Lync 2013 + clear "Sign-In Address" and disable "Save Password" on shared account

Hello,
We are trying to setup Lync on a few kiosk machines that will have a shared non-admin account.  We'd like to modify Lync to not save the "Sign-In Address" and instead of showing the last persons login credentials, show "[email protected]".
I'd also like to disable the "Save Password" check box.
The kiosks are not on the domain, although the vast majority of our machines are on the domain and we have SSO setup and don't want to mess with how that part of the signin process is working.
Is there a way to modify the login behavior of Lync via GPO or Task Scheduler/Scripts?

Open Control Panel, click Credential Manager.
Remove the credential for Lync account. Then you can enter the password again.
You can uncheck save my password, the related registry key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\SavePassword.
But this registry can be modified by Lync users, you can’t disable it.

    I am working on deploying the Lync 2013 Multitenant hosting pack in a staging environment for testing with the eventual goal of putting this into a production environment. So far I am working with a single front-end server routed through an F5 load balancer

    The issue I'm having is during the sign-in process. I have provisioned a tenant and a user within that tenant and I am able to use the Get-CsTenant and Get-CsUser commands to view the tenant and user. I have also established the following DNS entries for
    the tenant.
    A record: lync.<hosting domain> - Pointed to the public IP address for the Lync application through our F5.
    A record: lyncpool01.<hosting domain> - Pointed to the public IP address for the Lync application through our F5.
    SRV record: _sip._tls.<tenant domain> (priority 0, weight 0, port 443) - Pointed to lync.<hosting domain>
    SRV record: _sipfederationtls._tcp.<tenant domain> (priority 0, weight 0, port 5061) - Pointed to lync.<hosting domain>
    When I attempt to sign in to my test user externally using the Lync 2013 desktop client, I do get a certificate warning on the client that lync.<hosting domain> (cert is lyncpool01.<hosting domain>) is attempting to handle the request, but when
    I accept the cert, the client waits for about 30 seconds and then gives the error "Lync couldn't find a Lync Server for <tenant domain>. There might be an issue with the Domain Name System (DNS) configuration for your domain. Please contact your
    support team.". I can't figure out where this is falling apart or what name the Lync client is attempting to reach, and enabling event logging for Lync has revealed no helpful information.
    Is there any assistance you can give?

    Agree with PaulB_NZ.
    As Lync 2013 Multitenant only have external and federation users, you need to deploy Edge Server in the DMZ zone to support external and federation access.
    What's more, if you want to use Lync mobile clients you also need to deploy a Reverse Proxy in the DMZ zone.

    This explains how to change your ID: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621.  After changing your ID you will need to go to Settings>iCloud, delete the existing account (which only deletes it from your device, not from iCloud), then sign back in with the new ID.  To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll before deleting the existing account.
    If you are signed into your account on your Mac, you will need to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the new ID.

    Here is a procedure that should help.
    1. Go to "Settings"
    2. Go to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
    3. Click the account you don't want anymore
    4. Go to the bottom and click "Delete Account"
    5. Confirm the deletion
    6. Go back to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" (if you're not there already)
    7. Add your new account

    Content is permanently tied to the account it is acquired with.
    Apple ID's cannot be deleted.
    Simply sign out of the undesired account and stop using it.  Sign in with the desired account.

    Hi,
    The error message indicate the client is having an issue authenticating with Lync Server 2013. Please double check that Authentication Delegation is verified on the reverse proxy publishing rule configuration.
    Client may authenticate directly. If the reverse proxy publishing rules are set to No delegate and client cannot authenticate directly, it fails to sign-in when it reaches the step to provide credentials to request a token after MEX retrieval.

    Lync 2013 no longer has its own installer, but instead uses the Office installer.  You can create a customized installation and deploy it just like you do with Office:

    If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
    If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

    Yes the users must comply but the feature is there within the product and does not work. It is a security rule that governs the use of passwords to ensure the password is not saved within the configuration.
    Yes a "switch" can be undone but not if the user is unable to modify the configuration file or location of the installation files due to Group Policy thus negating this point.
    Yes other applications are available, but no one in our oganisation can install non-standard applications anyway therefore negating this point too.
    Summarized - This feature I believe was available in much earlier product releases and did in fact work.
    I am still allowing our user base to run the application but need to obtain security level clearance to allow a delay in the application deployment that actually allows the functionality to work as designed.

