Lync 2010 & 2013 Co-existence, After Moving fileshare clients are prompting for Credentials for RGS
Hello,
I am in middle of migration from lync 2010 to 2013. At the moment both enviroments are in Co-existense state, Got pools on both enviroments, however all users are moved to 2013 pool already. Also edge has been migrated already to 2013, and it seems to work
fine (except mobility).
Last Friday I decided to move the lyncshare from old server to new one (both servers were using same lyncshare on old server). I was using this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg195742%28v=ocs.14%29.aspx and all were working pretty fine.
When about hour was passed after last steps, problems started to occur. All clients are asking for credentials to RGS, nowhere else. Entering credentials won't help, prompt appears again. If i cancel the prompt, lync works, but shows error in lower right corner:
Cannot synchronize addressbook (or something similar). Checking connection configuration from client shows that EWS is not deployed, which has been deployed.
I have also checked twice that the permissions are right on lyncshare.
Where should i start to look a solution for the problem ? Seems bit odd that moving a share kinda breaks whole system.
Hello,
Apparently the problem this time is not the Lync, but Exchange. As we are having Exchange migration on the same domain at the same time, I were troubleshooting the problem more, and found out that Lync Client is configured to use EWS Internal & External
url in "https://server005.domain.local/ews/exchange.asmx" , but when opening the url i receive the followin page:
and syntax is: svcutil.exe "https://server014.domain.local:444/EWS/Services.wsdl" , so If i understood right, the problem is in exchange, not in Lync at the moment.
About errors in FE Event Viewer, There is one error repeating often, have not found a solution yet.
Best Regards

Exchange 2010-2013 co-existence - need for OWA/ActiveSync legacy namespace?
Hi all
Straight to the point: how to I update units that were set up manually with Exchange ActiveSync (pointing to owa.domain.com) with a temporary legacy namespace owa-legacy.domain.com, and then back to owa.domain.com?
Background: I did a test run of migrating a single-server installation from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. As expected, after moving a user's mailbox to the new Exchange 2013 CAS with owa.domain.com still pointing to Exchange 2010, the user
was unable to log in at the Exchange 2010 OWA, and the ActiveSync unit was unable to fetch mail.
So I created a legacy namespace (owa-legacy.domain.com) and set this as the URL on the Exchange 2010 server, and waited for it to populate, then switched owa.domain.com to Exchange 2013. But the URL on ActiveSync units was still pointing to the wrong URL.
What did I overlook or not understand, or am I making migration more complex than needed?
Thanks for reading and best regards
/Maurice

Lync 2013 Clients prompting repeatedly for credentials for calendar data from outlook
Our Exchange server had crashed recently (nothing major) and a reboot of the CAS server resolved the issues. However since then all our domain computers with Lync 2013 clients are prompting for credentials for calendar data from outlook. We would but in
our domain credentials but it still asks. It would sometime ask once a day or sometimes repeatedly throughout the day.
I have look on the forums and tried fixes that included: editing IIS Autodiscover and ESW to use NTLM first , rebuilt lyncs cache in app data etc and none seems to resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Note: Our Lync 2013 environment is internal only. Only users on domain computers can access the service. We do use a proxy server here for internet but I do not believe Lync is going through the proxy since its internal to our network only. This is NOT happing
to our users with the Lync 2010 client. Please update your Lync client with the latest version.

Exchange 2010/2013 co-existence and Lync integration
Hello,
I'm looking at integrating Lync Server 2013 into my lab environment, which consists of a mixed 2010/2013 Exchange environment.
UM - Exchange 2010
CAS - Exchange 2013
MBX - Exchange 2010
MBX - Exchange 2013
I've been reading about associating CAS and MBX servers with UM dial plans, when integrating with Lync.
The Technet articles, and MS Press documentation I've read suggests that
all CAS and MBX servers need to be associated with the dial plan.
Does this include the 2010 MBX servers?
As far as I was aware, in a co-existence environment between 2010/2013 all traffic is proxied to the MBX servers via the CAS 2013 role?
Does this rule still apply when UM and Lync exist in the environment?
Also, does the 2010 UM server need to be associated with the Lync UM dial plan, or does the 2013 CAS server handle this traffic as well?
Thanks
MattSo, just the UM server in 2010 would be associated with the dialplan, you won't even have the option to add a 2010 MBX server.
The traffic isn't proxied by the 2013 CAS, it's more of a redirect, and yes this happens. A lot of what will happen under the hood will be somewhat transparent, Lync will determine where it wants to send the UM traffic. You can
watch this in the Lync logger by watching SIPStack.
The 2010 UM server can be associated with the dial plan, but you might not need it unless you're trying to recreate that specifically in your lab. Exchange 2013 UM can serve mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 server.
I would suggest just deploying it in your lab and watching what happens, that's half the fun. :)

Lync 2010/2013 simultaneous ring\call forwarding not working

Lync 2010/2013 - Call Recording with PSTN
I am trying to find out more information about how larger companies use Lync while still recording calls to and from the PSTN. We have a huge need to be able to record specific (not all) calls in an on-demand fashion from the Lync client.
Lync seems to have some strange limitations with what it lets you record.
My issue is that Lync doesn't present options for recording calls to the PSTN unless you convert the call into a conference using some creative "tricks". Has anyone found a better way of doing this so that the user can just select record? It seems
extremely counter productive to say "hey here's our unified product", but if you need this really basic feature of a phone system you need a third party product. None of the third party products I've looked at actually integrate with Lync
in a way that the user just clicks record or some other option.
This is a major limitation of Lync for us and it is really holding up our ability to adopt Microsoft Lync. Does anyone have some good guidance on the best way to do PSTN recording with the Lync client?Hi,Shaddie,
Yes,Lync doesn't support PSTN call except in a conferencing call,peer-to-peer call recording only works between Lync clients, and if someone call you via PSTN the call recording will not work, check the following links to have a workaround.

