Lync 2013 Privacy Relationship Default Settings to be changed to Workgroup

Lync 2013 Privacy Relationship Default Settings to be changed to Workgroup.
Is there any automated way of setting default privacy relationship in Lync to "Workgroup" for end users by means of powershell, Lync policy etc.
Vinny Mistry

Simply, no there is not.  You could maybe hack something together using export-csuserdata and update-csuserdata and changing relationship status within the XML, but it would be difficult and unsupported.

  • Lync 2013 client - Set people to "Blocked Contacts" relationship by default?

We are in the process of implementing Lync Server 2013 (on-premises). We have already implemented one front end pool and one edge pool and successfully tested the basic functionality.  Now we are moving on to configuring the various policies based
on our requirements. One requirement that has come late in the planning is to prevent people from receiving IMs unless they explicitly allow people to IM them and to have the ability to whitelist IMs from people on an individual basis.  This is a feature
that was submitted as a requirement by way of our IT HelpDesk manager.
From what I gather, this could be accomplished if someone had the ability to set the default to the "Blocked Contacts" relationship for everyone instead of "Colleagues".  In my research on how to set that as the default, I found
a setting "ShowManagePrivacyRelationship" in Set-CsClientPolicy.  I created a new per-user client policy called "TEST" and applied it to myself.  Then I set ShowManagePrivacyRelationShip to $true via PowerShell on the TEST policy.
However, even hours after making the change and signing out and back into the Lync 2013 client, I still don't see any change in functionality or new options.
Now, if I instead sign in with the Lync 2010 client, I can indeed see a "Manage Privacy Relationships" option in a drop-down near the right side of the client which takes me to a view where I can see and move "People in my company" and
"People in domains connected to my company" pseudo-contacts from the "Colleagues" relationship to "Blocked Contacts" and this accomplishes exactly what we want to do.
Where can I find the "Manage Privacy Relationship" setting in Lync 2013 client?  If there is no setting called that, how can I accomplish what I am trying to do using Lync 2013?
I would rather not use the Lync 2010 client, as our HelpDesk technicians all use Windows 8.1 and Office 2013.

    David:
Yes, I have all of those relationships categories in Lync 2013.  What I am missing is the ability to set the rest of the organization to
Blocked Contacts by default.  I can do this with the Lync 2010 client using the same user login and the same Lync Server 2013 environment.
The following image demonstrates the location of the Manage Privacy Relationships option I would like to leverage in Lync 2013.  The image is of the Lync 2010 client.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/i0g83i9su9e5zox/Manage_Privacy_Relationships.png
If I click that Manage Privacy Relationships option, I end up on the following screen.  Note that there is a
People in my company object under Colleagues.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/kkatgtoexea7evt/Default_Privacy_Relationships.png
I am able to move that People in my company object to another relationship option.  I moved it to
Blocked Contacts, as you can see below.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/956kw0ih15uksgr/People_In_Company_Blocked.png
As you can see in the following image, after making this change if I do not have a person on my Contacts list, they are unable to IM me.  As you can see in my Lync 2013 client relationships list, no one is in my
Blocked Contacts list yet the Lync Test Account is being blocked due to the fact that I put People in my company there and haven't added them to my Contacts list.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/cue09wjj8tidbau/Blocked.png
After adding the Lync Test Account to my Contacts list, the Lync Test Account is able to IM me.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nalju5ia980lc30/Unblocked.png
I hope these images help make clear that there seems to be a capability present in the Lync 2010 client that I am unable to locate in the Lync 2013 client.  I can't find this
Manage Private Relationships option anywhere in the Lync 2013 client or any other option that lets me see those People in my company and People in domains connected with my company objects.
With regards to the EnablePrivacyMode option, I am already aware of it and that is not what we are looking for.

  • Does anyone know a way to modify "Default Settings" printer preset?

I use enough different presets that I find that the "Last Used" preset for printing if often what not what I really want.
(Background: I save a number of different profiles for different types of print jobs, so that I can select "Color Production" as a preset, for example, and get a number of printer settings configured as once, like Color Settings, Quality, Color, and duplexing.  These are set and selected using the "Presets" picker in the Print dialog box.  One can use the picker to save and view settings as well.)
Am I correct in that there doesn't seem to be a way to change the "Default Settings" preset?  The "Show Presets" pick in Presets doesn't offer the ability to change the presets, and the "Default Settings" preset can't be deleted here, unlike the user set presets; it also isn't possible to save a preset as "Default Settings".
Ideally, changing the default would let me check the box to always use the default (as default), but this way I would have my own defaults.  Just wondering whether I'm missing something obvious - I've tried the modifier keys trick clicking on things, and also the CUPS subsystem at localhost:631.

