  • After Skype for Business: Meeting Options set in Outlook are not used in the Meetings

    Hi everyone,
after the Update from Lync 2013 to the Skype for Business 2015 Client, I noticed that the Meeting Options you can set within Outlook (for example who needs to wait in the waiting room, is not used in the actual meeting.
Although the settings are persistent within Outlook, for every Meeting I currently must make sure that I am starting it before everyone else and set the same settings again within the meeting with the SfB Client.
Can someone confirm this behaviour? If yes, is this already known and a fix under way? Especially when you invite externals, sometimes I appreciate it if I need to approve them to pull them into the actual meeting instead of everyone just joining in midst
conversation or while you are preparing something.

    Hi,
Would you please elaborate the "actual meeting" (Meet Now?)?
If you mean actual meeting to be Meet Now, it is the normal situation. The SFB meeting options set on Outlook will not affect the setting by Meet Now. You need to set the meeting option through SFB client when creating a "Meet Now" meeting.

  • Skype for Business not Updating Shortcuts - Pro Plus 2013

Installing the Skype for Business update does not appear to update the start menu icons for Office 2013 Pro Plus, so we now have Skype for Business app but only shortcuts for Lync (which will launch Skype for Business when clicked).  In our environment
we use the OCT to create an MST which moves the Office shortcuts at initial install, so I think this may be the issue.
Anyone else see this?  Office 2013 Pro Plus / Win 7 x64
    Thanks

    Hi Alan Dooley,
Have you tried to create a new desktop shortcut ?
In addition, you can try to follow the FAQ below to rebuild the icon cache.

  • Skype for Business client not responding after audio/video/screen sharing

    Hi Everyone,
I have a strange situation in my organisation. We have more than 200 clients and we are using Lync 2013. When Skype for Business (SFB) came out I tested it and found one problem - every time when I trying to make a audio or video call or what ever kind of
file sharing or screen sharing then SFB client will hang and have error "SFB not responding". I can click restart the client and close button. So it´s not possible to call or share anything with that. Specially bad is that is eferyone else is calling
to me it cause the same problem - client will die. So it´s very easy to kill my client :) At the beginning I thought that it´s my computer problem but then it turned out that allmost all clients have the same problem. Computers are different kind of Lenovo
    laptops.
What can cause the problem? I have installed and reinstalled the client. I have updated all the drivers. I have removed Personal Skype to make sure that it won´t cause the problem but problem is still there. Server itself is updated with latest CU and Skype
for Business UI is enabled as default UI.
    Br,
    Taavi

    Hi,
Please try to uninstall the default Sound Card, VGA Device/Video Card, Graphic Card, and use the default system driver to test the issue. Because sometimes update driver to the latest version doesn't work but only use the default system.
Please also make sure OS system update to the latest version.

  • Skype for Business - Cannot see shared screens, bu...

I just started a new job and am required to use Skype for Business.  I downloaded Skype for Business 32 bit.  My PC is 64 bit but because I already have other Office 32 bit programs, I cannot install the 64 bit version.
Everything in Skype for Business appears to work properly, except for the fact that I cannot see someone else's screen when they've shared it with me.  When someone shares their screen with me, all that I can see is the empty white box where their desktop should be.  When I share my screen with others, they can see my desktop correctly.
What other information is needed to help diagnose this issue?  I really need this functionality in order to do my job properly.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was using Lync as part of the offerings found on Office 365 and I was prompted to "upgrade" to Skype for Business and so I did per the suggestion.  Lync had screen sharing, Skype for Business currently does not have screen sharing!  This is a major dissapointment.  Who is the product manager and why the premature roll-out?  This is incredebly frustrating as most all my clients leverage Lync (their own install on their servers... have not upgraded yet.. lucky for them) and screen sharing is an important part of my interaction.  It took many of my clients a long time to master Lync and therefore, it is incredebly challenging to teach them how to use an alternative tool over the phone.  I feel incridebly duped.  My clients can share with me however, I cannot share with them.  What is the current timeframe for enabling (re-enabling) this functionality?  How can I get back Lync?   Is there a beta release of the next version?  Finally, how can this be called "Skype for Business" when a core aspect of the tool to conduct "business" had been stripped away without warning?

  • Is Skype for Business HIPAA compliant?

I am looking for a HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform for medical use. To achieve HIPAA compliance I will need Skype to sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement. Is this available?

Thanks for coming back with the information.
Please reach out to your Lync (soon to be "Skype for Business") sales contact at Microsoft who will be able to answer the question about HIPAA compliance. I'm not aware that the current Skype applications ever went through that review.

  • What is known about UCMA support in 'Skype for Business', the next generation of Lync Server?

