Lync 2013 Sign in issue on iPhone

Hi,
So far I can sign in to the lync server 2013 from PCs . I have only one external ip in my lab environment so after reading about it I decided that the best practice is to assign it to the edge server and change the A/V Web conf ports. It works great from
computers from outside the network. But whenever i sign in from a mobile device i get the "we can't connect to the server check your network connection and server address" Error. I enable mobile devices from the servers.
What do you think the problem is ?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks :-)

Have you deployed a reverse proxy server for web services to your front-end server?  The mobile client uses UCWA exclusively for login/signaling and not the edge server.  Mobile only uses the edge server for audio/video call only.
Thanks,
Richard

  • Lync 2013 Edge Server Issues

Forgive me if this question sounds rather "entry level", I have never worked with Lync and this project was handed to me by my boss, who hasn't worked with Lync either.
I have been reading various posts and forum messages until I went cross eyed about setting up Lync 2013 Edge server correctly.  I am still running into some questions and issues with the Access, Web, and A/V services starting.  Here is my main
question, and below is my setup.
    Question:
Is there a need for both an external and internal nic card IF all three external IP's for the external services are programmed at the firewall and router to go directly to 1 internal IP address?
    Setup:
Currently I have 1 FE-Standard server that also acts as the Mediation Server, and 1 Edge Server both of which are virtual and running Server 2012.  Originally I did have 2 network cards setup, as all other documentation suggested, 1 external and 1 internal.
However my boss, who setup the DNS/Firewall entries stated to remove the External Card since the external address that was setup for the 3 services was routed to 1 internal address. The Access Services, Web Services, and A/V services are all running on three
separate ports with their own unique FQDN- 443, 444, and 445.  The cert that was deployed is a wild card cert from GoDaddy, this has been used by other servers that point inside and outside without issues.

  • Lync 2013 sign in problem

well i did setup everything from scratch according to the microsoft free eblook about lync 2013
and i joined a win 8.1 pc to my domain
when i try to login it ask me for password but when i enter it it says that
    cant sign in to lync
you didnt get signed in .it might be your sign-in address or logon credentials, so try those again. if that doesnt work, contact your support team
im desperate guys , plz help me

    Hi AliReza Baensaf,
You can follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Please check whether or not all the Lync services are running.
    2. Make sure the required DNS records are set up.
DNS requirements for Front End pool in Lync Server 2013
DNS requirements for automatic client sign-in in Lync Server 2013
    3. Please try manual configuration to test the issue.
    4. You can enable Lync client logging and use snooper to analyze it.
    5. Install the updates for both Lync server and Lync client.

  • Lync 2013 Outlook Integration Issues

I have a client that is having Exchange Outlook Integration issues when trying to set up Lync 2013.
The email address is [email protected] The sip address is
[email protected] But the Lync server is lync.domain.local. Client is on Exchange 2010.
The address book is not downloading and the outlook integration issue error icon appears on the bottom right.
If the client is set manually to [email protected] the address book downloads.
But can Lync work in the long run set up like this?

    Hi,
Did you solve the issue with the help of Andrew provided?
Which sip domain name did you use for default SIP domain ([email protected] or
    [email protected])?
Did the issue happen internal or external?
For the issue of cannot download address book, please check the External Base URL on Lync topology with the help of the link below:

  • Lync 2013 Sign in error

    Hello
I installed lync server 2013, it installed well but when I am trying to sign in there occures error "the
server is temporarily unavailable, if the problem continues please contact your suport team"

    Hi,
    1. Please double check the ports between Lync Server and clients with the help of Kazzan provided above.
    2. Please check the DNS setting, on Lync client side, you can login manually instead of automatically to check the DNS issue. Make sure you set the correct DNS records for login automatically in DNS Server with the help of the link below:

  • Lync 2013 - Sign-Out when my computer sleeps.

When I my computer goes into sleep mode my Lync signs out automatically instead of showing me as away. I am not sure if this is a feature that recently change with Lync as I did not have this issue before I switch computers. Could it be linked to my power
    saver mode?

