Lync 2013 monitoring

Hi All
I have got 2 Queries
1) I have configured Lync backend with the SQL mirroring. By default SQL server has Reportserver database. I have chosen this default report server for Lync monitoring. When i try to configure mirror database as part of Monitoring report Data
source=(local)\Reportserver;Failover Partner=atl-mirror-001\Reportserver;initial
catalog=LcsCDR, i get the following error
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
Database "ReportServer" might contain bulk logged changes that have not been backed up. Take a log backup on the principal database or primary database. Then restore this backup either on the mirror
database to enable database mirroring or on every secondary database to enable you to join it to the availability group. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1475)
Does this error occur because a database exists on the mirror database with the same name ie Reportserver?
2) We have two Lync sites and each lync site will have their own reporting servers. My clients want to get a consolidated report from both the SQL reporting databases. In this case what should the value of
Data source=(local)\Reportserver;<
XXXXX>=atl-mirror-001\Reportserver;initial catalog=LcsCDR

I got to know that i can't use two data source commands Data Source=<host>;Initial Catalog=AdventureWorks;
My idea was to use both OCS and Lync reporting feature clubbed in the same monitoring page.

  • Lync 2013 Monitoring Server - Database reporting

    Hi there,
Im a business intelligence professional rather than a Lync professional so excuse me if my question may show niavete or a clear lack of experience, both would probably be correct.
The basic question is, how does Lync record the relationship between a call being received and the call that is transferred.
Effectively I am looking to see how the monitoring server applies a unique record to a call. This looks like the SessionIdTime field. I also deduce that the 'ReplacesDialogueId' field is used to record when a call effectively replaces another one, and I
have formed a self join on the SessionDetailsView to track a calls progress.
Im struggling though when this relationship is not there. So for example, when a call comes in and is answered by a receptionist, we have the initial call entering the queue, with the call being answered by Reception having a replacedialogId that replaces
the call coming into the queue. Lets say that the receptionist then calls a director to see if they are available, and then transfers the call. There is a relationship between the call being made to the director, and the caller speaking to the director with
the dialogId and replacedialogid fields, though there is no relationship between the receptionist taking the call, and the receptionist calling the director and putting the call through.
Again, please forgive my noobie questions. In summary, how does Lync record the relationship between a call being received and a transferred call.

They are sparse, many of us have written custom reports but I forget what I've done as soon as I've done it.  The Lync 2013 CDR Database Schema is available here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398570.aspx
Typically what I do is just dig in and make test case calls, export the query results to something easy to work with like Excel and reverse engineer what I need for my reports.  Watch the CorrelationID and anything else you can line up.
I'm not aware of any great guides that walk you though this unfortunately.

    Hi,
Did you meet any connect issue between Lync and Exchange Server?
If there is no issue you could find, please check if Lync Server and Exchange Server update to the latest version. If not, update them then check if the error message appear again.

  • Lync 2013, text does not display in chat box. Windows 7 pc with dual monitors.

Has anyone experienced an issue with Lync 2013 where when someone sends a chat the text doesn't display in the chat box. Or on occasion when initiating a chat, the text typed in doesn't display? The person experiencing this
behavior has dual monitors and often times when she is working on a document - then goes to Lync and initiates a chat and types, the words do not display in the chat box. Her graphics drivers are current, (8.15.10.2869). At one point she was able to drag the
chat box over to the monitor on the left and then the text displayed. Since then she has received a brand new laptop, windows 7 and the Lync behavior continues but now her dragging the chat box to other monitor no longer resolve text display issue. Ideas?

    Hi,
Did the issue happen if only use single monitor?
Please update to the latest version for Lync client 2013 and then test again.

  • Unable to configure monitor & report in Lync 2013

We have SQL Server 2012 in our environment. I want to enable monitor report in Lync 2013. i have separate Lync sql instance.
I am trying to configure new database in Reporting Service Configuration manager in report Server database Configuration wizard.
while testing connection getting below error.
could not connect to server:A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to
allow remote connections.(provider:Named Pipes provider,error:40-could not open a connection to SQL Server)
    kindly help to resolve issue.

