Lync showing messages as "unread" in start menu.

Hello.
I have a very annoying issue with Lync.
It shows my messages from my contacts as "unread" in the start menu.
To clarify:
So this is what it looks like when I hold over the lync icon on the start bar.
This is extremly annoying since I can have upto 10-15 active convos at a time.
As you can see some of them "work", they dont glow when I have read the message.
I makes it hard to know if I have received a new message.
I have re-installed Lync 2 times, I have re-installed the entire office pack once. I have checked outlook(both client and webmail) if there is in some way stored conversations.
No luck.
Thanks before hand! =)
Regards
Jesper

Hi Jesper,
I am not sure if I understand the problem you have.
When a new message comes, the Lync icon in taskbar blinks.
It is by design.

  • Why doesn't my TestStand deployment installation show up under my Windows start menu of my target machine?

Why doesn't my TestStand deployment installation show up under my Windows start menu of my target machine?
I have successfully installed working deployments to target machines. However, I was expecting to see the installation listed as "My TestStand System A" in my start menu, but it is not. Am I misunderstanding something here?
Also, if I peform a different second deployment to the target station like "My TestStand System B", all of the LabVIEW files from my previous installation for "My TestStand System A" disappear from the target directory (c:\Program Files\My TestStand System A).
I am using TestStand 4.2.1 Professional on the development station with Windows XP and LabVIEW 2009.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks Paul,
That solved my second problem and inspired me to search deeper for the answer to my first problem. The answer is in the "Distributed Files" tab, "installer properties", "Create a Program Item" checkbox:
Wouldn't it be nice if this was automatically checked by default for the main sequence files? Wouldn't it also be nice if "Upgrade Code" was automatically regenerated by default whenever we saved the *.tsd file under a different name?
    Thanks again,
    Eugene

  • PS CS6 install doesn't create Win7 start menu shortcut

I just did a PS CS6 install, but just the x64 application. The install created an Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 shortcut in the base Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder, but it didn't create a shortcut (or folder+shortcut) for Photoshop. I created my own shortcut, but figured I'd report this.
    Windows 7 x64 system.

Actually I'm now seeing shortcuts for four new Adobe apps in Start Menu > Programs. The ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 is the only one that shows up in the base Start Menu with red highlighting to indicate a newly installed application. I didn't see the other new shortcuts until I rebooted my system this morning.
The installed folder for each of the four new shortcuts is:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
    Shortcut names are:
    Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)
    Adobe Bridge CS6 (64bit)
    Adobe Extension Manager CS6
    Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6
Adobe is inconsistent with where shortcuts are created. I have several Adobe application shortcuts in Start Menu\Programs but I have a couple in a Start Menu\Programs\Adobe folder and the entire CS5 suite's shortcuts in Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Master Collection CS5
The shortcuts I manually created for Bridge CS6 x64 and Photoshop CS6 x64 are on my desktop and have different names than the ones created by the install.

  • Bug: Universal app input controls (i.e. Start Menu, Task view buttons) ignoring and missing interpretative translation for legacy input control context request (right-click)

Redundant post - however the topic (title) is different to point out the potential of adding translation for right-click to universal app input controls. The part about a solution for translation is in bold at the bottom of this post ...
Bug: Universal app input controls (i.e. Start Menu, Task view buttons) ignoring and missing interpretation translating right-click to a left-click to activate context (menu) in universal app web style (similar to oo context menu for oo legacy style).
Bug: Task view: OO context menu: Should show "nothing" (like right-click Start Menu button) - but right click Task view shows the oo context menu for the Task bar (wrong context)
Besides behaving wrongly (should be like right clicking the Start button) ....
the problem is the user is likely to look for actions on that context menu.
However to activate the context menu for this universal app kind of behavior you actually need to left-click the button for the Task view ... and then you get the universal app like context menu.
Microsoft must have been trying to figure out what to do about this kind of voupling mismatch between legacy (right-click) and universal app (left-click) conmtext menus. confusing for users it weill become nevertheless.
But the left-click style supports touch.
One solution though is to support right-click on i.e. Task view and Start button. Thus for new kind (universal app kind-of)input controls - right-click will work (instead of just being ignored) just like left-click. Allthough not a correct left-click
    - it will be helpful and interpretive translating the intension of receiving a context. A practical solution with right-click translating into left-click for universal app controls considering that the context menu actually has become a hybrid of left-click
and right-click (with a precedence for left-click though)

    This is a great post.
I couldn't have written it myself better.
I'm also in dying need of Korean input as I can't communicate with my Korean friends.
    But I second every point.

  • Flash player not showing up in start menue?

installed version 11 7 700 202 on new computer running windows 7 and internet explorer. Installations said complete, but the program does not show up in the start menue and does not activate when trying to view videos, sometimes getting the message that I do not have flashplayer plugin downloaded?  On the adobe help site the find version help tool displays that "flash player is running on your system" by showing the movie of that text and a red ball.  So what the heck is going on. I have restarted the computer a couple time too?

Flash Player is only a browser add-on, not an executable program, so it won't appear in the Start menu.
Regarding Internet Explorer, a couple of possibilities

  • Adobe Bridge CC (64 bit) shows in my Start menu but will not open.

