Lync phone (Polycom CX600 / HP 4120) - can't sign in

Hi,
We have Lync server 2010 deployed.
I've prepared infrastructure for for Lync Phone edition by next steps:

Can some one give and advice how to solve this?

Hi,
Please add the parameters to run Test-CsPhoneBootstrap just like this:
Have you tried to run cmdlet Test-CsPhoneBootstrap -PhoneOrExt
8001 -PIN 12345
Please try to Validate Options 43 & 120 as described in Jeff's blog:

The issue maybe also related to DHCP. If you use Windows DHCP servers, please try to check if the status of Lync Server DHCP feature is disabled.(Get-CsRegistrarConfiguration –EnableDHCPServer)

  • Lync Phone (Polycom CX600) will not sign in (Lync 2013)

I just migrated from Lync 2010 to 2013.  Everything seems to be working except the Phone Edition devices.  My phone (Polycom CX600) and my test phone (HP 4120) both work just fine, but literally everyone else in the office cannot get theirs to
sign in. I've tried on several of them and we get the following message:
"Cannot sign in. Please verify your sign-in address, domainWuser name, and password, and try again. Please verify that the domain entered <username> is correct."
I don't know what the deal is with the W in the domain/user name part, nor do I understand why it thinks the domain name is the username instead of the domain.
As far as I can tell, the DHCP stuff is correct and all that jazz.  All the phones are on update CU12 (.4444).  test-csphonebootstrap reports a success.  I'm not sure what else to do here.

Please check the DNS SRV record _sipinternaltls>_tls.<SIP domain>.com points to sip.<SIP domain>.com.

  • CX Lync Phone Edition defaults to ringtone 5 at Sign in

    Hello,
I posted this on the Polycom forum initially but they pointed me over to this forum so I'm hoping somebody can help with the following scenario.
When signing onto a CX600 Lync Phone Edition phone during 'Desk Phone Setup' I select a different ringtone (ringtone 4) than the default (ringtone 5).  When I sign out and back in again it doesn't remember the previously selected ringtone and goes back
    to the default.
Is this expected behaviour or should it remember the previously configured ringtone?  It  remembers the previously set Time Zone, Date Format and Time Format but not the ringtone.
The handsets are running with the January 2014 update for Lync Phone Edition on Lync 2013.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated

    Hi Mike,
This appears to be expected behaviour for Lync Phone Edition devices. I can repeat your experience at will on an Aastra 6725ip LPE device. All other settings appear to be retained on sign out / in with the exception of the ringtone which as you eluded to
defaults back to ring tone 5.
I have tested this in both USB tethered and non-tethered scenarios - same behaviour each time.
I have an HP here with LPE also, but I suspect the behaviour will be identical to the Polycom and Aastra devices.
    Kind regards
    Ben

  • HP 4120 Lync Phone Edition - Ringer Volume Level Can Not be controlled when a second call comes in for a workflow

Here is the scenario we are experiencing with our HP 4120 Lync phones running the latest available firmware (4.0.7577.4455)
    1) A User has an HP 4120 phone and is a member of a workflow/response group which is setup with attendant routing method.
    2) The ringer volume is set to the minimum level by the user
    3) When a single call comes in to this user, the ringer volume level works as expected
    4) When two calls come in at the same time to this users phone, the ringer volume set by the user is ignored and the ringer plays at Maximum volume.
This is causing disruptions to our office environment as we are unable to reliably control the volume levels of the ringers.
There does not appear to be anything more in the settings/menus of the phones themselves.  I am thinking this may be an issue with the firmware, but if anyone else has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
Did the issue also happen before update to the latest firmware?
Did the issue only happen for Response Group call or also happen for basic calls?
If the issue only happen after updating to the latest firmware, it can be the issue of the firmware.
As there is call delay for Lync IP Phone to be a agent of the Response Group. So you can try to use Lync desktop to instead for better performance.

