Lync 2013 Management events.

Hello,
I am looking for information regarding the tracking of Lync Management events. I want to track when a user is added or any setting in the Front End server is changed, a change to a Conferencing Policy, a new Client policy created, etc. The Event
Log in the server does not seem to provide this information, or perhaps I am not looking close enough.
If such level of logging exists I would like to see who made the change and what change was made.
Any direction provided is greatly appreciated, I have not been successful with Google.

Lync 2013 Recording Manager Crashes

Environment Background:
1. Lync 2010 Front-End Pool
2. Workstation running Windows 8 and Lync 2013 Client
I am able to record meetings with my Lync client but when I click stop and go to launch recording manager, the application opens and then hangs. Below is the Error from the event log

I am able to use recording manager on a Windows 7 workstation with the Lync 2013 client without any issues. I have tried a clean boot into windows 8 to clear third party start applications, Uninstalled the lync component of Office, rebooted, reinstalled
component without success.

My problem was with Lync Recording Manager crashing with details in the OP's first post. LRM would crash as soon as it started to process the .mp4 file. Uninstalling Citrix Receiver fixed my crash issue completely.
LRM starts to process the files in
%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\Recording Manager\Temporary Recording Files
and would save them elsewhere when process is complete.
Another issue was that LRM would not for some reason process the files in one of the recording-folders in the above 'Temporary Recording Files' folder. You can get around this by creating a new Lync meeting with yourself, start recording, then stop recording
& exit LRM at about the same time. This will create a new temp folder to be processed by LRM. Delete files in that new folder, and copy files from your old meeting to the newly created folder to kickstart processing for the old files

Cisco Call Manager 8.5 and Lync 2013

Dear all,
Our customer wants to integrate their Lync 2013 to the Cisco Call Manager 8.5.
Out of some not so recent information i thought that if u want to use the enterprise voice of lync you'll have to make a sip trunk between Cisco Call Manager & Lync 2013.
I think that this still counts, i've also heard that there have been a moderate amount of changes between cucm 8.5 and cucm 8.6 on matters of sip.
I'm unable to find them though, also what does CUCI - Lync do?

There can be three types of integrations between Lync and Cisco Systems
1) Direct SIP Trunk between Lync Server and Call Manager - In this, we can setup shared line between Cisco extensions and Lync extensions, and Sip trunk between the servers. Any Cisco phone / Lync client can call each other vice-versa. Initial setup needs planning, but later it does not need much configurations in client side. The following document explains the configurations needed.

2) CUCILYNC, which is like Cisco Jabber client but connects with Lync and Call Manager: Lync Client <----> CUCILYNC <-----> CUCM

How to remove Central Management Server in Lync 2013

I have installed Lync 2013 client (Lync Basic) from the Office 365 download site and installed it on 2 computers. Both are running Windows 8 64-bit (and Office 365 Home Premium) and Lync works fine on one but crashes on startup on the other. I am getting

I don't have Bluetooth or Shoretel on this PC and don't see any VDI, and haven't found anything else in the usual forum posts.
On some other discussions on the Internet, I have seen remarks about renaming the SIP folder or changing log-on credentials, but I didn't find the SIP folder on my PC and I don't know how to change Lync credentials when it won't start.
When I try to start Lync, and it crashes (on startup), Windows offers me the alternative to Debug. When I choose that, I get the Lync client running in the Visual Studio debugger. From the stack trace and the Module window, I can see that Lync is trying
to read address 0x00000000 and failing with 0xc000005 (access denied), and the primary modules involved are the C runtime. I don't see any suspicious components that shouldn't be there.

Please run Lync as Administrator to test if it still crashes:
Search -> Type “Lync” and find your Lync Program -> Right click on it -> Choose “Run as Administrator”

Migration to lync 2013 select central management store - what name should be there?

trying to migration from lync 2010 to lync 2013. populated the topogoly builder and was going to publish.
the name in select central management store has the name of the lync 2010 environment, but if I hit next it has my new sql server.
should the new lync 2013 CMS be listed there?

If you have moved it, you're most likely seeing an old topology, download it again before making changes and publishing. If you download again and still see the old server even though it's moved, I'd re-run through the steps in the article again.

we are planning to integrate Lync 2013 with Avaya Aura Session Manager 6.3 and Avaya
Communication Server 6.3.1 for one of our client.
As per the technical documentation from MS, it shows the integration with lync 2013 with Avaya aura session manager
6.3 and Communication Server 1000 (CS1K).
Please let me know is there any difference between Communication Server
1000 (CS1K) and Avaya Communication Server 6.3.1.

