Lync backup pool - Enterprise pool to Standard pool

Can I use backup pool feature (voice resiliency) between Lync Ent pool and Lync STD pool ?

Best Practice/Supported scenarios: Pair pools of the same edition, as well as matching physical to physical or virtual to virtual:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204697.aspx
"keep in mind that only the following pairings are supported:
Enterprise Edition pools can be paired only with other Enterprise Edition pools. Similarly, Standard Edition pools can be paired only with other Standard Edition pools.
Physical pools can be paired only with other physical pools. Similarly, virtual pools can be paired only with other virtual pools.
Neither Topology Builder nor topology validation will prohibit pairing two pools in a way that does not follow these recommendations. For example, Topology Builder allows you to pair an Enterprise Edition pool with a Standard Edition pool. However, these types
of pairings are not supported."

will be appreciated fro right answers.
    Thanks

    hi sb,
    Thanks for your response.
1)i did clone database from enterprise edition to standard edition, no invalid objects found ( from production to development)
    2) i did restoration using RMAN backupsets from ENterprise edition to standard edition , no invalid objects found (from production to development)
    3) i did cold backup from enterprise edition to standard edition , no invalid objects found ( test machine)
i already checked this before, but here mentioned as to use traditional export / import instead of expdp/impdp. ?

  • CMS Migration - Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 & Pool Pairing

    Hi all,
Question regarding CMS installation when migrating away from Lync 2010.
Here's a brief overview of topology
    - Lync 2010 Pool in Data Centre 1
    - Lync 2013 Pool #1 in Data Centre 1
    - Lync 2013 Pool #2 in Data Centre 2
    - Lync 2013 Pools are paired
    Consider the following
     - CMS located on SQL Backend server for Lync 2010 Pool
     - CMS database installed on SQL Back end for Lync 2013 Pool #1.  CMS is moved to this location
Now for correct pool pairing and failover capabilities I would assume that
     - CMS database needs to also be installed on SQL back end for Lync 2013 Pool #2
Once this is done then Lync 2013 Pool #2 Front Ends should replicate back into the CMS stored on the back end SQL database for pool #2?  Nothing else would need to be done?  As soon as it's installed its now a backup?
If I'm reading into this correctly the following from TechNet is basically telling me to do this?
When you establish a pool pairing that includes the pool hosting the Central
Management store, a backup Central Management store database is set up in the
backup pool, and Central Management store services are installed in both pools.
At any point in time, one of the two Central Management store databases is the
active master, and the other is a standby. The content is replicated by the
Backup Service from the active master to the standby.
    Thanks,
    paul.

Correct, when you enable pool pairing on Pool A - if it's a CMS server - it will prompt you to create the CMS database on Pool B. If you move CMS into a pool that is already pool paired, my experience is that CMS doesn't get created on Pool B because the
creation only happens during the pool pairing setup. Thanks -Richard

  • Solaris 11.1 x86, lots of "snapshot already exists" in backup pool

    Experts,
This is strange. I have been using time-slider and a synchronization script every 15 minutes since the OpenSolaris days. The recent update to 11.1 has caused the backup pool randomly to refuse to delete phantom snapshots during a weekly trim of the pool. Just now I saw several errors during a snapshot delete:
    deleting: backup/export/site@zfs-auto-snap_daily-2012-11-05-14h48
cannot destroy 'backup/export/site@zfs-auto-snap_daily-2012-11-05-14h48': snapshot already exists
The solution is to export then import the pool, but this happened earlier today and I could not export, even with the -f flag because the pool was busy (?). I suspended the synchronization and could find no processes with open files on mount points. I settled on a reboot.
Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a less disruptive way to recover?
Also, I have noticed that CPU utilization in pool and I/O operations is markedly higher on 11.1 vs. 11. Server is HP DL585 with 4x dual core Opteron 8216. Before the 11.1 upgrade, scrubbing three pools could sustain 400MB/s throughput with about 30% CPU utilization. After 11.1, the scrub will consume about 70% CPU with 320-ish MB/s throughput. Nothing else has changed. Similar effects happen during the regular snapshot synchronizations.
Any insight on either issue is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marty

I also get this - it's quite annoying.
    This may help:
    #!/bin/sh
    svcadm disable -t time-slider
    for f in `zfs list -H -t snapshot -o name`; do zfs release -r org.opensolaris:time-slider-plugin:zfs-send $f; done
    svcadm clear svc:/application/time-slider/plugin:zfs-send
    svcadm enable time-slider

  • Is SQL Server Express 2012 the same as Enterprise, BI and Standard?

We are a software company in the process of modifying code to work with SQL Server 2012 & 2014.  We are doing development work and testing on SQL Server Express 2012. (We plan to move to SQL Server Express 2014, soon.)  Is SQL Server Express
the same code as Enterprise, BI and Standard?   Will our tests and dev work be valid?  Should the need arise at a customer site, will SQL Server Express database migrate to Enterprise, BI or Standard?

    Hello,
Yes, you can use detach/attach or backup/restore. Alternatively, you may want to perform and edition upgrade
of an existing SQL Server instance when possible.

  • Difference between Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition for Oracle RAC

    Hi,
In our current setup we have RAC on standard edition and client is now planning to go for Enterprise Edition but not yet decide because of cost.
Is there any difference between Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition ?
They told me to first install Enterprise Edition and then will move to Standard Edition if they can't get the EE license so in that case do i have to re-install Grid infrastructure for standard edition?