  • Lync 2010 Polycom CX600 phones fail to sign-in after firmware update

We're running the latest version of Lync2010 in our environment of approximately 1,500 Polycom CX600 phones across 5 Standard edition sites. After rolling out the latest firmware update 4.0.7577.4444 this weekend about 10% of the phones do not come back
online as the user they were previously signed as.The firmware was approved on a Friday evening and Monday morning we were still experiencing the issue.
The phone is stuck in the following error message:
    "Sign-in Error
Cannot sign in. Please verify your sign-in address domain\username, and password and try again."
The phone did update to the latest version of firmware but is stuck in "limbo". Doing a traffic dump on the port it's connected to did not reveal anything as the phone is not attempting to communicate with any servers. Only a power
cycle (unplugging POE LAN port) makes the phone sign back in. Just to clarify, after the power cycle the phone signs back in on its own as it seems that it still stored the user's sign in information.
We connect to the voice network via LLDP and we have Alcatel-Lucent 6250 switches that these phones connect to. We also have the DHCP options for the phones to find our voice network for areas that do not have LLDP capable switches.
Just to recap, about 150 phones experienced this issue across all sites and we cannot narrow it down to anything specific about the environment. Performing a power cycle fixes this issue but it is extremely annoying.
    Any suggestions?

Try to move back to the previous version or you may need to reset each phone manually.

  • Random Lync Phone Edition Disconnections - Sometimes does not sign back in

We recently had a user who reported that his Lync Phone (Polycom CX600) was signed out when he came in first thing in the morning and it was sitting at a sign-in error page.  The phone then was having problems signing in.  We had to factory reset
the phone is order for it to get reconnected.
After the user complained once again about a week later that he found he phone signed out, I had the local tech take a look at the phone.  She tells me it was then signed in.  Now i'm baffled.  The phone was signed out earlier but then decided
to sign itself back in and was working just fine.  One thing else to note, we replaced the phone with a brand new one and still had the same issues.
I checked the DBAnalyze logs with snooper and found several errors that concerned me.  Here is one of the errors I found:

The part that concerns me is the "ABNORMAL SIGNOUT" message.  I found that this is happening to quite a few users around the company and quite frequently.  Has anyone else seen this issue before and if so, any clue as to what an abnormal
signout is?  Upper-management would like an explanation and i'm not quite sure how to explain it.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for responding Lisa.

    Finally can't catch the problem.
    RFT

OK, that is very telling as USB tethering has very few requirements and in most environments works rought out of the box.
Here the main things to check:
Is the Lync User's Telephony setting set to Enterprise Voice?  This is a requirement to use Lync Phone Edition (the
Line URI does not need to be populated).
Time Server issues can also prevent sign-in.  If a Time Server is not provided via DHCP or DNS SRV then the phone will fallback to connecting to
time.windows.com, so if the phone does not have Internet access or NTP traffic is blocked at a firewall, then this could be your problem as well.
Obvious, but worth pointing out: make sure the phone is connected to Ethernet and receiving a basic DHCP lease (IP, subnet, gateway, DNS, etc).  USB tethering does not work unless the device is also connected to Ethernet.
Follow the steps in this article to at least get USB tethering working
    http://blog.schertz.name/2010/12/externally-provisioning-lync-phone-edition-3
Then you can move on to PIN authentication:

  • Lync phone edition does not try to sign in after the front end server restarts

A restart of the frontend server. None of our Lync Phone Edition CX600 and CX3000 phones will sign back in. If you hit the cancel button and click it will work. This was fixed in a previous CU update but seems to be back again. CX version 4.0.7577.4451.
Any ideas to try. Cant always restart our switches.

    Hi,
Please install the update KB3014910 in the link below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/kb/3014910
The Update resolves the issue: Lync Phone Edition cannot automatically sign in when the primary front-end server that you register is shut down.
If the issue persists, please also try to reset the IP phone and test again.

