Lync 2010 Voice & Video Support on Windows 2012 R2 SP1 RDSH & RDVH
Hello - We have successfully demonstrated RDSH & RDVH using Windows 2012 R2, Windows 8 virtual desktops and Dell T10 Zero clients. RemoteFX has been successfully tested as well for Printing across RDSH & RDVH environments.
Problem at hand is that we are unable to showcase Lync 2010 Voice & Video calling across both these environments (RDSH & RDVH).
RDSH Environment
In an RDSH environment, we observe that a Platronics headset connected to the Dell T10 thin client is able to get redirected to the RDSH Server using RemoteFX and in-turn the RDSH Server is able to detect the connected hardware. However, the Lync 2010 client,
published using RDSH, is UNABLE to detect the connected audio device.
As for Logitech Webcam connected to the Dell T10 thin client, we have no issues with device detection and the Lync 2010 client is able to see the connected Webcam device.
RDVH Environment (Pooled Desktop)
As for the RDVH environment, we observe that both the Platronics headset & Logitec Webcam connected to the the Dell T10 thin client are UNABLE to get redirected to the RDVH Server using RemoteFX. We have enabled RemoteFX via Group policy in this environment.
Queries:
A. Could you help providing some direction into troubleshooting/isolating the audio-device detection issue on Lync clients in an RDSH environment.
B. Could you help providing some direction into troubleshooting/isolating the audio & webcam re-direction issue in an RDVH environment. FYI, our test bed server does NOT support GPU and wanted to check if that would be a limitation towards detection
of these devices?
Thanks
Srinath

Hi Dharmesh,
Thank you for a response.
We had already enabled Audio and Video playback option.
But when we have tested with windows 7 desktop machine, the audio devices are detecting in Lync client in both RDVH and RDSH
environment and we are able to make audio calls. So we are planning to test with the different thin clients. Post we will update the same.
Thanks.

LYNC 2010 on Supportability on Windows 2012 R2
Is it possible to run Lync server 2010 on Windows server 2012 R2?
Is there any known issues running LYNC 2010 Enterprise pool with Enterprise Voice on Windows 2012 R2 OS?
Any special requirements or issues installing LYNC 2010 on Windows 2012 R2?
We have one pool on Windows 2008 R2, would like to add additional pool with Windows 2012 R2.
Thanks in Advnace

Microsoft does not support this on operating systems that are not listed on this page for Lync 2010. Windows Server 2012 (and R2) are not listed as supported.
There are several new features in Server2012 that are not used in Lync 2010. I would not install 4 year old enterprise software on a platform such as Server 2012 R2. There are enough hoops to jump through with Lync 2013.

Is SharePoint 2010 Supported on Windows 2012 R2
Hi
I have read Trevor Seward's responses to various questions on this subject :-

However, we have a farm which is currently SP2010 SP1 which we are about to upgrade to SP2010 SP2 running on Windows Server 2008R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. So the farm is currently not supported by Microsoft.
We are now looking to upgrade this farm to SP2013 SP1 running Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2012.
We plan to start this process of by upgrading Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2.
Will SharePoint 2010 SP2 run on Windows 2012 R2 (or will we need Windows 2012) ?
Once Server 2012 R2 (or Server 2012) is up and running, we will upgrade SP2010 SP2 to Sp2013 SP1.
Finally upgrade SQL Server 2008R2 to SQL Server 2012.
So the part I don't know is will SharePoint 2010 SP2 run on Windows 2012 R2 or Windows 2012 ?
Thanks

LYNC 2010 hybrid deployment support
Hi,
We are currently using Microsoft LYNC 2010 on premise. Which is working fine.
We are thinking of moving to office 365 for exchange etc. As we a partners we receive licenses also for LYNC online. I was wondering we have some users in the UK Maylasia etc, we would like them to use the LYNC online features as we here in Australia are
on the LYNC on premise. We would eventually all be under the same domain.
ie users [email protected] would be the username for office 365 login,
If user A was in Au he would connect to the on premise link
If user is in Uk or not setup to au LYNC server he can login to the online LYNC??
spafcoHi,
Lync server 2010 is not support hybrid deployment. Hybrid deployment will be supported by Lync server 2013.

