Lync Phone Edition coexistance with lync 2010 and 2013

Hi Everyone
I am currently planning a coexistent network between Lync 2010 and 2013 as I need to get 2013 out urgently. My question is around the Lync phone edition and how to get the phone to find the front end to register the phone to depending on which lync
pool the user is configured to use. Right now all phones are configured with DHCP and are configured to use the 2010 front end server to get its cert provisioned. I also use the HP 4110 and 4120 phones in the office.
How should I configure DHCP so that I do not cut my user off if they are moved the 2013 pool?

OWA receives mail long before Outlook (Exchange 2013 with Outlook 2010 and 2013)

I recently upgraded my Exchange environment to Exchange 2013 SP1. The Outlook users are now experiencing a delay when receiving email. When they do arrive they appear in batches, often 20-45 minutes after they were sent, from a mailbox on the same server.
Additionally, the mail appears instantly when you monitor the inbox using OWA. The users are experiencing this on both Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients configured in both cached and non-cached modes. This appears to be a problem with Outlook connecting to Exchange.
Any suggestion about how to correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From your description, when users use OWA, they can receive emails normally. But if they use Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013, there is a delay in receiving emails.
I recommend you use the Outlook safe mode to determine whether the problem is caused by add-ins. Also, please make sure users have installed the Outlook latest Service Pack.
If the issue persist, please create a new profile and check the result.

Problem opening documents from SharePoint (2013) libraries with Office 2010 and 2013 components installed

I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
(which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.

other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)

Phone edition Aries Polycom CX600 coexistence - Lync 2010 and 2013

Hi all,
Currently busy with a Lync 2010 > 2013 migration where Aries Lync phones like Polycom CX 600 (using a blend of USB tethering, PIN authentication as well as common area phones) are involved. Phones have a blend of different CU releases ranging from .4066
(CU5) to .4451 (CU14)
User migration must be done in stages. That’s presenting a challenge in that Lync 2010 and 2013 must coexist for some time, yet providing seamless support for Lync phones.
The normal migration scenario will be based on a site-by-site migration: users are moved from 2010 to 2013, DHCP options for that site are changed to provide relevant Lync phones the new Lync 2013 pool parameters. HOWEVER, there is a considerable number
of users travelling across sites, and it’s likely occurrence that a user still on 2010 would travel to a site migrated to 2013 (including phones). And the other way round can also occur.
Based on this, my questions are:
1) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
2) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
3) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
4) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
Also, is there any dependancy on a specific CU version for the sign-in process to succeed? Note all discovery records are strict domain matching compliant.
I was hoping LPE would feature a redirect mechanism like with desktop client but based on the very little specific literature available, that does not seem the case. Any advice would be very welcome.

Lync Phone Edition and wpad.dat - using proxy for firmware updates

Our Lync Phone Edition devices seem determined to use our proxy server for firmware updates, even though the server is directly accessible.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
The phones are learning of the wpad.dat file via DHCP 252. The wpad file has several rules that should be causing a bypass but none is taking effect. The proxy is dropping the traffic because it doesn't match a rule.

I do not have those options set in DHCP because we do not use these as PIN-authenticated phones. The phone is registering fine and is learning the correct URL:

Are you saying that the phone will bypass the proxy if it learns the server name via DHCP but it will use the proxy (and ignore the local names list in wpad.dat) if it learns the name via DNS-based discovery and SIP registration?

Lync Phone Edition - Registrar FQDN cannot be found

Hi,
I have finally got Lync phone edition devices into a separate VLAN. All working ok, except when logging in they pause for about 5-10 seconds with error "Registrar FQDN cannot be found". They then sign in and work perfectly. Option
120 is setup on DHCP and was working fine when they were in the same VLAN as the server. I am using an IP Helper to allow the phones to get their DHCP settings for our DHCP server.
Our Lync Servers (FE and Edge Internal interface) are in VLAN 10 with subnet 192.168.10.0/24.
Our DHCP is yet to be moved into our server VLAN and is currently in VLAN 0 10.81.108.0/22.
Our Lync Phone devices are in VLAN 20 192.168.20.0/24.
When I run DHCPUtil.exe -emulateclient on another computer in the 10.81.108.0/22 subnet, I get the following result:
Result: Success
DHCP Server : 10.81.108.11
SIP Server FQDN :
Certificate Provisioning Service URL :
https://SR-LC-01.OPG.INTERNAL:443/CertProv/CertProvisioningService.svc
It doesn't appear to be receiving the option 120 information from our DHCP server. But this is setup as follows:
The other DHCP options required for the phones are being pulled down successfully, but this one appears to be failing. Please help!