In my opinion, if you have problem with your firewall, try disabling it and connect. If it doesn't work, means it could be your SQL configuration / enabling of TCP/IP problem.
    Check the below blog:
    http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2009/05/21/sql-server-fix-error-provider-named-pipes-provider-error-40-could-not-open-a-connection-to-sql-server-microsoft-sql-server-error/
If you are able to connect to SQL Server by physically logging on to the server, but unable to connect from a client computer then execute the below to check the SPN.
-- run this command to see if SPN is not found
EXEC xp_readerrorlog 0,1,"could not register the Service Principal Name",Null
If the SPN is not found setup and register an SPN. (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191153(v=sql.110).aspx#Manual)

Health configuration in Lync Server 2013 is built around System Center Operations Manager and the use of Lync Server Management Packs. These Management Packs include a number of new features and enhancements, including:
    Feature
    Description
    Synthetic Transactions
Windows PowerShell cmdlets that can be run from various locations to ensure that end user scenarios such as sign-in, presence, IM, and conferencing are readily available to end users.
    Call Reliability Alerts
Database queries for Call Detail Records (CDR). These records are written by Front End Servers to reflect whether end users were able to connect to a call or why a call was terminated. These queries result in alerts that indicate when a wide range of end
users are experiencing connectivity issues for peer-to-peer calls or basic conferencing functionality.
    Media Quality Alerts
Database queries that look at Quality of Experience (QoE) reports published by clients at the end of each call. These queries result in alerts that pinpoint scenarios where users are likely to be experiencing poor media quality during calls and conferences.
The data is built upon key metrics such as packet latency and loss, metrics that are known to directly contribute to call quality.
    Component Health
Individual server components raise alerts by using event logs and performance counters. These alerts indicate failure conditions that can severely impact one or more end user scenarios. These alerts can also indicate a variety of other failure conditions,
including services not running, high failure rates, high message latency, or connectivity issues.
    Dependency Health
Failures can occur for a variety of external reasons. The management packs now monitor and collect data for some of the critical external dependencies that might indicate severe issues, including IIS availability, CPU and memory usage of servers and processes,
    and disk metrics.

  • Lync 2013 Front End SIP/2.0 500 Compression algorithm refused

I've deployed a brand new Lync 2013 environment hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2 that is currently in co-existence mode with my Lync 2010 environment.
I have SCOM 2012 monitoring the environment and it recently started reporting that one or more of my front end servers
was in a critical state.  Diving into it revealed the following perf counter threshold was being tripped:
    Time Sampled: 3/26/2014 2:33:30 PM

The only recent change made to the front end servers was making the registry change outlined in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2901554/en-us so i'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

The MSFT support person said to re-apply CU5 to the Director servers and reboot.  Since this is impactful to the environment and I would have to do reboots anyway, I opted to go the route of installing the more recent update so....
Last weekend I updated my Lync environment with what I think is considered CU6, the September 2014 updates for Lync 2013 Server (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243) and still no luck. The front
end servers are fine; no excess SIP 500 errors occurring there but within 30 minutes of removing the SCOM override on the Director servers the alerts started firing again.
I reinstated the override in SCOM for the Directors and had my case with Premier support un-archived.  The MSFT support person said if the alerts didn't go away she was going to have to engage the Lync product group for help.  We'll see where it
    goes from here.

