Lync 2013 installation on 2003 domain with 32bit DC

I am currently installing Lync 2013 into a 2003 domain. I only have 32bit DC so i am wondering if the AD Prep will work with the Lync install on server 2012?

Hi,
You can deploy Lync Server 2010 in a forest or domain where domain controllers run 32-bit versions of some operating systems (for details, see Active Directory Infrastructure Requirements). However, you cannot use the Lync Server Deployment Wizard to run
schema, forest, and domain preparation in these environments because the Deployment Wizard and supporting files are 64-bit only. Instead, you can use ldifde.exe and the associated .ldf files on a 32-bit domain controller to prepare the schema, forest and domain.

  • Lync 2013 installation problem - dll file missing

    Hi,
I've encountered this problem with Lync 2013 installation on 2 different computers.
    Error message:
    "perfboost.exe - System Error
The program can't start because appvisvsubsystems32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
The first time i got this error was while installing Lync 2013 (32-bit ver.) for a user with an E1 Office 365 plan and an Office 2013 Home and Business suite installed (32-bit version) on a 64-bit Win 7 Pro machine. The installation completed despite the
error message but Lync could not connect to the server saying that "the server for
domain.eu cannot be found". I tried the manual configuration with the same result. I'm confident it's not a DNS problem as other users within the same domain are using Lync 2013 with no connectivity issues.
The second time I got the error was when installing Lync 2013 on a new machine, also with Office 2013 H&B 32-bit and Lync 2013 32-bit downloaded from the user's Office 365 account (also plan E1). The installation also completed but I had no problems
logging the user in (it's another user, same domain)
Anyone has a clue about this? Should I install the 64-bit Lync version instead? Would it conflict with the 32-bit Office 2013?
    Thanks.
    Luka

    Hi Teklace,

  • Lync 2013 Clients in Child Domain Log "The server returned HTTP status code '403 (0x193)' with text 'Forbidden'."

Hey All, I am really stumped on this one.
Environment - Is using split DNS
Forest Root Domain - Contains new Lync 2013 Server Standard, ADDS, DNS, Enterprise CA, Workstations
Clients in this domain connect and work beautifully. No errors.
Child Domain - ADDS, DNS, Workstation, Lync 2013 client
Client autodiscovers, and then asks for a password. Enter the password and this comes up...
Can't sign in to Lync, You didnt get signed in, It might be your sign-in address or logon credentials..  blah blah blah"
    Client log shows
    Error:
There was an error communicating with the endpoint at 'https://domainlync13srv.Domain.net/WebTicket/WebTicketService.svc'.
The server returned HTTP status code '403 (0x193)' with text 'Forbidden'.
The server understood the request, but cannot fulfill it.
As far as i can tell certificates are correctly configured with all the SAN's possible in my forest. The user is correctly set up in Lync control panel. Autodiscovery seems to be working as it should. EWS is working correctly.
Repaired client, removed cached creds, has all lync 2013 updates no dice
    Thank you all!

    I am an IDIOT.
I did not prepare the child domain with the LYNC setup tool. Logged on to a file server in the child domain with domain admin rights and sure enough the setup said the domain was "partial". Ran the setup and bam it all started working.

  • Lync 2013 OCT deployment on machines with Office 2010. Installation Failure

    Hi,
In our environment, we have Win7, Office 2010 x86. (no plans to upgrade all of Office to 2013 as yet)
I'm trying to deploy Lync 2013 x86, and have packaged an MSP using "setup /admin" for later deployment via SCCM.
Now I know there are no problems running Lync 2013 with Office 2010 as it works fine if you manually install.
Strange thing is, when I try running the setup with MSP for silent install, it runs silent and all looks well although all the Office Tools shortcuts are created and there are files under the Program Files folders for Office\15.0 as expected
but not Lync itself. ie: no lync.exe file or shortcuts.
Reviewing the setup log doesn't show any obvious errors that I can tell.
Also after this, if I go through the "Add/Remove Components" under Uninstall Programs\Lync 2013, and I can see in there that it DOES already show Lync as being installed, if I just click continue, it runs through the setup process and
    then Lync will be installed
I've also tried this same process using the Full "Office Pro Plus 2013" and only select Lync to install and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else come across this issue or could point me in the right direction.
For the OCT (setup.exe /admin) the only settings I've changed from defaults are:
    - Filled in the Organisation name
    - Set KMS licensing, display level to none and suppress modal
    - some regkeys for some default settings for GalDownloadInitialDelay, ShownFirstRunOptin
    - Force on Lync (Run from My Computer)
I'm running "setup.exe /adminfile Lync_x86.MSP" in my case to test this MSP.

