M Audio driver doesn't want to mount

I have an old MidiMan 2X2 that I used to use with logic7 then my drive was damaged and I lost everything.
Now I have L8 and I'm trying to hook up the same keyboard. I searched M Audio drivers on the downloads and was linked to the M Audio page where I found the driver.

I get this warning when I try to download it.
"The disk image you are opening may be damaged and could damage your system"
so I don't open it. Should I try anyway?

Well I went ahead and risked damaging the system and nothing went wrong. I suspect a security update somehow set it off.
anybody with the slightest bit of info gets a solved question.

Decompress driver audio Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 and Equalizer with the 7-Zip software.
Once installed, do a right click on the file sp30578.exe, select 7-Zip/extract the files and then click OK.
Force the installation of the driver manually:
In the device manager, right click on the audio controller, and select Update driver.
Select install from a list or specific location Do not search. I will choose the driver to install.
Click on next, Have Disk, and browse.
Select the cpl3085a.inf file in the uncompressed folder sp30578, and then click Open.
Click on OK, next and finish.
Restart the computer.

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Issue Resolved! MSI P4M900M2-L Intel Dual Core VIA P4M900 Chipset 8 CH Azalia Audio.
There is an issue w/ the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for the MSI P4M900M2-L Intel Based Dual Core Via P4M900 Chipset based Motherboard w/ MS XP Home Premium Installed (Vista driver installs fine as I have built 4 of these in the last week, but the XP Audio driver doesn't).
I could not get either Audio driver from the CD driver disk nor the MSI site to install w/ Win XP Home installed. Live Update for that Motherboard does not contain the Audio Driver either.
After 3 days and multiple attempts to use MSI's very wanting (in my opinion), Technical Support forms and call-in line, I hunted, and hunted and found the driver(s) on CNET. They not only work great but as designed. I had almost given up and I actually installed an add-in sound card....But this is a machine for a customer. Then I searched again and found a real solution.

Good luck to everyone, this will save you RMA'ing those boards over a stupid Audio driver issue, as they are great w/ the Intel Dual Core 775 CPU's from 2.0~3.0Ghz. Can't really tell the difference between the 2 CPU's w/ the Dual Core Program running (a utility supplied on the driver disk or on the Driver site!) I have built both..2 of each.

Audio driver uninstallation G560

Hi,
I've got G560, win7 32-bit;
Intel Onboard Graphics Driver is installed, which also includes the audio driver.
I want to uninstall only the audio driver part (have tried via device manager, uninstalled High Definition Audio Device and Intel Display Audio, but after the reboot windows installs them again (seems like that), so they are active just after the reboot).
Uninstalling the whole Intel Onboard Graphics Driver solved the problem, but in this case I have no video driver left, as NVIDIA Display Driver detects an error (something like "Nvidia didn't found the device" ) (have no idea why Nvidia should work with no nvidia graphic board)
These two drivers are the only 2 that should suits my system (as lenovo support & download says).
The question would be how to disable windows to automatically install the audio driver after the reboot after the driver has been uninstalled.
I want to completely get rid of it, not only to disable the audio driver via the device manager.

while installation, system files has been copied to windows system32 folder, that's why even if you un-install the drivers, on next start-up, it starts to install drivers automatically.
you can try to un-install drivers on safe mode ( when you see lenovo start-up logo, press f8 )
also, your graphic card has also sound output for vga/hdmi ports, that's why nvidia is trying to install sound drivers or can't find it.
why do you need to un-install sound drivers anyway?

I've downloaded and run airport utility, but it seems to have a hard time finding the time capsule...maybe one out of 10 times it will find it.
What's more, when I look under network infrastructure under the control panel, it shows my Broadcom ADSL centurylink Router...so I'm wondering if my modem/router combo is overriding the router function on my timecapsule and the time capsule is not being used as a router...

In this case the TC should be in bridge mode.
Win8 is still problematic. Try using ethernet instead of wireless. I think the drivers are poor still and it is well worth having a try via ethernet if you haven't already.
Otherwise you will need to wait for apple to release bonjour for windows 8 and airport utility.. which is not out yet.
Also make sure the windows is set to home, not work or public.. even turn off the firewall.
Open windows explorer and type the TC ip address into the address bar.. (none of which is perhaps the same.. I gave away windows at vista.. shudder)

TM drive doesn't always mount on iMac startup

Hi,
TM seems to work well most of the time. Once in a great while though, TM drive doesn't mount on iMac startup, and if I don't notice the missing icon on the desktop, backups don't happen.
TM drive is a Seagate Free Agent USB 500G. It's connected directly, not through a hub. The drive has no power switch, so I leave it alone -- out of sight, out of mind.
Two questions:
1. Is is something that I am doing or the way I'm set up that causes this infrequent failure?
2. When I notice the missing connection, what's the best way to get the TM drive reconnected? What I do now to reconnect is: shut down the computer, pull the power plug on the TM drive, restart the computer, plug the drive back in.
Your thoughts appreciated.

