M-Audio Firewire

When I fire up Logic Express I get a dialogue box that reads:
"The previously selected audio interface is not available.
The built-in audio inputs and outputs of the computer will be used instead for this session."
I have tried re-installing Logic and M-Audio 410 twice but the same thing keeps happening.
I know the 410 is wqorking becasue I have pumped audio inot eth system abnd it registers on the mix page at the correct inputs.
When I try to go to preferences in Logic the computer hangs and I have to re-boot so I am unable to look at preferences.
Anybody got any ideas?
HELP!!

When I started using Firebox with Firewire conection and I had unplugged the Firewire I would get the same message prompt, when I leave Firewire plugged in and restart LE I do not get the prompt, I have thought it is a boot configuring issue and if I plug Firewire into the mac before boot-up I don't have a problem, I hope this helps, Cheers

  • I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?

I am getting no signal to my dj mixer using m-audio firewire audiophile sound card connected to my mac book pro using Traktor Dj software can anyone help?
The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
    Hope someone can help
    Thanks

    kmiddlet88,
yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

  • Help! My Macbook Pro will not recognise my M-Audio Firewire 410 interface

    Hi
I'm new here and fairly new to Macs having only recently bought a Macbook Pro.
My plan is to use the Macbook primarily for music but I can't get my M-Audio Firewire 410 audio interface working.
I have installed the latest Intel driver but when I plug the interface in, the Mac does not recognize it at all. I have tested the port/cables etc, and can successfully play music from an external firewire HDD chained through the Firewire 410.
How is it possible that the Mac doesn't even know the interface is there (when I click on the M-Audio software icon I get this message "No M-Audio Firewire device was found connected to this Mac") yet I can play music chained through the device?
I have tried both with, and without, the external power supply connected to the Firewire 410 and also tested it on my PC where it works as usual. And I've tried deleting and reinstalling the driver....(I thought this was PC only territory!)
Any ideas? I really want to get back into music and my past (bad) experiences with PCs drove me to the Mac...
    Many thanks in advance
Macbook Pro 2.16 Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Try v1.8.2 instead of v1.7.2 of M-Audio's driver setup.

  • Installing m-audio firewire 410

i just bought a m-audio firewire 410 soundcard. to make sure i would install it properly, i followed every step of the user manual. still, it's not working. the blue LED light keeps flashing, my mac is not even detecting the soundcard.
i don't know what to do...
    please help!!!!

from my understanding, the bluetooth device is not getting power and that could be various reasons. it's dying, you have some new installed hardware that is draining from the bluetooth power thingy. haha. but yea, if you were able to the power manager reset, then it was just a minor draining thing.
this thing happened to me when i had a bluetooth mouse, usb mouse, mbox, external monitor, usb keyboard, iLok usb dongle, usb hard drive all plugged in. hahaha. my computer was like, are you serious! but after all of that craziness. i reset, and it's fine!

  • IChat AV doesn't work with M-Audio Firewire audio interface

I saw similar topics to this but none dealing with a Firewire audio interface and none with exactly the same problem.
Every other piece of software I use works with the M-Audio Firewire Solo, except for iChat AV. When it is the selected output device and I start a video chat with someone, I get just horrible, loud static when the person on the other end speaks.
Running 10.4.10 on a Macbook Pro (2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).
Does anyone know of incompatibility issues with iChat and Firewire interfaces?

In Audio MIDI Setup (In applications/Utilities) the setting for my Mic is 44100khz 1Ch 16bit.
The Internal Audio connection also shows up at 44100Khz 2Ch 16bit
Are you looking in the same place or in the device itself ?
I would set it in the Audio MIDI Setup and then make sure it responds in System Preferences > Sound > Input tab.
Once the Blue bar moves to at least halfway there I would then check iChat > Preferences > Video Section to see if the green bar under the Vido pics is moving.

  • MacBook Pro, M-Audio Firewire Interface-works with mainstage BUT NOT logic!

I have a brand new mac book pro and a m-audio firewire series interface that i am using to plug in my guitars. The problem is i cant get any sound to come out of Logic Pro. I have connected the exact same devices to Main Stage and I can get sound instantly, however of course the sound output on main stage is selected to the computers speakers. I can't seem to find a similar setting on Logic Pro, could this be the problem, or maybe even another setting I have set incorrectly?