I had the same issue. As soon as I updated to the latest Admin admx/opal files, it worked great.
    Cheers,
    JeffCSP

  • Lync 2013 credentials problems on domain computers

    Hi folks,
We are having trouble with Lync 2013 and credentials on our domain computers. We have been using Office 365 and Outlook for our email for a couple years and it has worked well enough, so recently we decided we wanted to start using Lync as well. We deployed
the Office 365 Pro Plus suite available to us through our Office 365 subscription and signed in. The first sign-in went as expected. It asked for a username and password, asks if it should remember those credentials for next sign-in (yes), then connects and
everything with Lync itself functioned normally. Subsequent sign-ins have not been normal.
When a user restarts their computer and launches Lync it remembers their user name but not their password. Once they type their password in it asks if it should remember those credentials for next sign-in again, then connects. If a user exits and re-launches
Lync without restarting it remembers their credentials and signs in properly, but then immediately a popup box appears saying that "Credentials are required" in order for Lync to get calendar information from Outlook ( http://i.imgur.com/hqcK426.png
We know the problem is only happening with computers on our domain, but we don't know why. I tested things out on my home desktop and network by installing Office 365 Pro Plus, setting up Outlook, and then Lync. Both Outlook and Lync auto-discovered everything
normally after getting my credentials and Lync behaves as expected every time the program launches. I then brought my personal laptop in and tried the same thing on my work network to see if it is network related, but Lync behaves normally on that computer
    as well.
I originally worked on the problem at the Office 365 Community Forums ( http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/166/t/246014.aspx ), but after we isolated the problem to something with the domain computes I was told that they could not help me any further
and was referred here. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is keeping Lync from behaving properly on our domain computers? We have a mix of Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64 computers, all joined to the same domain and with the same basic suite of software.
    Thanks,
    ~Misharum
PS: How do I verify my account? The outlook.com email address has been verified, but I don't see anywhere to do verification in my TechNet profile here.

Yeah, the clients are fully patched. I put a support ticket in through Office 365 and the rep there was able to help me. It ended up being two separate problems.
Lync was not remembering my credentials to automatically log me in between restarts:
Installed the latest version of the Microsoft Online Services Sign-In Assistant.
After signing signing into Lync another popup appeared asking for credentials again to access calendar information. (two steps to solve this one).
In Active Directory Users and Computers, open up the properties of each affected user, go to the Attribute Editor tab, find and double click the proxyAddress attribute, and add in
sip:[email protected] where the userid is the user's login name and domain.com is your domain. I'd imagine this is scriptable in PowerShell but I don't know enough to do it.
Then on the computer that the users will be using, while the user is logged in, add a dword of NoDomainUser = 1 in the registry at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity. The most sensible way to do this in my mind is with a group policy so
it will get written to each user's registry under their profile when they log in.
After doing all of this Lync remembered my credentials between restarts, signed me in automatically, and only gave that credentials popup on the first sign-in after applying both changes in step 2.

  • Lync 2013 and Raising Forest/Domain Functional Level?

My current forest and domain functional levels are 2008 R2. I know I can safely upgrade the functional levels in most cases, but I want to specifically know with regards to Lync.
Our entire environment, including Lync, is running on Windows Server 2012 R2. (We have no domain joined clients.) We are running Lync 2013 Standard with all the latest updates.
Can I safely raise the forest and domain functional levels to 2012 R2 without impacting Lync?

    Hi,
Yes, you can raise Forest and domain function level to Windows Server 2012 R2 without issue.
After raising Forest\domain function level, the new features that rely on the functional level are generally limited to AD itself. Regardless, changing the Domain or Forest Functional Level should have no impact on an application that depends on
    Active Directory.

  • Lync 2013 client deployment via SCCM with silent uninstall of Communicator / Live Meeting / Plugin

    Hi
We are rolling out Lync 2013 across our org to many remote sites and are wondering the best approach for this.
We hope to leverage our SCCM, but so far we've only been installing Lync manually in our local test group.
I noticed that when installing Lync, it doesn't remove Communicator, Live Meeting, or the Live Meeting plugin for Outlook though.
Ideally, we would want to be able to push Lync 2013 client (standalone version, not Office 2013 Suite) via SCCM as well as uninstall Communicator 2007 R2, Live Meeting 2007 and Conferencing Add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook, all silently. Whether this
can be done while the user is logged in and using Outlook/Communicator, I am unsure (probably not), so doing this overnight with users logged off but machines on would probably work best.
Is there any documentation / guides from MS or other blog sites that have gone through this same process? From the searching I've done, it doesn't seem to be too common for a large deployment / jump from OCS 2007 to Lync 2013 on-premise.