1.Media Bypass, RTCP, and History-Info were set to Enabled.
2.REFER and Session Timer were set to Disabled.
Known Limitations:
1.With Media bypass enabled in Lync, for an incoming call to Lync client that has simultaneous ring to a number with early media enabled, caller will hear ring back instead of the early media.
2.Avaya Aura communication manager does not send disconnect to PSTN via ISDN trunk while receiving SIP 603 response from Mediation server for incoming call to Lync client. Caller will hear overflow tone and call will not disconnect until caller drops the
call.
What’s more, it is better to contact IP-PBX vendor for the installation and set up as they have the complete documentation.

LYNC 2013 Event Logging Parameters for LYNC server logs

We have LYNC server 2013 enterprise voice. We have third party Monitoring server to monitor the event logging.
Do we have default event logging parameters for LYNC Server logs in LYNC 2013?

There's really just the default level of logging for Lync Server Event Logs. For individual call troubleshooting you might use the debug logger, and for longer term troubleshooting you'd deploy the Lync Monitoring role. The monitoring role, service
status, and performance monitor counters are what you really want to be monitoring if you're watching your Enterprise Voice deployment.
If I understand the question, there isn't a way to turn up the amount of logs generated in the Lync event logs or change parameters around this.

I’m able to make lync to lync call via extension number but not lync to avaya extension vice versa and lync to mobile calls. Will appreciate your help.

Managing User Photos with On Premise Lync 2013 & Office 365

Hello, I'm just looking for a little clarity in terms of expected behavior when using the various methods of modifying user images on these systems.
For example, I've read that Lync 2013 can utilize the high resolution photo that is stored within the user's Exchange mailbox. That would work good in theory, but what about Lync users who do not have an Exchange mailbox (or UM voicemail box)? Presumably
in that case you could use one of the AD attributes, thumbnailPhoto or jpegPhoto, the latter being preferred as it allows for higher resolution images. However in my experience, when using the jpegPhoto attribute, dirsync does successfully replicate the photo
and it shows up on the O365 portal, but the on-premise Lync server/clients have inconsistent success displaying them. Some user's can see other user's photos, but they can see eachothers or vice versa and eventually the Lync client stops displaying any of
these photos.
Ideally for us, if we could use the jpegPhoto attribute for all users, as opposed to using exchange attributes for some, that would be best, but is it designed to work this way?

synchronize the photo from
JPEGPhoto attribute, as I know
it only synchronizes the photo from
thumbnailPhoto attribute in Active Directory.
You can see the photo displayed on Office365 portal
because it synchronizes the photo from both the
thumbailphoto and jpegphoto attributes.

Issues with mobility and autodiscovery with Lync 2013 and IIS/ARR

Hi all,
this is my last resort after days and days searching a solution for this problem... unsuccessfully.
All works fine unless the autodiscovery service with external users and the mobility service for both internal and external ones.
I deployed a Standard Edition Lync Server 2013 with:
a consolidated Frontend server in LAN
an Archiving and Monitoring server in LAN
an Edge server in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
a IIS/ARR 2.5 reverse proxy in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
All these roles are on Windows Server 2012 R2.
No split-DNS is deployed since I have different domains for internal and external. In any case I used the pinpoint DNS tip to resolve some records internally (I followed this guide http://tsoorad.blogspot.ch/2012/10/lync-server-dns-pinpoint-zones.html)

I installed and configured IIS/ARR 2.5 with KB2732764 and KB2785586 on Reverse Proxy following the NextHop guide. The local IP address of external NIC on Reverse Proxy is NATTED by a Cisco ASA firewall with public IP address and only 80/443
ports are permitted.
The problems occurs when I try to connect whit my Lync 2013 APP on iPad using autodiscovery service, both internally and externally. After some seconds the APP shows the message “Cannot connect to the server because it could be busy or
temporarily unavailable. Retry.” When I used the IIS/ARR 3.0 the problem looked like an authentication issue, then I came back to ISS/ARR 2.5 version with its KB. Now I cannot understand what is the cause about logfail.
The same behavior occurs with Android Lync 2013 APP and Windows Phone 8 APP.
Moreover my Lync 2013 client on Windows 7 can connect internally with autodiscovery settings but it cannot do it externally.
I'm a bit confused because I cannot understand if the problem is about external webservice of Frontend server or about Reverse Proxy configuration or about Lync Control Panel configuration.

thanks a lot for your reply!
I created _sip._tls.domain-ext.com SRV record in the external DNS and now autodiscovery works fine. At the beginning I had not created it because I thought lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com A record was enough for autodiscovery. I still cannot understand
why lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com points to reverse proxy, while _sip._tls.domain-ext.com points to Edge server. It's strange because both are part of the research order of Lync 2013 desktop clients.
By the way, mobility still does not work. I tried to insert bot the https URLs as manual configuration but Lync 2013 for iPad was not be able to login. I tried to paste both the URLs in the web browser and:
with https://<ExtwebFQDN>/Autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/Root appears the "Root.json" file to be downloaded;
with https://<IntwebFQDN>/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.svc/Root
the message "500-Internal error of server" appears.
Any suggests from you about how to check the configuration of ISS/ARR 2.5?