  • Phone edition Aries Polycom CX600 coexistence - Lync 2010 and 2013

    Hi all,
Currently busy with a Lync 2010 > 2013 migration where Aries Lync phones like Polycom CX 600 (using a blend of USB tethering, PIN authentication as well as common area phones) are involved. Phones have a blend of different CU releases ranging from .4066
    (CU5) to .4451 (CU14)
User migration must be done in stages. That’s presenting a challenge in that Lync 2010 and 2013 must coexist for some time, yet providing seamless support for Lync phones.
The normal migration scenario will be based on a site-by-site migration: users are moved from 2010 to 2013, DHCP options for that site are changed to provide relevant Lync phones  the new Lync 2013 pool parameters. HOWEVER, there is a considerable number
of users travelling across sites, and it’s likely occurrence that a user still on 2010 would travel to a site migrated to 2013 (including phones). And the other way round can also occur.
Based on this, my questions are:
    1) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
    2) Can a Lync 2010 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2013?
    3) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (USB tethering) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
    4) Can a Lync 2013 user sign-in (PIN auth) on a phone if DHCP is providing options for Lync 2010?
Also, is there any dependancy on a specific CU version for the sign-in process to succeed? Note all discovery records are strict domain matching compliant.
I was hoping LPE would feature a redirect mechanism like with desktop client but based on the very little specific literature available, that does not seem the case. Any advice would be very welcome.
    thanks all.

  • Polycom CX600 "Signing in-" "Connecting to Lync Server"

    Hi,
We have a customer who's using Lync 2013 and Polycom CX600 desk phones. They are getting a strange error where UserA can sign in to the phone, sign out, then back in again without error.
If UserB tried to sign in to the that phone they would get the message “Signing in…” “Connecting to Lync Server” it never times out until you stop it!
The only way to allow UserB to sign in is to perform a hard reset of the device. It's a single AD domain with a domain integrated ADCS deployment. They have tried two different levels of firmware with the same outcome. I setup the environment for
Lync PE as per  Jeff Schertz's blog post.
    Anyone got ideas??
http://lync2010tips.blogspot.com - [email protected] - If this post has been useful please click the green arrow to the left or click 'Propose as answer'

Have you checked the logs on the Front End Server and if nothing is there, ran logging through Lync's Centralized Logging Service? Please keep in mind that the immediacy that was OCSLogger.exe does not seem to exist based on my experiences with
    CLS.
For checking on what may be occurring, I would recommend the Authentication scenario as it checks the following:
    Scenario:  Authentication
    SipStack
    UserServices
    WebInfrastructure
    UserPinService
    CertProvisioning
    Start-CsClsLogging -Scenario Authentication
Wait at least a minute, log in as the original user, then try to reproduce the issue, then wait a minute or two and stop the logging
    Stop-CsClsLogging -Scenario Authentication
Give it a few minutes to compile a list then do a search of the CLS logs
    Search-CsClsLogging -OutputFilePath "C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\Auth.txt"
Now, if you have the Lync 2013
Debugging Tools installed, launch Snooper (The default path is 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Debugging Tools') and drag the Auth.txt file into it.
With that said, you should be able to better decypher what is occurring based on what happens with the successful log on and cross referencing what happens with the failure.

  • Polycom CX600 sign in and after a few minutes sign out and never sign in again until reboot phone

Recently i have a problem with a CX600 Polycom that don't let me continue with other things
    the behavior is the next
i use usb tethering to sign the phone and it's successful, but after a few minutes around 15  they will log themselves out and the screen shows a sign in error "Cannot sign in. There may be a problem with the server or with your network connection.
Please check your network connection. Retrying" and it's remain until i reboot the phone unplugging the ethernet cable manually and when plug in the ethernet cable again the phone sign in again successfully
i tried different solutions that i found in similar threats but nothing seems fix the problem. Some of solutions that i tried are the next
    Sign in with cx600 .4372, .4420 and 4451 firmware
The solution that suggest in this link
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2464556
i Reviewed DHCP configuration for this phones
i tried to troubleshoot that issue using looging tool but the only error that i can see is
"the peer forced closure" and "Receive operation on the connection failed" in the traces
This issue only is in some devices, others cx600 works fine
If someone can help me i will be gratefull
    Greetings

