Lync client to Lync Mobility IM Session errors

We've had a few cases where:
User A PC locked, User A can IM User B from his mobile phone through Lync Mobility, and it sends to User B. If User B IM's User A back, User B gets an error (504). But from what I can tell, this error is a generic timed-out error.
With User A PC unlocked, he has to exit Lync on his mobile phone in order for User B to be able to successfully send IMs to User A.
We are on Lync 2010 server, using Lync 2013 client, using Lync Mobility 2010. This doesn't happen to everyone, (we have over 13k employees, but just a handful are experiencing issues).
It appears that Lync client and Lync Mobility are somehow conflicting with each other. I was able to replicate the issue one week, but the next my sessions worked out fine. My original thoughts were that there is some sort of setting on the mobile device,
but considering I had the issue one week, and the following week I was fine, I am doubting that to be the case. Also this is happening on both iOS and Android mobile devices. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi,
As the issue only happen for several users, please update to the latest version for the issued Lync clients and then test again.
Please also update to the latest version for Lync Server 2010 from Microsoft Website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/dn146015
Also you can refer to the link of “Technical Requirements for Mobility” in the link below:

  • Work flow from Lync client to Lync mobile client

    Hi,
    How does call flow from Lync client to Lync mobile client happens , how sign-in happens?  how call flow both A/V happens and IM  happens...?
    Please explain me i have some confusions.
    Thanks!!

    The following blog describe Lync mobile call scenarios:

    A/V call goes through Lync Edge Server while IM doesn’t.

    Hello,
    In our company we have deployed Lync 2013 Standard with last CU

    In Topology is registred: LyncFE.company.local
    Default SIP domain is company.com
    2. Edge Server  - All in one server sing by our Internal CA not trusted in internet with Subject Alternative Names: sip.company.local, sip.company.com, LyncEDGE.company.com

    3. Reversed Proxyand NAT and firewall setup our firewall with Port Translating

    LyncFE.company.local have asingned by NAT public adres IP 10.10.10.11
    Incoming traffic for 10.10.10.10 and 10.10.10.11 Lync ports TCP/UDP from documentation
    Outgoing traffic for 10.10.10.10 (LyncEDGE) on TCP 5061 need for federation
    4. DNS setup
    We have split domain and DNS like this:
    Company.local (Internal DNS) and Company.com (External DNS)
    DNS Records in our External DNS:
    LyncEDGE.company.com record A 10.10.10.10
    LyncFE.company.com record A 10.10.10.11
    sip.comapny.com TLS --> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
    _sipfederationtls._tcp.company.com -> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
    _sipinternaltls._tcp.company.com --> -> LyncEDGE.copmany.com
    lyncdiscover.company.com --> 10.10.10.10
    In this setup works for now: Lync Audio Video, Mobile access. And now we trying setup Federation and Push notyfication and when we testing we get 504 form serwer.

    But still i cant get working federation and push notyfication for mobile some one can advise where problem can be? I think problem is with our certyficate setup on EDGE server that is sing by our Internal CA not trusted in Internet.

    Hi, I exchanged root certyfikates with my partner. And now he can see my status, call Video, send IM to my all account but I can't do nothink I get 504, on my logs I see below:
    I tested
    telnet sip.partnerdomian.pl 5061 -- OK
    telnet sip.partnerdomian.pl 443-- ok
    nslookup _sipfederationtls._tcp.partnerdomian.pl --> sip.partnerdomian.pl port 5061

  • Lync client cannot connect to Exchange Server when accessing from outside (Internet) - please HELP!

    Hello,
    I have full representation of the Lync 2010 from Outside (i.e. Internet), but I still have small issue related to Lync-to-Exchange integration. Clients who is using Lync client from outside (i.e. Internet) cannot see Exchange-related information including
    Call Logs, Voicemail and Calendar information.
    Here is the experience and error messages that anyone will see when connecting to Lync server from Outside:
    And this is the error message that will be displayed on Lync phone edition devices (a.g. Polycom CX-700) when connected from Internet:
    If somebody can suggest what I can try I would appreciate this very much. I do believe that many other people have this issue as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi, we had this issue and I ended up logging a MS support job. Turns out it was the TMG rule/Auth method causing the issue.
    Job details:
    **Symptom:
    Lync Client External User are not able to retrieve the EWS URL
    **Troubleshooting:
    • We found External users are not able to Retrieve the EWS information in the Lync Client .
    • We found the below error in the ETL logs.We found for EWS request we are getting the  401 response
    HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized ( The server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web server is denied. Contact the server administrator.  )
    • TMG need pass through Authentication
    Public names are  autodiscover.domain.com and Outlook anywhere External FQDN  and paths are /ews/* and /autodiscover/*, OAB/*
    Users is All Users, and Delegation is "No delegation but client may authenticate directly" on the corresponding tabs of the publishing rule.
    This changes is required for Lync Client as Lync Client does not  work well with this BASIC authentication on TMG .
    • After  TMG engineer changed this settings in the TMG users are able to see EWS information.