Problems with archive mailbox in Outlook, with exchange 2010+2013 co-existence
Hi!
We have an Exchange 2010 environment plus one Exchange 2013 MBX server meant for archive mailbox purpose. (We are going to upgrade to 2013 but with over 20.000 mailboxes it will take som time. Therefore we need to co-exist with primary mbx on 2010 and archive
mbx on 2013 for some time.)
My primary mailbox is on a 2010 MBX server, and I have today given myself an archive mbx on 2013 MBX server.
When I use OWA, both my primary mailbox and my archive shows up and everything works 100% fine!
But when I try Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013, only my primary mailbox works. The archive mailbox shows up, but generates an error when accessing it:
"The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance"
Anyone who knows about this issue? Would we nice to know why it works in OWA but not in Outlook.
Thanks!
Trond JenssenHi,
Please try to recreate a profile to access archieve mailbox.

Hi,
I have Exchange 2010 Running currently in 3 Sites. Now I have to introduce Exchange 2013 CU6 on 4th Site (Same Exchange ORg) and migrate all E2k10 Mailboxes to E2k13.
My Questions is ... What would be the Internal Hostname that I need to mentioned in E2k10 server in Out Look Anywhere ?
Note: I am using Existing OWA & Autodiscover URL which is running for E2k10 server mai.abc.com & Autodiscover.abc.com .
On E2k13 I have set External & Internal URL for Outlook anywhere is mail.abc.com .
I am using E2k10 certificate on E2k13 server as it having same DNS name space mentioned.

You wouldn't need to define an internal host. It can be set to the internal FQDN of the 2010 CAS itself. or set to the same as the external hostname if using split DNS.

Lync Server 2013 droping call after 15 minutes and 32 seconds

Users on the local network can open outlook and it immediately connects and they see their e-mail. After a minute or two a box will popup asking for their password. Even if it is entered correctly it keeps asking over and over. Closing
outlook and re-opening it solves the problem but only for a minute. Remote users using HTTPS over OWA to connect can't get their outlook clients to connect at all. This does not have any effect on ios devices just outlook 2010 and older.I would suggest that some virtual directories configured to use Basic Authentication. EWS, OAB or Autodiscover for instance.
Also check Outlook Anywhere configuration. If it was changed from NTLM to Basic it could cause such credential's prompts.
But if you believe that configuration wasn't changed recently then another possible reason for this behavior could be NTLM bottleneck:

Lync 2013 Mobility in coexistense with Lync 2010
Hi
I am facing Issue when connecting my internal mobile client with Lync Server 2013. The Mobile Client doesn't sign in to Lync Server 2013.
Currently we are in co-existence phase with Lync 2010.
There was no mobility service configured or installed in Lync 2010 environment before when we deployed Lync Server 2013 Enterprise pool with only one front end server.
The SRV record _sipinternalts is currently pointing to Lync server 2010 pool and the lyncdiscoverinternal.domain.com is point to the IP of Lync Front End Server.
Is it necessary to configure and deploy mobility service on Lync 2010 front end server in order to allow Lync Server 2013 users to connect using mobile client??Hi Abdullah Salam,
For WP8 root certificates need to have HTTP URLs in the CRL (Certificate Revocation List). If root certs doesn’t contain these CRL attributes than the certificate won’t be accepted by WP8
and sign-in would fail.
Same cases for your reference.

Phone edition Aries Polycom CX600 coexistence - Lync 2010 and 2013
Hi all,
Currently busy with a Lync 2010 > 2013 migration where Aries Lync phones like Polycom CX 600 (using a blend of USB tethering, PIN authentication as well as common area phones) are involved. Phones have a blend of different CU releases ranging from .4066
(CU5) to .4451 (CU14)
User migration must be done in stages. That’s presenting a challenge in that Lync 2010 and 2013 must coexist for some time, yet providing seamless support for Lync phones.
The normal migration scenario will be based on a site-by-site migration: users are moved from 2010 to 2013, DHCP options for that site are changed to provide relevant Lync phones the new Lync 2013 pool parameters. HOWEVER, there is a considerable number
of users travelling across sites, and it’s likely occurrence that a user still on 2010 would travel to a site migrated to 2013 (including phones). And the other way round can also occur.
Based on this, my questions are:
1) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
2) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
3) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
4) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
Also, is there any dependancy on a specific CU version for the sign-in process to succeed? Note all discovery records are strict domain matching compliant.
I was hoping LPE would feature a redirect mechanism like with desktop client but based on the very little specific literature available, that does not seem the case. Any advice would be very welcome.
thanks all.

Lync Phone Edition coexistance with lync 2010 and 2013
Hi Everyone
I am currently planning a coexistent network between Lync 2010 and 2013 as I need to get 2013 out urgently. My question is around the Lync phone edition and how to get the phone to find the front end to register the phone to depending on which lync
pool the user is configured to use. Right now all phones are configured with DHCP and are configured to use the 2010 front end server to get its cert provisioned. I also use the HP 4110 and 4120 phones in the office.
How should I configure DHCP so that I do not cut my user off if they are moved the 2013 pool?
Many Thanks