Here's where we're at, I completely agree, I do have a pair of power m-audio studio monitors connected through the headphone out from the computer itself, i should be going from the interface to these monitors directly.
Yes, and have you done so? After you do this, in Logic do to preferences/Audio and select only the M-Audio driver, not the aggregate device but the dedicated M-Audio driver.
As for the aggregate device, in the aggregate device setup try different devices as "clock master" until you find one that works. Maybe M-Audio Output.
Logic takes user input, it's not a simple program, that is..... it isn't "Apple Simple" which I usually think of as close to brain dead.
You will also need to make sure the correct set of inputs is selected for the track you're recording on, default is usually 1-2, if you're recording mono input 1 is left, input two is right.
Also make sure you have "Universal Track Mode" in Logic Preferences/Audio selected. I would encourage you to first get things working using M-Audio's dedicated hardware driver, plug your speakers into the M-Audio main outs.

  • Getting Soundtrack Pro to record with M-Audio Firewire Solo?

I'm having trouble trying to record 'live' into Soundtrack Pro. I've got a mic into analog mixer into M-Audio Firewire Solo audio interface into ibook set up.
In STP, I can select firewire channels 1 to 2 (under "Recording" tab) for the input device but nothing is recording when I hit the record button. the mic>mixer bit is working fine. I'm quite certain the mixer>audio bit is working so I think its a problem with compatibility between the M-Audio Firewire Solo device and Soundtrack Pro software....although it shows up as an option in the select audio input/output settings in STP... I've also got the latest Tiger driver for the Firewire Solo device and the latest update for STP.
I CAN record from the in-built mic on the ibook so that bit works...
Currently, I've been recording individual tracks into Audacity then exporting them all as separate tracks into Soundtrack Pro for post production as AIFF files (drag and drop them into STP in the order I require). I'm doing this as a temporary measure until I can find out how to get M-Audio Firewire Solo talking to Soundtrack Pro.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Well, I got it working with Soundtrack Pro and Audio Hijack Pro in the end. It seems that only the front side of M-Audio FireWire Solo recording interface actually seems to work and only the right channel (mono). Its a little bit annoying but it works...not sure why the back ones did not work (s/pdif, balanced and unbalanced phone jacks plugs), perhaps its something to do with the fact that the front has gain level knobs and the back doesn't....hmm...maybe not enough power to drive the back connectors?
Anyway, if any of you happen to use M-Audio FireWire audio interfaces (analog to digital converter) and you face a similar problem, then its probably going to be a similar thing...

  • M-Audio Firewire 1814 troubles

    Hi,
Although I am not new to Logic, I just recently (5 months ago) switched to a Mac and Logic Pro 7.2.
I use an M-Audio FireWire 1814 as my interface adn up till now never had any real problems.
But since yesterday, it seems that my interface is having some troubles and I would like to know if there are any other users with similar experiences. This is what happens.
Initially, everything works perfectly, but after, say, 30 minutes, the audio starts to stutter (as if there is a delay in the path). A couple of minutes later the audio starts to drop out completely and some high pitched noises can be heard. A little while later the interface seems to die completely, resulting in a 'Device Removal' message.
I have no clou what might have caused this phenomenon. I certainly did not do any hot plugging. But to be sure I switched to another port, just to have the same problems.
A complete driver removal and re-install did not help either.
I can say that, the first time this happened, my Mac completely hung up: some kernel-task was using 105% and everything else started to work really slowly...
So, any thoughts? Is this a hardware problem and should I take the FW1814 back to the store? Or are there any other steps to be taken to make shure otherwise is indeed in good condition (eg bad drivers)? I know these are questions that are more inspired by my Winders history, but nevertheless...
    Please help. Many thanks.
    Bert

Any chance you are using other Firewire devices, such as a Firewire drive? What type of Mac are you running Logic on?
The M-Audio 1814 does not play well with other Firewire devices and M-Audio will give you the run around on this all day long. This is especially a problem on portable macs because they only have one Firewire bus and this can spell * crash * (and often does with Firewire disk drives) if you try to use the M-Audio 1814 with other Firewirewire devices.

