Lync 2010/2013 - Call Recording with PSTN

I am trying to find out more information about how larger companies use Lync while still recording calls to and from the PSTN. We have a huge need to be able to record specific (not all) calls in an on-demand fashion from the Lync client.
Lync seems to have some strange limitations with what it lets you record.
My issue is that Lync doesn't present options for recording calls to the PSTN unless you convert the call into a conference using some creative "tricks". Has anyone found a better way of doing this so that the user can just select record?  It seems
extremely counter productive to say "hey here's our unified product", but if you need this really basic feature of a phone system you need a third party product. None of the third party products I've looked at actually integrate with Lync
in a way that the user just clicks record or some other option.
This is a major limitation of Lync for us and it is really holding up our ability to adopt Microsoft Lync. Does anyone have some good guidance on the best way to do PSTN recording with the Lync client?

Hi,Shaddie,
Yes,Lync doesn't support PSTN call except in a conferencing call,peer-to-peer call recording only works between Lync clients, and if someone call you via PSTN the call recording will not work, check the following links to have a workaround.

  • Presence status not changed when using Lync 2010 Remote Call Control

    Hello,
I'm currently testing the Remote Call Control functionality of Lync 2010. Call management works fine but I'm surprised that my presence status does not change to "In a Call" when the call is established.
OriginatedEvent, DeliveredEvent and EstablishedEvent are forwarded correctly to Lync Client 2010. All responses are "200 OK".
Is there something more to send to Lync Server 2010 so the status of the Lync Client gets correctly updated to "In a Call" ? Or is a plugin for the Lync Client necessary to achieve this ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Martin

I think there's something missing from your scenario and I don't believe you would need a plugin for this.  It's been forever since I've set up RCC with Lync 2010 however.  I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I've used this product in
the past to configure Lync and RCC with third party PBXs that don't support Lync/RCC but do have a TAPI interface.
http://www.estos.com/products/drivers-middleware/callcontrolgateway400.html I've been able to get a free trial before and it worked like a charm for an old 3COM phone system.  If you can get a trial it might help you compare apples to apples provided
you have a TAPI driver for your PBX.

  • Lync 2010/2013 simultaneous ring\call forwarding not working

    Hello ,
I have Lync server 2010 and 2013 environment .I'm facing some issues with simultaneous ring\call forwarding when  the call initiator is from outside of my organization.
For lync server 2013 ,i tick the option "Enable forward call history ".
For Lync  server 2010 , i enabled  the ReferredBySupported.
but when i checked the log, "history-info " still missing
Lync servers are updated with latest CU. the Gateway is SBC 2000 with sip trunk.
    please advise

Please check if the correct voice policy and pstn usages are assigned to users. you can test if everything is in order using voice test case.
On client collect the tracing logs and see which voice policy user is getting what message the user get when call forwarding / simultanous ring is being tried

  • Lync 2010 Incoming calls are all Anonymous - RCC CUPS

We currently have an integration with Lync 2010 and a Cisco Cups.
Call control and presence are working fine, however it seems the Incoming Caller ID is not being passed to Lync.  We can see the caller id on the Phone, but receive "Anonymous Caller is Calling you" on the Lync Toast.
Any ideas what I can check to troubleshoot this?

    Hi,
Please make sure you have the normalization rule which converts the user's telephone number field from AD into the E.164 format.

  • Silent Monitor and Call record with voice vlan

We are pretty new to CCX, and want to get silent monitor and call recording working. I've read a bunch of troubleshooting docs, and a bunch of the discussions here, but I am still unable to get it to work the way that I want.
Heres the setup. The phones are all set to the recommended settings, and the agent pc is plugged into the phone. The data vlan is 111 and the voice vlan is 222. When I run the nicq prog on the agent pc, it can not find the phone, but I can enter the ip in , and it sees the phone. The supervisor laptop can not monitor or record.
If I change the voice vlan to 111, nicq still can not find the phone, but the supervisor can record and monitor with no problem. Is is an issue with 802.1q and perhaps my nics do not support it?
    CCX Ver:
    8.5.1.11004-25

    Hi
It could be, but it's pretty rare.
Have you enabled 'PC Port Voice VLAN Access' and 'SPAN to PC Port' on the phone?
Have you tried alternate PCs/laptops on the back of that phone?