As far as i remember there is now option in the Lync client to sign out by it self when in power saver mode? to better understand you might have look at the power saver plan option in windows if this seems fine then look at the power saver option provided
    by the hardware vendor

  • Lync 2013 conference call issue

    Hi there.
Lync user, PC client... If he is logged on company VPN (soo he connects to LAN) or whether he is joining thru Edge server when we establish 1-to-1 video call it all Works fine, but the problem is when we are an Lync Online Meeting thru Outlook, he is able
to connect to it but he gets immediately disconnected after a couple of seconds (5-10 seconds). We are unable to find out the reason.
    One more strange thing.
A collegue of mine have created a Lync Online Meeting on calendar on this day. And when this problematic lync user tries to connect to this conference meeting he gets disconnected (and no event errors... just some warnings with error code 0). Even if
we as presenters connected to that meeting thry to invite him thru lync invite people, the situation is the same.
But if I do a test lync online meeting and send it thru calendar, then on this test meeting he is able to connect.
It seems like this user is unable to connect to meeting which were organized "in the past". Very strange and dont know where to take a look for the root of the problem.
    Our configuration:
We have 2 front end servers STD in pool pairing.
One edge pool with two edge serevrs.
And TMGproxy server for meet now links and mobile clients.

This will help you to understand to identify where, how call works then start digging the issue. Please refer Lync Server 2013 Architecture diagram

  • Lync 2013 Office 365 - Can't Sign in

    Hi,
Using Office 365 and Lync 2013.
Windows 7 64bit machine (New) Only built a couple of days ago.
I keep getting the following error
I have 2 machines next to eachother, one works perfect with Lync and signs in fine, the other does not and gets the erro above.
I also have another 3 newly built machines and they are having exactly the same issue.
When I get this message there is an Event as follows
The description for Event ID 0 from source MSOIDSVC.EXE cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
InitializeSvcAPI failed with hr = 0x80048883
I can sign into Office 365 fine, and use all the funcationality.
    I have tried the following
    Reimage machine - No Success
Uninstall office 2013 - No Success
Removed By licence from Office 365 - No Success
Tried loggin in using the local admin account rather than Domain - No success
I have also tried installing the Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant - No Success
As you can probably tell, im not having much success.
    Any Ideas?

    Hi there,
It really sounds like network connectivity issues, like firewall or DNS.
Have you tried to connect the clients from another network?
Additionally, have you been trough this help document?

  • Lync Sign in Issue

    Currently this is my setup.
Lync Front End Pool - Consist of 4 Front End Servers
Lync Back End - Clustered SQL Server
Lync Edge Pool - Consist of 2 Load Balanced Edge on the DMZ
    1 x Hardware Reverse Proxy
Currently Certificate wise i am using:
Front End: Lync Internal Cert for Internal Services and GoDaddy Wildcard Cert for External Services
Edge: Edge Internal Cert and GoDaddy Wildcard Cert
    Reverse Proxy: GoDaddy Wildcard Cert
*Problem for me so far is GoDaddy Wildcard Cert doesn't support adding SAN so the SAN is currently *.domain.com not sure if this is the root of the problem.
    Issue:
I am able to connect to my Lync via Lync 2013 Mobile App on my iPhone and chat with no problem
However when i try logging in to Lync via my Lync 2013 Client on a External Network (Non Domain Joined)Error States: The Server is temporarily unavailable. If the problem continues, please contact your support team.
But i am able to connect to Lync via Lync 2013 Client on a Internal Network with a Domain Joined PC.
    Tried running the Testconnectivity:
Lync Autodiscover Web Service Remote Connectivity Test: All Pass
Lync Server Remote Connectivity Test: Failed
Testing the SSL certificate to make sure it's valid.
The SSL certificate failed one or more certificate validation checks.
    Additional Details
    Elapsed Time: 473 ms.
    Test Steps
The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer is attempting to obtain the SSL certificate from remote server sip.domain.com on port 443.
The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer wasn't able to obtain the remote SSL certificate.
    Additional Details
The certificate couldn't be validated because SSL negotiation wasn't successful. This could have occurred as a result of a network error or because of a problem with the certificate installation.
    Elapsed Time: 455 ms.
Do i need to change the certificate? or is this error mainly a connection/port/firewall issue on my servers

    Hi,
It is not supported to use wildcard certificate for Lync Edge Server external interface. You need to use a public SAN certificate with the SAN in the link below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398519.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
For wildcard certificate, you can use in the following server role:
Reverse proxy.   Wildcard SAN entry is supported for Simple URL (meet and dialin) publishing certificate.
Reverse proxy.   Wildcard SAN entry is supported for the SAN entries for LyncDiscover on the publishing certificate.
Wildcard SAN entry is supported for Simple URLs (meet and dialin) and for SAN entries for LyncDiscover and LyncDiscoverInternal in Director web components.
Front End Server (Standard Edition) and Front End pool (Enterprise Edition). Wildcard SAN entry is supported for Simple URLs (meet and dialin) and for SAN entries for LyncDiscover and LyncDiscoverInternal
    in Front End web components.
Exchange Unified Messaging (UM).   The server does not use SAN entries when deployed as a stand-alone server.
Microsoft Exchange Server Client Access server.   Wildcard entries in the SAN are supported for internal and external clients.
Exchange Unified Messaging (UM) and Microsoft Exchange Server Client Access server on same server.   Wildcard SAN entries are supported.