  • Is M-Audio FireWire Solo ok for Logic 9 ?

Is M-Audio FireWire Solo ok for Logic 9 ?

Yes. All M Audio interfaces work very well with Macs running Lion and Logic Pro 9. It all just depends on what specs you're looking for in an interface. Assuming the FireWire solo meeting your demands in terms of sample rate, bit depth, and ins and outs, go for it!!

  • M-Audio FireWire Solo - appropriate for what I need? Compatible with FCP?

    Hey all:
I'm shooting a video short next week with a DVX100. Eventually I'll need to do some voice over work in my... "studio." I have mics but need a preamp. The M-Audio Firewire Solo fits the budget comfortably. My minimum requirements are one XLR input and Phantom Power, which it has.
I'm just wondering if anyone has advice against the decision. I have very little experience with audio interfaces. Anything I should be watching out for? Any other suggestions? My budget tops out at $400US or so, but I don't want to overdo it, either. I'm not looking for something that will perform things I may need in the future, I just need a quality, compatible, reliable preamp.
    Thanks in advance, everyone.
    Michael

I teach in a school that uses Tapco Mix60 mixers (http://www.tapcoworld.com, approx $60) with FCP with great success. So much so, I bought one for use at home with my rig.
True, the whole path is analog. But using the speaker/microphone jacks on the back of a G5 work well. So far with about 30 students using the systems we have had no problems. Just buy some Hosa cables (Mini to 1/4” Phone Stereo Breakout) from your favorite supplier to connect the Mac to the mixer. Add a microphone and you are all set.
As a side note, I generally use Soundtrack Pro to record voice overs. It seems a little easier and I have access tools to make me, or talent, sound better.

  • Logic and M-audio firewire ADAT lightbridge

    hi
anybody using the m-audio firewire ADAT lightbridge succesfull with logic ?
I'm thinking about getting one, but didn't find any neutral reviews anywhere...

No it's not possible to open Logic's session in Pro Tools. You have to export an OMF file, converting audio files into split stereo, as far as I know.

  • Using m-audio firewire 410

Hi Mac, community, I have this m-audio firewire 410 and I'm trying to use it with garage band.
I only get sound if I change to *built in* audio output in garage band preferences and hear the sound in my computer's buit in speakers..If I want to return the audio through the 410 device ( changing to 410 analog 1/2 output in preferences ) and hear my bass on my 410's headphones output...I can not get any sound...what I am doing wrong ?
    Thanks

    ok..problem solved.

  • Suggestions between m-audio firewire solo versus tascam us-122?

I'm new to audio recording and garageband, and am looking to get into it for messing around to make decent sounding voice-overs and home studio music to integrate into my final cut projects.
Any suggestions between the two of these interfaces?
    m-audio firewire solo
    tascam us-122
(maybe even the m-audio fasttrack or mobile pre...although I don't mind spending a bit more for the above models instead)
I'll probably be buying either the mxl v67 condenser mic or the m-audio Nova to go along with it...mainly for vocals.
    Thanks guys!

I think all of these are good audio interfaces, judging from what people tell about it. To throw in another alternative: If you're fine with two inputs, the Presonus Inspire is a good bargain at around 200 dollars.

  • M-Audio Firewire 410.....

I've recently purchased an M-Audio Firewire 410 after using a n M-Audio firewire Solo for ages and being very happy.
Whoa! The Mac ( intel iMac) doesn't even want to acknowledge the presence of the 410, let alone Logic have a go.Jim
    I think I'm stuedf.........any magic answers?

Just a note to all those others who have or are considering the 410. I have a 410, which I was using on my old PC. It wasn't working on my new 24" iMac. I called M-Audio and they said that their driver needs to be updated, and it should be out in a few weeks. From other threads I've read, this is what they were saying a few weeks ago.
I say this to save some of you the frustrations of getting your 410 to work with a core 2 duo running 10.4.7. Don't waste your time. Either wait for the driver to come out, or switch.
I'm getting really tempted to switch to Presonus.
