Lync 2013 not saving conversations to Outlook 2013

I have several users running lync 2013  and outlook 2013. And randomly lync stops saving the conversation history to outlook. All office and windows updates are completed. Each user is on Windows 7 enterprise .
Here are a few things we have tired:
full office repair
Uninstall and reinstall of office 2013, with the removal tool as well.
made sure users had owner permissions to Conversation history folder in outlook.
The only permanent fix we have found is a erase and re-install of the whole system. Any one have any ideas?

Hi,
Have you tried creating a new mail profile in Control Panel?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us
And please make sure you have configured the setting to save conversation history in Lync Options as the image below:

  • Lync photos not get sync with outlook.

User have uploaded their photo's in Lync and can be viewed. However users are unable to see it. Also the attribute
    called thumbnailPhoto is showing blank.
    We have also enabled attribute
is replicated to the Global Catalog, by using for example the Schema Snap-In:

    Hi,
How do users upload the photo in Lync? What’s the Lync client version, Lync 2010 or Lync 2013?
If you are using Lync 2010, please note that Lync 2010 does not offer a direct method to import a picture to the
thumbnailPhoto attribute. For more information about it, please click
    here.
If you are using Lync 2013, and want to change the photo in both Outlook 2013 and Lync 2013, we can upload the photo in the following steps:
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click File > Office Account.
    3. In User Information, click Change photo to edit it.
Then update Address Book in Outlook and restart Lync to check whether the photo is changed or not. Also we can directly upload the photo by using Exchange cmdlet Set-UserPhoto:

    Hope it helps.

I have MS Office 2011 on my MAC. I have noticed the conversation history is saved on the MS Lync History folder on the MAC. However the outlook mailbox folder called " conversation history "  is not updated with this info. Any idea what could
    be happening ?

    Hi,

  • Lync 2010 not saving IM messages to Outlook

We have a small number of users who have issues with their Lync communicating with the exchange, they do not get any flagged errors however their IM messages are not being saved & they do not have the folder within Outlook.
The Exchange server is hosted internally, the Lync server is supplied by a 3rd party.
Many other users including myself have no problems in this regard.
They are currently running Windows XP with Office 2007 & Lync 2010.
I have checked their folder count which is no where near 1000
I have created a brand new profile on their machine.
I have found that under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Communicator/<username> the autodiscovery folder does not exist
I have also found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft the Communicator & Lync folder do not exist (these registry folders have been mentioned in troubleshooting I have found on MS website) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000886
    I have attempted a re-install of Lync.
I should also mention that I signed the user into my own machine (same, XP, Office07, Lync2010) which for myself the conversation history works but still the user has issues.
I've also had the 3rd party create a brand new Lync account for the user.
Does anyone have any ideas here?? Would anyone know why these registry keys are missing as the install is done in the same manner on each machine, the majority of which work correctly.
    Thanks for any help
    Sam

The issue may be caused by failed EWS connection. Please check the following tips:
    1. Please check other Exchange integration features work properly and the option “Personal information manager” has been selected in Lync client.
    2. In this user's Lync, please holding down CTRL and right-clicking the Lync icon located in the System Tray and click Configuration Information .
Please check if the status of EWS information is ok. Please also check if Value of EWS Internal URL and EWS External URL is correct.
    3. On user's client, please go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator\[User SMTP Address]\Autodiscovery, please check if the URL of the
    following items are correct:
    ExternalEwsUrl
    InternalEwsUrl

