  • Lync Client Crashes at Startup

I am having an issue with Lync  2013 32 bit. It crashes immediately at startup. The error code was referencing a fault with UCcapi.dll. I removed HP Skyroom but still have a problem, however it is now referencing a fault with kernelbase.dll.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013. I tried logging on as another user but get the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably the Lync update (KB2817465) that was released July 9. In my case I had a duplicate of it installed
    on my HP laptop.
Other people are reporting that after the update they also needed to update a Bluetooth driver in order to get Lync to work again.
Here is a similar thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/07a6ed04-afde-4ef8-8e38-aabf0d4782e2/lync-2013-client-crash-at-startup

  • Lync Client Crashes on Inbound Calls

    Hello,
We have a number of users (about half) complaining that Lync 2013 crashes when an inbound call comes in. We are running a fully patched Lync 2013 deployment with a fully patched Lync/Office 2013 deployment. Any suggestions would be helpful. It seems to especially
plague users connected to their CX700's, but this is not exclusively a problem they experience.

    Hi,
Would you tell us which model of audio and video device do you use?
Please switch an audio device to test the issue.
Please also un-plug CX700 to test the issue.
If the issue persists, please check event viewer for further troubleshooting.

We are having this on a few lync clients.  The crashes are at random, a few times per day.  Generally happens when the client is idle.  Windows 7 systems, with the latest version of the client. (15.0.4517.1504)Any ideas?

    Hi Everett.Chris,
Did you solve the issue with the suggestion Waqas105 provided?
Did you install Bluetooth on your computer? If yes, please remove it and test the issue again.
Please also make sure you remove all instances of the Lync 2013 Security Update KB2817465.
If the issue persists, please past the entire log or message when Lync client crashes so that we know which file cause the issue.

  • T440P [20AN] - Lync 2013 Crashing When Sharing Desktop - Intel Driver

    Hello,
After updating to the latest video drivers from the ThinkVantage Update Retriever, our Lync clients crash when sharing desktop on our T440P series and X240 series.  I noticed when I uninstall the video driver I am able to screen share without incident.  Also, if I update the driver from Windows Update I am able to share successfully.  We use the update retriever and thininstaller to install our drivers in our environment.  I have tried uninstalling the Lync updates all the way down to the base version and experience the same issue at every level.  It crashes 100% of the time when sharing desktop.  I have tested it on T440p machines in our environment that do not have the latest display driver, and no crashes occurred.  Here are the specifics:
    Thinkpad X240 [20AL]
    Thinkpad T440p [20AN]
    ThinkVantage Update Retriever 5.00.0007
    Thinkvantage Thin Installer 1.2.0010

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just as an updated to this:
I'm still waiting on updated drivers to fix the issue, however, there is a workaround.  If you disable Desktop Composition screen sharing will work.
Control Panel -> Performance and Information Tools -> Adjust Visual Effects -> Uncheck “Enable desktop composition

  • Lync Client 2013 64bit instantly crashes before sign-on || Office 2013 ProPlus 64bit & Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit

I have a problem with my Lync Client. It simply crashes before the sing-on with following error appearing in application log:
Faulting application name: lync.exe, version: 15.0.4623.1000, time stamp: 0x53728995

    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:
As the faulting module path is not pointing to a conflicting Bluetooth driver or anything, how to troubleshoot what software is conflicting this?
Needless to say I've done all basic steps; reinstalling the office, updating with all the latest Office & Windows patces, repairing it, tried it with another / empty user account, etc. This is a new machine with clean Windows installation without OEM
crippleware. Before I just uninstall everything but Office from this machine, how do I point a problem resulting a kernelbase.dll faulting?
Only clients "Starting..." screen is showing before the crash.

Please check if Word, Excel work correctly.
Check if Lync 2013 works on other computer installed using the same installation media.

I'm running Windows 8 64-bit, but Office 32-bit for compatibility reasons. Office 2010 and Lync 2010 worked beautifully. Other Office 2013 applications work fine. Lync 2010 client works fine as well. Only see this problem with Lync 2013.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot or correct?

    Hi,
Have you tried to remove Lync 2010 client and test it again?
How about the other machines? Please also log on the problem machine with another account and test it.
Please try to disable any local antivirus software to see if that fixes the issue.
Please remove Silverlight and reinstall it:

    Thanks in advance,

If you update your client to the most recent version, does the issue reoccur?
How many Singh's do you have at your company?  I'm curious if there's an active directory attribute that is returned with that user that the client really just doesn't like.  Can you go into Active Directory Users and Computers, select View->Advanced
then manually find Singh (don't search) and go to the Attribute Editor tab.  Do you see any attribute in there (not just Lync attributes) that seems to have any odd or escape characters?