I have had a similar issue in the past and it turned out to be the IP Helper, managed to narrow it down by running DHCPUtil in the same VLAN as the phones. Then tried a phone in the same VLAN as the servers. That isolated it for me before.

CX Lync Phone Edition defaults to ringtone 5 at Sign in

Hello,
I posted this on the Polycom forum initially but they pointed me over to this forum so I'm hoping somebody can help with the following scenario.
When signing onto a CX600 Lync Phone Edition phone during 'Desk Phone Setup' I select a different ringtone (ringtone 4) than the default (ringtone 5). When I sign out and back in again it doesn't remember the previously selected ringtone and goes back
to the default.
Is this expected behaviour or should it remember the previously configured ringtone? It remembers the previously set Time Zone, Date Format and Time Format but not the ringtone.
The handsets are running with the January 2014 update for Lync Phone Edition on Lync 2013.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated

This appears to be expected behaviour for Lync Phone Edition devices. I can repeat your experience at will on an Aastra 6725ip LPE device. All other settings appear to be retained on sign out / in with the exception of the ringtone which as you eluded to
defaults back to ring tone 5.
I have tested this in both USB tethered and non-tethered scenarios - same behaviour each time.
I have an HP here with LPE also, but I suspect the behaviour will be identical to the Polycom and Aastra devices.

Lync Phone Edition - extension normalization search

Hi Guys,
Here is what I got going on:
Lync Enterprise Voice Standard Edition - single frontend - single edge.
Lync User LineURI = tel:+1222333xxxx;ext=xxxx
Active directory user telephone number = +1222333xxxx
Lync dialplan normalization rule - Internal Extension - ^(47\d{2})$ --> +1222333$1
This setup allows all call flow to work spectacularly well. Except... when a user dials the 4 digit extension on the lync phone edition (polycom cx600) the translation rule kicks in and changes it to E.164. Example: user dials 4784 and it normalizes
the number to +12223334784. This again works great except it never associates the translated number to a lync user account. so no presence, no contact card with other numbers, etc.
Additional information: Lync client (2013 and Skype for business) - when i input 4784 into the "find someone or dial number" field, it will normalize the number and show 2 contacts. 1. the first contact it shows is the same as lync
phone edition, only the normalized number. 2. the second contact is the lync user with presence and additional numbers, etc.
So my question is this: What settings above should be adjusted in order for a 4 digit extension to be associated with the user in all searches?
I thought that if i normalized the extension to the AD telephone attribute it would search and find the correct contact but it seems that is not the case.
What settings from above should i adjust to make extension dialing seamless for my users.

1. It’s recommend to install the latest update of the Lync Phone Edition for your device.
2. Have you tried to sign in by connecting the device to your computer by using a USB cable ?
3. Try to configure the value of client policy parameter AddressBookAvailability to WebSearchOnly.

Connect Biam TesiraFORTÉ DSP to Lync Phone Edition as Aux

We're looking for a way to connect in-room audio from a Biamp
TesiraFORTÉ to a Lync Phone Edition handset.
The goal is to have the room audio connected via the LPE device to our Lync system. We could connect the DSP to an SBC and route the calls back to Lync, but that would keep users from having the
one-click meeting join and
directory phone lookups
It would also mean I would have to duplicate our dial plans in either the SBC or the DSP so that a four-digit extension becomes an E.164 number.
Any device suggestions (LPE phones with a USB audio aux port) or past successes with other configurations?

