Lync with Microsoft Home and Business 2013

I am working with a corporate client who used Lync
on a Microsoft 365 platform. However I work independently and have Microsoft Home and Business installed on my laptop. Is it possible for us to connect on Lync in anyway?
Likewise I have a colleague Office for Mac. Are we able to connect using Lync in any way? Thanks Shona

Hi,
Agree with the people above.
Microsoft Lync Server is an enterprise real-time communications server. The Lync client is used to connect Lync Server. The Lync client is only meant to be used with a Lync Server (hosted in a corporate environment) or an account hosted on Office 365 with
Lync functionality enabled. After you doing that you can create a user on Lync Server and login to Lync Server with Lync client.

  • Microsoft home and business 2013 64-bit Product Key not working to activate.

    Hi,
I just bought on ebay india.  ( MS office home and business 2013  64-bit)  During activation the screen says that there was problem.
Your computer has already installed 64-bit files and 32-bit cannot install. To install 32-bit please delete the files and reinstall.
I went to chat with Microsoft website and they advised to post the issue here. Is there someone who can help me activate the product. I contact the seller, he says I have sent you 64-bit installation cd.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
Have you installed any 64-bit Office products before? If yes, please uninstall them using Fix it from Microsoft:

  • Issues with Office Home and Business 2013 Online redeem

    Hi Guys,
I am wondering if anyone has experienced this issue:
We purchased some office licenses via local suppliers, they're medialess, and it's just an email with redeem site's URL and product key.
If i click on the Download link to redeem, it forward to Office Online website and request a Microsoft account to login. We then login use a company based microsoft account. Then what it shows is list of Office 2013 Home and Business items with "Install"
button underneath. I then started look for the one with the right product key, but none of them match the one I've been given from supplier's email.
If i use an installation media, then type in the product key, it will show Redeem Online button again, if I click on it, it ask me to login, once I logged in, it shows list of Office 2013 Home and Business with numbers in the () like (1), (2), (3)....etc.
No matter which way i use, if i continue the installation of selecting any of them in the list, I have to go through Microsoft's telephone activation. Often, we have customer's office 2013 installation corrupted and suddenly none of the office program can
be opened, and we have to uninstall / reinstall office and redo activation and etc.
I am wondering if anyone has experienced this, and whether this is something local supplier's issue or it's something Microsoft should be improving. Right now, we have to order the normal retail version with media, rather than this online version in order
to avoid drama, but for those computers which already installed with online version, we have having issue from time to time.
Any help or comment will be much appreciated!
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
Usually, you can download and activate Office with the Microsoft Account that associated with your Office 2013 Home and Business subscription on Office Online site.
    For example:
    https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/Install-Office-365-Home-Personal-or-University-7a28382b-7015-4b5a-9d9b-650d15742c95
I would suggest you contact your local supplier directly, they should give you the detailed instructions on how to do this.

  • Exchange Online Plan 1 use with Office Home and Business 2013 License

Question: Does the Office Home & Business 2013 Outlook work properly with Exchange Online Plan 1?  (are there limitations?)
As a farm dealership needing 44 licenses (very light Office product use except email), I'm struggling with the sustaining cost of Office365 Bus Prem.  I've pretty much settled on buying Outlook 2013 instead of any subscription models.  Office Home
and Business list price is $219 making a one time purchase cost $9639. I can do that once. (O365BP is $7,920 annual).   Outlook 2013 stand-a-lone will run me around $3500 once plus $2112 annual.  I'd really like the full office package.  I wish
the pricing worked out better for rural, light use businesses.

  • Outlook 2013 (included with Home and Business 2013) does not archive everything

We are running on Exchange 2010 SP3. We have about 5 PCs with Office Home and Business 2013 (click-to-run version). We set up auto-archiving on all machines and set the options to apply on all folders. It's supposed to back up everything 24 months prior.
It does not back up everything. For example, on my machine which is Windows 8.1 (the others are windows 7 pro), it only backed up emails from March of 2013. We have already applied the registry fix where we do the following:
registry key (dword) ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime = 1
    Outlook 2013 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences
That didn't help at all. The machines with Office Home and Business 2010 work fine.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

Seems this is a single problem and we may focus on the problemic machine setting or data file itself.

  • Is office home and business 2013 compatible with windows 8.1?

