Lync 2013 Stress and performance tool - VoIP calls
I want to test only VoIP calls using the Stress and Performance tool. Does the tool make real SIP calls to the Front End server? It seems like its only simulating a VoIP connection and not doing a real SIP call --I don't see the SIP SDP setup
or RTP media stream. Please confirm this.
I configured the Load Configuration Tool ( UserProfileGenerator.exe ) to only use VoIP and configured for Load Level: medium. I only see between 2 and 4 Voip calls in progress at any given time. How can I increase the calls to 50+ simultaneous
calls?
For the UC/PSTN Gateway test, it says I need to run this on 2 clients. How does this work? I ran the RoutingRules.ps1 script, and it changed the voice routes and broke the current routing. This is a lab setup, so I'm only setup with
4 digit dialing between all clients and an Asterisk trunk. It doesn't seem like this will work unless I change to E.164 numbers for everything. Can someone share more information on configuring this?
Thanks,
Jeff
The tools can only create users, contacts, and distribution lists, and simulate user load.
Please check the Number of Users you specified in Common Configuration, you can check

How to Generate 250 Users Conference using Lync 2013 Stress and Performance Tool
How to Generate 250 Users N-way IM Conference using Lync 2013 Stress and Performance Tool.
Please Let know the configurations to generate the XMLs. We are not able to create more than 70 users N-way IM conference though during configuration, we opted for 300 users conference for Large Conference (in custom setting).
The tool somehow does not create the number of participants as indicated. Is there any way to troubleshoot why it's not generating the expected load.Hi,
Would you please elaborate more about your Lync environment?
Please check if you meet the following configuration requirements:
Set the MaxMeetingSize option to 1000. (The default is 250.)
Set the AllowLargeMeetings option to True.
Set the EnableAppDesktopSharing option to None.
Set the AllowUserToScheduleMeetingsWithAppSharing option to False.
Set the AllowSharedNotes option to False.
Set the AllowAnnotations option to False.
Set the DisablePowerPointAnnotations option to True.
Set the AllowMultiview option to False.
Set the EnableMultiviewJoin option to False.

Lync 2013 Client and Outlook 2010
Hi, I installed Lync 2013 (FE and Edge server). I am able to talk but still I need to buy suitable certificate in order to access from outside. Rest of the network is as follow. SBS 2011 with exchange 2010, clients have Office 2010.
Problems that I noticed are:
- If in Calelendar there is appointment, Lync client shows still available
- Lync meeting button doesn't react when pressed.
Is Lync 2013 client backward compatible with older office/Exchange or not ?
For presence show doesn't integrate with outlook, Verify that the
Lync Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is installed and enabled in Microsoft Outlook.
For lync 2013 client compatible with office and Exchange, you can refer below link

Lync Stress and performance test - DTMF
Hi all,
I found the below parameters in the CAA xml file generated by the LSS tool.
<ConfIdEntryDelayInSec>15</ConfIdEntryDelayInSec>
<PlayParticipantName>true</PlayParticipantName>
<ParticipantNamePlayDurationInSec>45</ParticipantNamePlayDurationInSec>
<ParticipantNameAudioFileName>Audio.wma</ParticipantNameAudioFileName>
<DtmfEntryPercentage>0</DtmfEntryPercentage>
<DtmfEntryIntervalInSeconds>600</DtmfEntryIntervalInSeconds>
<Dtmfs>*1,*6</Dtmfs>
<DtmfHardMutePercentage>0</DtmfHardMutePercentage>
<DtmfHardMuteDelayInSeconds>300</DtmfHardMuteDelayInSeconds>
<DtmfUnHardMuteDelayInSeconds>300</DtmfUnHardMuteDelayInSeconds>
<DtmfAdmitAllPercentage>0</DtmfAdmitAllPercentage>
<DtmfAdmitAllDelayInSeconds>300</DtmfAdmitAllDelayInSeconds>
Based on the DTMF parameters, am i correct in saying that generic DTMF inputs can be stress tested, but there isn't an option to enter conference ID's of manually created conferences via the tool ?
Thanks