    Hi,
refer to this article it might help

  • Lync 2013 PSTN calling not working with Sonus SBC 1000 over TLS and SRTP

    Dear All,
We have recently installed Lync 2013 Enterprise Edition with a Pool of 3 FE Servers (MEDIATION COLLOCATED).
We need to implement TLS and SRTP with Sonus SBC 1000. However calls are not routing b/w SBC and Lync.
We are using wild card certificate with multiple SIP Domains as SAN(s), for internal FE servers as well SBC.
Also i would like to mentioned here that inbound and outbound calls are routing properly when we tested it over TCP.
When I move to TLS Only calls from Lync to SBC (outgoing) are working without encryption.
Here are the OCS Logger traces for incoming calls which are not landing on lync:

  • Lync 2013 and Sametime Same Domain

Deploying Lync within my Org and unfortunate for us we use sametime.
If the Lync 2013 deployment resides in mycompany.com, and thus is the sip domain. The sametime domain is also mycompany.com as this is historic.
Are there any Gotchas or can these both interact as normal using the XMPP Gateway. If you think of it like
[email protected] on lync talking to
[email protected]   on sametime, I just wondered if there was any conflicts,
Any documents on setup would also be cool.
    thanks

They should be fine independent, but if both need to talk to public XMPP networks, you'll need to pick either Lync or SameTime due to the DNS records for _XMPP-Server._tcp.
If they need to communicate with eachother via XMPP, this would also be difficult because they have the same SIP domain, the routing wouldn't work.  They wouldn't know to send the communications via XMPP if they have the same SIP domain.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Object is corrupted and inconsistent state after Lync 2013 Installation

    Hi Fellows,
I am facing an issue with Exchange 2013 SP1 (5.0.847.32)
environment. I recently installed Lync 2013 (version: 5.0.8308.0) a week ago and just recently start getting the below error when configuring delegation or modifying the users/groups from Exchange Control Panel:
"The Object <object DN> has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:
The access control defines the ObjectType <object guid> that can't be resolved.."
I can see some forum threads with same issue (links given below) but unable to find if this is a known issue and how to get it resolved. Need assistance if anyone has faced same and could help me out to figure it.

    Hi
Usually the affected SID objects are referring to deleted objects.
Use the PsGetSid tool to try to resolve them.

  • Lync 2013 & Active Directory Intra Domain Migrations

    Hi all,
Hopefully this is the correction forum to ask.  Suppose the following scenario
Parent Domain containing Lync 2013 Servers
Child domains consisting of user accounts
It is intended that child domains containing Lync 2013 enabled users be migrated to the parent domain.
    A few questions
Is it possible to migrate user accounts to another domain and configure the migrated (technically new) account to link back to Lync so as to retain contact information?
Or prior to migration have contacts exported so they can be imported into the new Lync 2013 accounts?
    Thanks,

Within a single forest it quite possible to have Lync installed in one domain and User a part of another domain
All we have to do during the Lync server install process run the domain prepaerationn wizard for all the domain weher we shall either have Lync user object or Lync server object
    Please refer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398630.aspx
I believe As long as the user SIP URI Doesn't change you can export the user data information and after the migration if you can import in user information

  • Lync 2013 migraiton from old domain (contoso.local) to new domain (contoso.co.uk)

    Hi Team,
The following is our requirement and environment, please advise.
    Environment 1
    Domain1 : Contoso.local
    Lync 2013 onpremise server
    Environment 2
    >> Created the following domain in New AD environment and built new lync machines.
    Domain 2: Contoso.co.uk
    Lync 2013 onpremise server
    Requirement:
    1. Wanted to move all configuration (DialPlans, VoicePolicy, Users, ResponseGroups, etc) from the old AD to the new AD on the newly built lync machines.
    2. Prepared PowerShell script to get this done.
    3. Plan is to export the configuration to the new servers and import those exported config files on the new machines.
    Question:
    1. Will it work if AD domain is different on each of those servers? Old server has contoso.local and new one has contoso.co.uk.
    2. What are the impacts and will we be able to get this done?