SAP Support for Windows 2008 R2 SP1
How can I find out if SAP supports Windows 2008 R2 SP1?
We have ECC6 enh4 running on Win2008R2 servers, our admin would like to apply SP1 to these. I'm trying to find documentation to verify SAP Supports SP1. So far I've come up empty.

Standard edition, Enterprise edition, Datacenter edition, and for Itanium-Based Systems edition
Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core is not supported by SAP.

CC vs CS6 video support in Windows
Hi all;
I searched the FAQs because this question must have been posed before, but I found nothing.
I do File > New > Film & Video etc.
I do Add Media and want to add a MOV.
CC refuses because 'video is not supported in this Windows version' (7).
No problem in CS6 CC though...
Thanks,
MaartenI also notice that file I rendered frame size was smaller then the input clip. So I just dropped the video clip onto Photoshop it had the original 720P frame size 1280 x 720 at 24FPS so I rendered that out as 1280 x 720 @ 24FPS file size grew even more 22MB to 49MB.
If It plays the codec must be installed on your system. You can see which codecs are installed on your system from Windows Media Player use menu Help>About Windows Media Player and then clicking on the support info link -

Install Exchange 2010 Sp3 on Windows 2012 R2
Dear All,
From Microsoft Exchange support matrix, I can tell that Exchange 2010 Sp3 is not listed on supported page. However when I run the setup, the prerequisite setup check, dose not list any warnings or issues with the setup, all check are green. Is it possible
that the support OS matrix has not been updated? Is Exchange 2010 Sp3 supported on Windows 2012 R2?
http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2013/09/17/exchange-support-for-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx
Thank youThe prerequisite check is checking that the required Windows components are installed. Exchange 2010 is still not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Installation of Exchange 2010 in Windows 2012 Server
Hi all,
We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, Need some help on installation and Support of Exchange 2010 in Windows 2012 Server, as per the
https://technet.microsoft.com/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx Exchange 2010 with sp3 is supported in Windows 2012 but I am unable to find the installer of Ex 2010 with sp3
in web even in MSDN. There is only Ex 2010 with Sp1 available. I know that after installing ex2010 with sp1 version, I can install sp3 later but I found one link
http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000785.htm where it is mentioned that insllation can be done only after doing the registry settings.
So is any one who has installed Ex 2010 in Windows 2012 Server and faced this issue and any solution.
Thanks
Mukesh
Mukesh BishtYou can easily install Exchange 2010 (SP3) on Windows Server 2012. If you are working with previous SP version’s you can easily upgrade after installing server. And registry settings
are used to fix an error which may occur during migration, so it is not mandatory to correct registry settings each time during migration.
You can find detailed information about installing Exchange 2010 (SP3) on Windows Server 2012 at this blog :http://oxfordsbsguy.com/2013/03/24/how-to-install-exchange-2010-sp3-on-windows-server-2012/ -
Installing Oracle Fusion Middleware (Forms/Reports) 11g on windows 2012 x64
Hi All,
I'm planning to install oracle fusion middleware 11g (forms/reports) on windows 2012 64 bit.
Once i started the installation of weblog server 10.3.6 it went fine without any error at this stage.
In second stage i tried to configure it, but in the configuration process "*Creating Domain*" is getting failed.

SyedHi,
1)As per certification matrix Forms and Reports 11.1.1.7.0 is supported on Windows 2012.
So in order to install Forms and Reports you need to first install the Forms and Reports software binaries then need to run the config.sh command from %ORACLE_HOME%/bin.
No need to create any domain using the config.sh from Weblogic home.
2)Please see if the below prerequisites were met :-
. Assign Proper ip, hostname & domain name
. Entry of ip, host name & domain name in etc/hosts file
. Disable anti-virus if any
. Disable ipv6, a
. Disable Windows Firewall, Windows Update & Windows Management Instrumentation at Service level (services.msc)
. Create 2 folder "tmp" & "Java" for temp, jdk & jre installation. And set the path of installed jdk in Environment Variable

