Lync 2013 Multitenant hosting meeting URL

I have a Lync 2013 multitenant hosting environment. Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook 2013 closes itself a split second after it opens, no
error, no pop-up, and no message to say what’s going on. Yet within the Lync client, I can still start an ad-hoc meeting (“Meet Now”), But the
Meeting Entry Info URL looks like this conf:sip:bongani@......... Instead of a norma https link. I also have the event below on the Lync server event
viewer. but the meeting URL are configured in the format https://meet.hosterdomain.co.za/tenantdomain.co.za
Event ID 32148 – LS User Service
A user tried to create a conference with no Simple URL of type Meet available. This configuration will not work for scheduled conferences. Ad-hoc
conferences may be created but join functionality will be impaired.
And if I do a Set-CsSimpleUrlConfiguration -UseBackEndDatabase $false as recommended. I get the following when I run enable-cscomputer.
WARNING: No patterns found. Skipping rewrite rules creation for Meet simple URLs.

I tried following http://www.lyncexch.co.uk/lync-2013-hosting-pack-tenant-meet-dialin-urls/ but the URL doesnt change.
Not sure if all these are related or what needs to be corrected please assist.

  • Lync 2013 multitenant hosting pack and lync 2010 on-prem - coexistence options, alternative migration scenarios

In post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/8a22eed7-cc63-4f9e-b422-3c5a57fb32b0/lync-2013-multitenant-pack-and-lync-2010?forum=lyncdeploy , which was already answered, the answer is no, you cannot migrate from 2010 on-prem. to lync 2013
    hosted pack.
Trying to get my head around #1 -why, and #2 -what other alternatives are available.
Lisa answered that there can only be 1 CMS per forest.  Is it one CMS per forest, or
one CMS per front end pool in a forest? Meaning you can have different CMS pools. If that were true, we could migrate users to a different front end pool in a coexistence scenario between 2010 on-prem to 2013 hosted pack.
    Has anyone done this?
This is tough. I guess a cutover then from 2010 to 2013 multitenant hosted pack would be what?
    1. Uninstall 2010, decommission users, decom environment/servers.
    2. Fresh install in same AD environment of 2013 hosted pack.
That's tough for our users to make such a transition and have potentially days of downtime.
Is there no other way to do this?
    Josh

It is one CMS per forest.
There is no official guide to move from Microsoft Lync Server to Microsoft Lync Server Multitenant Hosting Pack.

  • Lync 2013 Multitenant - Sign-in not working

    Hello,
I am working on deploying the Lync 2013 Multitenant hosting pack in a staging environment for testing with the eventual goal of putting this into a production environment. So far I am working with a single front-end server routed through an F5 load balancer
using their iApp application template for Lync 2013. We are attempting to work with a very simple deployment that we scale out as additional features/capacity is needed.
The issue I'm having is during the sign-in process. I have provisioned a tenant and a user within that tenant and I am able to use the Get-CsTenant and Get-CsUser commands to view the tenant and user. I have also established the following DNS entries for
    the tenant.
A record: lync.<hosting domain> - Pointed to the public IP address for the Lync application through our F5.
A record: lyncpool01.<hosting domain> - Pointed to the public IP address for the Lync application through our F5.
    SRV record: _sip._tls.<tenant domain> (priority 0, weight 0, port 443) - Pointed to lync.<hosting domain>
    SRV record: _sipfederationtls._tcp.<tenant domain> (priority 0, weight 0, port 5061) - Pointed to lync.<hosting domain>
When I attempt to sign in to my test user externally using the Lync 2013 desktop client, I do get a certificate warning on the client that lync.<hosting domain> (cert is lyncpool01.<hosting domain>) is attempting to handle the request, but when
I accept the cert, the client waits for about 30 seconds and then gives the error "Lync couldn't find a Lync Server for <tenant domain>. There might be an issue with the Domain Name System (DNS) configuration for your domain. Please contact your
support team.". I can't figure out where this is falling apart or what name the Lync client is attempting to reach, and enabling event logging for Lync has revealed no helpful information.
Is there any assistance you can give?