I assume that those are different AD forests?. Even though it's different forest, you can export the Voice routing components, RGS components and import that in to the new setup and it will work fine. For RGS, you need to re assign the agents to the agent
groups after importing to the new server. And also, you can export the buddy list of the users and then import that in to the new Lync server as well upon enabling the users. I have done the same setup just exporting and importing using the Lync control panel.
Not sure what's the script that you're talking about.

  • Lync 2013 installation and problems

I have gone through the entire setup and have a somewhat working installation. Now my problem is that when I sign in two users to the Lync 2013 Basic, they log in fine but it doesn't show any users online.
when I add a contact from my organization, it does match any of the test users that I have setup
Not sure what to check to find out where the issue is

When you say they log in fine, but it doesn't show any users online, do the two Lync basic users see each other's presence?
What do you see when you add a contact from your organization?  Are the test users you created not in the list?  For this I'd suggest running update-csaddressbook from PowerShell on the Lync server, wait 5 minutes, exit Lync (not just sign out,
make sure you've fully exited) and trash the profile by deleting the %userprofile%\appdata\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected] folder.

  • Migrate from Standard 2003 domain with seperate Exchange 2003 to SBS 2011 - possible? how-to?

    Hi there,
I am currently planning on replacing two servers (one server 2003 standard (DC) and one server 2003 standard with exchange 2003) with a single machine running SBS 2011.
I already did several migrations SBS 2003 to SBS 2011, SBS 2008 to SBS 2011 - and I am wondering if the same can be done from 2003 Standard with separate exchange server 2003 to a single SBS 2011. Technically I can see no reason why this shouldn't work -
but so far I have been unsuccessful in finding guidelines or at least some success-stories from other users.
Did anyone do something like that? Any caveats I have to be aware of? Or is it supposed to be flawless as the SBS to SBS migrations I did so far?

    Hi,
From the problem description, I understand that you would like to migrate Exchange server 2003 on Windows Server 2003 to SBS 2011.
At first, I would like to clarify one thing. Microsoft doesn’t have the official documentation towards this scenario. And Microsoft doesn’t
    recommend dealing with that.
I noticed that there are two servers in your organization. One is Windows server 2003 for DC; the other one is Exchange server 2003. So it can’t
be the same as the documentation (Migrate to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard from Windows Small Business Server
    2003).
I got your key point that you would like to know the detailed procedures (HOW TO). I suggest that you could visit the
SBSmigration.com to get further information you need. Since it’s not the Microsoft official method,
please do the test before your put it into your production environment.

    Hello All,
I have Lync 2013 server's configured & everything is working fine. We are doing the A/V Conference meeting by connecting Logitech BCC950 conference cam.
Logitech conferencecam connected in the conference rooms. Now on one user laptop we have connected this logitech cam to the laptop & meeting is started, below below issues are:
    1) In the middle of the meeting device getting automatically disconnected. Tried to manually select the Integrated WebCam but it's not getting detected.
    2) Whenever we connect this Logitech cam it should get automatically selected as default device in Lync 2013 client which is not happnening.
    3) If the Logitech cam disconnect it should get detected Inbuilt Web Cam
Can someone help us to resolve this issue.
    Any help really appreciated

    Hello Logimg1,
Thanks for your reply & we have checked below options:
    1) In the middle of the meeting device getting automatically disconnected. Tried to manually select the Integrated WebCam but it's not getting detected.
LogiMG>  I have not experienced this issue, but could you tell me if the Blue LED in the camera is lit when you experience this disconnect?  It is strange that you can't switch to the Integrated camera.
Anand : Cusotmer faced this issue by I tried to reproduce but I haven't faced this issue.
    2) Whenever we connect this Logitech cam it should get automatically selected as default device in Lync 2013 client which is not happnening.
LogiMG>  Lync remembers the last camera selected and the OK button is pressed.  If you use the 'X' it will not be remembered.  What are the behaviors of the camera at this point?  Do you see it go through the connection sequence?
Anand : First time we need to make as a default device as well as default communication device under Control Panel sound options.
    3) If the Logitech cam disconnect it should get detected Inbuilt Web Cam
LogiMG> What is the state of the LED for either camera?  If it is on, then the camera(s) is streaming video.
Anand : Customers laptop faced this issue, but when I was tried it's selecting Inbuilt Cam
    Thanks