My understanding is that the disk doesn't mount, ie not visible to the system. In that event I can't see that changing Time Machine's disk allocation will achieve anything. It's a hardware initialisation issue.
If the disk isn't mounted (personally I'd check System Profiler to be absolutely sure) then there can't be any transfers going on so you should be safe to just unplug, pause to let the electronics settle and then plug back in. If that works, and the problem is rare, that might be the best way to go, although it might be that there is some problem with the drive which is not good if you are relying on it for back up. I don't know enough about hard drives to comment on that aspect (maybe it's just a driver issue?).

External Hard Drive Doesn't Mount on Desktop through FireWire 400

I have an external hard drive that mounts on the desktop when connecting to my iMac via USB, but it fails to appear on the desktop when connecting via FireWire 400. It was glitchy in Tiger as well, and had problems since installing Leopard. I was able to get it to work once, after using Leopard Cache Cleaner (a 3rd party program), disconnecting the hard drive, and unplugging the iMac. I moved my computer this week, and had to unplug it and when I powered it back up, the hard drive doesn't appear on the desktop again through FireWire 400 (still works fine with USB). It also doesn't appear in Disk Utility through FireWire.
What good are FireWire if they fail to recognize a hard drive so often?!

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.
I recommend that you also make a backup before proceeding. Just quit the installer.

.m4a and .mp3 are two different file formats. If they are actually .m4a files, the .mp3 at the end of the file name may be confusing iTunes as to how they should be played. For more information about file formats in iTunes, you may find the following articles helpful:

Audio doesn't want to work now...

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my adobe premiere project. I have 11 different audio tracks (one of them is silent). Now I've saves my project about once every two hours, and I have a lot of saved files. As I progressed in the project, I noticed one of the audio clips doesn't play right on the timeline. When the marker hits that clip as it's playing, I hear a loud pop and then silence, and then another pop when that audio clip ends. Now this seems to be happening with almost half of my audio clips in my project!

No, the problem doesn't happen in the original sequence. It only happens when I apply this Denoiser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "nested into another sequence". I had the original audio clip which I exported, modified, and imported as a wav file. Then I applied the Denoiser effect.
There are multiple audio tracks playing at once though, like ambience, voice, music, ect.

Mac mini (late 2012) Windows 8 Pro: no HDMI audio & driver error

Bootcamp 5.0.1
Mac mini (late 2012) server, installed boot camp on the second HD and gave entire HD to bootcamp partition.
Installed Windows 8 Pro from USB key created during installation from iso file, activated with Microsoft. Everything went smoothly, have one issue that I want to share, to see if anyone has been able to resolve. By the way, magic track pad, as expected only have basic functions supported, left and right click, scroll with two fingers, "tap to click" and secondary click with two fingers tap.
Only one issue so far but pretty major one. Audio through HDMI cable doesn't work, all sound plays via Mac-mini's internal speakers. Windows Device Manager shows error for "High Definition Audio Device" - The device cannot start. (Code 10).

Well, arguably bootcamp 5.0.1 does support Widows 7 or higher, there no reference anywhere that it doesn't.
I was able to fix issue by updating driver using intel audio driver. Everything works now...

Please read this whole message carefully, especially the warnings, before doing anything.
1. The changes to your configuration suggested here should be considered provisional; they may not solve your problem, or they may remove functionality that you find useful. If a third-party system modification that you want to keep is causing the problem, seek help from its developer.
2. WARNING: Back up all data now if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state, even if it becomes unbootable. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP — DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING. If you’re dissatisfied with the results of the procedure suggested below, restore from your backup. I will not be responsible for the consequences, and I will not be able to help, if you ignore this warning.
3. You should either remove or update the following system modification(s), if an update is available from the developer:
Parallels
and definitely remove at least the following:
Boom
† MacKeeper
† VirusBarrier
4. Whatever you remove must be removed completely, and (unless otherwise specified in this message) the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the third-party developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job. I can't be more specific, because I don't install such things myself. Please do your own research.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, email the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Again, please don't ask me to do this research for you. You can do it better than I can, because I haven't installed the product and I may not even know what it is.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.
5. I recommend that you never reinstall the modifications marked with a dagger (†) above, if any. If your problem is resolved after uninstalling all the above modifications and rebooting, but you still want to use some of those not marked with a dagger, you can experiment with putting them back, one at a time, testing carefully after each step. Keep in mind that system modifications may be incompatible with each other or with future OS X updates, so it may not be clear which one is at fault.
6. If you still have problems after making the suggested changes and rebooting, post again. Remember: if you don’t like the results of this procedure, you can undo it by restoring from the last backup you made before you started.
Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions, nor do I intend to repeat the test.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. A dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. That's the only useful feature of "MacKeeper:" it deletes itself. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.
