Lync Network assessment tool for pre-implementation load simulations?

Does anyone know of a good tool for running simulated traffic and measuring network performance prior to implementing Lync?
I am looking for a tool that would be able to simulate the different types of traffic generated by Lync and uses the associated codecs.  I currently use NetIQ Vivinet Assessor for VoIP traffic, but it is limited to only the standard voice codecs.  I
would like to be able to measure the performance of a data network prior to implementing any of the Lync servers, so it cannot rely on any of the MS services.
Thanks in advance for any help in identifying a tool.

Hello,
I am just checking to find out if the LSS tool must be executed within the production Network environment in order to determine the actual and useable Network metrics during a Network Traffic Simulation. One of the LSS
related documents (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41935) suggest that the tool should be executed in an isolated test environment.
I will also like to know if I can only perform a Network Readiness Assessment Traffic simulation after deploying the planned Lync 2013 Servers\Topology into production.
I will appreciate some help in clarifying these two points.

You will find drivers in Solaris for Ethernet controllers supported on your SB100:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/SunBlade100/components.html#Ethernet
Your 2 choices are to contact 3 Com for a Solaris SPARC 32/64 bit driver or search the web to see if some intrepid soul has created one. Otherwise you will not get this to work.

  • Wi-Fi Network Monitoring Tool for Palm OS 5.x

    Hi there..
I'm trying to develop a 802.11b/g monitor tool for a Palm device (Tungsten C) using J2ME and it turns out to be pretty difficult or maybe even impossible.. meaning, I'm stuck. Since the J2ME VM is optimized for CLDC/MIDP enabled devices, it can't execute parts of the bytecode I used from jpcap. Same while trying to use libpcap with Java (using wrapper classes), it needs some of the J2SE classes which are not or partly supported by J2ME. So I was wondering whether you guys might have some suggestions to solve my problem (using Java)?
Thanx & Greets from Switzerland, Mike.

Any particular bytecode? Like maybe to do with doubles/floats? Or is java classes required by libpcap that are missing? I'm guessing you need deeper access to the 802.11 libraries to do monitoring. All you'll have in MIDP is the 'http' connector protocol.

  • Tool for viewing the loaded classes, defining and initiating ClassLoaders

Many modern Java based servers and tools such as IDEs employ a complex/hierarchical class loader architecture for modularity and isolation. Many Java debuggers have ability to display loaded classes. However sometimes it is neccesary to view defining and initiating class loaders to debug class loading related issues. I have developed an extension module for Netbeans JPDA debugger to display such information. Please read my blog here:
    http://blogs.sun.com/scblog/entry/updated_view_classes_and_classloader
if you are interested in such a tool.

Can anyone give me pointers on how I could write an agent to dump information about loaded classes, defining and initiating ClassLoaders on:
    JVMTI_EVENT_DATA_DUMP_REQUEST
    event.
Also can similar information be obtained from heap dumps generated by:
    $ jmap -dump:format=b,file=heap.bin <pid>
May be using OQL supported by jhat.
    thanks,
    Sandip

  • Network port Tools for NW

I'm looking for port testing tools that I can run on our server to test it's connectivity to other nodes, such as our master backup server, to see if our Firewall is a problem.
Obviously, I'm looking for NLMs that run on the server itself, not on Windows, which most of the stuff in Cool Solutions seems to be.
More to the point, I'm looking for an equivalent to nmap or hping for NetWare 6.5, but so far, I can't find anything.
I just today discovered that the telnet.nlm is useless for testing ports, as it simply ignores the space and port entered after the IP, and just uses port 23.
    Thanks!

    There's Packetscan, a NetWare-hosted packet capture tool.

  • IOMeter or NAS Perf Tester (network performance benchmarks) for Mac?

When I was on a PC-only home network, there were many network monitoring/testing tools like IOMeter And Intel NAS Perf tester. But I've been unable to find a network testing tool for the Mac. I'm interested in testing file creation/read/write speeds to/from my NAS.
Does anyone know of something for the Mac?
Also, I'm not afraid of using terminal, so if there's any built-in UNIX tools, or ones that are open source and can be compiled on OS X 10.6, I'm ok with that too.
    Thanks.

I found something called HELIOS Lan Test. It seems to do the kinds of create/read/write testing I can use to benchmark my ReadyNAS NV+ file share protocols (CIFS, AFP, NETBIOS) to see which one is faster in my setup.
I already have iStat Menus, and I can monitor performance with it in a rough sense (ie. watch the display when I'm copying a large file), but the HELIOS Lan Test is a much better repeaatble test for ongoing analysis.

  • My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?  Read more: My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list

My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?

Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again!