Microsoft has announced that the next version of Lync will be "Skype for Business".  In the first half of 2015, the next version of Lync will become Skype for Business with a new client experience, new server release, and updates to the service
    in Office 365.
    http://blogs.skype.com/2014/11/11/introducing-skype-for-business/
What is known about support for UCMA and other Lync SDKs in the new version that is expected to be released in less than six months?
    UCFin

There is now publicly available information that all the Lync SDKs will be supported in Skype for Business. Specifically, there will be support for:
    Unified Communications Managed API (UCMA)
    Lync Server SDK
Lync Client Managed API (including UI Suppression)
    Unified Communication Web API (UCWA)

  • Lync 2013 - Skype for business User Interface

    Hello,
We are using Lync 2013 with Lync 2013 server with CU from August 2014 (so not ready for Skype for Business).
I have installed latest Desktop Updates for Windows and Office, and now everytime we log on we get the Skype for Business UI with the question to restart the client with the Lync UI.
I have followed the recommendation in this article:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
    I have set this:
In the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Lync] key, create a new
    Binary value.
The Value name must be  EnableSkypeUI, and the
Value data   must be set  to 00 00 00 00.
But this settings seems to be completely ignored... doesn't do anything.
We can't set the policy on the server, as the server is not yet up-to-date and doesn't know about a Skype UI policy.
Can somebody please tell me how I can start the updated Lync / Skype for Business client with the Lync UI as a default (without disturbing the user with the restart-the-client pop-up)?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
As mentioned the Lync Server is not up-to-date, based on my knowledge this is why the issue occurs.
Please refer to this article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn954919.aspx
You can configure the client experience only if you are running Lync Server 2013 with the December 2014 Cumulative Update (5.0.8308.857) or later installed. The latest one is:
KB 3036869 February 2015 Cumulative Update 5.0.8308.871 for Lync Server 2013 Core Management Server.
You can specify the client experience the users in your organization will see by using the
Set-CSClientPolicy cmdlet with the EnableSkypeUI parameter:
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true

  • Lync Recordings disappeared after upgrade to Skype for Business

I had recorded some training sessions while my company was still using Lync.  I recently upgraded to Skype of Business and can no longer find my recordings.  Searching for *.mp4 files yields nothing.  Where did my recorded training sessions go?  Should they not still be accessible via Skype? Thanks in advance for any assistance out there!

    Hi,
As far as I can tell for now, no.
Currently there is only a preview version of Skype for Business, you can download it from this link below:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-skype-for-business
Anyway, Lync will surely be upgraded to Skype for Business gradually in future updates or versions, please keep focusing on our products.

  • Skype for Business & Lync : Contact icons not appe...

In our environment we have several users that are using Skype for Business, and the rest using Lync.
We have noticed that when migrating our users over to Skype for Business, the contact functionality that shows "icons" next to each person's name is now blank.
As an example, my personal icon shows up for me but none of my contacts show their customized pictures.
Lync users can see my icon and can see everyone elses.
    Thank you

  • Skype for business/ Lync feature request

I know that Lync will soon be rebranded as 'Skype for Business' so it would be nice if this was a feature.
A useful feature would be if you could set what your bitrate was for your Lync Video call. For example, I have multiple sites with synchronous 50Mbit connections, I don't need Lync to auto change the quality. I need it to remain HD. I have the bandwidth
for it. I know other VC systems have the ability to set bitrates, so I think it would be a useful feature for Lync to incorporate. What do you guys think? Also, if we had CBR or less VBR 2-5Mbit. It would be a much better system for newscasting and the likes.

    Hi,
I have recorded this request and thank you for your advice. Currently I can't guarantee this will be added, but please be assured that any improvements in the product are based on users' requirements. Our developers strive to capture Microsoft users' ideas
and are working hard to create a more powerful and easy-to-use product.

  • Skype for Business: Admin would prefer you to use Lync or it's the only version server supports.

We're running Lync Server 2013, in house, and some of our more fearless users decided it would be a good idea to install the newly released Skype for Business client.
    These users were greeted with the following prompt;
You have the newer version of Lync called Skype for Business. However, your admin would like you to use Lync or it's the only version your server supports. Please restart now to use Lync.
I suspect, that our server is causing this. Can anyone point me in the direction of server prerequisites/patches/updates/KBs that might help eradicate this message?
    Many thanks in advance,
    James Vincent

    Hi,
It is controlled by the server (Client policy), when having Feb-2015 Lync CU installed on your Lync frontends, you can control the UI of the client by using Client Policy on the Lync side "Set-csClientPolicy -EnableSkypeUI $False or $True"
nevertheless you need to know that if you block the Skype UI users will get the mentioned Warning Message and the client will reboot into the old Lync UI but still they will have some confusion with some points (refer to this article for more details
    http://masteringlync.com/2015/04/04/change-is-coming-what-enableskypeui-doesnt-do/ )
If you want to block the whole update, you can do that by blocking the new updates and patches released two days ago using "SCCM or WSUS" although I think if you haven't done that already it is little late for that.