Adobe Bridge CC (64 bit) showed installed on my Start menu and on the apps CC section.
I cannot open Bridge from either the Start Menu or the File Menu on CC PS CS6.
    I'm on Windows 7, 64 Bit.
I also can no longer use Print Maintenance functions on my non CC PS CS5 version.

Make sure you do not have a previous version of Bridge running in the background.  Only one version can run at a time.
Open Task Mangaer and click on processes tab.  Look for and close and bridge.exe.

  • I keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get it when I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon.

I've just installed Firefox on my laptop and keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get this message whenever I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon. I've never gotten it to work and even uninstalled it and then redownloaded it and still cannot get it to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

  • Start Menu not showing up after 8.1 Update

I am a MSDN subscriber and after applying the Windows 8.1 Update (release April 2nd to MSDN) the Start Menu is not showing up as described in the Key Note.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Its as if the updates were never applied.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Would you please help to provide more detailed description of your concern?
I suppose that once the computer restart, the desktop show up instead of Start screen by default.
One settings can change this behavior which is newly added in Windows 8.1 update 1: Show store app in taskbar

  • I have Firefox 4.0 Beta 6 on my system and Beta 9 was installed, now both are oon desktop neither show on Start menu and Add/Remove list only shows Beta 6 but will not remove it.

Had a problem yesterday and Google chrome replaced Firefox as my default browser without my knowledge. I removed Chrome from my system and can use Firefox. I have two icons for Firefox on my quick launch toolbar one says Beta6 the other Beta9 but both launch Beta 9 but my Add/Remove programs shows only Beta6 and will not remove it. It seems Beta9 is the only version on my system but was not updated in my Start menu.

If you updated from the beta 6 version to the beta 9 version then the beta 9 version has replaced the previous beta version. It can happen that the uninstall registry key of older versions isn't updated or removed and that seems to have happened in your case. So you have only the beta 9 version installed and an orphaned entry to uninstall the beta 6 version.
If you are comfortable in editing the registry then you can remove that entry.Otherwise it is better to leave it.<br />

  • Error message-The installer has insufficent privileges to modify this file:C:\Program Data\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\iTunes\.iTunes.ink

error message-The installer has insufficent privileges to modify this file:C:\Program Data\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\iTunes\.iTunes.ink
How do I correct this to download iTunes so it will run?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Can't download mountain lion from app store, shows error message: retry/cancel and starts from begining

can't download mountain lion from app store, shows error message: retry/cancel and starts from begining,
    I alreasy paid for it
Can I get a direct download link other than from app store

Try opening the Terminal utility in your system and running the following command to open the system's caches folder:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Then locate and remove the folder called "com.apple.appstore" and then try relaunching the App Store and downloading the installer again.

  • After installation, why isn't PP CS4 showing up as a desktop shortcut or in Start Menu Programs?

I have a new desktop for editing and have Windows 7 Pro loaded. With all other applications off, I installed PP CS4 with my program CD. Everything went smoothly without errors. When I wanted to open PP from Start Menu Programs, it wasn't listed. All of the accompanying Adobe software was listed except for Premiere. A shortcut on the desktop didn't appear either. Premiere is listed in the Control Panel under Programs & Features. It is also present in my C drive Program Files (x86) folder. Any thoughts about what happened and how I can fix it? Thanks!

    Hi Jim!
Sorry I haven't responded for a month. I've been out-of-state on a family matter and have just returned.
Here is what's in the PP CS4 folder:
I followed the links to install the Windows Virtual PC feature into my Windows 7 Pro OS. I have attched the following screen shot that shows in the Note section at the bottom that the virtual application feature is not supported in Windows 7 Pro.
Please let me know which way I should go from here.
    Thx!

  • Glitch in Windows 10 about Start Menu when it will not show

I just installed windows 10 on a vm and when I first installed windows 10, I clicked the
Start Buttonand the start menu did not show up. Is there a way to fix this? I've tried:
    1. Rebooting
    2. Double clicking the button

In build 9926, there is no such option as " Use Start Menu instead of Start Screen " anymore.
As to your Start Menu not showing up, MS is aware of the issue.
In fact, Insider Hub has posted Known issues in 9926. One of the known issue is the Start Menu.
    Here is the direct copy......
    Start menu
When you boot Windows 10 Technical Preview, the Start menu may not appear. Checking for updates may fix
this problem. To check for updates without the Start menu, do the following:
    Select the Internet Explorer icon.
    Type
http://update.microsoft.com into the address bar and select
    Enter.
If you are prompted to run a control, click
    Yes.
This should bring up the Check for updates window. Install updates.
If no update is available, or the available updates don’t fix the issue, restart the device–this should
make the Start menu appear. To reboot without using the Start menu:
    Hold down the
Windows key and select L to lock the device. Swipe up or select
Enter to open the sign in screen. Select the
Power icon on the log in screen to restart the computer.
    OR
    Hold down the
Windows key and select R to bring up a command prompt. In the prompt, type
    shutdown –r to restart.