  • Not all Conversations in Outlook 2010 Show as Expandable Until Selected

    Hi,
I've recently noticed that when using conversation view in Outlook 2010, not all of the conversations show the expandable arrow icon to the left. When the email is highlighted, however, the arrow appears and the conversation can be expanded as usual.
There doesn't appear to be any common factor in whether the arrow is initially shown or not (for example whether or not I was the last person to respond in the conversation, the other person or people in the conversation etc.).
I've observed this in other people's Outlook as well, so am wondering if anyone knows if there is a setting that I'm missing or if this is somehow 'by design'?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
We haven't seen such issues here with conversation view. However I still would suggest you to try out the following:
    1. Get Outlook, Word and MSO on the latest updates. Please refer the link below to check for the latest updates.
How to install the latest applicable updates for Microsoft Outlook (US English only) :
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2625547
    2. Check the issue in safe mode
    3. If the issue is still seen then disable all the add-ins and check the behavior again
    4. If the issue is still seen then please create new outlook profile and check the behavior
    5. If we still see the issue , then please uninstall office and reinstall back and check the behavior
    6. If we still see the issue then create new windows profile and check the behavior
Once you have exhausted the steps and issue is still seen, then I would appreciate if you can open phone support case with Microsoft so that we can collect logs and analyze the same and help you out to resolve the concern.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Getting ÿþ as saved conversations from Lync in Outlook in Office 2013

    Hi,
I've been trying to get to the bottom of this and have found similar posts, but no one seems to have an answer.
When I IM someone using Lync 2013, they get a pop up notification but instead of the message they see ÿþ<.  Once they open the chat window, they can see my typed text.  Occasionally, certain people can't see the first line of my chat, but as
long as they keep the chat window open, they can see everything new I type.
All my conversations that are saved in outlook show ÿþ< for the text and are unreadable.  I've disabled the saving of conversations because they have become worthless.
I believe it has to do with BOM but have not been able to find a way to fix this.
If I copy a conversation from the chat window and paste it into Microsoft Word it shows ÿþ<, but if I paste it into notepad the conversation appears.
(I had inserted a screenshot here, but am unable to because I am unable to figure out how to get my account "verified")
I've tried changing the preferred encoding for outgoing messages: to Unicode (UTF-8) in Outlook, but this had no effect and I can't find a similar option in Lync 2013.
(I had inserted a screenshot here, but am unable to because I am unable to figure out how to get my account "verified")
I enabled logging for Lync and the event IDs that come up are 1, 11 and 12, to which I cannot find any information for at the moment.
Any help and or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?
Please try to delete Lync User Profile and information on Registry, then repair Office 2013.
The path of Lync User Profile: %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync
The path for information on Registry: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    Then test the issue again.

  • Lync 2013 isn't saving conversation history in Lync, Saves to Outlook just fine.

So in my Lync client, I have the Conversations icon that has tabs under it for All, Missed, and Calls.
All of those tabs are blank in my program.  They said "You'll see your recent conversations here", but there's nothing there.  I do see my old conversations in Outlook just fine, but Lync itself isn't saving them.
What's even worse is that my Conversations icon has a '5' next to it and says I have 5 missed conversations.  I click it and the tabs are blank.
Any thoughts on this?  Most issues I see are when Outlook isn't logging the conversations so my issue is backwards...

    Hi,
    Please check your settings:
    1. On the Lync main window, click Options button, and then click Personal;
    2. In the Personal information manager section, select "Microsoft Exchange Or Microsoft Outlook" from Dropdownlist;
    3. Checked all checkboxes under this field;
    4. Exit Lync 2013 and restart it;
    5. Check the result.
If the issue still persists, please try to repair this Office program:

  • Lync 2013 client not processing history spooler folder (conversation history)

We have been using Lync 2013 fully patched up to latest & greatest, along with Exchange 2013 for about 6 months now & everything is working
great. (I did a AD migration from our old parent company in the UK as well as migrated exchange from 2010 to 2013, all that without a hitch for the most part.)
the issue that seems to be popping up intermittently is conversation history. I manged to work around some of them for the most part & getting
them to process; with the exception of 1 user.
If he logs into another PC his conversation history works fine.
However on his PC it does not seem to want to process the history spooler folder in "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]m",
there are 737 files in there (all of his convo history)
Now what i did & it seems to sort of work is,Signed out of Lync, I deleted the users Sip folder after backing up the history spooler folder, logged
back into Lync which recreated the sip_user folder; logged back out of Lync , copied the History Spooler folder back to the SIP folder, & signed into Lync.
This took 10 files out of the history spooler folder, & then appeared in the convo history; both on Lync client & Outlook; but did not bring
all of them in. I did some testing and if you log out, then back in, it processes a few more. but not all.
EWS & MAPI settings & all other Lync configuration information settings match a users with no convo history issues.
    So now the questions.
1)What could possibly cause what ever mechanism that processes the History spooler folder to stop/only process a few items during sign in? Also what
    is the mechanism?
2)Is there any way through powershell to force the synchronization of the history spooler folder?
    Thank you