  • Lync 2013 client Microphone auto Gain and video aspect ratio settings

    I can't disable the auto microphone gain which seems to be regulated by the Lync client.
    When having a meeting with video for instance, the microphone of the listening partner (side b) will keep on increasing the microphone gain, until it is on its maximum, because the listening partner is listening and does not make any noise.
    When someone on the other side of the room on side b is having a conversation with someone else, the mic gain keeps increasing till side a can follow that conversation, the mic is very sensitive.
    This can not be, there is no way to disable the gain in the Lync client, I've tried to disable the right of a program to take exclusive right of the device, without succes.
    Why did Microsoft didn't think about this, we need an advanced settings menu where things can be shaped.
    Not only the microphone gain is a problem, also the way the video is presented, there is no way to set an aspect ratio, if i'm having a 16:9 screen the video is chopped at the bottem and top of the video of the sending partner, so i'm unable to see the whole
    room of the sending side, which is there cause the cam can provide me a nice overview of the side when viewing the local cam at that side, but not with Lync.
    We are in an evaluation of Lync, but really getting annoyed by these short comings, in my opinion some basic settings which should be in lync from start. We can not sell these short comings to our employees.
    Maybe i'm looking in the wrong direction, if so, please tell me.

  • Lync 2013 - Generate CSR with EKU and additional SANs?

    Hi,
    I'm in the middle of setting up both an Edge server and Reverse Proxy (Which will be on an F5 appliance). According to
    this article, I have to generate the CSR using powershell to retain interoperability with AOL. After reading
    this article it looks like I can use the same cert on both the Edge and Reverse Proxy, so long as I specify all the SANs in the CSR.
    The problem is, I can't figure out how to generate the CSR in powershell and add additional SANs, like I can in the GUI. But I can't use the GUI because it won't add the client EKU needed for AOL. What's the syntax to add additional SANs via powershell?
    I have read that using powershell will inherit the SAN configuration, but I have found no way to confirm what SANs it is actually requesting, since the CSR is encrypted text.
    EDIT: I should add that our org already has an existing wildcard certificate that we use for other sites, but its SN is *.domain.com (which I believe is not supported) and does not have the additional needed SANs. I assume that this cert cannot be used but
    please let me know if I'm mistaken.

    Depending on how many of these clients you have will dictate your solution. If you don't have many then you can simply install the Cert chain manually on each PC in the Local Computer > Trusted Root Certificate Authority store.
    If you have tons though you are possibly best getting a public cert which covers your internal namespace also.
    So as long as you are not using some internal name like .local or .internal and you are using the same namespace as your public domain then you are ok.
    You would however need to specify the names you would be using on your reverse proxy server for meetings and dialin and lync discover for mobility on this cert which may be costly!!!!
    So your cert would then have the following for example:
    Subject name:
    sip.mydomain.com
    SAN:
    sip.mydomain.com
    mydomain.com
    lyncfe01.mydomain.com -- INTERNAL Front End Server Name(s)
    lyncpool.mydomain.com -- (If using Enterprise Edition)
    meet.mydomain.com -- Internal users will require this for connecting to the meeting from internally, unless you are forcing them out and back in through your reverse proxy server.
    dialin.mydomain.com -- As above for meet
    lyncdiscover.mydomain.com
    etc.....
    To be honest, if it was me then i would go with manually installing the cert (or use SSCM or whatever you use for client management if possible)

    Peer to peer or 1-on-1 chatting send the audio peer to peer (not through the server).  When you add another participant, the audio then flows through an A/V Conferencing Server (assuming you're running 2010 server per the forum you posed in, this is
    often the same as your front end pool).  This sounds like a port restriction or connectivity issue.