  • Lync 2013 Clients prompting repeatedly for credentials for calendar data from outlook

Our Exchange server had crashed recently (nothing major) and a reboot of the CAS server resolved the issues. However since then all our domain computers with Lync 2013 clients are prompting for credentials for calendar data from outlook. We would but in
our domain credentials but it still asks. It would sometime ask once a day or sometimes repeatedly throughout the day.
I have look on the forums and tried fixes that included: editing IIS Autodiscover and ESW to use NTLM first , rebuilt lyncs cache in app data etc and none seems to resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Note: Our Lync 2013 environment is internal only. Only users on domain computers can access the service. We do use a proxy server here for internet but I do not believe Lync is going through the proxy since its internal to our network only. This is NOT happing
to our users with the Lync 2010 client.

Please update your Lync client with the latest version.

  • Lync 2013 Logon Failing (HTTP status code 500) No valid security token

    Hello there,
I'm in the process of deploying Lync 2013.  I have the pool deployed and everything is at least running.  I can access the control panel and provision users.  However when I try to logon to the Lync Client I get a DNS error.  The DNS
error appears to be misleading and is a result of the earlier auto-detection methods failing.
However using the Lync Connectivity Analyzer I get a "No valid security token." error.  This doesnt matter if I use auto-detection or manual pointing the Connectivity Analyzer to the pool servers.

Im a bit stumped where to go next.
    Thanks.

Manually entering the server also fails and does not provide much to help "We're having trouble connecting to the server. If this continues, please contact your support team."
I found that each time I try to logon it generates a Schannel Error on the server.  "A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 51.
The Windows SChannel error state is 1106."
There seems to be a lot more information on that than the previous "Internal Error" message I was trying to deal with.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/41718327-203f-445f-8657-87b0a8545ead/lync-2013-client-signin-issue-with-lync-2013-server?forum=lyncprofile
Actually I just found the Lync Server Front-End is stuck "starting" so that would explain why I cannot login.  However I re-issued my certificate to make sure the primary CN matched "lync.domain.tld" and it still wont start.
    https://expertslab.wordpress.com/2014/04/23/lync-server-2013-front-end-service-stuck-on-starting/
I think my problem is the certificate.  I have been trying to use selfSSL7 to generate the certificate for testing but it does not support creating SAN entries so I have entered all the FQDNs as CN entries.
Im going to get another method to generate the self-signed certificate for testing.

  • Lync 2013 IM (OWA) Exchange integration - Only works internally

    Hi Everyone
I have followed this tutorial which details how to integrate Lync with Exchange OWA:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13168.integrating-exchange-2013-owa-and-lync-server-2013.aspx#Acessando_o_OWA
Everything works perfectly internally, however when I browse to the external OWA website I cannot sign in with IM(inside OWA). My lync client works correctly over the internet as I can make video calls to other Lync users on my domain(application on an external
    PC)
Can anyone point me in the right direction? It must be something simple as it works internally. OWA works correctly externally. I can login, send/receive emails etc. I just can't get the IM to sign in
    (Edit):
    Current setup:
1x Lync 2013 server which is accessible from the internet via an ARR IIS server
1x Edge server which faces the internet
1x Exchange 2013 server which is accessible from the internet via an ARR IIS server
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi,
Did you get any error message when integrating Lync server and OWA?
Please update to the latest version for Lync server and Exchange and test again.
Please make sure that the certificate you use on the MBX server is trusted by the Lync 2013 server and vice versa. Typically this means using certificates from a mutually trusted CA, perhaps the enterprise CA
You can troubleshooting with the help of the link below of “Troubleshooting tips for Exchange 2013 OWA IM Integration to Lync 2013”:

  • Lync internal clients have issues with external meetings

We have a pretty easy Lync setup in our company, 2 FE servers in a Enterprise pool, one Edge server (in a pool. we will add edge servers later) and a Reverse proxy (Databases on a SQL server of course). Everything seems to be working well internally. We
have not deployed Enterprise voice yet but that is coming later. Our issue is when our internal clients try to join a meeting from another company. They can join the meeting and IM but as soon as they try to start Voice, they get kicked out of the call. Internal
meetings work fine with voice and video. They can join the meeting using Lync Web App but that is not a satisfactory solution for this. The company that hosted the meeting said users from other companies can join with the lync client without issue. I am a
remote employee and I can join using audio and video from my home. I have tried tracing the issue with the lync client logs but they make little sense to me. My question is, how does the information flow from internal clients to an external meeting> Is
it through the AV service in the Edge?
We have opened the firewalls wide open as a test (closed again of course) and it does not seem to be a firewall issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