    Hi,
    Agree with PaulB_NZ.
As Lync 2013 Multitenant only have external and federation users, you need to deploy Edge Server in the DMZ zone to support external and federation access.
What's more, if you want to use Lync mobile clients you also need to deploy a Reverse Proxy in the DMZ zone.

  • How to know if an installation was made with Lync Standard/Enterprise or with "Multitenant Hosting Pack"?

    Hi everyone!
I have 2 Lync Server Setups. In 1st setup I have deployed "Lync Server 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack" and in 2nd setup I have deployed "Lync Server 2013 Standard Edition". Both Setups
are isolated and have their independent SQL servers and ADs. Now the problem is I am unable to get the edition of Lync Server through powershell.
When I run Get-CsServerVersion command, it returns same output on both setups.
    #For Lync Hosting Pack
    PS C:\Users\administrator> Get-CsServerVersion
Microsoft Lync Server 2013 (5.0.8308.0): Volume license key installed.
    #For Lync Standard
    PS C:\Users\administrator> Get-CsServerVersion
Microsoft Lync Server 2013 (5.0.8308.0): Volume license key installed.
What can be the way to determine the edition of Lync Server through Powershell or .NET?
    Thanks in advance.
Rizwan Ahmed. Software Engineer - Microsoft Lync | Exchange | SharePoint | Blackberry Enterprise Server | .NET

    Hi,
So far, I don’t know how to identify with Lync Powsershell or .NET as well.
However, you can identify from Lync Server Control Panel. For Lync Server Multitenant Hosting Pack, it is incompatible with Lync Server Control Panel, this means you should use the Lync Server Control Panel only in read-only mode. For example, enabled
users are not displayed in the User section of the Lync Server Control Panel. So you can identify with the way of enabling users on Lync Server Control Panel, Lync Server Standard/Enterprise Edition will show the users on Lync Server Control Panel.

  • Multitenant Hosting Pack

    Hi,
I looking to install Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack, i have setup running lync 2013 standard edition. But for Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack, i can only get deployment guide in download. I don't get any installer
to install this. Is there any installer available, what is requirement to get it. does it work independently or it will work as addon on over lync 2013 standard edition.

    Hi,
The hosting pack is available through the volume licensing site if you are a volume licensed customer of Microsoft's.
If you want to download and install the Lync Server 2013 Multitenant Hosting Pack software, you need to log on to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center at

  • Lync 2013 Front End SIP/2.0 500 Compression algorithm refused

I've deployed a brand new Lync 2013 environment hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2 that is currently in co-existence mode with my Lync 2010 environment.
I have SCOM 2012 monitoring the environment and it recently started reporting that one or more of my front end servers
was in a critical state.  Diving into it revealed the following perf counter threshold was being tripped:

The only recent change made to the front end servers was making the registry change outlined in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2901554/en-us so i'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

The MSFT support person said to re-apply CU5 to the Director servers and reboot.  Since this is impactful to the environment and I would have to do reboots anyway, I opted to go the route of installing the more recent update so....
Last weekend I updated my Lync environment with what I think is considered CU6, the September 2014 updates for Lync 2013 Server (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243) and still no luck. The front
end servers are fine; no excess SIP 500 errors occurring there but within 30 minutes of removing the SCOM override on the Director servers the alerts started firing again.
I reinstated the override in SCOM for the Directors and had my case with Premier support un-archived.  The MSFT support person said if the alerts didn't go away she was going to have to engage the Lync product group for help.  We'll see where it
    goes from here.

  • Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 migration - Dialin conferencing

While migrating from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013, i have stopped all services on the Lync 2010 servers to make sure all is okay and everything is working fine with Lync 2013.
Nevertheless, when someone on Lync 2013 schedule a meeting, and someone dial one of the PSTN Dialin conference number and enter the conference ID, this scenario is not working.
If i start the Lync 2010 front end services, then the previous scenario works.
So i did something else. I have scheduled a meeting and i change the meeting options to get a new conference ID. this makes the conference work over dial in pst number while Lync 2010 services are down.
    This means:
    - When someone (Lync 2013 user) schedule a meeting, the default conference ID that is generated, requires the existence of Lync 2010 services for a PSTN Dial in user to connect
-When someone (Lync 2013 user) schedule a meeting and change the meeting options to get a new conference ID, then the PSTN Dial in user can connect even if all Lync 2010 services are down.
    Any clue?
    ammarhasayen

i have found it. moving the conference directories from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 solves the whole thing.

  • Lync 2013 Hosting pack tenant meet url returns 404

    Hi all,
I have a 2 problems in the Hosting pack:
    1. Meet urls are correctly generated for tenants (IE https://meet.hoster.com/tenantdomain/user/confID) but they return a 404 when browsing to the meeting from a browser
    2. Office web apps presentations just never work. It just says that it cannot connect to the presentation server.
For problem 1, what I tried was:
    1. Set Set-Cssimpleconfiguration -UseBackendDatabase $True -Tenant <TenantID>
    2. Tried repairing the IIS Rewrite module as per http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/e1fbdaa9-0961-4171-ab51-91b8d37432de/action?threadDisplayName=lync-meetings-not-available-404-for-every-url
    3. Made sure all my domain maps are correct
    4. All certs seem 100% fine.
    What is weird is:
    https://dialin.hoster.com/dialin - works
https://meet.hoster.com/meet - works (Default cannot join the meeting page)
    https://meet.hoster.com/tenantdomain/tenantuser/confid - Does not work
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
For first question, try the following steps:
Remove IIS URL Rewrite Module 2 in Control Panel.
Run Step 2: Setup or Remove Lync Server Components with Lync Server Deployment Wizard.
For second question, check if you can access Office Web Apps Server discovery URL via browser.
Check if you associate Office Web Apps Server with Front End pool.

  • Lync 2013 hosting pack - CU July 2013 Support

Does the Lync 2013 Hosting Pack support the cumulative update of July?
    What are the known issues?

My experience was running the LyncServerUpdateInstaller and run Install-CsDatabase on the servers. I haven't had it break mobility though.
With that in mind so far you only do that when you first install it because there hasn't been any further updates to Lync 2013 Hosting since it was released.
I have a ticket opened right now about the bad documentation on the deployment guide. My simple url wasn't working because the document says to provide -Tenant $GUID for the meeting URL but it didn't work 100%. However it worked sometimes!!
The Microsoft tech pointed me to a guys blog (yes thats right.. a non-microsoft blog) that shows to drop the -Tenant $GUID from the meeting URL but make sure you keep the -Tenant $GUID for the dialin url.
I basically wined and told them I wanted the 100% right way to do it. I wanted them to tell me either the deployment guide was wrong or there was a bug. Two weeks and no reply yet and they just update to say "They are still looking into it"
Not to mention when I opened the ticket they tried saying "Well this is still a new product". I said its been out for almost a freakin year and its not a NEW product.

  • Lync 2013 meeting invitation customizations not working for some users

    Hello Microsoft TechNet Forms,
I have a strange problem that I am totally stumped on. I made some modifications to the Lync 2013 meeting configuration to add in my company's logo, a footer and set a custom help Lync URL. Now everything seemed to work expect for myself and
one other person I tested with. If I try creating a new Lync 2013 meeting via my Outlook 2013 the normal stock Lync meeting invite appears. Yet testing with any other user everything I have changed appears as expected and I am at a total loss to why.
I have so far from troubleshooting determined it must be something with my account that is causing it but I have just not been able to determine what. As signing into a different machine yields the same result yet testing with another account that is
known to work on the exact same machine works correctly with the different account. I have tired deleting and re-crating my Lync account just in case that had something to do with it but that didn't fix the problem. I have tired repairing Office 2013 to
running windows update on Office 2013 which didn't help.
The changes I made to the meeting configuration are global scoped. I have so far not found anything online from anyone ever reporting a similar issue to this. At this point I am stuck on what I should be looking for with regards to what is stopping
the meeting invite updating for myself and the other person. Given I don't know what mechanism is involved with updating the Lync meeting invite on Outlook 2013 I am stumped. I am open to any suggestions someone might have as to what to do next or what might
be the cause of this problem.
    Nicholas,