I have read several issues with installing Microsoft home and business 2013 and the system running right on windows 8.1 has the issue been resolved or is there another version of Microsoft home and business I should download?

    Hello,
In theory, Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 is
compatible with Windows 8.1. You can check if your system meets the requirements by clicking the Requirements tab in the webpage below:

  • Is Office Home and Business 2013 fully compatible with Sharepoint Online (Office 365)?

My client recently upgraded 3 Windows 7 PCs (2-32 & 1-64-bit OS) from Office 2007 32-bit (which was actually working fine against Exchange/SharePoint Online) to Office Home and Business 2013 (32-bit)
Now, for all 3 PCs, while Office 2013 Word/Excel can open, check out/in, and save SharePoint Online files, there is ALWAYS a 2 minute delay in closing the file which is apparently waiting for the Local Security Authority call to return. This seems
to indicate an issue related to SharePoint security on the client side.
      Problem Event Name: AppHangXProcB1
      Application Name:
    WINWORD.EXE
      Application Version:
    15.0.4657.1000
      Waiting on Application Name:
    lsass.exe:lsasspirpc
This is the Local Security Authority Security Support Provider Interface Remote Procedure Call (LSA SSPI RPC)
My client has 66 licenses for SharePoint Online (Plan 2) and 73 Exchange Online (Plan 1) "stand alone" services. The same failure is happening on 3 Win 7 PCs. All of which I've carefully reviewed against the MS Office trouble shooting guides (start
    Windows OS w/out non-MS services, Word/Excel safe mode w/out add-ons, O365 readiness checks, Office repair, etc.). We have PCs running Win 7 (32 & 64-bit) w/Office 365 ProPlus & Office Professional Plus 2013 that work fine. it's JUST these 3 Win 7
PCs that were upgraded from Office 2007 to Office Home and Business 2013 that have the 2 min. SharePoint file close time.
Can you please confirm that Office Home and Business 2013 is compatible w/SharePoint Online
at least for Excel and Word?
The "slow close" problem can be demonstrated on multiple site collections/sub sites and w/Excel & Word docs in doc libs and lists
After many hours capturing information, following the MS Office trouble shooting guides, and repairing the Office install, I've had no luck in resolving this. While Word/Excel will eventually close SharePoint Online files after about
2 minutes, this is certainly unacceptable. Otherwise, locally stored files close normally and new files were created by the Office 2013 Excel/Word for this testing.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi raygabe,
I couldn't find the document mentioned there is any compatibility between Office365 SharePoint online and Office Home and Business 2013 version, I would recommend that you check if the issue could be reproduced on other Win7 machines installed with Office
Home and Business 2013 installed directly instead of upgrading from Office2007, see if issue is related to Office application upgrade.
I also recommend that you post this issue on our dedicated Office365 SharePoint online forum and Office 2013 forum for a better assistance with more experts regarding this issue from the following links.

What's error 1 in adobe photoshop elements configuration? I have a computer with W Vista 8, Windows office home and business 2013. I recently tried to install Photoshop Elements by CD with serial number but on the desktop appears the following message: error 1 (configuration problem) try to uninstall and reinstall. I have done this but the message continues to appear

  • My microsoft office programs (Home and Business 2013) all desplay error message at startup stating " non-commercial use, not licenced product". How do I fix this?

    Hi,
Whenever I start any of my microsoft programs I get an error message stating "non-commercial use, not licenced product" and I cannot do anything in the programs. I havve the Home and Business 2013 version.
My husband bought the office programs for his and my computer and so they are both registered to his name however my email is the login, I dont know if this is relevant.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi,
Based on your description, several possibilities come to my mind.
    1. You mentioned your husband bought the Office Suite for you, did he purchase one product key or two? We need to confirm if the product key can be installed on multiple machines, if a product key can be only installed once and he installed it
on his computer first, you should purchase a new product key to activate your Office.
Since the policy differs in different areas, to confirm how many machines the product key can be installed on, let your husband ask the retailer or contact the local customer service to get the answer:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/gp/customer-service-phone-numbers/en-us
    2. Please confirm your Office version. Based on the message "non-commercial use", I found this kb:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937676/
But it's for Office Home and Student instead of Office Home and Business, we can perform the steps below to find the Microsoft Software License Terms:
    1. Start and Office program.
    2. On the File (Backstage) tab, click Account.
    3. Click About (Product name: Word, Excel etc..), in the window that opens, click
View the Microsift Software License Terms link.
    3. If your Office is a trial version or the product key is not for the version that you are using, consider to uninstall it first, and install the appropriate version. You can probably get the installation media from your husband.