  • How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window?

    Hi champs,
Just a simple non-technical question: How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window on Windows 7 desktop?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Did you mean change the Lync: Change the Default Font and Color of Instant Messages just as Edwin said above?
If not, as I know, there is no natural way to change it.
If yes, on the latest version of Lync 2013 client, there is a new option “IM” on Lync client “Options” list. And you need to change the default Font and Color of IM in the interface of “IM”.

  • Lync 2013 policy settings spreadsheet

    Guys,
Is there anything out there for Lync 2013 that shows all the Lync policy settings and the options available as I need to discuss this in detail with a customer as part of the deployment.  Im sure there must be a spreadsheet covering each option for
    client policies and conferencing policies?
Please point me in the right direction as all I can find at the moment are links to Technet articles.

  • Lync 2013 Autodiscover settings.

Hi all, im working on a client that we have installed Lync 2013 configured both front and edge, dns etc. Now we have some fails with autodiscover, from external works fine, from internal No (error from lyncdiscoverinternal). we use IIS ARR from 2012. also
client asks if possible to not having the lyncdiscoverinternal on the internal DNS.  we are migrating from 2010.
    DR.M3rL4

    Hi nachio,
You could refer to the following steps to troubleshoot this issue:
    1. Verify if the DNS records(A record and SRV record) are correct.
    2. Manually specify the auto-discovery server and try to sign in.
    3. Delete user profile and registry key on client machine.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
     HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
If the issue still exists, please feel free to let me know.

  • Lync 2013 - Skype for business User Interface

    Hello,
We are using Lync 2013 with Lync 2013 server with CU from August 2014 (so not ready for Skype for Business).
I have installed latest Desktop Updates for Windows and Office, and now everytime we log on we get the Skype for Business UI with the question to restart the client with the Lync UI.
I have followed the recommendation in this article:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
    I have set this:
In the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Lync] key, create a new
    Binary value.
The Value name must be  EnableSkypeUI, and the
Value data   must be set  to 00 00 00 00.
But this settings seems to be completely ignored... doesn't do anything.
We can't set the policy on the server, as the server is not yet up-to-date and doesn't know about a Skype UI policy.
Can somebody please tell me how I can start the updated Lync / Skype for Business client with the Lync UI as a default (without disturbing the user with the restart-the-client pop-up)?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
As mentioned the Lync Server is not up-to-date, based on my knowledge this is why the issue occurs.
Please refer to this article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
You can configure the client experience only if you are running Lync Server 2013 with the December 2014 Cumulative Update (5.0.8308.857) or later installed. The latest one is:
KB 3036869 February 2015 Cumulative Update 5.0.8308.871 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server.
You can specify the client experience the users in your organization will see by using the
Set-CSClientPolicy cmdlet with the EnableSkypeUI parameter:
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true

  • Lync 2013 Android can't sign in with 5.4 but can sign in with 5.3

AS Title said. I has deployed Lync 2013 Mobility. Now I got very strange things. First, I can sign in with Lync 2013 App Android 5.3.1100 and its fully functional(IM,Audio,Video). But when I update to Lync 2013 App Android 5.4.1106. I can't sign in.
No any Error message on screen. Even checked Android log. Still can't understand what happend.
My Lync environment is not using Public Cert. But if working fine with Private Cert on Lync 2013 App Android 5.3 version should be fine on Lync 2013 App Android 5.4 version.
I also test my connectivity on https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ . All Pass. No Errors.
Have anyone can tell me why I can't sign in with Android 5.4 version?

  • Lync 2013 OCT deployment on machines with Office 2010. Installation Failure

    Hi,
In our environment, we have Win7, Office 2010 x86. (no plans to upgrade all of Office to 2013 as yet)
I'm trying to deploy Lync 2013 x86, and have packaged an MSP using "setup /admin" for later deployment via SCCM.
Now I know there are no problems running Lync 2013 with Office 2010 as it works fine if you manually install.
Strange thing is, when I try running the setup with MSP for silent install, it runs silent and all looks well although all the Office Tools shortcuts are created and there are files under the Program Files folders for Office\15.0 as expected
but not Lync itself. ie: no lync.exe file or shortcuts.
Reviewing the setup log doesn't show any obvious errors that I can tell.
Also after this, if I go through the "Add/Remove Components" under Uninstall Programs\Lync 2013, and I can see in there that it DOES already show Lync as being installed, if I just click continue, it runs through the setup process and
    then Lync will be installed
I've also tried this same process using the Full "Office Pro Plus 2013" and only select Lync to install and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else come across this issue or could point me in the right direction.
For the OCT (setup.exe /admin) the only settings I've changed from defaults are:
    - Filled in the Organisation name
    - Set KMS licensing, display level to none and suppress modal
    - some regkeys for some default settings for GalDownloadInitialDelay, ShownFirstRunOptin
    - Force on Lync (Run from My Computer)
I'm running "setup.exe /adminfile Lync_x86.MSP" in my case to test this MSP.