Lync 2013 stops responding when making audio calls
Lync 2013 desktop client in Windows 8.1 connected to Lync Server 2010
From my office workstation (Windows 7, Lync 2010 client, completely different hardware), from inside the firewall, I don't have any problems (IM, audio, conference, video, desktop sharing all work 100%). At home, I haven't been able to make PC calls.
I can see the status of my contacts in Lync, and contact them through IM, but as soon as I try to make an audio call, Lync stops responding. I can, on occasion, connect and can receive audio, but I cannot be heard on the other end.
To place audio calls, I connect to my office workstation through remote desktop - the audio quality is terrible but it works.
I'm testing various configurations using the "Check Call Quality" function under Tools > Audio Device Settings. I can hear a couple of beeps, or even a ring tone, once, but then it crashes again. Waiting 10 to 15 minutes, it still
does not respond.
I am using Lync 2013 because 2010 wasn't available through MS Office HUP. I checked the compatibility list, and I didn't think there would be a conflict between the two versions.
Would downgrading Lync to 2010 help?
I am not exactly a Lync expert, so I may have some of the setup wrong. I'm hoping it's as simple as a server/connection setting that I've missed. I'm using Automatic Configuration under Advanced Connection Settings.
Hardware specs:
DELL XPS 8500
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Realtek High-Definition ALC887 Audio
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe Audio Card
NVidia GeForce GTX 660 Graphics Card
According to Windows, all drivers are up to date.
I had a Logitech webcam installed. I disconnected it and restarted the computer, to make sure it wasn't affecting Lync.Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?
Did the issue happen when one endpoint is internal and the other is remote or also happen when two endpoint external the company?
If it possible, please try to use another computer login on Lync client 2013 at home.
Please double check if you have configured DNS entry for Lync server Edge A/V service.
Here is a similar case may help you:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/522e7f53-d0d4-4b08-9917-45b80a292963/lync-2010-external-voice-calls-do-not-complete-call-failed-to-establish-due-to-a-media?forum=ocsedge
Please also double check the Edge external A/V port UDP 3478, TCP 50,000-59,999 and UDP 50,000-59,999 and make sure they are opened.
What’s more, you can troubleshooting Edge server with the help of the link below:

Hi,
Im currently working with my client to upgrade their 2010 Lync environment to Lync 2013 with Enterprise voice.
The existing environment is very basic with a 2010 FE pool with only one server (no idea why they didn't just go for Standard ?!), in addition to this there is a single edge server providing external access and federation services.
So I have my design document pretty much their with regards to 2013 and introducing enterprise voice. Its designed for 1000 users and HA is a requirement. They only have one datacentre so DR is not an option.
My solution consists of a single FE pool with 3 enterprise edition servers, 2 Mediation servers, 2 Edge servers and a SBC to connect to the contact centre which is staying on the old phone system for now. VOIP will be provided by an external SIP provider.
We will be taking advantage of DNS load balancing for FE and Edge access and using a reverse proxy solution to load balance HTTP/HTTPS traffic. The customers DB team wish to deploy a 2 node SQL 2012 Cluster as opposed to mirroring so I am taking their lead
on that.
Ive recently been reading about pairing Lync 2013 Standard edition. Would that provide the same (or similar) resiliency to the solution I have proposed? Also for the amount of users I am talking here, do I even need to separate the mediation server role
from the front end?
One final question, can the backend SQL DB, monitoring and archiving DB be located on the same SQL server?
Thanks in advance!Hi, agree with Cro's statement regarding the consideration for collocating the mediation server role (particularly if you have an SBC with media bypass enabled for your environment).
Regarding the pool pairing HA vs DR scenario, I always quote myself answering that;
http://www.gecko-studio.co.uk/dont-play-with-fire-play-with-pool-pairing-configuring-testing/
"Pool Pairing is a disaster recovery (DR) mechanism that was introduced with Lync Server 2013. With two pools in a paired relationship, we are afforded resilience in the form of automated voice failover, and manual failover of CMS and User
Data between those two pools in the event of a pool failure. Each pool will also act as a backup registrar for the other. But lets iron something out before we go any further – Pool Pairing is not a High Availability (HA) solution, despite how
often you might read this in one format or another. By definition alone, the services that a highly available platform provide should remain completely unaffected in the event of any given component in that environment failing. End users are blissfully
unaware of any problem, and are able to perform every single action as they normally would without the need for manual administrator intervention. As we’ll discuss, Pool Pairing does require manual intervention in the event of a disaster or Front
End Pool failure, and the end users will definitely notice the outage. As such Pool Pairing falls short of the aforementioned definition, and should be classed as a DR measure rather than an HA one."
Kind regards
Ben