To both of you, thanks but the articles do not help me. We can host meetings in our Lync 2013 organization without issue and it seems that others from outside can join with either Lync client or LWA. Our remote users connect via Lync client without a VPN
and have no issues with IM, Audio, video or sharing. The issue is connecting to another companies Lync meeting from inside our network. You can connect but as soon as you try to enable audio, you get kicked out. I have seen another post that describes the
issue but there is no solution there either. As I said in the original post, we ran a test where we temporarily opened both the internal and external firewalls wide open for the Edge and Reverse Proxy servers and it had no effect whatsoever so I conclude it
probably is not a firewall issue. Since Edwin verified what I believed in that the communication from the internal clients does go through our companies Edge server when joining a meeting with another company, it leads me to believe that this is
a setup issue with the Edge server but I have followed the setup documents and nothing seems out of place. Our edge server is a virtual server. I  am wondering if this could be related to it or maybe this is just the way things are. Can anyone
tell me that their internal users can join a meeting hosted by another company? We have open federation setup at this time and since the company that hosted the meeting claims to have had users from other companies in meetings without issue, I assume their
    SRV records work.

  • Lync 2013 Edge replication not working

hi, I have a Lync 2013 Edge replication issue - it is simply not working.
    UpToDate           : False
    ReplicaFqdn        : LyncEdge.contoso.com
I have already checked the following:
    1) telnet from FEP servers to the Edge sever on port 4443 is working
    2) Certificates are installed correctly - Lync Federation, Voice/Video to Skype, Lync Mobile is all working fine.
    3) Replication traffic checking showing the following error in XDS logs:
(000000000126DB35)[FileTransferTask(11, 9/03/2015 2:44:24 PM): {TASK_NOT_STARTED, fromReplica, [lyncedge.contoso.com, HttpsWebService, 4443], 0}] Failed to copy files from replica. Exception: [System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: The HTTP

I have checked certificate stores: there are only 34 certificates in the Root folder and the SendTrustedIssuerList reg. key has been configured, which did not solve the issue.
Any idea how to troubleshoot this or possible root causes?

Try Test-CsComputer on the Frontend Servers and the Edge Servers. This should check Windows Firewall exceptions are correct. Then check permissions on your Lync fileshare. You can also try to reinstall CMS Database with the following command (user must be
memeber of CsAdministrator group and sysadmin group of SQL Server)
    Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase -SqlServerFqdn CMS.FQDN
    -SqlInstanceName DBInstance -Verbose

  • Iphone and ipad Lync Client Randomly cannot sign in to Lync 2013 Server

I have a Lync 2013 environment that will allow all clients to connect from inside and outside of the network except for ios devices. iOS devices are sometimes able to connect and sometimes not. When they are not able to sign in they receive a message stating,
"An Error Occurred in Lync. Please retry. If the problem persists, contact your support department"
I have run tests using the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer and all tests come back green.  I have also used the Lync Connectivity Analyzer and get the results below:

Starting the requirement tests for Lync Mobile 2013 App
Starting tests for Mobility (UCWA) service
Completed tests for Mobility (UCWA) service
Your deployment meets the minimum requirements for Lync Mobile 2013 App.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to go next?  Troubleshooting an intermittent connection issue that only affects one mobile platform is tough...especially when all the testing tools say everything is configured correctly :)
    Thanks in advance!
    Tom

I have the same problem, and we have netscaller as revrse proxy solution and we have the required records created for mobility.
with lync2010 mobility it is working fine, but with lync 2013 mobiltity we have intermittent issue with error e2-3-33 error
    raghu
I had the same problem (e2-3-33 on mobile devices at random times) and it turns out it was McAfee antivirus causing the UCWA service to crash repeatedly. The workaround for it is outlined in the below blog entry I found as well as the below Microsoft document.
Long story short you want to run  follow the steps outlined in the workaround section below (I copied it from the linked MSFT document)

Enter the following command, and then press Enter:
    appcmd set config /section:applicationPools /[name='LyncUcwa'].processModel.shutdownTimeLimit:0.00:00:30
To confirm the changes from steps 2–3, enter the following command, and then press Enter:
    appcmd list apppools lyncucwa /config
The following information should be returned to the console to confirm the update to the LyncUcwa application pool
    settings:
    <add name="LyncUcwa" autoStart="true" managedRuntimeVersion="v4.0" managedPipelneMode="Integrated" startMode="AlwaysRunning">
    <processModel identityType="NetworkService" idleTimeout="00:00:00" shutdownTieLimit="00:00:30" />
    <recycling disallowOverlappingRotation="true">