so in some more testing i had check the history spooler folder, & there were about 700+ files.
as a note* (Upon deleting the users sip folder & logging back in thus re-creating the folder new convo's where saving. So i did "fix" the issue with no new convo's during my initial work prior to opening this thread.)
I then removed a good chunk of the *.hist files & only left convo's from this month. signed out then back in, 10 files processed. then did it again, another 10. did it again, & it did 4 then stopped. I noticed there were some files over 1 mb. &
remember coming across this post (Lync
not processing files over 1mb) so i removed the 1mb files & then logged out then back in. processed 10 more.
i then added all the files to the history spooler file with the exception of the files over 1 mb, & logged in & out about 70 times to process the whole folder. Now all of the convos are in Lync & outlook as well as new convo's being saved. However
i have a folder now with 130 files that are over 1mb that will not process at all..
so now i am trying to find some validity on the statement in the link above
"We did open a case with Microsoft and they confirmed it is a bug in the Exchange EWS HTTP stack. It
is supposedly under review by the Dev team, but my guess is that it won't be fix soon. The magic size is exactly 1MB or 1048576 bytes."
If that is actually true it sucks & is some B.S as it is nearly 2 months later & this is obviously
a major problem & not even a CU or PU has been released to address the issue.

  • Chat history displayed correctly in Outlook, not showing in Lync 2013 client

    Morning all,
It seems like I have an un-searchable issue with many hits returning that conversation history flat out doesn't work, which isn't the situation here...
The backend consists of Exchange 2007 with Lync server 2013. Clients (a mix of Lync 2010 and 2013, XP and 7 respectively) have no issues connecting and the chat history works fine from Outlook, however, on the client, conversation history is not displayed
and we are just given the option to "View more in Outlook..." (Which again works fine).
Is the chat history not meant to be displayed within the Lync client or are there any options or boxes that I have left unchecked that could cause this issue?
I've checked any addons on Outlook that sound as though they might be in any way affiliated with Lync and ensured they're ticked to no avail.
I'll be happy to follow up with any further information if my explanation is a bit cloudy.
    Cheers.

The Lync client will attempt to connect to Exchange Web Services in order to display items like Conversation History and Visual Voicemail.  If it cannot connect to EWS, it will fall back to a MAPI connection via the Outlook client.  The MAPI connection
will allow chats to be deposited in the Conversation History folder and display presence information within Outlook and a few others, but the EWS connection provides a richer experience.
You can check how it is connecting by holding CTRL + right click on Lync system tray icon.  Then select Configuration Information.  You should see items for EWS internal/external URL, MAPI Information, and EWS Information.
Unlike Outlook, Lync does not use the Autodiscover SCP to locate EWS.  Lync relies on the Exchange Autodiscover DNS A record to be setup both internally and externally.  Assuming Autodiscover and EWS are working properly, the following are required
in order for Lync to connect to EWS successfully:
    - User's SIP URI and Primary SMTP address should match
    - Autodiscover.sipdomain.com DNS A record setup internally and externally for each SIP domain supported
    - EWS Internal/External URLS accurately configured on Exchange
Let us know what you find.

    Hi,
If you change the SMTP account same with SIP account, please try to delete Lync user profile and restart Lync, Outlook client to test again.
If you want to use different SMTP account with Lync account, you can also try to change Lync client policy, change the parameter DisableEmailComparisionCheck to True.