No contacts in Lync 2013 client and not appearing in others contact lists
Hello all,
I hope someone might be able to help out with this problem, I've been at it for weeks with no luck. I've migrated from Lync 2010 to 2013. All users have been successfully migrated and everything is working for them, except for one user (which i me unfortunately).
When I sign into Lync from any device (desktop, laptop, windows phone, iphone) I do not see any contacts in my organization, but I can find any of the contacts if i search for them. I also don't appear in anyone else's contact list, but they can find me if
they search.
I have tried disabling and removing my account from Lync server, uninstalling and reinstalling the Lync client on my machine, cleaning up all the Lync folders and registry keys on my machine. Nothing seems to get me any closer to getting this fixed.
I did find a discussion
here that is exactly the problem I'm having, but I don'e see a solution there either.
Has anyone else seen this before? Any suggestions or ideas would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance!I am afraid your Lync account lose the user data contact list when you move user from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013.
Please try to move the user back to Lync server 2010 to check if the contact list is stored.
You can use the tool DBIMPEXP.exe to back up specific user’ data from Lync Server 2010 and import the data to Lync Server 2013 with the command Import-CSUserData which is introduced in Lync Server 2013.
Before you import the data, you need to use the command Convert-CSUserData to convert exported user data to the data format used by Microsoft Lync Server 2013.

In Topology is registred: LyncFE.company.local
Default SIP domain is company.com
2. Edge Server - All in one server sing by our Internal CA not trusted in internet with Subject Alternative Names: sip.company.local, sip.company.com, LyncEDGE.company.com
In Topology is registred: LyncEDGE.company.local
3. Reversed Proxyand NAT and firewall setup our firewall with Port Translating
LyncEDGE.comapny.local have asigned by NAT public IP Adres 10.10.10.10
LyncFE.company.local have asingned by NAT public adres IP 10.10.10.11
Incoming traffic for 10.10.10.10 and 10.10.10.11 Lync ports TCP/UDP from documentation
Outgoing traffic for 10.10.10.10 (LyncEDGE) on TCP 5061 need for federation
4. DNS setup
We have split domain and DNS like this:
Company.local (Internal DNS) and Company.com (External DNS)
DNS Records in our External DNS:
LyncEDGE.company.com record A 10.10.10.10
LyncFE.company.com record A 10.10.10.11
sip.comapny.com TLS --> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
_sipfederationtls._tcp.company.com -> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
_sipinternaltls._tcp.company.com --> -> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
lyncdiscover.company.com --> 10.10.10.10
In this setup works for now: Lync Audio Video, Mobile access. And now we trying setup Federation and Push notyfication and when we testing we get 504 form serwer.
Test-CsFederatedPartner -TargetFqdn lyncedge.company.local (This is the name of our LyncEDGE server in topology)-Domain microsoft.com

All is ok but still timeout, where look for problem on my site or partner site. He have 3 IP LAN adreses on Edge NAT on one public

