LXDM breaks the console from where it's launched

I'm having a very weird issue with LXDM when launched from a tty.
I usually boot my Arch in level 3, and then manually switch to X if I need it. Sometimes I type "init 5", and some other times I type "/etc/rc.d/[whatever]dm start".
So if, as a desktop manager, I launch xdm or gdm, everything works ok. HOWEVER, if I launch lxdm, then I experience this very weird issue: when going back to the text console (usually Ctrl+Alt+F1) from where I launched the session (and only that one!), the console behaves very strangely, half the characters I type don't get echoed to the screen, non-ascii characters are not recognized, etc. If I go back to any other console (F2 to F6), it works ok.
This problem occurs whenever I launch lxdm, regardless of which session I open in the desktop manager (sometimes I open Lxde, sometimes Xfce4).
And this is a pity, because it prevents me from using lxdm, which I'd like to use.
Does anybody have a clue about what might be the reason or the cause for this? Any hint?

Nope. It's the method described in the wiki somewhere to launch startx from inittab:
x:5:once:/bin/su gusar -l -c "/bin/bash --login -c startx > /dev/null 2>&1"
Edit: And you know what the weird part is? Doesn't seem to happen on my LiveUSB distro. I use busybox for a few things there, but otherwise it's pretty much Arch packaged into a squashfs image. Weird quirks, don't you just love them?

Did you try the following?
In your trace with ST05:
i) Find the line that you are interested, right-click and select 'Display ABAP Source'.
OR
ii) Go to Trace List menu and click 'Summarize Trace by SQL Statement'. Then here, select the line you want and again right click to see 'Display ABAP Source'.

I'm Chintan from India. I have visited UK for study and brought iPhone 5 for me. I used it for about 16 days and now its started showing the problem of coverage. I mean, it shows "NO SERVICE" at the place of carrier name and tower symbol.
My query:
Do Apple have this kind of worthless service provider policy?
I have visited the local authorized service center and they are not accepting my iPhone 5 and telling me that they can not accept it for repair or service because I have brought it from UK. I have checked my iPhone 5 status on the Apple Site and it is showing full cover of Repair and Service, then why the local Apple Authorized Service Center is not accepting my iPhone 5?

You should have read the warranty/support terms before you made your purchase. Had you, you would have found that iPhone warranty/support is only valid in the country of original purchase(except for the EU where warranty/support is EU wide). In your case, your warranty/support is only valid in the EU, as you have now found out...after your purchase. And, you are correct, they will not service the phone in India.
Always been this way with the iPhone.

How execute a command on the Console from our prgm

can any body let me know how do we execute a command on the Console from our prgm . . on a windows platform ..
eg. a simple commant like "dir" or "cls" . . or whatever . . .
i heard that it can be done by calling the native methods . . but how is that done???

Thanks for your prompt reply...but is there no solution to it...since the file download is almost 4.34gb..its a long download..internet is bound to go down for a while in such a long download..and whenever the net goes down for a minute or two I pause the download and restart..but everytime I restart it starts from the beginning...i believe for the earlier version i.e. Lion pause function was enabled and download used to begin from I have paused...I then successfully downloaded lion on the same internet network I now use at my home..Please help if you can or ne1 can..Many Thanks!!!

After upgrading a Windows XP Pro SP1 machine to the ZfDagent from the
zfd65u2 patch I receive the following error:

For now I have went back to the ZfD 4 IR5 agent which doesn't exhibit this
problem. Any ideas?

If it ain't there, I'd recommend upgrading your kernel ... or you could compile from scratch.

How do I stop the console from reporting errors on an application I have already deleted?

Hi, I'm somewhat new at using macbook pros. My macbook pro runs snow leoperd 10.6.8. I just recently learned that console is a good way to check on what your computer is doing so i went in checked on it. I noticed that a program i recently deleted called teamviewer was logged A TON. There had to have been thousands of logs. I had thought that I completely removed this application but it is constantly logging logs that look like this:

I would like to stop my macbook pro from doing whatever it is doing but I can't really understand technical talk so I have no idea what to do. How do I stop my computer from doing whatever this is and completely delete teamviewer off of my computer?

Sounds like you deleted the TeamViewer application, but did not uninstall the software, using whatever uninstaller is provided.
In this case, it looks like you still have a LaunchAgent installed. In the Finder, choose Go -> Go to Folder and enter the following path:
~/Library/LaunchAgents
In that folder, delete anything that has TeamViewer in the name. If you don't see anything there, try looking in this folder instead:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
After deleting from either of those locations, restart your computer.

How to find the code in standard transaction from where event is trigered

I have a configuration in SWEC, to trigger an event, when a PR is change
For the Transaction ME52 (Change Purchase requisition), I want to go to the portion of the code, from where the function module for triggering the event is executed.
I have learnt that F.Ms for trigerring events programatically are
1. SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
2. SWE_EVENT_CREATE_IN_UPD_TASK.
3. SWE_EVENT_CREATE_FOR_UPD_TASK
So, I tried debugging the transaction ME52 by setting breakpoints at the following function modules.
1. SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
2. SWE_EVENT_CREATE_IN_UPD_TASK.
3. SWE_EVENT_CREATE_FOR_UPD_TASK.
But none of these were encountered.