  • Since upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 the conversations in Outlook do not group by subject

    Hi Microsoft,
Since we have upgraded from Exchange 2007 to 2013 users complain their conversations in Outlook are no longer grouped based on the subject of an e-mail. I looks like Outlook uses other message properties for grouping e-mails in a conversation.
I have investigated all the forum topics and see that with exchange 2010 there is support added for the use of conversation-ID's. However the functionality to automatically group e-mails with the same subject in one conversation in Outlook is gone!
I would like to know if there is a fix to implement so that some our users get this functionality back. For Example: Let the exchange server not generate conversation-ID's and message-ID's for certain users.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    Totally correct!
If you don't plan to maintain Outlook then you plan to fail :(

  • TAPIOVERRIDE not working w/Outlook 2010 64-bit & Lync 2013 64-bit

    Hi all,
I have a Win7 64-bit machine with Office 2010 Standard 64-bit and Lync 2013 64-bit. The user would like to use the Windows Dialer instead of Lync to call from his Outlook contacts. Prior to my installing Lync for him, this worked very well. However, thereafter
Lync attempts to do the calling.
There are dozens of threads out there for using the TAPIOVERRIDE registry fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959625/en-us) to correct this issue, but it is not working for me and I assume it's due to my combination of application versions. I've confirmed
both approaches (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\... -vs- HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\...) fail to work even after rebooting entirely - for the record, I would assume the "32-bit approach" is what I need.
Has anyone gotten the TAPIOVERRIDE fix to work with the aforementioned software versions? Can anyone else make a recommendation on a TAPI add-in for Outlook which would inherently override Lync's calling functionality?
    Thanks!

    Aaron0001,
Good news.  As an Office365 subscriber, I was able to open a service ticket on this issue, and I believe we've got a solution.  As it turns out, these Call Integration/TAPIOVERRIDE keys do work (as a precaution, I created both); however, it appears
they have to be in-place when you install Lync to have any effect.  I'm guessing that these keys may impact how Lync installs, but have no effect if Lync is already installed.
I had uninstalled Lync so that I could use Outlook with Windows dialer ... dialing functionality was restored as soon as I uninstalled Lync.  However, when I got online with the Microsoft technician he had me reinstall Lync 64bit (after the keys had
already been created) and, presto, Outlook is still using Windows dialer rather than contacting Lync to try to place the call.
I hope this is helpful to you, or to anyone else who happens upon this page with the same problem.
    All the best,
    Kevin

  • Outlook 2010 contacts not showing phone number in Lync 2013 client

    Hi,
We have Lync 2013 with Exchange 2010. Recently we started upgrading Lync clients from 2010 to 2013.
A few users started reporting that their local Outlook contacts does not show phone numbers in Lync 2013 (working with 2010)
I have installed the august patch which should solve this issue

Any idea where to look next?

Lync expects all the phone numbers to be in the E.164 format, meaning they should be +1-111-11111111 etc. If they’re not like this, you will have to normalize them if you want Lync
    to publish them.

  • Lync 2013 click to call from Outlook 2013 does not have the option for Lync call

    Hello,
We are currently migrating from OCS 2007 r2 to Lync 2013. We are on office 365, but Lync is on premise. After migrating several users the option in Outlook to click to call someone only shows one option, which is to call the person's desk phone. Before there
was a dropdown where you could choose desk phone, mobile or Lync call. This issue isn't happening to everyone. We are using Office 2013 and Office 2010. Please let me know if you have suggestions or if you need more info.
Not sure if this is related, but some people have lost the option to view their contact's pictures.
    Thank you in advance,
    Mitch

    Hi,
Please see the image below, are we talking about this?
If a contact doesn't have a phone number, we surely can't call him.
You can try updating the Offline Address Book to see the result:

If I got anything wrong, feel free to post back.

  • Lync 2013 Missed Conversations pane not showing all items

On Outlook I moved the missed call notifications out of my Inbox to the Conversation History folder.
I then changed the custom search criteria for the "Missed Call" and "Missed Conversation" search folders to include the Conversation History Folder as well as the Inbox.  So I still see all missed calls.
However,  On Lync, under Conversations,  in the missed conversations pane, I end up "losing" the missed calls moved to the conversation history folder and only see the calls in the Inbox.  Those other missed class end up in the Calls
    folder.
Is the only way to have all missed calls show up as missed in Lync,  is by leaving them in the Inbox?
Using Lync 2013 (nov updates) with Lync 2010 server

    Hi,