Great follow up thanks!.
Seems i am near to solution.
I used web site url https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com it pass all test,
When i use to test using tool it goes to my local fqdn and says unable to resolve.
An error occurred while sending the request.
The remote name could not be resolved: 'lync1.hosting.mydomain.local'
When i open this url lyncdiscover_contoso.com it give both internal and extral url.
Which is this {"_links":{"self":{"href":"https://lync1.hosting.mydomain.local/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root?originalDomain=haxxess.com"},"user":{"href":"https://lync01.externaldomain.com/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root/oauth/user?originalDomain=external.com"},"xframe":{"href":"https://lync01.externaldomain.com/Autodiscover/XFrame/XFrame.html"}}}
I am using lync 2013, with no tmg for publishing, internal web servie name is empty overrite and extranal is lync01.externaldomain.com
So as article says if i see internal url If the internal web services URL is identified, the web publishing rule is incorrect and is bridging the connection to port 443
instead of port 4443 for the Lync external web services.
Where do i have to change this in topology under web service. can you please guide this last phase. -
Lync 2013 Std and Ent Edition Edge co-existence
Hi all,
I'm seeing an odd issue with our current migration. We have the following:
Site1: Lync 2013 Standard with Edge server.
Site 2: Lync 2013 EE with 3 FEs, mirrored DBs and no Edge server deployed
All users live on Site1 and all is ok. Site 1 contains the CMS & PChat DB's
I'm re-using the current Edge server in Site1 as I need to retain the same URLs at the moment - the long term plan will be to build up a new Edge pool in Site2 once Site1 has been decommed.
I'm planning to move a bunch of pilot users onto Site 2 in the next week, but I see the following issues when I move a couple of test accounts into the pool:
Can't start a "meet now" conference
Can't expand Disti Lists
Can't search for contacts - addressbook never seems to download
Can't see federated contacts
P2P IM & AV works fine.
Client logging from a user in the new EE pool shows the following errors when try to communicate with a federated partner:
ms-diagnostics: 1038;reason="Failed to connect to a peer server";fqdn="standardserver.corp.domain.local:5062";ip-address="172.20.130.32";peer-type="InternalServer";winsock-code="10061";winsock-info="The
peer actively refused the connection attempt";source="FEPool.corp.domain.local"
My initial thoughts that its something to do with firewalling but I can ping & telnet from the old Front End and Edge over to the new FE pool (which are geographically separated and on different subnets) so I would have thought media should be able to
flow between the 2 sites without a problem. The FE pool has a HLB sitting in front of it.
I can also see our Exchange server ok from the new FE pool too.
Looking for any suggestions on what else I can look at.Hi,
From your description, did you mean you don’t move anything from Standard pool to Enterprise pool (just move test users to Enterprise pool to test the function)?
Did you test internal or external of your corporation?
Please create a new Lync account on Lync 2013 Enterprise pool to check if the issue also happen.
Please check if CMS replication has update to the latest status with the help of following cmdlet:
Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus.
If the status not to the latest status, you can invoke by the following cmdlet:
Invoke-CsManagementStoreReplication

Hi Eason,
I have 2 laptops I'm testing with 2 different accounts that were initally provisioned on the new pool, one is connected to our corp LAN, the other is on our guest wifi to simulate an external connection.
CMS replication looks ok (servernames changed for obvious reasons!):

