LX7 Lens Correction in LR4

I see that my Lumix LX-7 is supported by LR 4.3 (Camera Raw 7.3), but when in the Lens Correction portion of the Develop module, I can't find any reference to Panasonic or Lumix. Leica lenses are listed, but I can't find any that are equivalent to the LX-7's lens.
Can you suggest which Leica lens I should choose?
Is there a reason that the lens is not automatically selected the same way my other lenses (Canon, Sigma, Tokina) are for my 7-D?

Save the settings as a "User Preset" under the Develop Panel
Open the Import Window and select "Apply During Import"

Select "Copy to DNG" as the import type
Once the preset has been set on import it will apply the setting and then convert the file to a .DNG with the settings applied. So at that point if you go to the Develop Panel and choose Lens Correction, the correct lens will show up in the list with it's adjustments.

Pentax Lens Correction in LR4

Is it just me or I don't have Pentax in Lens Correction tab in the Develop Module of LR4? How can I add it like it was in LR3?

Lr4 Available Lens Correction Profiles

Hi, I recently purchased LR4 - 4.2 (as a download) and installed in onto my PC, running Windows 7, 64bit. I cannot get the "Lens Corrections" tool, to work correctly. When editing images, the lens correction tool, only displays a small sample size (like 4 or 6 lenses approx.), of lenses to choose from, however (only once) it displayed a complete lists of lenses to suit my Nikon D800E, including the lens profile I required at the time, being the Zeiss 50mm f1.4, so I am aware that Lr4 is capable of facilitating my lens profile requirements. I have previously seen a comprehensive list displayed within Lr4, but it had disappeared? I am unable to solve this issue myself-sorry. This is frustrating, can you please help me rectify this issue. In the mean time, I have resorted to using the ePaperPress product, PT Lens-which has helped me immensely.. Thank you.

The Zeiss 50mm F1.4 has very low distortion and virtually no vignetting at F2 and above. I doubt you will see much correction using a lens profile with it except perhaps at F1.4. Just make sure you have 'Remove Chromatic Aberration' checked under the 'Color' tab as your LR 'Default' setting, which is lens independent.
As Lee Jay pointed out you probably saw more profiles (only once) because it was a NEF raw format file. Unless you have a good reason to shoot only in JPEG format with your Nikon D800, I'd set it to shoot NEF raw files or raw +JPEG. If interested there is a lively discussion on this very topic:

LR4 lens correction profiles for micro 4/3s lenses?

Hi,
Recently bought into the m43s system because of the compact fast primes (Lumix G 20 1.7 and Olympus 24 1.8) and it looks like there are no "built-in" lens profiles for either in LR4 when I check "enable lens corrections". I thought I read somewhere that the 20 1.7 requires correction as it has a significant amount of (barrel, iirc) distortion if not corrected, yet the RAW images look fine upon import -- is Lightroom doing something that does not require a profile? Am I missing something else?

they are build in. no need for lens profiles.
panasonic and olympus lenses for m43 provide lens correction data, raw files contain the parameters needed for raw conversion software, that´s part of the system design.

LR4 Beta...another problem with using Lens Correction

Not sure if it's me or the beta. I'm trying to do a lens correction on a file that was edited in CS5. The photos were taken in 2009/10. They are importing as Process 2012.
I'm using the Lens Correction in manual. About 15 seconds after I start using the sliders, my LR stops working and I have to close the program (white outs the screen with the note saying the program has to be closed).
I do know there can be problems with a beat so I wanted to post this problem in case it is a bug in the system.

I have the same probem if I try to push the scale slider down below about 87%. It is quite annoying when it keeps happening on the same photo. It's not something I use a lot but it can be necessary with tall buildings when the correction pushes the top out of the frame.

LR4 lens correction. When will canon 10-18mm lens be added

I recently purchased a canon 10-18mm lens. But when I tried to use the lens correction facility I discovered that it was not on the dropdown list of lenses.
Do you know a date when it will be added?

I have a similar Windows version so I can give you specific instructions. This is how to copy the lens profile for the 10-18 from the Adobe PS location to the Users location so an older LR can see it.
Download and install the DNG Converter 8.7 from: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ This will put the new profiles at a known location.
Find the profile you want to copy under C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon and right-click Copy
I think the file you want is: Canon EOS 50D (Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM) - RAW.lcp
Go to the Users profile location: C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded
You may need to create some of the folder path, but down through Roaming should exist. The AppData folder is hidden so you may have to type it into Explorer and hit Enter to get down into it, or type %AppData% into an Explorer address bar and hit Enter and you should be down into the Roaming folder.
Once you are in the Downloaded folder (that you may have had to create) do a Paste to copy the profile over to it, and you're done, once you've restarted LR so it'll see the new profile.