  • Issues with mobility and autodiscovery with Lync 2013 and IIS/ARR

    Hi all,
this is my last resort after days and days searching a solution for this problem... unsuccessfully.
All works fine unless the autodiscovery service with external users and the mobility service for both internal and external ones.
I deployed a Standard Edition Lync Server 2013 with:
a consolidated Frontend server in LAN
an Archiving and Monitoring server in LAN
an Edge server in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
a IIS/ARR 2.5 reverse proxy in DMZ with 2 NICs (one in DMZ network and one in LAN)
All these roles are on Windows Server 2012 R2.
No split-DNS is deployed since I have different domains for internal and external. In any case I used the pinpoint DNS tip to resolve some records internally (I followed this guide http://tsoorad.blogspot.ch/2012/10/lync-server-dns-pinpoint-zones.html)
Here DNS records into internal domain:
A-record for meet.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server local IP
A-record for dialin.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server local IP
A-record for lyncdiscoverinternal.domain-ext.com points to Frontend server IP
A-record for lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com points to Frontend sever local IP
A-record for autodiscover.domain-ext.com points to Exchange server local IP
Here DNS records into external domain:
    CNAME-record for lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com points to lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com
    CNAME-record for sipexternal.domain-ext.com points to lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com
A-record for meet.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
A-record for dialin.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
A-record for lyncwebexternal.domain-ext.com points to Reverse Proxy public IP
I installed and configured IIS/ARR 2.5 with KB2732764 and KB2785586 on Reverse Proxy following the NextHop guide. The local IP address of external NIC on Reverse Proxy is NATTED by a Cisco ASA firewall with public IP address and only 80/443
    ports are permitted.
The problems occurs when I try to connect whit my Lync 2013 APP on iPad using autodiscovery service, both internally and externally. After some seconds the APP shows the message “Cannot connect to the server because it could be busy or
temporarily unavailable. Retry.” When I used the IIS/ARR 3.0 the problem looked like an authentication issue, then I came back to ISS/ARR 2.5 version with its KB. Now I cannot understand what is the cause about logfail.
The same behavior occurs with Android Lync 2013 APP and Windows Phone 8 APP.
Moreover my Lync 2013 client on Windows 7 can connect internally with autodiscovery settings but it cannot do it externally.
I'm a bit confused because I cannot understand if the problem is about external webservice of Frontend server or about Reverse Proxy configuration or about Lync Control Panel configuration.
Here is an extracted of iPad Lync 2013 log (sorry if it’s a bit long).
Any helps are very appreciated, thansk a lot!

    Hi Kent,
thanks a lot for your reply!
I created  _sip._tls.domain-ext.com SRV record in the external DNS and now autodiscovery works fine. At the beginning I had not created it because I thought lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com A record was enough for autodiscovery. I still cannot understand
why lyncdiscover.domain-ext.com points to reverse proxy, while _sip._tls.domain-ext.com points to Edge server. It's strange because both are part of the research order of Lync 2013 desktop clients.
By the way, mobility still does not work. I tried to insert bot the https URLs as manual configuration but Lync 2013 for iPad was not be able to login. I tried to paste both the URLs in the web browser and:
    with https://<ExtwebFQDN>/Autodiscover/autodiscoverservice.svc/Root appears the "Root.json" file to be downloaded;
    with https://<IntwebFQDN>/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.svc/Root
the message "500-Internal error of server" appears.
Any suggests from you about how to check the configuration of ISS/ARR 2.5?
    Thanks again!

  • Error during the migration of Lync 2013 onpremise user to Office 365 Lync

    Hi,
I am trying to migrate a Lync 2013 onpremise user to Office 365 Lync in a Hybrid environment.
I am connecting to the Lync server from my machine with the following commands
    $lyncOptions = New-PSSessionOption -SkipRevocationCheck -SkipCACheck -SkipCNCheck
    $lync = New-PSSession -ConnectionUri https://lyncserver/ocspowershell -SessionOption $lyncOptions -Authentication NegotiateWithImplicitCredential
    Import-PSSession $lync
In the next step I am trying to migrate the user to the Office 365 Lync:
    Move-CsUser -Identity "username" -Target 'sipfed.online.lync.com' -HostedMigrationOverrideUrl 'https://admin1e.online.lync.com/HostedMigration/hostedmigrationservice.svc'
After that I get a warning message due to to migration to a previous version which I accept.
WARNING: Moving a user from the current version to an earlier version (or to a service version) can cause data loss.
    Confirm
    Move-CsUser
[Y] Yes  [A] Yes to All  [N] No  [L] No to All  [?] Help (default is "Y"): y
Then I am getting the following error message:
Can not load Live Id module. Make sure correct version of Live Id Sign-in assistant is installed.
        + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [Move-CsUser], CommonAuthException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.Rtc.Admin.Authentication.CommonAuthException,Microsoft.Rtc.Management.AD.Cmdle
       ts.MoveOcsUserCmdlet
        + PSComputerName        : lyncserver
Tried to Google it but found nothing.
As far as I can see it is complaining about the Live ID Sign-in assistant, which is installed (the 64bit version) on my computer but not on the remote server. Does it need to be installed on the server as well?
Thanks for the answers in advance.