Lync 2010 and Outlook 2013 - not talking!
I have problemns with Lync 2010 with Outlook 2013 under Windows 8.
Conversation History is not being saved.
All the patches are installed.
When I click on "show more in Outlook" it complains the accounts are not the same. I have two exchange accounts configured within the one Outlook profile. I never had this issue under Outlook 2010.
ERROR:
The email address used in your default Outlook profile is different from the sign-in address used in Lync 2010.
Change your default Outlook profile to match the sign-in address you are using in Lync, and then sign out and sign back in to Lync.
My default account is the same as my Lync sign-in name.
I have tried everything.Mate,
There is no issue on conversation history save option, when I use Outlook 2010.
The issue only to Outlook 2013 with Lync 2010? Two observations;
=> Save IM in outlook ( greyed out ) - Lync 2010 client
=> When I check Lync config information - MAPI is not installed - Lync 2010 client
Could you advice. -
Cross forest Windows 2008 to Windows 2012 R2 migration... no ADMT?
I was planning on using ADMT to migrate the users and PCs from an existing Windows 2008 domain to a Windows 2012 R2 domain but I just read that ADMT is not supported on Windows 2012 R2.
Are there any other suggestions on a migration tool to use?
Kind regards,
/RW/ADMT can still be the way to go - there's a nice blog post here documenting the operation and the BIG consideration with the approach: http://c-nergy.be/blog/?p=3970.
Basically as long as you haven't activated any of the new features found in 2012/2012R2 functional levels, you can temporarily downgrade the forest and domain functional levels so that the system requirements for ADMT can be achieved (a 2008R2 DC in the
target domain for the PES component of ADMT 3.2). A detailed list of features is documented
here. When the migration is done, the functional levels can be set again to their original values.
Complete details about lowering / raising the forest and domain functional levels are here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/850.how-to-revert-back-or-lower-the-active-directory-forest-and-domain-functional-levels-in-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx
The technet pages for the cmdlets referenced in the article point to old versions; the new ones are as follows -
Set-ADForestMode and
Set-ADDomainMode.
Last and not least,
an upgraded version of ADMT has been announced and should be out soon. If the migration can be postponed for a while, this should take care of the downsides of the previously described method. -
Hi All,
Could you tell me whether I can install IDM 7.2 components in Windows 2012 server? Are these two compatible?
Thanks,
Dhiman Paul.According to PAM:
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/pam?hash=s%3Didentity%26filter%3D%26o%3Dmost_viewed%257Cdesc%26st%3Dl%26rpp%3D20%26p…
It looks like IDM 7.2 is supported on Windows 2012 (no mention of R2 support).
And it also looks like SQL 2012 is supported:
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/pam?hash=s%3Didentity%26filter%3D%26o%3Dmost_viewed%257Cdesc%26st%3Dl%26rpp%3D20%26p…
The IDM UI would fall under the Netweaver Java stack, and it looks like even Netweaver 7.4 is now supported for IDM UI. -
Can A Windows 2000 Client Join A Windows 2012 Domain ?
I have set up a Server 2012 VM that I have configured as a DC. The desktop environment consists of Windows 7, Windows XP and a few Windows 2000 machines. All desktops can JOIN the 2012 domain, but when I try to add domain users to any of the
Windows 2000 (SP4) workstations, it fails with the error "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed".
Unjoining the workstation from the domain (or going into ADUC and deleting the Win 2000 computer from the domain) and trying again yields the same result. I do not have this problem when the Windows 2000 machines are joined to a Server 2008 R2 domain.
At this point, I'm leaning towards setting it up as a 2008 R2 DC, and moving to a 2012 DC once we have weaned ourselves off of the Windows 2000 desktops. Is there any hope of getting things to work with a 2012 DC from the start ?Hi,
Based on my research, Windows 2000 client is not supported for Windows 2012 DC.
Windows client and Windows Server operating systems that are supported to join Windows Server 2012 domains
The following Windows client and Windows Server operating systems are supported for domain member computers with domain controllers that run Windows Server 2012:
Client operating systems: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP
Computers that run Windows 8 are also able to join domains that have domain controllers that run earlier version of Windows Server, including Windows Server 2003 or later. In this case however, some Windows 8 features may require additional configuration or
may not be available. For more information about those features and other recommendations for managing Windows 8 clients in downlevel domains, see
Running Windows 8 member computers in Windows Server 2003 domains.
Server operating systems: Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003