There is no "Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is only Grid Infrastructure 11gR2.
About Oracle Clusterware (Grid Infrastructure) licensing.
At least one of the servers in the cluster is licensed for Oracle Database (SE1, SE, or EE)
A cluster is defined to include all the machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and Voting Disk.

    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/comparisons/index.html
Note : Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), is an option to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition and included with Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition (on clusters with a maximum of 4 sockets).
If you move to Oracle EE you must purchase a separate licence to use RAC option
    About Installation:
Nothing changes on your current setup of Grid Infrastructure 11.2
Just install a new fresh installation of Oracle Database (On current clusterware) chosing E.E during Install. Configure the database/services to start from this new ORACLE HOME. Nothing change on Database all previous backup and features used still unchanged. Using this new Oracle Home new features are enabled to be used by your databases.

  • Configuring Backups in Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.2.0

    Hello,
I am trying to configure backups in Enterprise Manager. Whenever I try to provide the host credentials, I receive the following:
"Connection to host as user Administrator failed: ERROR: Wrong
    password for user"
This machine is a primary domain controller, and therfore has no local accounts. All accounts are through the domain via Active Directory. I came across a plug-in for Enterprise Manager for AD, but it is only for Windows Server 2003. Since I cannot authenticate locally for host credentials, how would I work around this in order to setup a backup schedule? Thanks.
    Neal A. Ferguson
    [email protected]

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this did not seem to resolve the issue, as I still received the error message when attempting to provide the Administrator's credentials. I also added the domain admin to the Log on locally option, but this did nothing as well. Is there something else that I need to put in to the fields when attempting to set up a backup job?

  • Differences between 8i enterprise and 8i standard edition

I have seen numerous discussions on whether 8i enterprise or 8i standard should be used in my division, can anyone point me to a source where I can get a comparision of the features between these two.
    null

I have installed Oracle 10 XE and it just seems so easy to work with. There's a GUI for everything. It does not have SQL Plus(that I've seen), but there's an area to type your commands into inside the program that helps administrator the Database. I could not find any documents on 9.2 so Im reading documents on Orcale 10 that I have downloaded from this site.
I am wanting to practice creating, removing, resizing tablespaces, creating databases, and other DBA things. I also want to have triggers functions and procedures working on it too. I wrote some in college against Oracle 8i.

  • Oracle 9i Enterprise - Oracle 9i Standard

그러므로 exp/imp에서
    transport tablespace

    ====================================================
    PURPOSE
    Introduction:
    <Note:112591.1>
Enterprise
Standard Edition
업그레이드 하기 CATALOG.SQL과 CATPROC.SQL (또는 EE Version 소프트웨어의
    Actions:
Export/Import 를 이용하는 것이다.
Enterprise

  • Lync Backup/Restore with SQL backup

Is it possible to backup and restore the XDS database (Lync topology and configuration information) using SQL database tools?  Technet is very confusing, it describes in great detail how to use cmdletts to export the configuration then back it up with
te regular backups.  But then at link for Backup - restore best practices  it states "The simplest and most commonly used backup type and rotation schedule is a full, nightly backup of the entire SQL Server database. Then, if restoration is necessary,
the restoration process requires only one backup and no more than a day’s data should be lost."
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202184.aspx
Best Practices for Backup and Restoration
To facilitate your back up and restoration process, apply the following best practices when you back up or restore your data:
Perform regular backups at appropriate intervals. The simplest and most commonly used backup type and rotation schedule is a full, nightly backup of the entire SQL Server database. Then, if restoration is necessary, the restoration process requires only
one backup and no more than a day’s data should be lost.
If you use cmdlets or the Lync Server Control Panel to make configuration changes, use the
Export-CsConfiguration cmdlet to take a snapshot backup of the topology configuration file (Xds.mdf) after you make the changes so that you won't lose the changes if you need to restore your databases.
Ensure that the shared folder you plan to use for backing up Lync Server 2010 has sufficient disk space to hold all the backed up data.
Schedule backups when Lync Server usage typically is low to improve server performance and the user experience.
Ensure that the location where you back up data is secure.
Keep the backup files where they are available in case you need to restore the data.
Plan for and schedule periodic testing of the restoration processes supported by your organization.
Validate your backup and restoration processes in advance to ensure that they work as expected.

  • Pool pairing : lync client doesn't reconnect to backup pool

    Hi
I'm currently testing lync 2013 failover via pool pairing. (IM only)
Once I stop the Frontend service however on the pool01 server, I get a notification on the lync client : "connection was lost. Reconnecting.."
However the lync client doesn't connect again (while it should reconnect with limited functionality)

    SRV records

1 with priority 10  and value _sipinternaltls._tcp.customer.com, which points to hostname pool2.customer.com
I've upgraded the lync client to the latest build to be sure.
Anyone knows where to look? Settings seem to be correct.

I've left all defaults regarding failover.
    something to add :
    * the servers are installed in the domain a.prod.customer.com
    * the sip addresses of all users are @customer.com
    * the users can be situated in the domain a.prod.customer.com, b.prod.customer.com or c.prod.customer.com
I've just tested and when I start a Lync client, I can see both SRV records popping up, so discovery of these records seem to work correctly.
When I stop the frontend server of the pool the user is on however, I don't see any redirect in the logs.