This error related to reporting services, you need to verify that reporting services is installed on these instances.
Secondly, you didn't need to create this instance manually then setup monitoring role. delete this instance from shared storage and try again to setup rule using different instance name and it will create automatic on shared storage.

  • [Lync 2013] - Desktop Sharing and taking control

    Hello,
In Lync 2013 when someone shares his/her screen and I'm taking control of the shared screen I have the following problem:
Everything works fine when I'm in control with other person's desktop, however when the Lync IM/Sharing window looses focus and then the focus is regained by clicking on the shared desktop, all the input is frozen in the Lync IM window.
    for example:
I take control of shared screen, do something on the shared desktop, then I open something on my own PC (the Lync window is loosing focus at this moment), then when I click on the shared screen inside Lync IM window to continue controlling the remote desktop
any input to the Lync window is "frozen".
There is some error sound comming everytime I click in the Lync IM window during this time - just as there was some invisible popup that is blocking interaction with parent window
to solve this I have to once again loose focus of Lync IM window and then regain it again.
This is on many machines (Windows 7 64bit / Windows 8.1 Preview 64bit) using Lync 2013 32bit with and without updates
I'm using multiple monitors, but it's the same on a single display - just open Lync IM/Sharing window in one half of the screen and open notepad on other half (don't minimize windows, just switch between them during sharing)
    Best Regards

    Hi Bartek,
Did the issue happen on Windows 7/8 32 bit using Lync 2013 32 bit?
Try Clean Boot to disable all non-Microsoft services and start Lync again:
    How to Clean Boot:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Since the OS is 64 bit, please remove Lync 2013 32 bit and install Lync 2013 client 64 bit and apply the latest update then test the issue again.

All my certificates on the Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013 servers are from my local CA.
I use APP with the public certificates as my reverse proxy for people connecting from outside the network.
In Lync, the OAuthTokenIssuer certificate created through the Lync deployment wizard is issued to domainname.local (my primary sip domain) and the Subject Alternative names include domainname.co.uk
I then exported this certificate to the Exchange Server and use the Set-AuthConfig to use this certificate for OAuth.
from what I read this was what I was supposed to do.
    is this correct?
I have tried so many things I don't know what do to next.
Should the OAuth certificate in exchange be the one exported from Lync?
In Lync, should the OAuthTokenIssuer certificate include the servername or lyncserver.domainname.local or just be domainname.local like it is at the moment?
    thank-you

    Thomas,
thanks for giving this the time. I have run the Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 script following by remove-PartnerApplication so many times that I was wondering if there are other setting that
Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 creates that aer not removed when you run
    remove-PartnerApplication.
is there a way to completely remove everything that is confirmed when you run
Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 so I can run Configure-EnterpriseApplication.ps1 without there being any configurations left from when I previously run that command?
    thanks
    jack

  • Lync 2013 Watcher Node Synthetic Transactions

I've set up SCOM monitoring for our Lync 2013 deployment.
Everything is looks like perfect, in the SCOM console I can see the watcher node and it looks like the monitoring is functional (marked with green as "monitored"), but in the Event Viewer of the Watcher Node server I cannot find the events 334
or 335, but as far as I know, there should be notofications in every 15 minutes, that the tests was runing and was succesfull or not.
I've tried to remove and create the watcher node configuration again, restrated the health service etc. but nothing was helpful. What is the problem? :/

Verify that enable proxy agent on lync watcher node to can monitor it.
For configure watcher node, you can refer below link
    http://lyncdup.com/2013/01/how-to-setup-lync-2010-scom-management-pack-and-synthetic-transactions/