  • Lync 2010 & 2013 Co-existence, After Moving fileshare clients are prompting for Credentials for RGS

    Hello,
I am in middle of migration from lync 2010 to 2013. At the moment both enviroments are in Co-existense state, Got pools on both enviroments, however all users are moved to 2013 pool already. Also edge has been migrated already to 2013, and it seems to work
    fine (except mobility).
Last Friday I decided to move the lyncshare from old server to new one (both servers were using same lyncshare on old server). I was using this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg195742%28v=ocs.14%29.aspx and all were working pretty fine.
When about hour was passed after last steps, problems started to occur. All clients are asking for credentials to RGS, nowhere else. Entering credentials won't help, prompt appears again. If i cancel the prompt, lync works, but shows error in lower right corner:
Cannot synchronize addressbook (or something similar). Checking connection configuration from client shows that EWS is not deployed, which has been deployed.
I have also checked twice that the permissions are right on lyncshare.
Where should i start to look a solution for the problem ? Seems bit odd that moving a share kinda breaks whole system.

    Hello,
Apparently the problem this time is not the Lync, but Exchange. As we are having Exchange migration on the same domain at the same time, I were troubleshooting the problem more, and found out that Lync Client is configured to use EWS Internal & External
url in "https://server005.domain.local/ews/exchange.asmx" , but when opening the url i receive the followin page:
and syntax is: svcutil.exe "https://server014.domain.local:444/EWS/Services.wsdl" , so If i understood right, the problem is in exchange, not in Lync at the moment.
About errors in FE Event Viewer, There is one error repeating often, have not found a solution yet.

  • Lync Edge 2013 Service Publish With TMG 2010

    Hello Experts,
I have a question for Lync edge and having issue in desktop sharing and program sharing with federated partners if logged in on internal as well as external (internet) network... setup is like below.
TMG with 3 leg architecture ; 1 internal IP, 1 DMZ IP and 4 public IP's (1 for sip access, 1 for web conf, 1 for av and last one for web services)
edge pool with 1 edge server having 2 NIC and 1 Intenal IP and 3 DMZ IP on second NIC ( GW for DMZ  is IP of TMG DMZ NIC card)
    No Firewall.
so if all NAT rules and firewall rules configured properly on TMG should have any issue for desktop sharing/program sharing with federated partners. However some partners are working fine? Is desktop sharing / program sharing go through edge always for federated
    partners?
Any information would be very helpful.
    Many Thanks,
    Ankur

    Hello Ankur,
Desktop Sharing use the AV link to work. I already had some issues with TMG, check this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee796231.aspx
After deployed ARR to lync , I don't have more problems. Try this.

  • Lync Server 2013 calls lost or cannot be retrieved when put on hold.

Out of the blue last week calls on our Lync server started dropping or getting stuck when placing them on hold. This is calls that come from the PSTN into our server. Looking at some call traces, I can see that the INVITE request to put the call on hold
to the gateway looks about right with an SDP attribute of a=sendonly. The issue seems to be that the SIP/2.0 200 OK response from the gateway is lacking the SDP response attribute of a=recvonly. It also looks as if it the gateway is not recognizing the first
session and trying to create a second session. If we are lucky that the call is not dropped after the initial invite/response, we can then press hold/resume and the call will finally get picked up. I'm pointing my finger at the gateway on this one. The gateway
is provided from our ISP and we connect directly to it. Any other Ideas on why a call would do this with the gateway? Appreciate any insight.

    Hi,
Please check if there is any error message from Mediation Server.
From Lync Server side, please double check normalization rule. If the normalization rule not set suitably, it may cause call fail.
    Please check the network situation.
Also, you need to check the configuration on gateway.