    Hi Nicholas,
Can you compare your account with other’s and check if your account is applied any special policy in Lync Control Panel ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Clicking Lync meeting URL in Chrome does not open Lync

We have some staff that use Chrome as their default browser.
In OWA, if they click on a URL to join a Lync meeting, and the Lync 2013 App is installed on their computer, the App does not open.  Instead a Lync Web App opens.
Is this happening because of a shortcoming in Lync or in Chrome?
We'd prefer not to set IE as the default browser and not to install the IE Tab chrome plugin - I guess I'd like to understand a bit more about why the full App isn't called?

There is a chance that this issue is caused by Lync using a deprecated model in the plugin.  Honestly, I don't even understand the second half of the previous sentence, but a similar issue in Chrome for Mac was traced to that root cause.  Quoting
    from a Chromium developer:
    #12 [email protected]
Okay, thanks; that's what I needed.
The reason this started with Chrome 22 is that we dropped support for legacy graphics and event models (QuickDraw and Carbon, respectively) that have been deprecated for several years. To remain compatible with Mac Chrome 22+, plugins need to negotiate the new CoreGraphics and Cocoa models. Almost all the popular plugins have updated over the last several years, and I had reached out to the vendors of plugins I was aware to let them know. I hadn't heard of this plugin, so I hadn't contacted them.
The fix here is for them to release an updated version of their plugin. If their plugin doesn't draw or handle events (and it sounds like it doesn't, but is just a bridge to the app) then adding the negotiation to the plugin is a trivial change in their plugin.
I don't see any contact info for them, so what would help is for anyone experiencing this to contact Microsoft Lync technical support or any other contact point you have to let them know that their plugin needs to be updated, and point them to this bug for details. Feel free to provide them my email address in case they want to follow up in any way.
With a view to getting help from the Microsoft Lync team to investigate this, I've opened a call with Office 365 support.  Initially, first line support could not get permission to install Chrome and replicate the bug, and thus wanted to close the call
as it potentially related to non-microsoft software.  I've asked for the call to be escalated to a more senior tier that would have permission to install Chrome and hopefully someone somewhere is working on it.
Can I ask that anyone experiencing the same issue please raises a call with Office 365 about this, as a flurry of similar calls at the same time will get someone's attention - as all of us that work on helpdesks know too well!
Thanks to the 12 people that have starred the issue on the Chrome bug tracker in the last week.

  • Lync 2013 with outlook 2010 meeting error

I have installed lync basic 2013 with outlook 2010. The meeting add in is in place, but I get an error when trying to set up a Lync meeting "unable to identify the calendar owner"
What to do to correct this?

    Hi,
You seem to get the error “Unable to identify the calendar owner. Please contact your support team.”
This is caused if the Online Meeting Add-in for Lync 2010 cannot determine the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) address of your Microsoft Outlook account. You need to contact your Exchange administrator.
If you mail server does not support online meeting(such as a pop3 server), you can join the meeting as anonymous user through the meeting URL.
You can also create a new profile to check the result:

  • How to Disable Lync 2013 Web app link in Lync meeting

I want disable Lync 2013 Web App , because it is  confuse WinXP user(no sound suuport) , I reference the topic(Disable Lync Web App link) but not work in 2013 version. How can I disable that?

I assume you're referring to this link:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/33fbfa3f-e7dd-43a7-85f4-43c280e17d4f/disable-lync-web-app-link?forum=ocsconferencing
That was an unsupported but clever hack that we developed by the user asking the question.   There is not supported method for doing this in Lync 2013.
If it's an audio only meeting, I'd suggest removing the URL completely from each individual the meeting invite before sending it out.  If it's not, then the WinXP user would either need Lync, which they would then automatically join with anyway, or
they wouldn't in which case sending them the meeting invite wouldn't help.