Does this happen with all the devices or just one devices?what do you see in the deivce logs
Can you mirror a port on switch and collect network trace?
Do you see any relevant event id on the front-end servers?
Check the similar thread at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/7412b5a4-fe61-4a9c-ad40-74adf4291035/polycom-phones-keep-disconnecting-then-reconnecting
Try the three solutions in the following link.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2464556
If all the methods fail, enable logging on Lync phone client
    and collect the trace file.

  • Polycom CX600 Lync Client Music On Hold

So with the lasted update from Microsoft the Polycom CX600 now has an embedded music on hold file.  Is there anyway to disable this?  I do not want the phone to play the music on hold, I want my Audiocodes Mediant 1000 to play the prerecordedtones.dat
    file.
If I am using a Polycom CX700 it works great or if I use my Lync client it also works since I have set the client policy to FALSE for EnableClientMusicOnHold.
So is there a way to stop the polycom cx600 from playing the audio file?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please also check the latest firmware Polycom CX600, if not update to the latest firmware, update it from Microsoft Website and test again:

  • Lync Phone Edition can't retrieve autodiscover.xml

Our Aastra and LG-Nortel Lync phones can't connect to EWS. Digging around in the clg2 logfile from the Aastra, I found that this is because it can't download autodiscover.xml.
The autodiscover url is found through the SRV record:
INFO :: NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::PopulateAutodiscoverUrlsFromDnsSrv: DNS SRV for email domain, mysipdomain.nl, SRV record, _autodiscover._tcp.sipdomain.nl, succeeded.
INFO :: NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::PopulateAutodiscoverUrlsFromDnsSrv: SRV record found for record, _autodiscover._tcp.sipdomain.nl, value, autodiscover.mydomain.nl.
    INFO :: NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::TryAutodiscoverUrls: Trying url, https://autodiscover.mydomain.nl/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
But after this, for some reason, the process throws an error saying that the server is not trusted, resulting in the phone not being able to connect to EWS:
    INFO :: DoesDomainMatchServer: DoesDomainMatchServer-no match(sipdomain.nl, autodiscover.mydomain.nl)
    INFO :: DoesDomainMatchServer: DoesDomainMatchServer-no match(outlook.com, autodiscover.mydomain.nl)
    INFO :: DoesDomainMatchServer: DoesDomainMatchServer-no match(lync.com, autodiscover.mydomain.nl)INFO  :: DoesDomainMatchServer: DoesDomainMatchServer, ret=1, (mydomain.nl, autodiscover.mydomain.nl)
    INFO :: NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::TryAutodiscoverUrls: Server is autodiscover.mydomain.nl not trusted, hr=0x0.
WARN :: NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::PerformAutodiscovery: DNS autodiscover failed
    ERROR :: NAutoDiscover::AutodiscoverTaskBase::OnExecution: Autodiscovery failed. hr=0x80004005.
Resulting in the phone not being able to connect to EWS. As far as I know the certificate is not the issue, because this would generate a specific error starting with "NAutoDiscover::DnsAutodiscoverTask::TryAutodiscoverUrls: Exception with this
    url"
What could be the reason for the server not being trusted?

I have that line in my log too, and I've changed my autodiscover URL to use an FQDN from the AD domain, but autodiscover is still not being trusted.

Does anybody know what the return codes for DoesDomainMatchServer() mean?  Should I be getting a 1 for this?

  • Lync Phone Edition and wpad.dat - using proxy for firmware updates

Our Lync Phone Edition devices seem determined to use our proxy server for firmware updates, even though the server is directly accessible.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a workaround?
The phones are learning of the wpad.dat file via DHCP 252.  The wpad file has several rules that should be causing a bypass but none is taking effect.   The proxy is dropping the traffic because it doesn't match a rule.
