photoshop Elements 7.   Am I supposed to install the .fpx files?
Thanks very much for your help!

Thanks very much for the link.  I didn't install the .fpx files and the plug-in works.  However, I have another problem:  I seem to be missing the ThumbDatabase.db3 file.  And I don't know if that's what's causing this, but whenever I try to install an action, my previously installed actions disappear from the Effects Panel!  Do you have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?   Thanks so much!

  • Need to install FCS3 in Maverick and using USB 3.0

I will be getting two machines - a new MBP with Retina and an iMac. Both are coming in any day, July 2014. This means OS Maverick OS. I opted to have FCX pre-installed (momentary lapse of judgement) on both, but I also hold licenses for FCStudio3. Can FCS3 be installed on both new machines with out much hassle? I'll adapt, but I need my back up editing platform as I am a non-stop editor. Or, do I suffer my fate, leave the old software on my old machines, which I get to keep, and press on.
My only downside is the re-purchase of some peripheral software and plugins, but i'll suck that up, (its not my money, ha).
ALSO, is USB 3.0 a good pipeline for editing? I've got to have new drives for these machines, and I really need to have a small daisy chain if possible. I need a good pipeline for full HD and my machines have Tbolt and USB 3 ports.
    Your suggestions will help, tremendously.

As FCP X and FCP 7 both have the same name (Final Cut Pro) they cannot exist simultaneously in the Applications Folder but fear not, the cure is simple.
Change the FCP X name to something like FCP X or whatever you fancy and then you should have no problem installing FCS3.
Dyed-in-the-wool pros would probably never touch USB 3.0 but for normal mortals they are perfectly fine  .  .  .  as indeed are USB 2.0
Addendum: I can't remember for sure, but if you try to instal FCS3 without changing the name of FCP X,  I have the feeling that it will go ahead and install FCS3 in a folder called Final Cut Studio  inside the Applications folder.
Also, if FCP X does not have the name Final Cut Pro  Software Update will not recognise it.

You only need the ODBC driver on each computer. If you are distributing the SQL Toolkit app as an executable and do not install the whole toolkit on each computer, you'll need the SQL Toolkit support files. This is about a dozen files. You can get the list at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/b814be005f9da9258625658700550c75?OpenDocument.

LibreOffice gives you most if not all the functionality of Microsoft's Office suite of products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
ProjectLibre gives you most if not all the functionality of MS Project.
Both run natively on OS X and are totally FREE.
Lastly, if you need to access Windows computers from your Mac, Microsoft Remote Desktop is available for free from the App Store. It is a vast improvement over the Remote Desktop Connection that comes with the MS Office for Mac commercial product.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.3 "Could not copy necessary support files" Install Error

I bought the box set version of Snow Leopard 10.6.3. I am getting an error when installing it on my Macbook pro model A1150 2.16ghz. The error message says that it cannot install the support files and to restart the computer. I am currently running 10.4.11. I already checked all the hardware and everything passed. I also erased the hard drive as well and still cannot get it to work. I read in some forums that it is sometimes due to faulty RAM. I had recently installed a 1gb chip, so I removed that and still was not able to get it to work. Help please??

First, your hard drive may be failing. Second, maybe it's not the new RAM module but the old one. Third, your drive may be corrupted. Try this:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. Quit DU when formatting is complete and return to the installer. Install OS X.

  • Need in-person technical support, Denton, TX

I have been struggling with Premiere Elements daily for about six weeks.  Virtually nothing works as expected.  I have completed training.  I have asked here.  I have used the Adobe Chat feature.  I have reinstalled the software.  I have optimized my hard drive.  (I have no problems editing videos with Windows Movie Maker Live with this same computer.)
I have to assume there is something wrong with my hardware configuration or the way the PE11 is set up on my computer.  (Either that or PE11 is crap, and I'm really leaning towards this latter explanation.)
How do I find someone who can help me in person?

    Cindy,
    Great news!
Now, if you DID Delete your Prefs file, as ATR instructed, and it became instantly corrupted, I would survey your I/O sub-system, I.e. your HDD's, in case there is some issue there, that is causing corruption.
Some Adobe users seem to need to refresh their Prefs files often (used by several Adobe programs), but in 20 years of heavy use, I have had to do so only once in Photoshop, and that was when another program crashed my system during a Save, and have never had to do so with any version of Premiere (the original Premiere, Premiere Pro or Premiere Elements). Maybe I have just been very lucky. Pref files can become corrupt, but not all that often - I would fear that something was wrong somewhere.
    1.  The support rep didn't charge me the $39.  I asked him how I was supposed to pay, and he said, no charge.  I have no idea why.
That was a kind gesture, and I am glad to hear of it. I know that Adobe has been working on both Customer Support and Technical Support, so perhaps that tech rep was trying to do their part. Good news.
    2.  About a week ago, a support rep on chat told me that PE11 didn't work with the iPhone.  So I've been jumping through hoops to reformat my files before bringing them in to PE11.  After deleting the preference file, PE11 worked with my .mov file (iPhone 5 video) just fine.  Go figure.
Where iPhone footage CAN be an issue, is if the device uses Variable Frame-Rates, when recording. I first started seeing that, with the iPhone 4S (could have been before, but I did not read of it), and then more with the iPhone 5. Personally, I do not know when the Variable Frame-Rate is invoked - maybe when shooting high-motion, that then slows, or stops? Maybe others can tell you more about the devices?
If your iPhone footage is NOT Variable Frame-Rate, then PrE should have no issues with it. Just remember to shoot in Landscape Mode, and not Portrait.
Many users, with iPhone 5's, have found that if they Open their Variable Frame-Rate footage in Apple's QuickTime Pro (a US$ 29 upgrade/unlock), then Export to MOV or MP4 w/ the H.264 CODEC, that resultant footage will be a Constant Frame-Rate, and will then Import fine, into PrE. There are probably other workflows, but the QT Pro method has become popular with the PrPro crowd.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Do I need to install CS3 on Windows 7 64 bit before installing CS5 Upgrade?

I am replacing a graphic designer's Windows Vista laptop with a Dell Precision T5500 desktop.  Do I need to uninstall CS3 from the laptop and decommission the serial number?  Then do I need to install CS3 on the new desktop before installing the CS5 upgrade?  I was told I needed to decommission the installation, but I don't remember having to do that with other installations.  Thanks in advance!

You should definetly deactivate any software before uninstalling. But you don't have to install CS3 in order to install CS5. Just have the serial number handy for verification. That said, depending upon the user's needs, you might want to leave CS3 available.