I had the same issue. As soon as I updated to the latest Admin admx/opal files, it worked great.
    Cheers,
    JeffCSP

(it remains uncorrected by MSFT :(

    Hi,
Please make sure there is no typos in the URL rewrite rule.
You can configure IIS ARR to display more information with the error with the following path:
Open IIS Manager –> Sites –> Default Web Site –> Error Pages –> Edit Feature Settings.
    Select Detailed error
Then you can access simple URL again to check the full error message.

  • Lync 2013 mobile client can't see all fields in contact card

We have deployed Lync 2013 infra in our organization, now we observed, mobile Lync client users are not able to see other users mobile number on contact card rest all information is visible.
Is there  any workaround or fix to resolve this issue. Appreciate quick help.

That's effectively by design (but a popular complaint).  The workaround is to put the users who's mobile numbers you need in your Outlook contact list.  There's another workaround related to setting the privacy relationship, but you have to coordinate
it with many people which is not too feasible.
Here are others upset about it:

We have tried a number of things this to get this working, but nothing has worked.
    Installed Office 2013 SP1
Completely re imaged the client's computers
    Deployed new Polycom Lync phones
Completely removed clients from their response group and the Lync server and added them back
I'm not sure where to go from here or what might be causing this.  I would appreciate any thoughts you might have.  Thank you!

By default, calls from Response Groups ignore call forwarding or simultaneous ring settings.

  • Client Version Policy: Upgrading from OCS R2 Phone Edition to Lync 2013

    Hey, everyone!
Looking at the settings in Lync Control Panel, the default OCPhone Client Version Policy is set to block anything older than 3.5.6907.*.
Now, I have two older Polycom CX700's that are running. In order for them to receive updates from Lync Server, do I need to temporarily remove that policy? I know I need to upgrade them to 3.5.6907.* first, so I guess my question is this: is the Client Version
Policy, just for signing in or does it also pertain to which devices are allowed to get update information?
    Thanks so much.
    -Eric

The client policy should only prevent your phones from signing in. Your phones should update fine being blocked.
I've updated CX700's out of the box (with ancient OCS 2007R2 firmware on them) using Lync 2013 and have not had to modify the Client Version policy.
Edit: I will add that I needed to install a specific couple interim versions of the firmware before I could upgrade to the latest (OCS 2007 R2 Phone Edition 3.5.6907.222 and then Lync 2010 Phone Edition Feb 2012 4.0.7577.4066) - I blogged about it here: http://www.lynced.com.au/2013/08/getting-that-out-of-box-cx700-from-ocs.html

  • Not able to disable Lync 2013 autostart.

I ran into a strange problem with Lync 2013 in a customer environment. The Lync client automatic startup on login cannot be disabled, and I think I have checked all the possible reasons already..
Deleting the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run\Lync registry key disables the autostart temporarily, and so does removing the autostart checkmark in Lync client options. However, on next restart of the Lync client it adds the registry key again. The registry
key is added immediately when the Lync client is started, not sure if it happens when the client starts or when it signs in.
All the usual suspects are of course ruled out already: There are no group policies that would touch the registry key, only Lync-related group policy setting is disabling the first run wizard of the client. As far as I know, the Lync server-side client policies
shouldn't affect autostart behaviour either? And by the way, they should be in their default settings.
Software version is Lync 2013 with February 2013 cumulative updates installed (and possibly with some newer updates, but at least Feb2013 CU level) and the workstation operating system is Windows 7.
Any ideas? And yes, there are reasons to disable the autostart, related to 3rd party VOIP software which has to be started before Lync to reserve HID devices only to that program with HID device sharing disabled. Of course also ways to make Lync client totally
ignore HID devices (handsets) would be welcome. :)

For Audio/Video and Desktop Sharing, Lync 2013 uses SRTP.
You can check this by executing this commandline : Get-csMediaConfiguration
To change the settings, you should use Set-CsMediaConfiguration -EncryptionLevel [Option]
[Option] : SupportEncryption or RequireEncryption  or DoNotSupportEncryption