  • [2010-2013] Managing workbooks with many sheets

    Hello,
I created a business plan generator that can handle a large number of products.
When I run the macro execution, a spreadsheet is generated for each product.
So, when I have a lot of products, the tabbed interface at the bottom of the workbook is not practical.
Is it possible to display the tabs in a list view, a menu bar like the Plan mode word?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,

    Re:  many tabs
There is a built-in list box containing tab names; accessed by right-clicking the horizontal arrows at the bottom left of the Excel window.
(note:  xl2013 may have been "improved")
That listbox can be activated using code with...
    Sub ShowMeTheTabs()
    '    Application.CommandBars("Workbook Tabs").Controls("More Sheets...").Execute
    '    If Err.Number > 0 Then Application.CommandBars("Workbook Tabs").ShowPopup
    '-OR-

  • Lync 2013 Mobility in coexistense with Lync 2010

    Hi
I am facing Issue when connecting my internal mobile client with Lync Server 2013. The Mobile Client doesn't sign in to Lync Server 2013.
Currently we are in co-existence phase with Lync 2010.
There was no mobility service configured or installed in Lync 2010 environment before when we deployed Lync Server 2013 Enterprise pool with only one front end server.
The SRV record _sipinternalts is currently pointing to Lync server 2010 pool and the lyncdiscoverinternal.domain.com is point to the IP of Lync Front End Server.
Is it necessary to configure and deploy mobility service on Lync 2010 front end server in order to allow Lync Server 2013 users to connect using mobile client??

    Hi Abdullah Salam,
For WP8 root certificates need to have HTTP URLs in the CRL (Certificate Revocation List). If root certs doesn’t contain these CRL attributes than the certificate won’t be accepted by WP8
    and sign-in would fail.

  • Lync Phone Edition coexistance with lync 2010 and 2013

    Hi Everyone
I am currently planning a coexistent network between Lync 2010 and 2013 as I need to get 2013 out urgently. My question is around the Lync phone edition and how to get the phone to find the front end to register the phone to depending on which lync
pool the user is configured to use. Right now all phones are configured with DHCP and are configured to use the 2010 front end server to get its cert provisioned. I also use the HP 4110 and 4120 phones in the office.
How should I configure DHCP so that I do not cut my user off if they are moved the 2013 pool?
    Many Thanks

  • Phone edition Aries Polycom CX600 coexistence - Lync 2010 and 2013

    Hi all,
Currently busy with a Lync 2010 > 2013 migration where Aries Lync phones like Polycom CX 600 (using a blend of USB tethering, PIN authentication as well as common area phones) are involved. Phones have a blend of different CU releases ranging from .4066
    (CU5) to .4451 (CU14)
User migration must be done in stages. That’s presenting a challenge in that Lync 2010 and 2013 must coexist for some time, yet providing seamless support for Lync phones.
The normal migration scenario will be based on a site-by-site migration: users are moved from 2010 to 2013, DHCP options for that site are changed to provide relevant Lync phones  the new Lync 2013 pool parameters. HOWEVER, there is a considerable number
of users travelling across sites, and it’s likely occurrence that a user still on 2010 would travel to a site migrated to 2013 (including phones). And the other way round can also occur.
Based on this, my questions are:
    1) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
    2) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
    3) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
    4) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
Also, is there any dependancy on a specific CU version for the sign-in process to succeed? Note all discovery records are strict domain matching compliant.
I was hoping LPE would feature a redirect mechanism like with desktop client but based on the very little specific literature available, that does not seem the case. Any advice would be very welcome.
    thanks all.

  • No coexistence, Totally decom Lync 2010, then install Lync 2013

I have went through decomming Lync 2010 Enterprise on prem with the desire to go to Lync 2013 Hosted Multi-Tenancy, using the same domain.
So, as you can imagine doing this in a test env. (mirroring the prod env.) I have uninstalled Lync 2010, followed all best practices, made sure ADSI ref. were gone to Lync 2010 (to my knowledge).
Now that I have uninstalled the last Lync 2010 boxes, Installed Lync 2013 on the first frontend server, fired up the setup and went through the topology builder wizards, and after filling out Edge server pools, etc, I have a topology showing Lync 2010 and
2013. Is that correct? This is my first time installing 2013 Lync. Is Lync 2010 supposed to be showing in the topology?
Maybe this is normal for 2013, maybe this doesnt matter for me to continue. I'd just like to cleanly get rid of any 2013 references or leftovers.

    Hi,