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?
You can try to logon other Lync client on other computer with your Lync account as a test.
It may cause by the conflicts between the Lync client and some drivers or some third party programs installed on the computer.
Please check if you install Bluetooth utility on your computer? If yes, please remove it and test the issue again.
Please also run Clean Boot to disable thirty party services and then test again:

  • Lync 2013 crashes on start up.

My Lync 2013 client is crashing on start up.
I already tried to completely remove Office 2013 en re-install it, but that doesn't help. All Windows updates are installed.
Running as Administrator also doesn't solve the issue.
All other Office programs are working.
When I start Lync, after 2 seconds this happens:
I see this error on the Event viewer:
    I have a HP 8770w with Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit.
Office Professional Plus 2013, 64 bit version.

Try to update your Graphic Card drivers to the latest version

  • Lync 2013 Crashes When Transferring From Response Group

    Hello,
Seeing a very strange issue on a couple of our clients running Lync 2013.  Whenever they transfer a call from their response group Lync will crash.  Calls into their direct line will transfer just fine.  Here are two of the event logs we have
    seen from this.

We have tried a number of things this to get this working, but nothing has worked.
    Installed Office 2013 SP1
Completely re imaged the client's computers
    Deployed new Polycom Lync phones
Completely removed clients from their response group and the Lync server and added them back
I'm not sure where to go from here or what might be causing this.  I would appreciate any thoughts you might have.  Thank you!

By default, calls from Response Groups ignore call forwarding or simultaneous ring settings.

    Hi,Paul,
Have you tried to log on another Windows account and see if s/he can start the Lync client?
Would you please delete the sip profile folder for this user on the computer and try again? The Sip folder path is like below
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\[email protected]

  • Lync Client Search - Shows Non Lync Enabled Users

What is normal behavior - out of the box - for Lync 2010 and/or 2013 for the Lync Client search.  Is it to return all AD objects (or all GAL objects?) regardless if they are Lync enabled or not?  There is a bit of information here an there
on this but thought I'd post my specific question to end my torture.
We are in the process of migrating users from 2010 to 2013 (backend) and we initially setup the msRTC-GroupingID to limit our search but with this migration we are planning to clear this attribute to allow a search to return
all users and I notice that in doing so I see all objects reqardless if Lync enabled or not.  This is not so desirable but if it's the way it works then I will have accept and move on.  I read about using ABSconfig to alter this behavior
but for some reason this won't even run for me ... crashes right away upon opening running from FE server so even if I now got it to work my trust is shot for using this.
    Thanks all ...

Not sure I follow.  Assume you mean "the AD users with Lync ""NOT"" enabled should not be searched.
I look at the msRTCSIP attributes and they are not set and still i see them in my Lync search.  I am totally baffled by this.  I use a test Lync account with the GroupingID 'not set' and I see all accounts regardless if they are Lync enabled.
The ones I see in my search, that I am expecting NOT to see, do have the msRTCSIP attributes in AD object but they all show as 'not set' as I expect they should given they are not Lync enabled.
I must be missing something here, perhaps this is a 2013 thing?  I have a lab with 2010 that this doesn't seem to be happening in but it doesn't exactly replicate our production so don't want to use that as a trusted reference point going forward.
The AD msRTCSIP attributes compare across the two environments too which is even more baffling.  It's not clear what it is using to present NON enabled users in the Lync search.

  • User sip folder have many .cache files with 4kb and the folder is becoming full and Lync Client stops working

User sip folder have manu Mailitem&username&.cache files until folder is full and Lync client stops working.

    Hi,
You can try to change the Lync Profile name. After you do it, Lync will create a new Profile. The Lync Profile path is following:
    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync
If the issue persists, please repair Office 2013 and then test again.

  • Any roadmap to have to Lync client for Blackberry 10?

...with full feature support of course (phone, video, presence,...).
I know there are still some challenges like at current time with BB10 OS (like you must keep you app in an active frame), but these limitations will soon go away with the new OS version (http://devblog.blackberry.com/2013/05/blackberry-jam-headless-invoke/?CPID=E10C020,
new Background Services framework which allows developers to bundle a separate process with their application to run in the background without a UI)
The Lync for Mac version still lacks of some critical phone features not being implemented (delegate support, team-call group members, wireless QoS tagging 802.11e,...)

    Hi,
There is currently no Lync client available for Blackberry (RIM) devices. Sorry to say I also did not find any roadmap about lync for Blackberry 10.