Deploying Lync 2013 client and SCCM Detection method
So I am deploying the stand alone Lync 2013 client via SCCM 2012 R2, I have used OCT to create a .MSP, and I am trying to import it into SCCM. However, I am curious as to what others are using for the Detection method? Normally I would just
use the MSI code, but since there is no single MSI, that is not possible with this particular version? I'm not sure what the best method would be, Option 1 is to find a registry key that is installed by Lync, or Option 2, use a file, maybe Lync.exe under
the Program Files? From the testing I've done Lync creates this reg location...
HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Office>15.0>Lync
Try using one of the keys in there, or you could use the file version but not sure if this would change with updates. -
Lync 2013 Setup and configure HELP
Hi,
i am having some trouble with my lync 2013 setup. i have configured lync to a stage were all users can connect to lync being inside or outside my network, we can send chats messages to each other but only if we are on the same LAN can we use the video, audio
and app sharing and desktop sharing. also i need to know how do i get my lync to communicate with other companies.
ok here is my setup.
ISP Cisco 877 router with 5 Static ips connects to my TMG 2010 (external Nic) internal nic connects to my LAN. all other devices plug into same LAN my TMG is forwarding ports to my exchange and helpdesk system. i have created all internal and external dns
entries. if i need an egde server were do i place this server.
network details below:
5 X ip: X.X.92.2
internal ip: X.X2.1 /24
please could someone assist me.
Kind Regards
Clemy
Cell : +27 72 864 0529Hi There,
indeed your TMG Server should be equipped with 32 Network Interfaces as follows :
External
DMZ
Internal
the Lync Edge Server should be equipped with 2 Network Interfaces, usually the Edge server is placed inside a perimeter network which consists in 2 edge firewalls, one External and another one is Internal. please check the following link for detailed information
about the various Edge topology that are supported.
However you can always have a DMZ like your scenario which consists in a single firewall and connect the Edge server ends as follows
one interface to the TMG DMZ interface and one interface to the Internal Interface although this way you will be only protecting traffic from the DMZ interface.
kindly note that in case you chose to implement a secondary firewall take into consideration that the network relation from the the Edge internal interface to the internal LAN via the secondary firewall should be a route relation. since this is only the
supported scenario.
as for the reverse proxy you can still use the existing TMG as a reverse proxy since all published web components are actually located on the lync front-end server located on company LAN.

Charbel Hanna

Disable Lync 2013 Client and Exchange 2010 Integration
Is it possible to disable integration to Exchange 2010 from a Lync 2013 client? I found a key that works for Lync 2010 by setting HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\PersonalContactStoreOverride to 1. That does not seem to do anything
to a Lync 2013 client, nor have I been able to find a solution to disable it via Registry/GPO. Some things I have found seem to indicate that key does is not used by a Lync 2013 client but that is somewhat speculation. Can someone tell me if there
is a key to disable this connectivity and disable it like what the key above does for 2010? Thank you!Create a new-csclientpolicyentry -name "PersonalContactStoreOverride" -value "1" and assign it to a Client Policy

Confused with Lync 2013 Autodisocver and mobile app
Hello
i am confused about some stuff related to lync 2013 client discovery and mobility:
1) internal client will try to resolve lyncdisocverinternal , then why on the internal CA request i can see lyncdiscover &lync disocoverextrnal?
2)for auto discover to work from extrnal does it look for the A record "sip.mydomian.com" or its searching for lyncdisocver?
3) does Mobility (client for ipad or Andriod) try to connect to edge server if if its located on the internal network or it can understand if its on the internal wifi to use internal and its outside the network it will use external?
please helpAll Mobility Service traffic goes through the reverse proxy, regardless of where the origination point is—internal or external.
The Lync Server 2013 Autodiscover Service returns all Web Services URLs for the user's home pool, including the Mobility Service (Mcx and UCWA) URLs. However, both the internal Mobility Service URL and the external Mobility Service URL are associated with
the external Web Services FQDN.
You can run the command Set-CsMcxConfiguration –ExposedWebURL internal.
The parameter internal indicates whether the URL used by the Autodiscovery Service is accessible to users both inside and outside the organization firewall (External) or only accessible to users inside the firewall (Internal).
If you set to internal, you can’t connect externally.

Lync 2013 installation and problems
I have gone through the entire setup and have a somewhat working installation. Now my problem is that when I sign in two users to the Lync 2013 Basic, they log in fine but it doesn't show any users online.
when I add a contact from my organization, it does match any of the test users that I have setup
Not sure what to check to find out where the issue isWhen you say they log in fine, but it doesn't show any users online, do the two Lync basic users see each other's presence?
What do you see when you add a contact from your organization? Are the test users you created not in the list? For this I'd suggest running update-csaddressbook from PowerShell on the Lync server, wait 5 minutes, exit Lync (not just sign out,
make sure you've fully exited) and trash the profile by deleting the %userprofile%\appdata\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected] folder.