Accuracy of Lens Correction in LR3 or 4

Hi! I recently bought my Fuji X10 und downloaded LR4 (beta). Im quite new to LR & RAW, but learning fast.
Since there is no LCP for the X10 available yet, I'm doing lens correction manually. But the manual correction is quite limited, especially for the 28mm wide angle distortion of the X10.
My efforts result in almost perfect horizontal & vertical lines in the center, but especially the horizontal lines spread towards the edge.

Now I would like to know, if a later available LCP would correct this further and straighten all lines? Hoping not to need Photoshop to do the job.

Manual lens correction model is limited and only account for lower order distortion terms. The distortion used in the LCP is more powerful and can account for higher order distortion terms. You can build your own custom lens profiles using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lensprofile_creator.html. Or see if others have built and shared the same lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.

Lightroom 5 and Lens Correction-issue

Hi, sometimes in LR4 I used the lens correction. Most pictures nowadays I take with an old NIkon 24-85:2.8-4 lens. When I tick lens correction and choose as manufacturer Nikon it automatically gave me the Nikon 24-85:3.5-4.5 (as the 2.8-4-version is not present), but usable. In LR5 it always gives me a Nikon Coolpix-lens and I have to manually change it. Quite annoying.

LR has not automatically assigned that lens profile, since it does not exactly correspond.
But it's no biggie...after manually selecting a particular lens profile, you can set that as a user default to be used in future (for any other pictures that report the same lens data as the current active image does).
It's an option in the drop-down menu within the lens profile panel.
Your LR default settings or import preset affecting these future imported images, will just need to ensure that Profile is active, and that the selection of profile is set to Default (instead of Manual) within this same drop-down menu.
Hereafter, LR will adopt whatever profile is the factory default or (as an override) is the user selected default, or (failing both) no profile at all, for each image imported.

Lens correction bug, bad artifacts with contrast adjustments...

Something has changed between LR3 and LR4 in the processing chain for lens corrections. Doing an extreme correction (e.g. using a LCP for a fisheye lens) with increased contrast causes bad halos at contrast edges. The effect doesn't occur with the same settings on LR3. It is almost as if the LCP is being applied after the basic controls rather than before?!?!?!?!

So I did a bit more checking. It is actually the highlights slider that does it - contrast just makes it more obvious. It is as if the highlights "masking" is getting created in the pre-transformed data and then distorted in some way when going through and extreme LCP like with a fish-eye. Here is an example, contrast at 100 and the "Strong Contrast" tone curve used in both. The one of the left has highlights at 100. Notice the "shadows" in the sky of the leaves, as if the mask was somehow stretched differently from the image data. This was with a fisheye lens and fisheye LCP. You can actually recreate the problem to a degree yourself with any image. Just apply any of the fisheye lens profiles from Adobe (Nikon 10.5mm for example) and look at high contrast regions near the edges of the frame with highlights set to 100%. You'll see shadows like this (again, easier to see with extreme contrast settings). Without an extreme profile applied no such effect.

The chromatic aberration check box that should be present under lens corrections is missing from my LR4 program, can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to get it back

What version of LR4 are you using? There was a change made to the CA removal process in LR4.1, and the "Remove Chromatic Aberration" check box is now under the "Color" tab of the Lens Correction panel.

Lens correction options

I notice that we have a range of lenses catered for, including Apple iPhone.
Will there be additional profiles for Panasonic, Sony and Olympus in the near furture?

I think it reasonable to assume that all of the lens profiles that are currently available in LR3 will be ported to LR4 RC. Bearing in mind that this is day one of the public beta I would focus on providing feedback about the new features so that the release candidate contains the program functionality you want. Lens corrections are already a part of lightroom and additional profiles are frequently incorporated in the updates.

Missing lens correction activated automatically

There is many develop functions which can be pre-set in LR preferences. One of the mostly used functions is the lens correction (at least for me). I use it for every picture. But, this function can not be automatically activated via settings presets. When you have proceed 100+ more RAW pictures in short time, it is very boring to set it manually for every picture separatelly.
I have read, in the LR4, there should be possibility to preset automatically picture develop options according the picture ISO, but either I did not find it there or it does not work.

So just clarify for me, are you having to manually check the lens corrections checkbox, or select a different lens? Both can be automated, just need to know which you're getting stuck on.

Manual Lens Correction in Lightroom 4

The Manual Lens Correction sliders in Lightroom 4 seem completely useless. They aren't working the same as they do in Lightroom 3. Instead of being able to fix keystoning of images, now the horizontal and vertical sliders just stretch or distort photos. Is this a bug? If not, is it possible to go back to the functionality from LR3? If this isn't possible, I'm probably going to switch back to Lightroom 3, since this is one of the program's most useful features.

Which is totally correct IMHO (and hasn't changed since LR3).
P.S. I don't know which angle of view LR assumes for photos w/o information about focal length and sensor size (probably 50mm focal length and 35 mm film format ("full format") sensor.