  • Mock RFP for SUN network management tool, desperate 4 help, just need specs

OK, I have a project that in essence is a mock Request for Proposal (RFP), I play as an intern, & our instructor roleplays the manager we need to convince. The different network management tools that were available were for example; HP Openview, Cisco Works, Sniffer....& I of course chose SunNet. We need to gather information on the tool, then turn around & design a relatively simple network from the specs that were given, & finally discuss how the management tool's abilities could benefit the (mock) company...power point presentation & all.
Here it is from the homework sheet given to us...."These products will need to be useful in a 5000 node network that has four main locations that are primarily Ethernet. There is a legacy 100 nodes of Token Ring attached to a mainframe. Cisco or Foundry routers connect the Four main locations, with swiches employed. Other connections to these sites are done via DSL or ISDN. Additional considerations are wireless communications, VOIP & Content delivery systems.
I know this is a lot & I'm not asking for someone to do all this for me, just simply provide any information you know about Enterprise management tools 2.0 or 3.0,or anything you may feel better suits my needs, as the links I have surfed about them give little to nothing about specifics that I need to make any argument. If you have any links send them...if you have anyting in hard copy I will pay for postage... I need to get this done & have little time as I go to school & work full time at Motorola (but only as a contractor), so I'm starting to choke & need help....any u can give is so very appreciated....& sorry to make this request a publishable novel here on the board, but thats what it is. Thanks again......Mark

A good solution. Liked it very much. Can you please make it a technet blog for others.

  • Lync 2010 client asks for credentials when outside of corporate network.

    Hello,
We are running Lync 2010 Enterprise. Everytime our Lync users are outside of our network and they log in to their Lync client, they get a pop-up window asking for credentials. When they log into Lync inside our network the Lync client connects automatically
without asking for credentials. Is this normal behavior? I assumed that the Lync client would behave exactly no matter where they were connecting from. They are using Lync 2010 client on domain joined laptops, I would assume the Lync client would just use
the same credentials they used to log in to their computers and not ask for anything. Please let me know if there is a way to stop the pop-up from showing up when people try to connect to Lync from outside our network.
    Thanks for any help!

Outside of the network the credential popup is for Exchange web services on the back end to check calendar info, contact lookup, etc.  If Lync is already logged in when they see the popup, this is normal behavior.

  • SQL Loader tool for control file creation

We are planning to use SQL*Loader to move a lot of data from mainframe to Oracle 10g database. We will write the data in flat files and use SQL*Loader to load these files into tha database. There are more than 100 tables with lot of columns in each. So, I was just wondering if there is any tool available (visual mappings etc.) that can help create the control files for the SQL*Loader, so that I don't have to manually type all the lengthy control files
    Thanks for any help,
    Sam

sql*loader is capable to generate the controlfile for external tables which are pretty much the same
    Something like
    sqlldr scott/tiger ulcase1 EXTERNAL_TABLE=GENERATE_ONLYhttp://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96652/ch08.htm#1006964

  • Load Test Tools for CC&B 2.2?

We are evaluating four load test tools for CC&B 2.2. JMeter (Free), BadBoy (Free), TheGrinder3 (Free), Selenium (Free) and Loadrunner 9.5.1.
    1) Does anyone out there have a load test success story to share? If so, be sure to mention which tool or tool combination.
    2) Can anyone recommend another solution we might want to evaluate?
    3) It appears none of these tools work "out of the box" with CC&B. GUI rendering mode fails ajax calls. Does anyone have a trick for working around/through this issue?
At this point, it appears the best options are:
    1) Use a combination of JMeter and BadBoy. We record the gui navigation in BadBoy and run the script in JMeter. JMeter doesn't support https GUI capture, but it seems to be the better tool for running the scripts and analyzing the results. BOTH TOOLS ARE FREE.
    2) Loadrunner VuGen. Fails on replay due to the ajax calls. Manual scripting is the only workaround found so far.
TheGrinder3 has no GUI replay. You can't watch the replay. Also, passwords are clear text.
Selenium only works with Firefox. LVVWD doesn't use/support firefox.
I should also mention that our criteria assumes minimal load testing in the near future and are trying very hard to avoid spending big $$$ for upgrade and maintenance fees.

My company used AppLoader to run tests through NRG Global. We didn’t have a lot of people to dedicate to the testing, so we paid NRG a consulting fee to do it for us (for surprisingly less than we thought!). We had them test a Citrix & .net client/server application (with 300 users) and an Apache web application with Ajax (150 users). AppLoader is protocol independent, so it worked just fine with both. Also, it tests from the front end, so you can watch the GUI replay. They also have password encryption, although we didn’t use it for our tests.
They were able to run the tests & get the data back to us quickly. We ended up with some failures & errors, but they gave us a detailed report with screenshots, logs & graphs which enabled us to find the problem, get it fixed and get our application up quickly. Turns out we had a memory leak. It was a relief to have the test done so fast, thorough & without the huge price tag. I spoke with the consultant there directly. She was very nice & helpful walking me through the results. Hope that helps. Good luck!