Lync phone edition does not try to sign in after the front end server restarts

A restart of the frontend server. None of our Lync Phone Edition CX600 and CX3000 phones will sign back in. If you hit the cancel button and click it will work. This was fixed in a previous CU update but seems to be back again. CX version 4.0.7577.4451.
Any ideas to try. Cant always restart our switches.

The Update resolves the issue: Lync Phone Edition cannot automatically sign in when the primary front-end server that you register is shut down.
If the issue persists, please also try to reset the IP phone and test again.

ActiveSync with 2010 and 2013 coexistance

I have setup Exchange 2013 within my network that has Exchange 2010 already running. Everything is working with coexistance exept for ActiveSync.
A user can access OWA just fine it shows the Exchange 2013 login but direct them to the mailbox of 2010 fine.
I have created a new user under 2013 and migrated a user from 2010 to 2013 and with either of them I can access active sync just fine. So if the user is in the 2013 database it works fine. Its the proxy or redirect to 2010 that isn't
working.
The log appears to show the connection and then has a error of 500. See here.

If I could just get this fixed it would make my migration move along.

Can you check if the authentication methods in both CAS (2010 and 2013) are equal? If there are different methods, the AES connection will fail and drop the error 500.

Lync 2010 and 2013 coexistence - DNS

Hi all,
we are planning to upgrade from Lync server 2010 to 2013.During this mode,what is best to do regarding DNS?
Should we just keep existing ones and let Lync server proxy users, or do we need to point dns (internal and external) to the new 2013 server?
Like in Exchange 2010 and 2013 coexistence we had to point all dns to 2013 server,or users wont be proxied.

If you don't want to cut everyone over at once, you'll need different FQDNs for external web services between the pools, because mobility and meetings will use them both, regardless of where lyncdiscover and meet point.
If you want to keep the same name, that's fine, but you'll have to cut over in one big shot.
Also, pick a different name for the internal vs external web services. Mobility uses the external name, even when connecting on internal WiFi, so you'll want to redirect requests on port 443 to port 4443 for that and make it available internally.
If you have the same name for the internal web services, then internal requests will also use that path, which can cause issues or at the least route through a reverse proxy for no good reason.
Correct about pool FQDN being unique, also internal and external web service FQDNs unless you move everyone in one shot and don't care.
Everything else is pretty much a repoint when you're ready situation.

Exchange email not syncing with Outlook 2010 and Z10

Hi all,
I've just set up my work email's to sync with my BB Z10. This all works fine and I'm getting the emails on my phone. But when I read an email from my phone, it does not get read in Outlook. When I delete an email on my phone, it does not get deleted in Outlook. Vice versa. If I read and delete emails in Outlook, they do not get read or deleted on my phone. This is rather frustrating as the whole point of syncing emails is to be able to have full control away from the office. I've got Delete on Handheld and Server on yet they are not deleting on Handheld and Server. These settings work fine for my personal accounts but just not on my Exchange account. Initially when I deleted a load of messages from my phone I got the following message 'Email messages will be removed from the BlackBerry Hub but will remain on the server'. Can I turn this option off? Also why is it coming up with this even though I have Delete on Handheld and Server on.

go to settings, accounts, choose the account in question, tap on advanced on bottom, do you show server address and port 443 below it and using SSL with PUSH on?

I bought a iphone 4 from a guy on craigslist, I knew about ios 7.0 having the lock thing, but when I met him, his simcard was in the phone, I tested the phone with his simcard in from of him. The phone looked great with no problems and I even got the box

I used the phone for about a month with no problems at all, even had my apple ID in the icloud and everything... well ios 7.0.6 came out and I used my computer to restore the phone, because I feel that the cord and computer gives it a better restore, it did great no problems, and when it went to the part where I went to activate the phone, I get a enter your apple id and password to complete activation... Wait... why is this up i thought, I thought I did everything like I suppose to to succesfully switch it to me, the new owner... but now its asking for some C******@yahoo.com.... I only have @gmail.com emails and none start with a C... The guy sold me the phone because he was switching to Verizon, and I tried to call him, and now the number is disconnected...