  • How to apply an Outlook 2013 Open license to a pre-installed Office Home and Business 2013 installation for Email Auto Archiving functionality

    We're deploying new Dell pc's.
Unfortunately we have a large existing install base of Office Home and Business in the field due to customers buying Office bundled on Dell machines.  Buying Open License Outlook licenses is more cost effective than upgrading to Office Pro Plus for all
these users and is our preferred path.  We aren’t sure how to apply these Open License Outlook licenses since the Home and Business installations work off a single license key for all the applications

    Hi,
Isn't the Office bundled on Dell machines already activated?
If it's the OEM version that has been installed on the machines and you want to use retail product keys to activate the Office, it's not possible. You will need to uninstall the OEM version and install the retail version.
You can check the OEM licensing system here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/productlicensing/Pages/office-2013-licensing-packaging.aspx
To find more help about OEM depolyment, I should recommend you to get contact with the OEM Reseller Support System

  • Windows 8.1, Office Home and Business 2013: This file can't be previewed because of an error in Microsoft ........... previewer

Previewer for office files is not working from the same application: i.e. can't preview Excel files when attempting to open one from Excel, same with Word and PowerPoint. I can preview all files from Outlook, and, funny, I can preview files other than Excel
from the Excel previewer, files other than Word from the Word previewer, etc.
I can preview all files from Explorer.
I've looked at previous threads and there are some with the same problem dating back to 2009, all UNSOLVED.
This is a new lap top, new Windows 8.1 and just-installed Office 2013, and 8.1 and Office have these persistent glitches.
Very frustrating to say the least.

    Hi CALQ59,
Unfortunately, the article you were referred to, by Melon, is simply an article that is explaining a behaviour (some would say bug) in Windows and the Office previewer system. There appears to be a limitation that occurs whereby, if you have an instance
of the Office application open, for which you would like to preview something in an Explorer window, it will not be able to preview the file. To be able to preview the file, this article states that you "must open another instance of the program to preview
the document." So, either open another instance of the Office application in question or quit any instances of the Office application in question and then preview the file of that same type in your Explorer windows to your heart's content. That is of
course until the next time you are working on an Office document of some sort and the previewer has a hissy fit!
This is an incredibly lame bug/limitation that exists in Windows/Office. It's of no current commercial concern to Microsoft to fix it, so we just have to work around it until the problem bubbles to the surface of the development team's bug-fix to-do list,
    if ever.
Unfortunately, the way software development is going these days it's all moving towards providing Minimum Viable Product (MVP - Yes, this is a term software developers use) for the same cost as a fully functional product. The bar on software QA is falling,
    but the price isn't.
    Cheers,
    David

  • Replace OUTLOOK HOME AND BUSINESS Version with OUTLOOK PROFESSIONAL [Standalone]

    Hey Techies,
Here is the Scenario,I have been using Office Home and business 2013(installed from Click-to-run setup)  on my WIN-7 pro. As i needed to access
my Microsoft Exchange online archive (i have exchange online plan 2) on Outlook i'd to buy outlook Professional standalone (it has the feature to view online archive where as outlook office home and biz doesn't).
So when i try to install outlook professional standalone onto my PC installer just skip installing the outlook (i think) and complete the installation successfully.I assume installation is skipping because outlook is already present .
Kindly some one  assist me in installing Outlook professional by not removing other components of office home and business 2013.
    Thanks advance.

    >> It's the same Outlook 2013 in both cases.
Not, it's not *exactly* the same - the Pro Plus version can do online archives & retention policies while the Outlook that comes with Home or Home & Business is missing a thing or two that are only supported by Exchange servers. For 99%
of the users, it's no big deal and they never notice.
FWIW, this isn't new and it isn't limited to Outlook - the Office professional and pro plus suites have always had a few extras over lower end retail suites. Excel in Pro Plus also has some additional BI stuff, like power pivot.  AFAIK, Word
and PowerPoint are the same in both.
This chart gives an idea of what is different.
As for installing Outlook when a lessor version it's already installed, I'm not sure you can without uninstalling the Home and Business suite and reinstalling it after installing Outlook. It would be better to get the entire pro suite.