  • Voice mails aren't showing in Lync client

    We have Lync 2010 server in Exchange 2007 environment.
    I have the voice message in outlook but it doesn't shows it in Lync client.
    Changes made...
    We powered off old two Exchange CAS servers and brought up two new CAS servers.
    EWS is deployed and in Lync configuration, it shows the same "EWS deployed"
    Conversation history folder, messages are getting saved.
    free/busy info working as expected.
    Voice messages aren't showing in Lync client and Lync status isn't getting changed, when outlook scheduled meeting. But Lync gets changing the status to In call, Conference Call, In Meeting when there is a Lync scheduled meeting.
    lync srv record are there in DNS
    any other record needs to be created for this issue? I mean to pull the EWS info from exchange?
    Funnyghost

    Lync requires Exchange EWS for this functionality. As mentioned above check if EWS has a status of "OK", if it doesnt check that Exchange autodiscover is correctly configured for the new CAS servers. This is a useful tool - https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/.
    Additionally is is always worth deleting Lync sign-in info to remove the cache and force Lync to detect servers again.

  • Input streaming video directly to Lync client ?

    My application requires  RTP streaming audio & video coming over ethernet network to be input to a Lync client which is connected to other Lync clients(on internet). Is there any functionality i can add to Lync client using Lync SDK or UCWA or UCMA
    APIs provided by MS which can achieve this.
    I am new to windows application programming so kindly be more elaborate. One solution i found is to use virtual webcams like Manycam and point them to video playback file but i am not sure how to convert the incoming stream to video file having fixed size
    with older data purged while new data is added under Windows environment?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    The question is more related to development. You can post the issue on Lync MSDN forum and more lync development expert will hlep you. Thank you for your understanding.

    Are the front ends behind a firewall or anything that may intercept traffic?  Is there any software on the machine such as endpoint protection software that may be an issue?  If you install the Lync 2013 basic client, do you have the issue?

    The error message indicate the client is having an issue authenticating with Lync Server 2013. Please double check that Authentication Delegation is verified on the reverse proxy publishing rule configuration.
    Client may authenticate directly. If the reverse proxy publishing rules are set to No delegate and client cannot authenticate directly, it fails to sign-in when it reaches the step to provide credentials to request a token after MEX retrieval.
    More details you can refer to the link below, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

  • Provide steps to send Root CA certificate to the Lync client, getting error" There was a problem verifying certificate from the server"

    Hi,
      I Build an Lync 2013 set up with FEpool, Director pool and Exchange server is integrated. I have windows 8 client machine, with Lync client installed. When I try to login to the lync client, I am getting error like"There was a problem verifying
    certificate from the server".
    When I installed ROOT CA cert  manually on client machine I am able to login to the lync client. similarly if I add my client machine in my domain, I am able to login to the Lync client.
    Now is there any other way to send the certificate automatically to the client machine (Which are NOT part of the DOMAIN) from the server, instead of manual installation process.
    Please help me troubleshoot this problem

    Agree with S Guna, there is no easy way to push a certificate automatically to a client that you don't control other than building an installer package and asking them to run it.  In this situation, if there are a lot of non-domain joined machines
    a third party certificate is the way you need to go.

  • Lync client certificate error

    How can I troubleshoot certificate issues on Lync internal usage?
    We have CA in our domain environment. Lync server successfully requested and assigned 4 certificates from CA. (actually one certificate for own 4 needs).
    All computers by default group policy achieved root CA certificate. And almost all sign in to lync without problems. But there are few computers which can't sign in followed with certificate problem.
    So, at problem computer I opened certificate snap-in using MMC. Then I watched in trusted root certificate container for our root CA certificate. And it exists!
    So, I manually exported Lync certificate from CA server, and manually imported it to problem computer to trusted root certificate authorities. - It haven't solved the issue.
    I also tried to join lync by other accounts - no help.
    I deleted all unused or self-signed certificates from problem computer, deleted all certificates from untrusted publisher container. - doesn't help
    I reinstalled lync client, tried another versions. - doesn't help

    What error did you get when you failed to sign in?
    Have you error sign in on these computer successfully?
    Check if you have Lync user certificate issued by Lync Server in user’s Personal certificate store.
    Check if the same issue exists when sign in with different Lync accounts.
    The following is a blog about Lync client authentication, it is useful for your further troubleshooting.