Why not follow the reverse approach! First check the event getting triggered and then move backwards to the source of triggering the event.
Activate event trace from SWELS and then check the event getting triggered in SWEL.
I doubt if putting break-points in the FM would help...
Check if the event is being triggered by the BO method.
You can check the where-used list of the method and find out the source of the event triggering.

how do i make it so iTunes plays the music files from where i have chosen to store them as opposed to it scattering copies of my files into a myriad different folders based on the albums they came from when i'm not even interested in keeping whole albums?
I recently converted myself to mac after having been a windows formatted person since the beginning of time. I use last.fm and the client scrobbler only supports iTunes on the mac (scobbling since Nov 06 and i'm now heavily dependant upon it as a means of discovering new music) - if you don't know what that means then take it for granted i have no option other than to use iTunes as my media player whn using the mac. And almost immediately upon using iTunes i was filled with horror.
My tale of woe as follows: I copy all my mp3 files to folder X on my new mac. I copy my simple playlist in to that same folder X. The simple playlist simply lists all the files in folder X in the order i want to hear them in... simple right? And what happens the moment i start playing my simple list? Well you probably all ready know; itunes throws copies of all those files in to the air, scatters them to the four winds so each of them fall into a little folder of their own representing the album they might once have come from. I don't keep whole albums. For me the 'album experience' is a ruse to trick one into listening to weaker material. I only keep the concentrated goodness. I only put up with albums in a previous lifetime because in the days of vinyl i had no other choice apart from spending hours compiling mix tapes. Now i am liberated from these restrictions and have been for the 15 or so years i've been using a computer to listen to music. Until along comes iTunes forcing me backwards in time, frog marching me back into the past.
That simple list i mentioned is my one and only playlist. This single playlist has been evolving for 15 years as tracks are added and removed and their position in the list changes because that song sounds amazing when heard after that other song whereas hearing this song after that song would be like pouring custard over your sausages (for me shuffling is an abomination). And so here is how i've managed this list and managed synchronization of said list and listed files with my mp3 player (currently a Zen).
Adding a new file: After deciding that song is a keeper i will copy it into that simple folder that holds all my music and drop it in to a position on the list i deem most suited for it. Incidentally over this entire 15 year (i'm pretty sure it's been around that long) my media player has been winamp but for the reason previously mentioned i am unable to use winamp in mac world.
Removing a file: fortunately winamp has an option to simultaneously remove a file from the list and the hard drive. And naturally so because after all if i no longer like a song then i want it expunged completely from life or at least from my hard drive and playlist. In the brave new world of iTunes i have to remove from the list there then delete the file from where iTunes copied it from and then the place iTunes copied it to.
Editing the list: drag an item in the list to it's preferred location and select to save it as i would for any other file using any other application... well desktop type application as opposed to one that uses a database as its primary means of storage.
Syncing with the mp3 player: copy drag drop playlist file from the simple folder on the hard drive to the simple folder on the mp3 player as i would for any other file. And then also copy drag drop the most recently created files from simple folder on hard drive to simple folder on player after having ordered them by creation date so as to make it easier to select the most recently created. After a while the mp3 player will fill up with the files no longer on the list so i will delete all files from player then re-copy all flies from simple folder on hard drive to simple folder on mp3 player.
I do not make changes to the list on the mp3 player so synchronization needs only to go one way: from laptop to player.
So all very simple. Apart from editing the positions of files in the list everything is managed by copy drag dropping and deleting files using windows explorer.
But i'm in a mac and circumstances have forced me in to the corner of using iTunes. And this whole iTunes situation is terrifying for me as over the years i've heard horror stories about it deleting all of someone's music files. Perhaps this may have been by using the software incorrectly but even so, the very fact that it appears possible for this to happen simply by using the software incorrectly and the fact that it happens with some degree of frequency given the number of reports of this happening that i have heard of over the years on music discussion forums fills me with dread that i have to now use this software. And given the software's blatant disregard for the user's choice as to where to store his/her files it's no surprise that this happens. The software is pointlessly doing dangerous things with my data. Please make it stop.
Please can i just at the very least make iTunes play the music from the folder i have chosen to put my files in and not copy those files here there and everywhere without my say so? Thankyou.

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. 5 seconds to Paradise: From where InDesign reads the live captions?

After searching a lot in finding the best cross-platform organizer & viewer around, I finally (ALMOST) found it.
It is called XnView MP and it has an ultra-fast thumbnail manager, viewer - it supports a very big number of file formats for thumbnailing/viewing - including InDesign(!) - a top-notch cataloging, the best & fastest batch convert which I could find and... <insert your advertising of choice here>.

However there is a problem:
When we add/edit the metadata for an image (specifically the caption) in its IPTC/XMP editor (Ctrl+I), the text isn't shown with the Live Captions feature of InDesign CS6.
We discuss with the developing team of XnView MP and they are very responsive and want to fix the problem but we don't know (yet) from where InDesign reads its metadata.
Some more technical info to describe the problem:
1. The files are TIFF (LZW packed) files.
2. If we open the file in Photoshop, press Ctrl+Shift+I in order to bring its IPTC editor, the caption entered with XnView shows up correctly in the Description field.
3. If, after the step 2, we close the editor with 'Ok' do a 'Save As' in Photoshop and overwrite the file, the caption will appear correctly in InDesign.
4. If, after the stpe 3, we (re)open the image in XnView MP's IPTC editor the caption is there.
It seems that Photoshop does something behind the scenes and fill the area from where InDesign reads it.
Does someone know from what fields InDesign reads its info for Live Captions?

I don't really have an answer for you - I guess it's up to them to figure it out.