  • Certificate error when Lync client login through VPN connection

    Hello,
    I am using the certificates from internal cert authority on Lync 2013 frontend servers and on edge server internal network. Edge external is using a third part certificate.
    The users always use MS VPN connection when work remotely. We have multiple subnets in the company so "use default gateway on remote network" is enabled for routing.
    When the users try to log in Lync client from non-domain joined computers while on VPN, they can't log in and get certificate error. It is hard to import the internal certificate on the computers.
    What change do I need to do to the Lync certificates? Thanks

    You have a few options:
    1) You could attempt to hardcode the client so that it always connects through the edge.  This can be done through tools->options->personal->advanced->manual configuration (but you may have to hardcode the FQDN in your hosts file so it doesn't
    attempt to resolve via internal DNS).  This may not work since your firewall may not be too happy with "internal" traffic leaving and coming back through the edge.
    2) Write a script that helps automate the certificate installation and try to walk users through it.
    3) Bite the bullet and use a third party certificate on the internal servers.

    Hi,
    Is that you used the Users Email ID address while creating the user in Lync?
    Try Specify SIP URI In first Block  nima in the drop down menu select your Lync server.
    Check this way.

  • Lync 2013 IM from full Lync client to Apple Iphone 4S

    Hi,
    We are running Lync 2013 and Lync 2010 in coexistence. When sending an IM from a fully Lync client (Lync 2013 homed user) to an Apple Iphone 4S with the latest Lync 2013 mobile app installed and the user chooses not to read the notification or misses it
    an error is shown on the senders Lync window - is this by design or an error?
    This message may not have been sent to Lyncuser1 because the   server timed out.
     On the server monitoring reports the following events are logged for client and server:
    24116; Component="RTCC/5.0.0.0_UCWA/5.0.0.0 iPadLync/5.4.1485.0000 (iPad iPhone
    OS 7.0.3)"; Reason="The request was rejected because the application did not
    respond to the incoming call and it was not the preferred endpoint.";

    13004
     FEservbeer.domain.com.net
    InboundRouting
    13004; reason="Request was
    proxied to one or more registered endpoints"; source="FEserver.domain.com";
    Count="2"; appName="InboundRouting"
    Please advise f this is something we should be concerned about as the message does get received by the iphone user but the sender gets a message that indicates it may not have reached the iphone user.
    Cheers

    Hi,
    Did the issue happen both clients internal the company or external the company?
    Please check if the both of the tested users could see the presence of each other normally.
    Please try to log off Lync Mobile client and then log back on again to test the issue again.

  • Lync 2013 Remote Access on all Lync clients from the internet not login.

    Hi All,
    I have a Lync 2013 setup with and Edge server as well as TMG Server.
    All clients can login on the mobile devices (IPAD, Windows phone etc). However, when i try login on lync client, I get "we're having trouble connecting to the server. If this continues, please contact your support team".
    What could be casing this causing this?
    KimaniBob

    Hi Ben,
    Thansk for the reply.
    I have created  the DNS records on the external and tested all, all seem fine. My Edge server has 2IPs(Internal and External) a NAT has being to the External interface of the Edge and it has being done well.
    I have also ran the ecxhange connectivity, and the output is all green. (Passed)
    Just as an add on. The lync client seems to establish a connection because , I prompts me to enter my credentials. If i put in wrong credentials i get an authentication error. However, if I put in the correct credentials, I get server is temporary unavailable.
    Althou the the error has changed now'Lync couldn't find the server for domain.com....'
    I ran the ocslogging tool and i get the following logs:
    TL_INFO(TF_CONNECTION) [0]1274.0B08::12/09/2013-13:29:25.870.00000149 (SIPStack,SIPAdminLog::WriteConnectionEvent:1222.idx(446))[972797567] $$begin_record

    $$end_record
    I also check on the TMG and found it was dropping SIP protocal (port:5061), not sure if this is the cause, and if so how do I sort it.
    So far no solution.

  • Lync Client 2013 64bit instantly crashes before sign-on || Office 2013 ProPlus 64bit & Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit

    I have a problem with my Lync Client. It simply crashes before the sing-on with following error appearing in application log:

    As the faulting module path is not pointing to a conflicting Bluetooth driver or anything, how to troubleshoot what software is conflicting this?
    Needless to say I've done all basic steps; reinstalling the office, updating with all the latest Office & Windows patces, repairing it, tried it with another / empty user account, etc. This is a new machine with clean Windows installation without OEM
    crippleware. Before I just uninstall everything but Office from this machine, how do I point a problem resulting a kernelbase.dll faulting?
    Only clients "Starting..." screen is showing before the crash.

    Please check if Word, Excel work correctly.
    Check if Lync 2013 works on other computer installed using the same installation media.
